Wśród nich można wymienić m.in. określenia: jude Niedziel, zbrodniarze, dr Mengele vel Niedzielski, covidowe hitlerki, ludobójstwo.
The subject of this article is the description of selected invectives used to discredit the opponent (mainly the government and the Minister of Health) by vaccination sceptics on the social networking site Facebook. In the discourse in question, we observe diverse linguistic means of depreciation, among which a special place is occupied by those referring to anti-Semitic and war themes. The analytical material is a corpus of texts containing Facebook users' comments. The research focuses on analyzing ways of negative valuing (depreciating) the opponent and shows the linguistic means used for this purpose. Among them are the following terms: jude Niedziel, criminals, Dr. Mengele a.k.a. Niedzielski, covid hitlers, genocide.

Opis:
The article focuses on the analysis of the parent situation (or statutory representatives) who are under legal requirement to subject their children to preventive vaccination. The main deliberations focus on answering the question of how the parents’ (or statutory representatives’) position should be treated if they, relying on the principle of autonomy and their parental rights, and pointing to their duty to exercise care of a minor and to represent a minor child, fail to take any action intended to implement the obligation imposed by law. Parents refer to the principle of child’s welfare and argue that vaccination constitutes an essential threat to the values they recognise, such as autonomy, freedom to make decisions regarding the actual situation and legal position of a child, or the child’s welfare. The issue of parents’ autonomy and implementation of child’s welfare is raised. Parents often bring up an argument of the harmful eff ects of vaccination and claim that by refusing to agree to vaccination they exercise the principle of child’s welfare. The legal character of the refusal to consent to child vaccination is also analysed. Here, deliberations are set in the context of imprecisely formulated statutory provisions and their mutual relations, especially in the context of the meeting of acts from two branches of law:  administrative and civil, and within the latter family law in particular. An attempt has been made to explain doubts whether despite the mandatory requirement and resulting from it obligation threatened with an administrative fi ne statutory representatives still have a right to express or not consent for vaccination of their children or to decide about at any stage of the procedure.

An analysis of the corresponding models is made to answer the question which of the presented methods of immunotherapy is better. The analysis is completed by numerical simulations which show that the method of adoptive immunotherapy seems better for the patient at least in some cases.

BackgroundThe COVID-19 pandemic re-raised the subject of vaccines and their importance for public health. Given the number of employees, one of the key environments in which vaccination should be promoted is the workplace.Material and MethodsAn original, anonymous and voluntary questionnaire with 13 questions regarding health behaviors of employees in Poland was distributed through HR departments of the companies invited to the research (Computer-Assisted Web Interview – CAWI technique) This publication presents the results of answers to the 3 chosen questions concerning: health issues related to work, interest in health promoting initiatives and following recommendations for physical activity.ResultsAccording to the research presented in this article, 39% of employees in Poland were interested in vaccination against COVID-19. The most popular preventive initiatives are still healthy eating and sport activities. The government allowed organizing vaccinations at the workplace, which gives new opportunities but also obligations and risks. Overall, the potential of a workplace in fighting the coronavirus seems to be used to a very small extent. This carries the need to consult systemic solutions with representatives of employers and occupational medicine practitioners as well as the government.ConclusionsThe workplace should be one of the key habitats for health promoting activities, including vaccinations. The above-mentioned issue should still be the subject of research for solutions tailored to the needs and capabilities of each group (employers, occupational medicine professionals and government). One of the circumstances of promoting the health of employees should be preventive examinations of employees – a doctor’s visit and contact with an occupational medicine nurse. The potential of preventive employee examinations in this area seems to be unused and limited. The level of immunization of employees has an obvious impact on the state of the economy. In view of the voluntary vaccination against COVID-19, this requires educational campaigns aimed at both employees and employers.

Introduction. Nowadays, preventive vaccination is still the most effective method of countering and combating infectious diseases. Objective. The objective of the present study was to take into consideration the education of the respondents while learning about their views and attitudes towards both compulsory and recommended preventive vaccination in Poland. Materials and methods. An interview survey was conducted among 370 respondents – students and young parents residing in the Lublin province of eastern Poland. The research tools were an authors’ questionnaire and a Life Orientation Questionnaire (SOS-29). Results. The majority of respondents with secondary education (77.40%), undergraduate education (63.71%), and graduate education (55.07%) stated that sometimes preventive vaccination may have life-threatening consequences. A very small percentage of both groups of respondents with secondary and undergraduate education expressed the opinion that such situations often happen (1.69% vs. 1.61%), but this opinion was not shared by any of the respondents with graduate education. Analyzing the dependency between the sense of coherence and one’s level of education, a significant difference between the respondents with secondary education and undergraduate education was observed. Although differences between respondents with graduate education and respondents with undergraduate education existed, they were not very significant. Conclusions. The educational background of the respondents has an impact on their opinions on preventive vaccination. The great majority of respondents believed that vaccination is necessary in order to avoid many dangerous diseases. Respondents with graduate education evaluated preventive vaccination in a positive or a very positive way. The subjects differed in their global sense of coherence together with its components. The general sense of coherence stood at an average level, with the mean of 129.02 points. The highest results were obtained by the respondents in the area of resourcefulness, which is a belief that they had at their disposal remedial resources, including preventive vaccination.

