    „Gazeta Uniwersytecka UŚ” jest opiniotwórczym i kulturotwórczym biuletynem akademickim, który nieprzerwanie od 1992 r. opisuje bieżące sprawy, jubileusze oraz osiągnięcia studenckie, profesorskie, ogólnowydziałowe i uczelniane. Periodyk otwiera się na różne dziedziny i dyscypliny, publikując najważniejsze i najciekawsze wydarzenia. Na przestrzeni lat znaczna część zamieszczonego materiału dotyczyła zagadnień bibliologicznych i informatologicznych wpisujących się w system biblioteczno-informacyjny Uniwersytetu Śląskiego.
    “University Gazette: monthly magazine of University of Silesia in Katowice” is an opinion-forming and culture-forming academic bulletin which has continuously published current Artykuły 117 affairs, jubilees and student, professor, general and university achievements since 1992. The journal opens up to various fields and disciplines, publishing the most important and interesting events. Over the years, a significant part of the material has related to bibliological and information science issues that fit into the library and information system of the University of Silesia.

    Bibliotheksbestände werden durch Ankauf, Austausch, Pfl ichtexemplare und Schenkungen geschaffen. Aber das Geschenk als eine Weise, Dokumente für die Bibliothek zu gewinnen, ist nicht nur eine wertvolle Quelle zur Mehrung der Sammlungen, sondern hat wegen seines unterschiedlichen Charakters großen Einfl uss auf die Umgestaltung der Sammlungen in reich ausgestattete wissenschaftliche Einrichtungen. Die von den Bibliotheken erhaltenen Büchergeschenke weckten schon immer das Interesse sowohl der Bibliothekare als auch der Benutzer, nicht nur wegen der weitreichenden Thematik und der breiten Interessengebiete der Spender, sondern auch wegen der Spender selbst. Im Unterschied zum Ankauf und zum Austausch bilden die Bücherspenden eine Gruppe von Bib-liotheksmaterial, die eine besonders eindringliche Beurteilung der Brauchbarkeit erfordert. Die von der Theologischen Bibliothek der Schlesischen Universität (UŚ) als Einzelexemplare oder in größeren Mengen als Schenkung erhaltenen Bücher stellen einen wertvollen Erwerb dar, insofern sie aus wertvollen Dokumenten bestehen oder bewusst ausgewählte Schriftgutquellen bilden. Im Laufe der letzten Jahre wurde beobachtet und analysiert, warum die Spender der Bibliothek Bücher schenken. Hauptsächlich sind das Bestände liquidierter Bibliotheken oder Zweigstellen; einen weiteren Grund bilden die räumlichen, personellen oder finanziellen Beschränkungen von Institutionen, die über viele Bücher verfügen. Manchmal ändert sich die Organisationsstruktur der Einrichtung, sie erhält ein neues Profi l oder ändert ihre Spezialisierung. Neuentstandene Verlage wollen den Markt erobern und verschenken daher manchmal Bücher. Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiter gehen in Rente, oder eine bestimmte Forschungsetappe wird abgeschlossen. Die Bücher verstorbener Familienmitglieder werden gespendet, oder wenn sich die familiäre Situation ändert und zu wenig Platz im Haus ist. Manchmal werden Lücken in den Beständen von ständigen Lesern oder auch von den Autoren selbst gefüllt. Man sieht also, dass die Theologische Bibliothek sowohl von Institutionen als auch von Privatpersonen Bücher erhält. Zu den die Bibliothek beim Vervollständigen ihrer Bestände unterstützenden Institutionen gehören Verlage, Zeitschriftenredaktionen, wissenschaftliche Gesellschaften, wissenschaftliche Forschungseinrichtungen, Museen, kirchliche Einrichtungen und Ordensgemeinschaften. Die Bestände der Theologischen Bibliothek wachsen auch durch Zuwendungen in Form von Hinterlassenschaften weltlicher und geistlicher Gelehrter. Ohne Rücksicht auf ihre Herkunft stellen die Bücherspenden eine Einnahmequelle dar, die vor Aufnahme in die Bibliothek eine genaue Selektion erfordert. Die Aufnahme geeigneter Bücher geschieht gemeinsam durch eine aus Spezialisten der verschiedensten Bereiche bestehende Kommission, die nur die wertvollsten Bücher auswählt.

