- This article analyses the activity of Stado Prusa, a group of photography students established at the then Department (currently, Faculty) of Photography at the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts in Poznań (UAP). The group (Marek Noniewicz, Paweł Kula, Maciej Krych, and others) was active for only three years and did not survive long after its members’ graduation. The author describes their mode of operation as grouping and studies the institutional context (the education system, the master-disciple relationship) behind their activity. This is an interesting case. On the one hand, Stado Prusa represented a critical and anarchistic attitude towards university as educational institution and its artistic aspirations. On the other hand, the group met and was formed at the university whose lecturers also had an influence on its members. The text explores what conditions are necessary for such social and artistic initiatives to survive. The unfolding analysis is based on the memories and archival materials of the Stado Prusa members.
