    Opis:
    Abstract: Frame Analysis (1974) is probably the most important work written by Erving Goffman, however it was only recently translated into Polish. The author of this article (a sociologist and the translator of Goffman's book) presents an overview of major problems involved in the process of this translation, especially those pertaining to main concepts introduced by Goffman. Among these are frame and framing, containment, keying, and flooding out. This paper also offers an attempt to adapt Goffman's conceptual framework to a systematic analysis of the very process of translation (which could be treated, as it is argued) as a keying of the original text.

    В статье излагается лингводидактическая концепция обучения юридическому переводу, основанная на использовании сопоставительного анализа национально-культурных концептосфер, контактирующих в учебном процессе. Анализируются особенности языка права и профессиональной коммуникации в сфере права, специфика юридического перевода, составные элементы профессиональной компетентности юриста-переводчика, трудности перевода юридических терминов, стратегические и методические вопросы обучении студентов переводу юридической терминологии, включая фразеологические единицы. Предлагаемая методика обучения юридическому переводу расширяет представления студентов о социально-культурном контексте использования иностранного юридического языка его носителями. Чтобы обеспечить эквивалентный перевод юридических текстов, студенты должны учитывать специфику национальных правовых систем, использовать необходимые переводческие трансформации и находить релевантные юридические термины. Главная цель перевода: сблизить две концептуальные картины мира. Предполагается, что такой подход поможет студентам овладеть новыми способами концептуализации юридической действительности и будет способствовать развитию переводческой компетентности, профессиональных умений, лингвокреативных способностей будущих переводчиков.
    Praca przedstawia lingwistyczno-dydaktyczne podejście do nauczania przekładu prawniczego oparte na analizie porównawczej pojęć zakorzenionych kulturowo i typowych dla danego krajowego systemu prawa. Autor szczegółowo omawia cechy charakterystyczne języka prawa i komunikacji prawniczej, przekładu prawniczego, w tym trudności związanych z tłumaczeniem terminologii prawnej i prawniczej, kompetencji tłumacza prawniczego oraz metodologii nauczania przekładu prawniczego. W artykule zostały omówione metody i techniki stosowane do poszerzania kompetencji translatorskich studentów w celu nauczenia ich metod konceptualizacji świata języka prawa i i stymulowania przyszłego rozwoju kompetencji zawodowych i kreatywności.
    The paper presents a linguodidactic approach to teaching legal translation based on the comparative analysis of national and cultural concept spheres, contacting in the learning process. Peculiarities of legal language and professional communication in the sphere of law, specific features of legal translation, components of legal translation competence, difficulties connected with the translation of legal terms, and strategic and methodological issues of teaching law terminology translation including phraseological units are analyzed in detail. The author describes the methods and techniques which extend the students conceptions of sociocultural context, in which the target language is used by native speakers. To provide the equivalent translation of legal texts, the students must take into consideration the specific character of national law systems, use the right translation transformations, and find relevant legal terms. The main purpose of the translation is to bring together two conceptual pictures of the world. It is supposed that such an approach can help students to learn the new ways of world conceptualization and will stimulate the self-devolopment of future translators, fostering their professional skills and creativity.

    This paper explores the essence of lexical units with no direct equivalents in other languages and introduces a bilingual dictionary of a new type. Such a dictionary is built upon a diachronic corpus of parallel translations with due consideration of the principles of present-day lexicography. The suggested diachronic German-Russian glossary of non-equivalent vocabulary – realia – presents the mega-, macro- and microstructure of a diachronic translation dictionary. The glossary is of a holistic character: it can provide information on the ways different realia were translated in various periods and thus reflect the creative role of translation plurality; it can also influence the formation of translating competence, acquisition of translating skills and skills of comparative analysis.

    Noun zakład (plant) appearing in the names of enterprises is not very popular among onomasticians. It may be an interesting subject of research for translators in connection with problems occurring during attempts to translate it into a foreign language. In Polish names of medical institutions, this noun is used not only in the sense of an enterprise/institution or its part, but also as an element of statutory defined names. Based on Polish law, this article details the possible meanings of the noun zakład in Polish names of medical facilities. The knowledge of individual types of facilities and their scope of competence constitutes the basic knowledge of a translator, necessary for the correct translation of the names of medical facilities. The main research objective was to determine the issues of translating into German the Polish names of medical facilities containing the noun zakład based on the available workshop aids. First, the translations proposed by dictionaries and on translator forums were critically evaluated. However, due to the fact that these aids contain only the translation of selected components of the names of medical facilities, it was necessary to obtain the translations of full names. Therefore, an attempt was made to determine whether the translators took into account the different meanings of the word zakład in the individual names, on the basis of ordered translations of selected names of medical institutions made by professional translators.

    In recent years there has been an increasing interest in translation process research conducted with the use of such empirical methods as think-aloud protocols, retrospection, or more advanced research methods, for instance computer programme Translog or oculographic analyses. The article presents partial results of the experiment conducted in order to analyze translation process in children’s literature translation, with reference to translation problems identified on the basis of translation students’ commentaries. The data were obtained through Integrated Problem and Decision Reporting method.

