Opis:
This article analyzes the relationship, according to Aegidius Romanus, between spiritual power and temporal power. From the point of view of the Augustinian author, the autonomy of the world or that of second causes, following St. Thomas Aquinas, must be respected, so that the motions of nature are not usually hampered by any extraordinary intervention. However, this intervention will always be possible in the form of a miracle and according to a special law. Similarly, temporal power normally follows its own goals, without interventions ab extra, nevertheless, the Pope’s plenitude of power can suspend, if necessary (in casu), the power of the secular princes.

Opis:
In the third year of his fight against Rome (134/135 CE), Bar Kokhba minted coins with the slogan “leḥerut Yerushalayim: For the freedom of Jerusalem”. In this paper, I argue that what was meant by this expression was not the geographic place but a powerful idea: the worship center of the Jewish identity. Jerusalem as a slogan seems to be a metonymy for the temple, and the temple was the link between God and the Jews. By proclaiming the necessity to liberate Jerusalem, Bar Kokhba actually tried to regroup all the Jews under his banner, exploiting the theocratic ideals and the eschatological hopes of the time. However, the documents found in the desert reveal that this propagandist expectancy was not universally shared by his own troops. For the political needs of the leader, “Jerusalem” was probably the best slogan possible, but it appears to have meant little in real life, even perhaps in the eyes of Bar Kokhba himself.

Opis:
The idea of enthronement of Christ the King is a very complex problem and impossible to unambiguously assess. However, you can look at it as an unusual and even groundbreaking event. The subject of this article is to show the charges against which the work of enthronement of Christ the King in Poland had to face and their critical assessment. Three main accusations against the idea of enthronement were elaborated in the study: the accusation of forming a Catholic state, the accusation of appropriating the category of the nation by supporters of enthronement and the charge of establishing theocratic order in Poland. The above arguments of the opponents of this work and discussions around them led to the fact that the Polish society was dared to take up a new discourse regarding the place of religion in public space. However, there is no solid justification showing the legitimacy of the above allegations in the public debate. Often the arguments of the opponents of the work of the enthronement of Christ the King are presented in terms anxiety or fear, which have little to do with a substantive discussion on this subject.

Opis:
This paper covers the reflections of Mother Maria on Vladimir Solovyov’s key philosophical concepts — including Allunity and Panunity, Sophia, Divine Humanity, good and evil, theocracy, and the Russian Idea — included in Światopogląd Władimira Sołowiowa [Vladimir Solovyov’s Weltanschauung]. It also hints her judgement on the role and legacy of the author of A Story of Anti-Christ within the history of philosophy. Skobstova’s conviction of persisting impact of Solovyov’s philosophy is rooted in his task to prevail over the destructive tendency present in European philosophy, which has resulted in the crisis of understanding of the world. Skobtsova analyses and comments upon Solovyov’s thought not as a distancedscholar of Russian culture, but rather as an apprentice following her master, who does not restrain from engaging in polemics with him. Her turn to verification and re-interpretation is especially visible in those comments which are concerned with the particular aspects of Solovyov’s concept of the Russian Idea. The starting point for Skobtsova’s analysis is provided by the events of the October Revolution. As the paper claims, the confrontation of Solovyov’s thought with the post-1917 reality has not reached success. Solovyov is convinced that that the mission of the Russian czar is to unify humanity, while the Church of the future will reach its centre in the person of a pope in Rome, rather than in the Russian Orthodox Church, which should deprive itself of the claim for supremacy and singularity; against him, Mother Maria reminds us that the czar abdicated in 1917, while the Orthodox Church — after reinstating the Patriarchy — began to restore. The Russian Idea, as Skobtsova argues, has not found a confirmation in the Russian nation and happened to fail. With regard to those facts, she reaches a premise confirming her view that the way of future development of humanity — which aims at realising God’s will — can be only indicated by the Orthodox Russia with its religion of Divine Humanity.

What has been less visible to observers over more than Iran’s thirty years political events or, in other words, what was actually formed the motivation power of government system after the 1979 revolution, was located under the shadow of a vast tree of religion, is a kind of xenophobia and, in its particular form, is anti-Western. It can be argued that the contents, capacity and role of this religion without any “anti-Western” anticipation were useless and deficient to the Iranian Shiite rulers. The basis of the discussion in this article is the context in which a kind of anti-modernization grew from within and became the dominant discourse of society headed by traditional clergy. What is being discussed in this article is to fingers on the main stimulus and the central tool of production of legitimacy, and its role and application in conjunction with the political ideology of rule in Iran. In this regard, the present article seeks to explain how this primary stimulus has evolved and how it is used as a political tool but in the form of ideology.

A dream, that of freedom, inspires Ati, the central character of 2084. The End of the World, a novel published in 2015, in France, by Boualem Sansal, an Algerian author. In this work, ‘the end of the world’ has taken place. The powers of the North have been wiped out. Only one country survives, the ‘Abistan’, a theocratic empire based on ‘Acceptance’, the religion of this entity. No deviance is tolerated. The title refers to George Orwell’s novel, 1984, published in 1949, in England. The subtitle suggests that all freedom has disappeared. One individual, however, Ati, began to glimpse the ‘mystery of freedom’. This dream lives in him now. How is it translated into this story by an irrepressible aspiration, by a feverish quest and a vain research?
