Opis:
The article begins with the statement based on current research, that Poznań 1956 protests are little represented in literature. Subsequently, the article analyses the construction of character and temporal composition of several novels about the Poznań 1956 protests. The novels are arranged chronologically and divided into two parts: censored ones and those published without official approval and censorship. The first group includes Jeszcze miłość by Bogusław Kogut, Odyseja, odyseja by Marian Grześczak and Wióry by Krystyna Kofta. The second group includes Krótki żywot bohatera pozytywnego by Piotr Guzy, Ciemnia by Bogusława Latawiec, Krew by Andrzej Górny, and Węzeł by Józef Ratajczak. The first group, true to the course of history, represent the rise of the political thaw and the party regaining control over situation. The second group, because of the time of writing, cover a longer time and tend to universalize the theme. In novelistic representations of Poznań 1956 protests there are two strains: uprising-themed and strike-themed. It turns out that the latter is the least present, because most novelistic characters are party-members and intelligentsia, whereas workers and ordinary people are relegated to the background. Plotlines are arranged biographically, not chronologically, because the novels are narrated as internal monologues with retrospective memories. The novels written by authors from Poznań, or related to Poznań, focus on the provintial character of the city, as opposed to the centralist influence of Warsaw.

The author focuses her attention on explicite and implicite connections appearing in the place where global theme and different thematic segments contact.

Opis:
The poetry of Khajeh Mohammad Hafiz Shirazi has vastly influenced the poetry of Ralph Waldo Emerson, as many critics have noted but have not demonstrated. Emerson is an American poet whose work reflects the influences of Persian poets, among which that of Hafiz is remarkable. The influence of Hafiz on Emerson includes memorable images, themes and motifs. While one can argue that this influence was indirect, it is obvious from the closeness of certain similarities, from Emerson’s intimate knowledge of Hafiz’s poetry, and from his love for Persian poetry, that the influence was more direct than otherwise. Although Emerson knew German and read Hafiz in German translations yet, he embarked on translating the poems of Hafiz in English in order to master Hafiz’s poetry and to introduce him to American readers. These translations themselves are another proof of the claim of influence of Hafiz on Emerson. The methodology of this article is to set the poems of the two poets over against one another and study them watchfully in order to demonstrate the influence of the precursor poet on the belated poet. Therefore the sources of familiarity of Emerson with Hafiz must not be forgotten and should be brought to the surface.

This article presents a thorough study of dislocation of superlative inferiority adjective dialogic function. This relationship between two utterances is based on a comparison and makes dislocation a dialogic marker.

The main aim of the article is the consideration of problems connected with “the prose of rural spaces” (rural spaces’ prose) which is understood as an important theoretical term, used in critical texts in relation to novels, mainly written at the beginning of 21th century. Presented with examples from contemporary Polish literature (the popular and awarded novels written by e.g. Paweł Potoroczyn, Maciej Płaza, Wioletta Grzegorzewska, Weronika Gogola) rural spaces’ prose appears to be not entirely precise, but nevertheless a useful category. This category describes the authors’ literary explorations, as well as the methodological efforts of researchers to characterize this new cultural phenomena.

Opis:
The opening part of this paper presents the influences of Middle-Platonist philosophy discernible in the ontology presupposed in the Marsanes. These are particularly conspicuous in the hierarchical arrangement of reality. At the summit of the Universe there is Invisible God, second in the hierarchy comes Barbelo, the Mind, complete with the world of intellect (identified with Platonic ideas), then follows the Soul and the world of the sense perception, which is the reflection of ideas. The second part contains a discussion of the fragment NHC X 32, 12 - 33, 6. described in the literature as „Pythagorean”. The fragment contains reference to the two eternal principles: monas and dyas, as well as to the ten cosmogonical principles. In this context the question arises as to the relationship of the cosmogony assumed in this fragment and the one presupposed by the author of the Middle- Platonist exposition. Finally, it is concluded, that the Marsanes cosmogony is typical of its period in being a synthesis comprising themes drawn from ontology (and cosmology) of both: Neopythagoreanism and Middle-Platonism.

