    The church press published important documents regarding the religious life  of Romanians from Transylvania and Banat. This publication also included details regarding the religious life of the school from Banat. The Biserica şi Şcoala magazinewas published in the western historical Banat, in Arad. This was possible due to the fact that Timisoara, the most important city in Banat, had a Romanian Orthodox Deanery that was dependent on the Diocese of Arad, before the establishment of the Diocese of Timisoara in 1939.The Caransebes Diocese’ magazine Foaia Diecezană (The Diocesan Sheet) provided the clergy and the faithful with information on Christian spirituality. Along the aforementioned magazines, there were a few newspapers which have enriched this field's literature. Based on those covered by the study, we find that the media made an overwhelming contribution to the dissemination of the biblical information during that particular period of time.

    The preventive archaeological research that has been carried out in recent years in the historical area of Timisoara constituted the context for conducting a sociological study regarding the perception of permanent residents and visitors to the city of Timisoara, on these researches, both in terms of the legislative framework in which preventive archaeological investigations are carried out, their way of organization, but especially regarding their impact on the cultural heritage of the city. A separate category of subjects, individualized within the target group of the research, is the students. Our analysis follows the perception of 360 students, highlighting both their level of information and knowledge regarding the archaeological research carried out in Timisoara, but also their opinions regarding the impact and usefulness of this type of investigation for the cultural heritage and for the city of Timisoara. After analyzing the results, we could find that most students expressed themselves in favor of this type of archaeological investigation, perceived as necessary and useful, with an impact especially on local history, which should be restored and valued. The conclusions of the study are important in our opinion, as they reflect the perception of a significant category of the population, namely students (mostly young people, aged between 18-28).

    Po upadku socjalizmu w Europie Środkowo-Wschodniej ekonomiści i międzynarodowe instytucje sugerowali, by kluczowa role w transformacji od gospodarki planowej do wolnorynkowej odegrały bezpośrednie inwestycje zagraniczne (BIZ). Celem artykułu jest pokazanie roli BIZ w rumuńskim miescie Timișoara. Miasto jest drugim najbardziej atrakcyjnym miejscem dla BIZ w Rumunii. Timișoara leży w zachodniej części kraju. Należy do najszybciej rozwijających sie miast rumuńskich. Lokalnym władzom udało sie przyciągnąć wielu inwestorów, przede wszystkim z Włoch i z Niemiec. Dla inwestorów są atrakcyjne: bliskość do Europy Zachodniej, niskie koszty pracy, wysoko wykwalifikowana siła robocza, duża liczba studiującej młodzieży oraz polityczna stabilizacja. Mieszkańców regionu charakteryzują przedsiębiorczość i otwartość. Przykład Timișoary pokazuje, ze pozytywna role w przyciągnięciu inwestycji może odegrać powinowactwo kulturowe i wspólne dziedzictwo historyczne.
    After the collapse of socialism in the Central and Eastern Europe economists and international institutions suggested that the key role in the transformation from the planned economy to the market economy should be played by Foreign Direct Investments (FDI). The purpose of this article is presentation of the role of FDI in the Romanian city of Timișoara. The city is the second most attractive to FDIs in Romania. Timișoara lies in the western part of the country. It belongs to the fastest developing cities in Romania. Local authorities have managed to attract many investors, mainly from Italy and Germany. They were attracted first of all by proximity to the Western Europe, low labour costs, highly qualified human resources, a large number of students and political stabilization. The inhabitants of this region are characterized by entrepreneurship and openness. Example of Timișoara also shows that the cultural affnity and the common heritage play a positive role in attracting investments.

