Opis:: Technology transfer plays a key role in boosting innovation in the economy. Spin off and spin out companies are important elements of the whole technology transfer system. Their goal is to develop and commercialize innovative technologies. The paper focuses on the processes of technology transfer in Poland, in which spin offs and spin outs, especially from scientific and research institutes, are involved. Part one deals with theoretical issues which are related to the definition of technology transfer, its main forms and channels. The second part presents main characteristics of spin offs and spin outs in Poland. Part three discusses the results of the research and concludes about the key conditions and motives behind spin o>s and spin outs in Poland

Opis:: This paper discusses selected aspects of the role of FDI in the process of technology transfer in the Polish manufacturing sector during years 2004-2010. The analysis of statistical data describing the changes of the structure of the foreign core capital located in divisions of the manufacturing sector in Poland, as well as selected indexes of innovation activity of enterprises from this sector show that the processes of technology transfer by foreign investors could have been intensified in the analyzed period.

Opis:: It is the aim of the article to depict the design and implementation of organizational innovation: Model SPIN. Model was tested at universities in Małopolska voivodship. It is based on the establishment and development of Knowledge Centers dedicated to the specific fields of technology (biotechnology, smart grids, green building, translational medicine). The implementation is discussed through the description of the risks associated with it. The article is concluded by the general reflections about the cooperation of public administration, universities and enterprises.

The constant pursuit of competitiveness brings about that countries consider knowledge creation and high value-added activity very welcomed. Accordingly to it, FDI in R&D as one of the sources of increase those factors are strongly desired by any host country. The aim of this paper is to show the involvement of foreign investors in R&D activity in Poland. Analysis concentrates on three problems connected each other, namely: methodological issues of technology transfer related to R&D activity; size, state of affairs and utilization of polish research potential by foreign investors and legal issues related to encouragements in R&D activities. Empirical analysis indicates that since nineties last century transnational corporations took part relatively low in the sector of R&D and only now it is changing. Analysis of expenditures on R&D, structure of governmental R&D, employment in R&D activity and submitted patent applications in Poland and in Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) mode suggest strong connections of foreign affiliates with their parents companies. However, emerging recently brand new centers for R&D and increasing employment in the already existed one suggest that the earlier situation is changing. Gathering together issues related to research potential and legal aspects facilitating R&D activity this paper concentrates thus on explanation of this problem.

The purpose of this article is to present the relations between the process of globalization and the transfer of technology and additionally to say a few words about the issues, which are related to these concepts. At present the research and technical development and their spread is regarded as the most important factor of molding the globalization. On the other hand however, the process of globalization may affect the transfer of technology. The paper shows the interaction between these two phenomena: on one hand, the process of globalization enhances the need to develop and to make use of high technology, though on the other hand the technological development accelerates the process of globalization.