    Opis:
    Der Ankauf, der Tausch und das Pfl ichtexemplar bilden die Grundformen der Entwicklung des Bibliotheksbestandes. Der Ankauf ist in der Theologischen Bibliothek der Schlesischen Universität die zweitgrößte, neben des Tausches und der Schenkungen, Form der Gewinnung der Dokumente. Er ist durch zwei unabhängige Finanzierungsquellen bedingt. Der Großteil der fi nanziellen Mittel stammt aus dem Ordinariat der Erzdiözese Katowice und ist für die Erweiterung des Grundbestandes und des Handapparats im Lesesaal bestimmt. Mit Hilfe der aus der Universität stammenden Mittel wird die spezialistische Literatur erworben, die für die an der Theologischen Fakultät geführte Forschung notwendig ist. Die Politik der laufenden Erwerbungen wird von den wissenschaftlichen Mitarbeitern der Universität, in enger Zusammenarbeit der Bibliothekangestellten gestaltet. Der Vorgang der Bestellung selbst wird von den Bibliothekaren durchgeführt und koordiniert. Auf den Bestelllisten befinden sich sowohl polnische als auch fremdsprachige Titel, die sowohl in der traditionellen Buchform wie auch in der elektronischen Form herausgegeben sind. Die Bibliothek verfügt über die Möglichkeit des selbständigen Ankaufs der neu erschienenen Titel und der Wahl der Ankaufsquelle. Das erleichtert die Erweiterung der Buchsammlung und beschleunigt sie wesentlich.

    W związku ze stopniowymi zmianami w postrzeganiu misji uniwersyte-tów i ich zwrotem w kierunku polepszania jakości kształcenia celem nadrzędnym artykułu autorki uczyniły sposoby realizacji tego zadania z perspektywy studentów Uniwersytetu Śląskiego w Katowicach, a szczególnie – Instytutu Bibliotekoznawstwa i Informacji Naukowej. Zagadnienie analizowano za pomocą badań ankietowych na próbie 86 osób. Respondenci zaznaczyli w kwestionariuszach obszary działalności, które zostały uporządkowane w czterech grupach problemowych. Na podstawie zgro-madzonych danych i sformułowanych wniosków autorki zaproponowały kilka prak-tycznych rozwiązań służących udoskonaleniu przestrzeni akademickiej. Znajomość oczekiwań, o które zostali zapytani IBiIN-owicze, może być pomocna podczas ustalania strategii rozwoju dalszych inicjatyw instytutowych realizowanych przez jednostkę macie-rzystą oraz działające z jej ramienia Koło Naukowe Infologów.
    Having witnessed the gradual changes in the perception of the mission of the university and the turn towards improving the curriculum, the primary aim of this study has been to look at this issue from the perspective of the students at the University of Silesia in Katowice, in particular at the Institute of Library and Information Science. The study has been based on a survey in which there were 86 participants. The participants pointed to particular spheres of activity which have been then divided into four areas of interest. On the basis of the collected data as well as the conclusions drawn from the survey, the study has proposed and con-tributed to the implementation of several practical solutions aimed at improving the academia. Familiarity with the expectations voiced by the students at the Institute of Library and Information Science can be helpful in constructing further development initiatives within the Institute as well as the Faculty and the associated Information Science Student Research Circle

The text familiarizes the reader with the history of the organization, characterizes all scholarly meetings which were heretofore held by the Circle and presents the perspectives for further activities.

    Libraries are institutions whose purpose is not only to collect, develop and make accessible various materials. They are also institutions which are responsible for securing valuable collections which represent scholarly, historical or artistic merit. The object of the work has to do with the activities of the Theological Library of the University of Silesia, understood in this case as collecting books of clergymen in order to maintain national heritage for further generations.