The subject of the article is the attempt to spread vaccinations against smallpox undertaken by the circle of intellectuals gathered around king Stanislav August Poniatowski. There are two aspects described in the article. Educating the society by publishing effects of work conducted by doctors in Western Europe based on observations of medicine in the Far and Middle East. The second aspect is popularizing healthy behaviours amongst the readers of magazines and newspapers in the Stanislaw August Poniatowaski Era namely encouragement to vaccinate. The article is concentrated on the analysis of writings by Grzegorz Piramowicz published in Zabawy Przyjemne i Pożyteczne”  (Pleasant and Useful Games) inspired by the Voltaire’s letter On smallpox vaccinating.

Vaccination is a most cost-effective way of controlling infectious diseases in fish. However, some vaccination techniques when applied to hatchery conditions are not as effective as we expect them to be. Modern molecular biology techniques offer a number of opportunities for improving existing bacterial or viral vaccines or creating new ones. One of the most promising trends in vaccinology is development of DNA vaccination. DNA vaccines are based on the gene encoding specific antigen, which is expressed in vaccinated organism and induces the host immune system. DNA vaccines, compared to conventional vaccines, have many advantages including ability to trigger wider immune response, bigger stability and possibility of large-scale production. To date, there are several reports indicating effectiveness of DNA vaccines used against fish pathogens.

Opis:
This article aims at presentation of disease in sheep that follows upset in gut microbiota, due to sudden changes to a rich diet. Enterotoxemia (pulpy kidney disease), most commonly occurs in rapidly growing or weaned lambs, when there is a rapid shift to a low fiber and high carbohydrate diet. The disease develops when Clostridium perfringens type D, that normally inhabits the animal intestines, begins to multiply fast and produces an epsilon toxin that results in toxemia and frequently, the sudden death. Rapid multiplication of type D and epsilon toxin production is favored by excess of dietary starch in the small intestine. C. perfringens type D can also cause a chronic form of the disease – focal, symmetrical encephalomalacia. Diagnosis is based on clinical signs, history of sudden death cases in herd and confirmation by necropsy, brain histopathology, bacteriological examination, RT-PCR and ELISA. Treatment, prevention and control of pulpy kidney disease depends on serotherapy with antitoxin, supportive treatment and correction of diet and vaccination. Effective vaccines are commercially available. All animals in the herd, especially the young ones, should be vaccinated to minimize the risk of enterotoxemia in sheep.

The article reviews the history, present status and the future of BT vaccines in Europe. So far, an attenuated (modified live viruses, MLV) and inactivated virus vaccines against BT were developed and used in the field. Moreover, the virus-like particles (VLPs) produced from recombinant baculovirus, and live recombinant vaccinia or canarypox virus-vectored vaccines were tested in the laboratory. The main aims of BT vaccination strategy are: to prevent clinical disease, to reduce the spread of the BTV in the environment and to protect movement of susceptible animals between affected and free zones. Actually, all of the most recent European BT vaccination campaigns have used exclusively inactivated vaccines. The use of inactivated vaccines avoid risk associated with the use of live-attenuated vaccines, such as reversion to virulence, reassortment of genes with field strain, teratogenicity and insufficient attenuation leading to clinical disease. The mass vaccinations of all susceptible animals are the most efficient veterinary method to fight against BT and successful control of disease. The vaccination of livestock has had a major role in reducing BTV circulation and even in eradicating the virus from most areas of Europe.

Opis:
Mandatory vaccinations are the basis for numerous discussions and controversies not only among the public, but also among sociologists, epidemiologists and lawyers. The obligation to undergo vaccinations concerns primarily children, so it will be performed by the legal or factual guardians of the minor. In recent years, there has been an increase in the proportion of children not vaccinated. Avoiding the obligation to vaccinate is currently an increasing social and legal problem. This article is devoted to the issue of responsibility for evasion of compulsory vaccination in terms of criminal law dogma. The demonstrated links between the activity of public administration and the contemporary law of offence, which penalizes the evasion of the obligation to vaccinate, will help to understand the multi-faceted structure of mutual relations between the currently separated branches of law. This highlights the mixed nature of the responsibility for not carrying out mandatory preventive vaccination.

Opis:
This review aims to summarize the latest development in the epidemiology, pathology, clinic and control of lumpy skin disease (LSD), with the focus on its transboundary spread, possible emergence and economic implications for on cattle production. This notifiable disease is endemic in African and Middle East countries but has started spreading to Asia and south-east Europe, affecting Greece and Bulgaria and countries in the Balkans. Lumpy skin disease is mainly transmitted to infection-free areas by transport of infected animals and by virus vectors, as blood-feeding insects, such as certain species of flies and mosquitoes, or ticks. There is also growing importance of the spread of wildlife, the potential reservoirs of the disease. Generally, fever, anorexia, hypersalivation, lacrimation and characteristic eruptions with painful nodules within the skin, on the muzzle and within the nasal and buccal mucous membranes, on the udder, on genital and rectal mucous membranes. The severe drop in milk production, also abortions, infertility and sometimes death are the clinical manifestations of the disease in a herd. Although the mortality rate is usually less than 10%, the disease morbidity rate can be as high as 100%. The economic significance of LSD is of great concern, given that it threatens international trade and could be used as bioterrorism weapon. Vaccination, strict quarantine measures, limited movement of livestock along with vectors control could be effective for preventing the spread of the disease. Homologous vaccines are more effective than sheeppox virus strain vaccines.
