    The article is dedicated to the problem of urban marginalisation of the elderly reflected in literature. Through an evolutionary comparative approach, the treatment of the subject is shown in an Argentine novel by Ana María Shua, La muerte como efecto secundario, published in 1997, and a Spanish novel from the year 2020, Los ancianos siderales, by Luis Mateo Díez. Both books, concentrated around the issue of residential homes, can be perceived as prose of social denunciation. However, they represent different aesthetics and styles: an epistolary narrative in the form of a long monologue in the Argentine novel, belonging to the current of future anticipation fiction; and a choral literature of fractal aesthetics in the most recent book by the Spanish author, marked by a surrealist and oneiric approach. The article offers a comparison of the images of senectitude in both novels, then of the representations of care homes and, finally, describes the characteristics of the societies that allow and support this abusive system.

    Opis:
    The paper aims to juxtapose the literary portrayals of the socialist Warsaw and Francoist Madrid depicted in two postwar novels: The Man with the White Eyes by Leopold Tyrmand and The Hive by Camilo José Cela1, respectively. The starting point for the considerations is geopoetics and, more precisely, the concept of the sensory and emotive topographies. It is intended to demonstrate that the approach in question provides the tools adequate to analyse the configuration of Warsaw’s and Madrid’s urban spaces portrayed in Polish novels from the Polish People’s Republic period and Spanish novels from the Francoism period. The comparative approach, in turn, enables the juxtaposing of the research objects and gathering of the data useful for the purposes of Polish-Spanish intercultural studies, such as intercultural communication studies.

    The article analyses the representation of Medellín in Fernando Vallejo’s 2013 novel Casablanca la bella in the context of Zygmunt Bauman’s liquid modernity concept and other cultural theories of the urban, which can be applied to Colombia in the context of omnipresence of violence. The analysis proves that the narrator-protagonist, disappointed with the modernity in Colombian context, is incapable of accepting the changes that the city as well as the country have suffered during his life and uses the descriptions of the urban space for social criticism. The conclusion is that the narrator-protagonist obsessively tries to re-actualize the past and persists in linking to it as he does not see any point of reference in the present nor any positive perspective for Colombia in a foreseeable future.

    Opis:
    On the basis of two indecidable texts (Thomas Clerc, “Paris, musée du XXIe siècle. Le dixième arrondissement”, Gallimard 2007 and Philippe Vasset, “Un livre blanc”, Fayard 2007), we will reflect on new approaches to the city in contemporary French litterature. Clerc and Vasset, in their respective texts, suggest considering litterature as a series of practices connected with the exploration of the city (Clerc) and of the urban area (Vasset) according to the idea of an arbitrary itinerary. The image of the city whose space, subject to a permanent process of museification, is constantly considered to be a work of art (Clerc) contrasts with a project of viewing the deserted areas of the city and of its surroundings as an infinite collection of “artistic installations” created in daily life (Vasset). Clerc’s and Vasset’s artistic mentality leads them to the fascination with “works of involuntary art”, both concrete signs and tangible proof of the transitional period which they try to describe systematically, following, at the same time, the principles of an axonometric city map.

Quasi una Allemanda Artura Daniela Liskowackiego, która, mimo długiej obecności w literaturze regionalnej, krajowej i międzynarodowej nie doczekała się wnikliwszej analizy z perspektywy futbolu – centralnego wydarzenia powieściowej fabuły. Dokonując interpretacji z tak ustalonej perspektywy, Autor czyni przy okazji uwagi dotyczące zarówno sportu i, szerzej, doświadczenia cielesnego w literaturze, jak i znaczenia tego zjawiska dla tego typu pisarstwa, którego znakomity i szeroko uznawany przykład stanowi Eine kleine.
    In the article the Author focusses on the theme of soccer in Artur Daniel Liskowacki’s novel Eine kleine. Quasi una Allemanda. He points out the importance of this particular narrative thread for this now widely recognized classical representative of regional literature, which, albeit confirmed as such by critics – both journalistic and academic – in fact rarely receives much (interpretative) attention. Apart from filling in this evident lacuna in the already two-decades long debate over this outstanding and internationally appreciated novel, the Author offers some considerations on the problem of athletic experience as represented in literature in general, however paying particular attention to its role works such as ADL’s magnificent urban tale.

    The dichotomy of a „high style” and a „low style” goes back to Lomonosov's delineation of a „high style”, a „middle style”, and a „low style” in his famous Ritorika (1748), or- in the Czech setting to Jungmann's theory of styles formulated in his Slovesnost (1820). Though the trichotomy does not solve the problems in classifying styles and genres, the delineation of the three basie stylistic qualities still preserves it validity in the theory of linguistic practices (such as orthoepic variation, lexical choices, etc.), and does not lose its explanatory po- wer in folk linguistic considerations. The manifestations of „high” (elaborated) and „low” (restricted) discursive practices are illustrated using the analysis of a Czech „sophisticated crime novel” Stin katedraly (The Shadow of the Cathedra!) by Miloś Urban. In this novel, both practices characteristic of communication competencies of the two main heroes of the novel are linguistically represented, contrasted and hyperbolized.

    Artykuł stanowi próbę prześledzenia twórczości współczesnej, trzeciofalowej, francuskiej powieściopisarki, Virginii Despentes, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem zachodzących w niej na przestrzeni ubiegłych dwudziestu lat zmian. W pierwszej części przedstawiony zostaje zarys wczesnego etapu jej pisarstwa. Na pierwszy plan wysuwają się specyficzne dla kultury francuskiej końca ubiegłego stulecia kwestie kontekstualne: zwłaszcza zachodzących w relacji do rekonfiguracji francuskiego pola literackiego w połowie lat dziewięćdziesiątych przemian w strategii (samo) reprezentacji podmiotów wykluczonych z uwagi na ich rasowo-płciowo-klasowe usytuowanie, oraz wyłonienia się nurtu literatury opatrzonej mianem „trashowej”.Druga część stawia sobie za cel wydobycie queerowego aspektu ostatniego projektu Despentes. Przeprowadzona w oparciu o geopoetologiczne instrumentarium analiza utworu Apocalypse bébé dostarcza informacji na temat czasoprzestrzennych uwarunkowań (nie)normatywnych tożsamości głównych bohaterów. Autorska konstrukcja miejskiego chronotopu Paryża i Barcelony zestawiona zostaje z propozycjami badaczy kultury spod znaku krytycznych teorii queer, prowadząc do tezy o specyficznym ,,zwrocie utopijnym” zachodzącym w ostatniej powieści tej pisarki.
    The article is an attempt to investigate the contemporary creativity of the French, third wave feminist, and novel writer Virginie Despentes with a focuson changes taking place in her work over the last twenty years. The first part shows the scope of the early phase of her artistic activity, which, on the main level, deals with specific issues in the French culture of the last decade of the past century, especially those taking place in relation to the reconfiguration of the French literary field in the middle of the 1990s. Of particular importance are changes in approaches of those who were excluded or marginalized because of their race/gender/class position (most often femininists), including issues of self-representation and the appearance of the trash literature trend.The second part of the article takes as its goal enhancing the queer aspect of Despentes’ last project. It analyses Apocalypse bébé on the basis of geopoetical instrumentarium and presents information concerning the spatio-temporal dimensions of the (non)normative identities of the main characters. The authors construction of the urban chronotope of Paris and Barcelona is considered from a critical queer theory perspective, leading to the thesis of a specific utopian turn taking place in Despentes’ last novel.