    Analiza bibliometryczna publikacji członków Koła Naukowego Bibliotekoznawców przy Instytucie Bibliotekoznawstwa i Informacji Naukowej Uniwersytetu Śląskiego w Katowicach (2007–2016) Abstrakt: W artykule zanalizowano publikacje członków Koła Naukowego Bibliotekoznawców działającego przy Instytucie Bibliotekoznawstwa i Informacji Naukowej Uniwersytetu Śląskiego w Katowicach, opublikowane w latach 2007–20161. W analizie zwrócono uwagę na liczbę ogłoszonych przez studentów tekstów wydanych w poszczególnych latach, ujawniając tendencje wzrostowe i spadkowe. Wyszczególniono typy publikacji naukowych członków Koła (elektroniczne i tradycyjne; redakcja książek, autorstwo rozdziałów w książkach oraz artykułów w czasopismach i przestrzeni internetowej). Zbadano zjawisko autorstwa i wieloautorstwa występującego w analizowanych materiałach. Ponadto dokonano podziału tematyki tekstów według Uniwersalnej Klasyfikacji Dziesiętnej.
    The article analyses the publications of the members of the Student’s Circle of Library Scientists which operates at the Institute of Library Science and Scholarly Information of the University of Silesia in Katowice, published in the years 2007–20166. The analysis indicates the number of texts which were published by students in the particular years, manifesting upward and downward trends. One enumerated the types of the scholarly publications of the members of the Circle (electronic and traditional ones; editorship of books, authorship of chapters in books and articles in periodicals and on the internet). One examined the phenomenon of the authorship and the multi-authorship which is manifested in the materials which were analysed. One also presented a division of the subject matter of the texts according to the Universal Decimal Classification.

    Czasopisma naukowe pełnią różne funkcje w środowisku uczonych, m.in.: stwarzają przestrzeń dla komunikacji społeczności naukowej, dają pierwszeństwo w ogłaszaniu wyników badań, są pomocne w ocenie literatury naukowej. Wydawnictwa ciągłe mogą być także inspiracją dla rozkwitu samej nauki. Za bazą Arianta przyjmujemy, że w Polsce wydawane są 84 tytuły z dziedziny bibliotekoznawstwa i informacji naukowej; jednym z nich jest „Nowa Biblioteka. Usługi, Technologie Informacyjne i Media” (do 2014 r. „Nowa Biblioteka. Zeszyty Monograficzne Koła Naukowego Bibliotekoznawców Uniwersytetu Śląskiego”). Czasopismo Koła Naukowego Bibliotekoznawców Uniwersytetu Śląskiego w Katowicach do końca 2015 r. było jedynym periodykiem bibliotekoznawczych kół naukowych znajdującym się na liście czasopism punktowanych Ministerstwa Nauki i Szkolnictwa Wyższego – Części B. Biorąc to pod uwagę, dokonano analizy bibliometrycznej czasopisma. Materiałem badawczym objęto wszystkie publikacje zamieszczone w periodyku od momentu powstania do 2015 r. Wydawnictwo ciągłe poddano szerokiemu badaniu, uwzględniając cechy formalne i treściowe – co zastosowano tylko do działu Artykuły i komunikaty – ukazując tym samym kierunki badań naukowców. Przedstawiono zmiany statystyczne „Nowej Biblioteki” oraz prognozowane kierunki rozwoju.
    In the community of scholars scholarly periodicals perform various functions, inter alia they create a space for communication in the said community, they are the first outlet where results of research may be published or they are helpful in the evaluation of scholarly literature. Serial publications may also furnish inspiration for the flourishing of scholarship itself. After the Arianta database we assume that in Poland 84 library science and scholarly information periodicals are published. One of such titles is “Nowa Biblioteka. Usługi, Technologie Informacyjne i Media” (until 2014 known as “Nowa Biblioteka. Zeszyty Monograficzne Koła Naukowego Bibliotekoznawców Uniwersytetu Śląskiego”). Until the end of 2015 the periodical of the Student Association of Library Scientists of the University of Silesia in Katowice was the only periodical of student library science associations on the citation index list of periodicals of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education – Part B. By taking these reasons into account one performed a bibliometrical analysis of the periodical. The study material involved all publications featured in the periodical since its establishment in 2015. Serial publications were studied in depth. The formal and content-related features were taken into account, which in this case applied only to the part Artykuły i komunikaty [Articles and reports], thus showing the directions of research of scholars. The statistical changes of the “Nowa Biblioteka” were presented as well as the estimated directions of development.