    Pojawienie się obszarów kryzysowych w miastach krajów postsocjalistycznych to z jednej strony wynik transformacji, przejścia od gospodarki planowej do rynkowej, które spowodowało upadek wielu tradycyjnych przemysłów, a z drugiej – rezultat zaniedbań w poprzednim okresie. Rewitalizacja ma za zadanie ożywić gospodarczo i społecznie oraz przywrócić ład przestrzenny w zdegradowanych fragmentach miasta. Timişoara leży w zachodniej części Rumunii. Miasto należy do najlepiej rozwijających się miast rumuńskich, przyciąga wielu inwestorów. Większość obszarów przemysłowych jest przekształcana prawidłowo. Jednocześnie dzielnice historyczne z bogatym kulturowym dziedzictwem są zdegradowane. Szacuje się, że aż kilkanaście tysięcy budynków wymaga renowacji. Pierwsze rezultaty działań rewitalizacyjnych są już widoczne: niektóre zabytki wyremontowano, a place Zwycięstwa i Jedności stały się atrakcyjnymi przestrzeniami publicznymi zarówno dla mieszkańców, jak i dla turystów.
    The emergence of crisis areas in the cities of post-socialist countries on the one hand is the result of the transformation, the transition from the planned economy to the market economy, which caused the collapse of many traditional industries and, on the other hand, is the result of the lack of conservation works in the previous period. The revitalization aims to enliven economically and socially and to restore order in the degraded part of the city. Timișoara is located in the western part of Romania. The city belongs to the best developing Romanian cities attracting foreign investors. Most industrial areas is converted correctly. At the same time, historic quarters with their rich cultural heritage are threatened with decay. It is estimated that as many as several thousand buildings require renovation. The first results of the revitalization are already visible – some monuments are renovated and Victory and Unity squares have become attractive public spaces both for inhabitants and for tourists.

    This paper presents the results of Poaceae pollen seasons from 2000–2010 in Timisoara, Romania. Airborne Poaceae pollen concentrations was high. An increasing trend in the annual totals was observed. The longest pollen season was recorded in the year 2000. The period in which the Poaceae pollen count exceeded the threshold value of 30 grains/m3 lasted from 9 to 46 days. The present study analyzed the dynamics of pollen seasons in relation to meteorological factors. On the basis of Spearman’s correlation test, the strongest positive correlation was found between the Poaceae pollen counts and temperature; and sunshine hours. Daily average relative humidity, atmospheric pressure and precipitation had a negative effect. A multiple regression analysis was applied to determine how much of the total variance in Poaceae pollen counts can be explained by meteorological parameters. The coefficient of determination ranged from 0.245 to 0.460. Our data illustrate the contrasting effects of temperature, wind, relative humidity and rainfall on the concentration of pollen in the air. The optimum conditions for Poaceae pollen release occur during late spring and early summer. The Poaceae pollen remains one of the major aeroallergens in Timisoara area.
    Praca przedstawia wyniki analizy sezonów pyłkowych Poaceae w latach 2000–2010 w mieście Timisoara w Rumunii. W badanym okresie stężenie ziaren pyłku Poaceae w powietrzu było wysokie. Najdłuższy sezon pyłkowy zanotowano w roku 2000. Obserwowano tendencję wzrostową w sumach rocznych pyłku traw. Okres, w którym suma ziaren pyłku Poaceae przekraczała wartość progową, wynoszącą 30 ziaren/m3, trwał od 9 do 46 dni. Analiza dynamiki sezonów pyłkowych Poaceae na tle czynników meteorologicznych wykazała korelację dodatnią pomiędzy sumami ziaren pyłku Poaceae a temperaturą i usłonecznieniem. Korelację ujemną stwierdzono pomiędzy sumami ziaren pyłku a średnią dobową wilgotnością względną powietrza, ciśnieniem atmosferycznym oraz opadami atmosferycznymi. Zastosowano analizę regresji wielokrotnej, aby określić, jaką część całkowitej zmienności sum ziaren pyłku Poaceae można wyjaśnić parametrami meteorologicznymi. Współczynnik determinacji wahał się od 0.245 do 0.460. Wykazano negatywny wpływ temperatury, wiatru, wilgotności względnej i opadów na stężenie pyłku w powietrzu. Optymalne warunki do pylenia Poaceae występują późną wiosną i wczesnym latem. Pyłek traw jest jednym z głównym aeroalergenów w Rumunii.

    Opis:
    Timişoara became a rightful provincial capital of an Austrian domain during the 18th Century. In this period an important number of citizens chose to build and run inns or taverns  as landlords or just as leaseholders. The archive documents from Timişoara put together the puzzle pieces that recreate the stories of old public houses; they also contain information regarding all sorts of activities connected to the microcosm of taverns. Therefore the aim of this paper is to discover who the owners of inns were, why did they choose this trade and what was their place in Timişoara’s society. The clientele, less highlighted in documents, also plays a role through the choices of spending their leisure time in such places, through activities they fancied: music, gambling, billiards, bowling and the products they ordered for consumption. All these aspects enable us  to shed light one of the most vivid parts of 18th century urban life.
