This paper focuses on trajectory tracking control for ro‐ bot manipulators. While much research has been done on this issue, many other aspects of this field have not been fully addressed. Here, we present a new solution using feedforward controller to eliminate parametric uncer‐ tainties and unknown disturbances. The Takagi‐Sugeno fuzzy descriptor system (TSFDS) is chosen to describe the dynamic characteristics of the robot. The combination of this fuzzy system and the robust H∞ performance makes the system almost isolated from external factors. The li‐ near matrix inequalities based on the theory of Lyapunov stability is considered for control design. The proposed method has proven its effectiveness through simulation results.

Opis:
The paper deals with the problem of health-aware fault-tolerant control of a vehicle fleet. In particular, the development process starts with providing the description of the process along with a suitable Internet-of-Things platform, which enables appropriate communication within the vehicle fleet. It also indicates the transportation tasks to the designated drivers and makes it possible to measure their realization times. The second stage pertains to the description of the analytical model of the transportation system, which is obtained with the max-plus algebra. Since the vehicle fleet is composed of heavy duty machines, it is crucial to monitor and analyze the degradation of their selected mechanical components. In particular, the components considered are ball bearings, which are employed in almost every mechanical transportation system. Thus, a fuzzy logic Takagi–Sugeno approach capable of assessing their time-to-failure is proposed. This information is utilized in the last stage, which boils down to health-aware and fault-tolerant control of the vehicle fleet. In particular, it aims at balancing the exploitation of the vehicles in such a way as to maximize they average time-to-failure. Moreover, the fault-tolerance is attained by balancing the use of particular vehicles in such a way as to minimize the effect of possible transportation delays within the system. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed approach is validated using selected simulation scenarios involving vehicle-based transportation tasks.

Opis:
This article describes a new procedure for the design of decentralized output-feedback tracking controllers for a class of interconnected Takagi–Sugeno (TS) fuzzy systems with external bounded disturbances and measurement noise. The main idea consists in transforming the decentralized tracking control problem, by using the descriptor redundancy formulation, to a robust decentralized stabilization one. The non-parallel distributed compensation (non-PDC) controllers proposed here are synthesized to satisfy robust H∞ tracking performance with disturbance attenuation. The decentralized controllers design conditions are given in terms of LMIs via extended quadratic Lyapunov functions. Finally, simulations are presented: two numerical examples are dedicated to compare the conservatism of the proposed approach regarding the previous results available in the literature; then, the effectiveness of the decentralized controller design methodology is illustrated with a closed-loop simulation of two inverted pendulums connected by a spring.

Opis:
This paper develops an innovative approach for designing non-parallel distributed fuzzy controllers for continuous-time non-linear systems under persistent perturbations. Non-linear systems are represented using Takagi–Sugeno fuzzy models. These non-PDC controllers guarantee bounded input bounded output stabilisation in closed-loop throughout the computation of generalised inescapable ellipsoids. These controllers are computed with linear matrix inequalities using fuzzy Lyapunov functions and integral delayed Lyapunov functions. LMI conditions developed in this paper provide non-PDC controllers with a minimum ⋆-norm (upper bound of the 1-norm) for the T–S fuzzy system under persistent perturbations. The results presented in this paper can be classified into two categories: local methods based on fuzzy Lyapunov functions with guaranteed bounds on the first derivatives of membership functions and global methods based on integral-delayed Lyapunov functions which are independent of the first derivatives of membership functions. The benefits of the proposed results are shown through some illustrative examples.

Opis:
We consider the problem of joint estimation of states and some constant parameters for a class of nonlinear discrete-time systems. This class contains systems that could be transformed into a quasi-LPV (linear parameter varying) polytopic model in the Takagi–Sugeno (T–S) form. Such systems could have unmeasured premise variables, a case usually overlooked in the observer design literature. We assert that, for such systems in discrete-time, the current literature lacks design strategies for joint state and parameter estimation. To this end, we adapt the existing literature on continuous-time linear systems for joint state and time-varying parameter estimation. We first develop the discrete-time version of this result for linear systems. A Lyapunov approach is used to illustrate stability, and bounds for the estimation error are obtained via the bounded real lemma. We use this result to achieve our objective for a design procedure for a class of nonlinear systems with constant parameters. This results in less conservative conditions and a simplified design procedure. A basic waste water treatment plant simulation example is discussed to illustrate the design procedure.