    Opis:
    W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań sondażowych wykonanych w 2021 r., których celem było poznanie źródeł informacji wykorzystanych przez studentów Uniwersytetu Śląskiego w Katowicach na temat kierunku informacja naukowa i bibliotekoznawstwo. Dzięki metodom ilościowej oraz jakościowej przeanalizowano źródła informacji o kierunku, a także motywacje studentów do podjęcia studiów, ich plany zawodowe po zakończeniu nauki oraz oczekiwania wobec uczelni, której zadaniem jest przygotowanie ich do uczestnictwa w rynku pracy. Wyniki badań mogą posłużyć dalszemu rozwojowi kierunku oraz zapoczątkowaniu dyskusji na temat zmian w procesie komunikacji ze studentem
    The article presents the results of the survey conducted in 2021, the purpose of which was to learn about the sources of information used by students of the University of Silesia in Katowice on the field of Science Information and Library Science. With these quantitative and qualitative methods, the sources of information about the course were analyzed, as well as students’ motivations to start studies, their career plans after graduation and expectations towards the university, whose task is to prepare them for participation in the labor market. The results of the research can be used for the further development of the field of study and initiate a discussion on changes in the process of communication with the student

    Opis:
    The Electronic Database of the Theological Sciences was established by the Federation of the Polish Church Libraries FIDES in cooperation with the National Library in 2011. In the bibliography the following items are indexed: the content of Polish theological and religious journals as well as the magazines discussing, broadly understood, church sciences issues. The bibliography includes both academic articles and the ones intended for the general public. In addition, it contains selected joint works, publishing series, jubilee books, conference material etc. Although theological journals are the core of the bibliography, it is also possible to find a number of works on general humanistic and social issues. The publications included in the bibliography are mainly released by church universities, theological faculties as well as diocesan and monastic research institutions. The chronology of the database covers literature from 1980 onwards; however, due to the fact that the whole titles are analysed, sometimes the texts from previous years may also be encountered. Currently, the database operates in the Koha system, which allows efficient work on creating and supplementing the bibliography. Furthermore, the system significantly facilitates the information search process.
    Elektroniczna Baza Nauk Teologicznych powstała w 2011 roku i jest tworzona przez Federację Bibliotek Kościelnych FIDES we współpracy z Biblioteką Narodową. W bibliografii indeksowana jest zawartość polskich czasopism teologicznych, religioznawczych i z szerzej rozumianych nauk kościelnych, zarówno naukowych jak i popularnonaukowych. Ponadto zamieszczane są wybrane prace zbiorowe, serie wydawnicze, księgi jubileuszowe, materiały konferencyjne itp. Pomimo, że najważniejszą oraz najobszerniejszą część bibliografii stanowią czasopisma teologiczne, to jednak można tu również odnaleźć wiele pozycji o charakterze ogólnohumanistycznym i społecznym. Obejmuje głównie publikacje wydawane przez uczelnie kościelne i wydziały teologiczne oraz diecezjalne i zakonne instytucje naukowe. Zasięg chronologiczny bazy obejmuje zasadniczo piśmiennictwo od roku 1980, choć niektóre tytuły są opracowane w całości i dlatego czasem można napotkać także teksty pochodzące z lat wcześniejszych. Obecnie baza działa w systemie Koha, co pozwala na sprawne prowadzenie prac związanych z tworzeniem i uzupełnianiem bibliografii oraz znacznie upraszcza proces wyszukiwania informacji.
