Opis:
The article presents the VHF communications system architecture for inland navigation within the area of operation of the RIS-PL Centre. The author has described the communication system modules used in the RIS on the Lower Oder stretch and presented the relevant equipment specification. The present condition of the system has been described, taking into consideration the location of its components, both in the field and in the environment, of key importance for VHF communication. The feasibility of implementation of GMDSS subsystems for integrated navigational data transmission in maritime and inland navigation at the RIS-PL Centre has been discussed.

Opis:
Standard ECDIS configuration doesn’t foresee interaction with Digital Selective Calling (DSC) device. We propose a reasonable way to eliminate the drawbacks of existing VHF radiotelephony using DSC and obtain new advantages in communication and navigation in the frame of existing conventional installations. The proposed innovation is based on ECDIS software updating and the interconnection to DSC equipment. ECDIS modernization would get rid a navigator of the routine procedures and handling with abstract data replacing them by understandable actions on ECDIS display. The proposed integration gives new abilities for smart addressed VHF/DSC communication by estimating the current navigational situation around the ship that is especially important in congested ports, waterways and poor visibility regarding human factor. The proposed modernization retains in operation all standard DSC and ECDIS functions and provides full compatibility with commonly used non-integrated equipment. Financial expenses to its implementation for ship-owner are minimal due to only software updating and standard cabling.

Opis:
W artykule omówiono zagadnienie związane z wpływem przeplotu na rozkład błędów i efektywność kodów korekcyjnych podczas transmisji danych w kanale radiowym UKF.
The problem of interleaver influence on error distributions and effectiveness of error correcting coding during data transmission via VHF channels was discussed in the article. A special method based on analysis of current channel state, adaptive estimation of interleaver parameters and coding redundancy was proposed. LDPC (Low Density Parity Check) codes were applied in research and computer simulation. These codes are considered as the most effective for memoryless channels in which dispersed errors occur. Final simulation results were used to compare with measurement results obtained for PR4G radio (type RRC 9200 and RRC 9500) based on RS and BCH codes.

Opis:
It is proposed the description of interface for VHF/MF/HF for simplification of DSC communication for implementation in the frame of conception developments in GMDSS services, applied to Maritime Mobile Services. This interface is realized within its integration with INS by an appropriate way on the base of common communication protocol for all three DSC communication sub bands in standardized and harmonized format and significantly simplifies the DSC user interface. It is very important for application in Maritime services, including GMDSS services, VTS services and SAR service. Suggested approach for improving DSC communication is based on the three main outputs of e-navigation strategic direction development related to the integration of communication and navigation equipment/systems, including standardized mode of operation. Implementation of the standardization demands to include in this integration the satellite AIS system. The feasibility of the proposal is supported by the existence of relevant IEC standards and IMO documents.

Opis:
Digital selective calling (DSC) has a certain drawbacks, which have led to the fact that it is practically not used in address radio communications. Attempts to improve it only within the DSC system itself did not lead to any noticeable results due to neglecting of real user needs. The article proposes an approach to improve the user interface of DSC based on the integration of VHF MF/HF DSC equipment with the INS within the three main outputs of strategic direction of e-navigation development related to the integration of communication and navigation systems and, in particular, the S-mode. This approach allows us to significantly simplify the DSC user interface, based on the standardization of DSC integration for all three VHF MF/HF communication sub bands. For implementation such standardization an additional inclusion into the integration a satellite AIS system should be done. The feasibility of the proposal is supported by the existence of relevant IEC standards and IMO documents. The possibility of increasing the cyber security level of AIS messages in this interface is also considered.

Opis:
Audio watermarking (AW) technology is considered for stealthy information embedding directly into audio signal. Inherent in analog radiotelephone channel interferences against watermarks are analyzed. Robust encoding/decoding algorithms are presented and appropriate project of AW system named as Automatic Radio Telephone Identification System (ARTIS) is proposed. Experimental results for the practical VHF radio channel are presented. Relating on processing complexity the designed system enables imperceptibly transmit data on a rate up to 260 bit/sec in the standard VHF radio channel. ARTIS provides the full compatibility with the existing radio installation, and doesn’t require replacement of standard VHF transceivers and operational procedures. Besides, automatic identification the system may be used in the special applications, for example, under the threat of terrorist attack; generally contributes to navigation safety and information security.
