Opis:
The article studies the fate of Kazakhstan versions of the well-known Turkic epic “Edige”. Written recordings of the epic made in the 19th century by Ch. Valikhanov were promulgated by P.M. Melioranskij. Its Kazakh language later versions based on the Kazakh storytellers’ pieces were all forgotten for decades because of the notorious ideological struggle against the “feudal heritage”. And only since the 80's and 90's of the 20th century Kazakhstani researchers have had the opportunity to study the epic thoroughly and introduce it into scientific discourse. Among the works published in the post-Soviet period are the retransliterated variant of the Valikhanov-Melioranskij, record performed by E. Magauin and the works of Kazakh researchers such as R. Berdibay and Zh. Asanov which deserve today special attention. Purpose. The researchers of those countries whose cultural heritage includes the folk Turkic epic legend “Edige” (“Idige”), created in the Middle Ages, found in written versions or recorded based on words of folk narrators, should unite efforts to create the archetypal basis of this masterpiece. Methods. General scientific methods of analysis and generalization of theoretical material, the comparative method and elements of textual analysis have been used in our work. In particular, we have analyzed theoretical works of Kazakh researchers, and also referred to comparative analysis of the “Edige” epic represented in its various Kazakhstani versions. In the process of comparative textual analysis, phrases selected from a fragment of the epic legend have been divided into speech cycles. In the Ch. Valikhanov’s legend version manuscript, the archaic usage of words (word forms and phrases) and their lexical substitutions (synonymous) by the elements of later Kazakh language have been revealed. The semantics of lexical and phraseological means have been refined according to the dictionaries of modern Kazakh language. At the following stage, the grammatical (morphemic, morphological and syntactic) structure of the manuscript and the latest version of the epic piece have been compared. As a result, outdated and oral-spoken grammatical forms and their modern equivalents standardized from the point of view of written-literary language have been identified. Results. The article based on the Kazakh sources describes the history and circumstances of producing the Kazakh medieval epic “Edige” versions, which is the folk spiritual heritage of a number of Turkic nations (Nogai, Kazakh, Tatar, Bashkir, Karakalpak). Comparative analysis of a fragment of the original manuscript by Ch. Valikhanov retransliterated at the end of the 20th century by E. Magauin and the Kazakh transcriptions made by K. Satpayev as well as by other scholars in the early 20th century, have revealed some late changes that violate the archaic structure of the epic. It has been stated that these changes were applied to the text of the epic “Edige” in order to facilitate its perception by the modern Kazakh reader. The prospects for this research can be defined as further systematization of all written epic “Edige” versions stored in libraries and manuscript collections of Kazakhstan, Karakalpakstan, Karachay-Cherkessia, Tatarstan and Bashkortostan; creating a single text of the epic close to the archetypal one. In addition, it is necessary to prepare the publication of the epic “Edige”, supplied with detailed philological, historical and cultural comments, based on the analysis of all written versions, including those that were recorded later based on folk narrators stories.

Opis:
This case study examines the bilingualism of the prominent Russian Muslim newspaper of the late nineteenth to early twentieth centuries, known as the Perevodchik-Terjiman (literally “Translator” or “Interpreter”) by means of discourse analysis. This newspaper was published from 1883 to 1918 in Crimea, until 1914 by Ismail Gasprinskii (1851‒1914), a prominent enlightener of Russian Muslims. Until December 1905, the newspaper was issued in two languages–Russian and so-called common-Turkic. The latter language was unsuccessfully intended to become a common literary language for Russian Muslims. Despite the declarations, the parallel articles in Russian and Turkic barely presented direct translations from one language to another. On the contrary, there were significant differences. The differences in Russian and Turkic narratives were not markers of opposing intentions or obscure meanings. It is argued here that this feature can be qualified as an instance of cultural bilingualism, which reflected the multiculturalism of the newspaper’s heterogeneous audience.

In this study an analysis of the phonetic adaptation of Arabic and Persian loan-words in Ottoman Turkish is continued (for the vocalic part of the analysis see Stachowski M. [forthcoming]). Five phenomena are presented in the context of the general Turkic phonetic evolution.
The aim of this paper is to present and analyze the content of two folk songs called Türkü, which were copied into handwritten books by Karaims living in the Crimea in the 19th century. For the purpose of this paper I have chosen songs which appear in more than one manuscript in order to make a comparatison of the literary content and linguistic properties of the works in question. Karaim manuscripts were copied in different locations throughout the Peninsula, which affected the vernacular used by the copyists. Moreover, no standard literary language was used by all Karaim communities. It is due to these reasons, among others, that the aforementioned songs were bound to differ from one another.

Opis:
In this article, the author describes the nature of the 1840/1841 Turkic Karaim translation of the Bible, published at Gözleve / Jevpatorija, and especially, the translation of Nehemia, the last book in this publication. The author tries to identify the translator / copyist of Nehemia, who was working on the MS in 1672 in Mangup, having been based himself on the colophon, and surmised that the rest of the Bible translation may come from a MS copied by the same copyist. The author further speculates why the publisher of the Gözleve edition chose this particular MS. In order to define the Turkic language of the translation, the author goes in details about the earlier Jewish – both Rabbanite and Karaite – population of Çufut-Qal‘eh in the Crimea; his conclusion is that the earlier population was mostly immigrants from the North (the Duchy of Lithuania) and their language could not be originally any sort of Crimean Turkic. In the article, the author publishes and republishes different Judeo-Turkic Karaite Biblical translations and tombstone inscriptions.

The Antique Silk Road aims to establish a trade and infrasture network that connects Europe and Africa to Asia beyond trade routes. For 21st Century Modern Silk Road will create new opportunies for all member states in this project. Also, China will have big advantage and economical development and the world trade productions will transport better safely, fast and on time to the destination countries. When we look at from Central Asia and Western Asia Countries pespectives, Turkic Republics are geographically located in the first circle of this Project. Although it is clear that China’s growing influence as an economic force will be felt globally, the most difficult of the project will be the Turkic Republics, which will take the first place in case the project is successful or fails. The increase of China’s economic influence in the medium and long term, the free movement of goods, money and labor force has the potential to disrupt the population balance of the Turkic Republics. The stability of the Turkic Republics, which is a buffer zone between Russia and China, not only for these republics, but also for Russia’s security, The preservation of the population balance of the Turkic Republics and its borders with China is not an issue to be left to the Turkic Republics only. About this subject, the fact that there is a need for close cooperation should be taken into account by Russia, Turkey and Turkic Republics. Turkey Project will finance the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, which will become a founding partner, Turkey attended this Project`s Summit in China and it is interested very closely with this Project. The loss of confidence in Turkey’s western allies for the last ten years, the west has pushed Turkey to seek the support of Russia and China in balancing the world. Via Turkic Republics Turkey will connect to China, Apart from Iran through a reliable line with this project (China-Central Asia-Caspian Sea-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey) the opportunity to reach the reunion to this new economic center of power in Asia.
