Opis:
The article discusses the commentary of St. Caesarius of Arles on the Apocalypse of St. John. The bishop of Arles wrote his commentary on the basis of the Ticonius’s study. Due to this fact, the work of Caesarius, which has been saved all in one piece, is an extremely important source of information about the commentary of Ticonius and may be very useful in the process of its reconstruction. The explication of the Apocalypse, written by the Gallic shepherd, is practical. The author tried to make comments on the Apocalypse in the context of the situation of the Church in Gaul. He was more interested in ecclesiological message of St. John’s text rather than in its eschatological message. In consequence, the commentary was very practical and might have been used by priests who had to face such problems as the schism of the Church, rebaptism and relations with heretics.

Opis:
The article focuses on the history of the Book of Revelation of St. John the Theologian among Orthodox Slavs in the Middle Ages. The aim is to present its place among the other biblical books, related to Cyril and Methodius’ literary tradition and follow its origin, its way of life and spreading in the Slavia Orthodoxa. The two main versions of the distribution of the book are presented – without interpretations and with the interpretations of St. Andrew of Caesarea, while the specifics of the basic versions of the book are also presented (East Slavonic and South Slavic versions with commentaries, Bosnian Cyrillic version, the earliest Serbian transcript, Croatian Glagolitic fragments, Bulgarian calendar version). An opinion has been expressed that a common initial translation is at the root of all these versions of the book, which was accompanied by interpretations, and probably made in Bulgaria at the end of 9th–10th C. Subsequently, it has been edited at different Times and in different locations, placed in the composition of different collections, or as a separate book.

Opis:
The monumental tapestry dating back to the 14th century with images coming from St. John's Apocalypse, kept at present in the Angers castle, was designed on the basis of the iconographic program of the so-called Anglo-French apocalypses. In the unusually rich cycle of images contained in that group of illuminated manuscripts the figure of St. John is stressed in an unprecedented way. The present text is an attempt at referring the way of presentation of the author and narrator of Apocalypse to the miniature tradition and at pointing to the function of his figure in the narrative structure of the work.