    Utrata informacji w trakcie procesu komunikacyjnego jest nieunikniona. Także tłumaczenie można traktować jako zjawisko stopniowalne. Stwierdzenie to aktualne pozostaje w szczególności w przypadku tłumaczenia ustnego, gdy tłumacz zwykle zastaje pewną sytuację, z jaką musi się zmierzyć, przy praktycznym braku wpływu na kształt jej okoliczności. Artykuł odwołuje się do kilku kwestii związanych z komunikacją międzykulturową w kontekście jej wariantu polsko-japońskiego. Wymienia on zarówno techniczne problemy związane z tłumaczeniem pisemnym i ustnym, jak również czynniki ksenofobiczne, które pozostają w sposób nieunikniony obecne na scenie komunikacji międzykulturowej. Wielu z tych problemów doświadczyć może jedynie sam tłumacz, którego aktywność zachodzi na granicy heterogenicznych środowisk komunikacyjnych.
    Since loss of information is inevitable during the communication process, translation/interpretation may be viewed as a gradable phenomenon. Furthermore, a translator/interpreter is an optional element of the communication model, due to the fact that a longer communication cycle inevitably generates more noise. The translator/interpreter’s presence on the communication stage should thus be related to the transparent character of their activity, i.e. to minimise the obstacles and maximize the benefits they provide for the communication processes. This is especially valid in cases of interpretation, when an interpreter usually encounters a particular situation to cope with, with practically no active influence on its circumstances.This paper addresses several issues related to the cross-cultural communication in the context of its Polish-Japanese variant. It raises both technical problems related to translation/interpretation and xenophobic issues inevitably present on the cross-cultural communication stage. Its last part covers the classification of potential translation/interpretation problems postulated by this author. Many of them may be experienced only by the translator/interpreter, whose activity is performed at the boundary of heterogeneous communication environments. The awareness oftranslation/interpretation issues is thus pointed out as one of the basic constituents of the educational background for all translation/interpretation students.

    The article outlines the problem of difficulties resulting from cultural differences encountered by the Dutch translators of two Polish novels: Ferdudyrke and Początek. Culture is present in such texts produced in a certain literary system and socio-cultural context on nearly every level and it often poses serious translation problems. The author focuses on the choices made by Gerard Rasch and Willem A. Maijer, Herman van der Klei and Chris de Ruig in order to draw conclusions concerning the consequences these decisions have and to state whether the couleur locale of the novels has been preserved. The topic in question is thoroughly analysed from the perspective of the target text reader.

    In many languages principles in use of pronoun subjects are similar, however in legal texts there are more specific restrictions. They can impact on the chosen translation strategy. To analyse this problem three examples of translation of German constitution and Swiss constitution into Polish and another two examples of translation of the Polish constitution into German were used. The author paid special attention to the equivalence issues. At the end of the paper possibilities of adequate pronoun subjects translation were pondered.

    Autor tekstu bada związki pomiędzy poezją austriackiego poety Georga Trakla (1887–1914), przedstawiciela ekspresjonizmu, a czeską literaturą – przede wszystkim poezją. Twórczość Trakla miała wpływ na rozwój współczesnej poezji czeskiej za pośrednictwem tłumaczeń Bohuslava Reynka. Poezja czeska lat trzydziestych dwudziestego wieku stała pod znakiem pesymizmu. Motywami przewodnimi były śmierć, rozkład, niepokój, spustoszenie i strach. Jedną z przyczyn powstania takiej atmosfery było tłumaczenie na język czeski poezji Georga Trakla, która następnie popularyzowana była przez Františka Halasa. Konkretne, wyraźne przejawy jego wpływów można znaleźć już w twórczości Bohuslava Reynka, przede wszystkim jednak pojawiają się one w dwóch tomikach Františka Halasa. Poetyka Trakla pozostawiła również ślad w twórczości Františka Hrubína, Viléma Závady i Jana Zahradníčka, u każdego z nich w różnym stopniu. W latach sześćdziesiątych echa twórczości Trakla można odnaleźć przede wszystkim w poezji Zbyňka Hejdy.
    The author of the study examines the relation between the poetry of the Austrian expressionist Georg Trakl (1887–1914) and Czech literature, especially poetry. Trakl‘s work in translations by Bohuslav Reynek has affected the development of the modern Czech poetry. The thirties of the twentieth century in the Czech poetry are marked by pessimism, motifs of death, decay, frustration and fear. Trakl´s poetry translated into Czech was a contributory cause of this atmosphere. We can already find specific and significant manifestations of its influence in the work of Bohuslav Reynek, and in the first two collections of František Halas. In varying degrees, they have left traces in the poetry of František Hrubín, Vilém Závada and Jan Zahradníček. The echoes of Trakl's poetry can also be read in the sixties by poet Zbyněk Hejda.