The paper addresses issues of the dynamic fuzzy Takagi- Sugeno models identification for multi-step ahead prediction. In the case of highly nonlinear models, standard Takagi-Sugeno models may be hard to identify if they should be designed for recurrent prediction generation. In such a case, alternative fuzzy block-structured models composed of fuzzy dynamic and fuzzy static parts may be useful. Two main benefits of the proposed models are: (1) possibility to speed-up model tuning procedure, (2) potential to fine-tune an already available, standard Takagi-Sugeno model. The benefits offered by the proposed models are illustrated using the example of identification of a nonlinear process – a system consisting of two tanks of different shapes (cylindrical and conical ones).

This paper presents the possibility of using a fuzzy controller to correct metrological properties of an electric traction energy meter. So far, no algorithms based on fuzzy logic to determine the desired conversion value of the current channel of the electricity meter have been applied. Currently, for the mentioned channel, conventional methods of gain determination are used, based on a sequential algorithm that controls operation of the programmable gain amplifier. The proposed corrector is designed for smart and continuous modification of the conversion factor of the low-voltage input part of the current channel in the electric energy meter. The authors have performed an accurate analysis of the current function in the main circuit of an electric locomotive by creating a model of a traction inverter subject to asynchronous motor load. An essential concept is this paper is to present the possibility of having a multi-input fuzzy controller split into two-input controllers connected in parallel and cascade. By performing a computer simulation of systems used for correcting metrological properties of electric traction energy meters, it has been proven that the applied fuzzy systems, based on an expert’s knowledge of digitally controlled PGA (Programmable Gain Amplifier) type operational amplifiers, are advantageous.

This paper investigates the use of Adaptive Generalized Predictive Control (TS-AGPC) for an activated sludge reactor, based on a Takagi Sugeno (TS) model, and presents the comparison between the latter and Generalized Predictive Control using an overall TS model (TS-GPC). The reduced bio-reactor Activated Sludge ASM1 Model, which describes the biological degradation of an activated sludge reactor, is designed based on several simplifications, as a TS model, its structure being based on a set of linear submodels, covering the process input-output space, interpolated by a nonlinear weighting function µ. The adaptive GPC approach is obtained by switching between linear submodels of the TS formulation. This is performed by selecting, in turns, a portion of the weighting function µ. The winning model will then act as an internal model for the TS-AGPC control law formulation, whereas the complete TS model is used in the calculation of the TS-GPC control law. Finally, the performance under input and parametric disturbances as well as control variable constraints of the TS-AGPC controller are compared to those for a global TS-GPC controller and a benchmark PID in terms of error and response dynamics.

In this paper, we investigate the global uniform practical exponential stability for a class of uncertain Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy systems. The uncertainties are supposed uniformly to be bounded by some known integrable functions to obtain an exponential convergence toward a neighborhood of the origin. Therefore, we use common quadratic Lyapunov function (CQLF) and parallel distributed compensation (PDC) controller techniques to show the global uniform practical exponential stability of the closed-loop system. Numeric simulations are given to validate the proposed approach.

Opis:
This paper focuses on the problem of constraint control for a class of discrete-time nonlinear systems. Firstly, a new discrete T–S fuzzy hyperbolic model is proposed to represent a class of discrete-time nonlinear systems. By means of the parallel distributed compensation (PDC) method, a novel asymptotic stabilizing control law with the “soft” constraint property is designed. The main advantage is that the proposed control method may achieve a small control amplitude. Secondly, for an uncertain discrete T–S fuzzy hyperbolic system with external disturbances, by the proposed control method, the robust stability and H performance are developed by using a Lyapunov function, and some sufficient conditions are established through seeking feasible solutions of some linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) to obtain several positive diagonally dominant (PDD) matrices. Finally, the validity and feasibility of the proposed schemes are demonstrated by a numerical example and a Van de Vusse one, and some comparisons of the discrete T–S fuzzy hyperbolic model with the discrete T–S fuzzy linear one are also given to illustrate the advantage of our approach.

This paper considers the problem of robust reconstruction of simultaneous actuator and sensor faults for a class of uncertain Takagi–Sugeno nonlinear systems with unmeasurable premise variables. The proposed fault reconstruction and estimation design method with H∞ performance is used to reconstruct both actuator and sensor faults when the latter are transformed into pseudo-actuator faults by introducing a simple filter. The main contribution is to develop a sliding mode observer (SMO) with two discontinuous terms to solve the problem of simultaneous faults. Sufficient stability conditions in terms linear matrix inequalities are achieved to guarantee the stability of the state estimation error. The observer gains are obtained by solving a convex multiobjective optimization problem. Simulation examples are given to illustrate the performance of the proposed observer.