Opis:
Saint Stanislaus, a Polish bishop murdered in 1079 by King Boleslaus the Bold, is the title character of Franz Liszt’s oratorio St Stanislaus. The libretto of St Stanislaus has several authors - the first author was the Cracow man of letters and folklore scholar Lucjan Siemieński, whom Liszt asked to write a text for his oratorio. The libretto, completed in 1869, was translated by Peter Cornelius, who made certain changes to the order of events. Not until 1874 did Liszt set about writing the music for his oratorio in earnest, and that was when he asked Cornelius to revise the libretto. The author’s premature death thwarted that intention, and so Liszt was forced to seek other authors. The version prepared several years later by Karl Erdmann Edler finally met the composer’s expectations. In its final version, the libretto comprises four scenes, which form a logical sequence of events and at the same time serve to emphasise Stanislaus’ spiritual strength and the causative power of his actions. Liszt did riot succeed in setting the whole text of the libretto; the extant material covers only scenes 1 and 4. The musical style of St Stanislaus indicates that the composer drew on various types of musical inspiration and technique. Hence the work is characterised by a certain heterogeneity - a synthetic character that encapsulates a nineteenth-century aesthetics. Nevertheless, the oratorio is undoubtedly one of the most distinctive manifestations of Liszt’s interest in Polish subjects. The presence of quotations from the Polish songs ‘Boże, coś Polskę’ and ‘Jeszcze Polska nie zginęła’ lends the work a distinct national colouring and evokes a mood of solemnity and religious contemplation, as well as the aura of triumph, victory and domination. Such an attitude may be symptomatic of the typically nineteenth-century perception of Poland as a tormented nation deprived of its statehood, which thanks to its valour and resilience will ultimately regain its independence.

For several years, marine tourism market has been experiencing a renaissance and is one of the fastest growing segment of the tourist economy. Strong competition on the marine carriers market forced them to seek out innovative products, and in the wake of that, their specialization, as well. At the same time, there has been a tendency to change a model of resting from passive lying in the Sun on aboard of the ships for an active participation in theme and profiled marine voyages. That caters to various customers’ needs and preferences. Owners of cruise vessels outdo each other in inventing the original theme offers for specific groups defined within: religious faiths, musical tastes, sport hobbies, health needs, or sexual orientation and many others. In both, polish and foreign literature, there is a noticeable lack, when it comes to a scientific approach to this phenomenon. In this light, it seems reasonable to take this topic of the research. The main aim of this article is an estimation of tenders in terms of theme cruises offered by marine carriers and making their generic classification. The research was realized using a method of desk research, a critical and comparative analysis of available literature, offers of marine tourist carriers, and also other scientific reports. Moreover, the author shows a list of criteria that could be implemented in the statistical researches of demand on theme cruises.

Opis:
The article discusses different approaches towards the theme of pastoral in tree narratives by Andrzej Stasiuk: Opowieściach galicyjskich (translated as Tales of Galicia), Jadąc do Babadag and Nie ma ekspresów przy żółtych drogach. Because the works were published over the period of two decades, one may detect the dynamic changes in how the countryside is portrayed. In the early 1990s Stasiuk incorporates Arcadian myth in his descriptions of provincial life but, at the same time, subverts its potential to bring happiness. The conviction that country life is submitted to nature and as such governed by instincts seems dominant. Stasiuk’s characters in Tales of Galicia follow the paths of Arcadian shepherds. The author pursues this way of reading pastoral in the following years. Furthermore, his interest in Central Europe in the collection Jadąc do Babadag extends his idyllic vision. It reaches beyond post-soviet agricultural farms of Lower Beskids to the territory which stretches from the Baltic to the Adriatic. The entire region in its pastoral realm seems to follow laws of nature. Stasiuk’s recent narratives, however, indicate that this gigantic countryside of Central Europe is gradually shrinking and disappearing. His writings assume the tone of elegy and nostalgia.

The data was collected by observation, interview, and focus group discussion. For documentary evidence, twelve informants were selected with the use of a purposive sampling technique. The research method employed was ethnographic qualitative description. The result revealed that the images reflected through oral poems address women mainly as wives, their particular aspects refer to love, woman’s attitude towards marriage issues, divorce, and include general knowledge, understanding of the life and personages within women’s worldview. By the same token, oral poetry portrayed those women as inferior to men. Finally, the study recommended a further research on oral literature of Amhara region of Ethiopia.
