The article describes the problems of software process improvement. In the first part it presents five models for software process improvement: PDCA, SIX SIGMA, ISO, CMMI and IDEAL. The article points out the important role of reference models and process maturity assessment models in software process improvement. Next, it presents the draft of the concept for software process improvement, where the starting point is the strategy of improving the information system, taking into account issues of strategic management, enhanced with the use of methods and techniques of software engineering. The draft of the concept for software process improvement identifies five stages: identification problems, strategic research and situational analysis of the system, preparation strategy for improvement, preparation project and its execution.

Opis:
The escalation of the contagion effect results in many consequences in various spheres of life. The important problem, which looks for further discussion is the impact of centralization and self-learning on the ability to response to contagion effect escalation. The system approach methodology seems to be the most appropriate one to resolve such complex issues. For this reason, a procedure of identification of system amidst contagion was developed. Consequently, it was applied to interpret the multinationals response amidst contagion. The authors suggest that each branch can build its own model of prevention against contagion within the decentralized system. Additionally, it should be based on mechanism of self-similarity and redundancy.

Realizacja zadań zabezpieczenia logistycznego jednostek i instytucji wojskowych jest nakierowana na zaspokojenie potrzeb generowanych przez te podmioty. Z kolei właściwa realizacja tych zadań jest przesłanką zapewnienia bezpieczeństwa w rozumieniu braku zagrożeń dotyczących wystąpienia określonych trudności w zaspokojeniu potrzeb logistycznych. Implementation of the tasks of the logistics security units and military institutions is aimed at meeting the needs generated by these entities. In turn, the proper implementation of these tasks is the premise to ensure security within the meaning of the absence of threats against certain difficulties in logistics needs. To ensure that the security environment it is therefore a comprehensive understanding of the needs and any of their satisfaction, while the meaning of actions as a string of events that make up the specified process.

Opis:
The paper concerns the analysis of reliability of three truss towers performed with the system approach. The first stage of the reliability analysis involved determination of the reliability index for trusses while assuming the same reliability of elements. In the second stage, assessment of the reliability was made according to Eurocodes. The impact of the wind load probability distribution and connection types in towers on their reliability was analysed. In the capacity function, the following random variables were taken into account: cross-sectional area, yield strength, modulus of elasticity, minimum moment of inertia, and length of the element.

Artykuł inicjuje opis ewolucji złożoności, jej istoty i typów. Uwzględniono charakterystykę m.in. złożoności epistemologicznej, dynamicznej, obliczeniowej. W dalszym ciągu rozważań ujęto opis ewolucji podejścia systemowego, uwzględniając kontekst opanowywania złożoności. Następnie rozważania skierowano na problematykę sterowania. Samosterowanie i modularność uznano za przesłanki opanowania złożoności w systemie globalnym. Najistotniejsze okazało się tu zaistnienie absorberów. Do absorberów zaliczono wartości zidentyfikowane w ramach systemu. Podmiotowość agentów wyznacza ramy dla konstytuowania się absorberów. Odwołując się do kategorii podmiotowości agenta i kierując się jego refleksyjnością oraz inercją, wskazano różne warianty konstytuowania się modułów działania jako efektów samosterowania.
The paper begins with an overview of complexity evolution, its nature and types. The author discusses e.g. the characteristics of epistemological, dynamic and computational complexity. Next, he describes the evolution of the system approach in the context of complexity mastering. He then focuses on the problem of control. Self-control and modularity are considered as the conditions of complexity control in a global system. To master complexity, one needs absorbers, i.e. values identified within the system. A framework in which absorbers can be created is provided by the agents’ subjectivity. Different variants of modules have been identified with reference to agent subjectivity, and his or her reflexivity and inertia.

Opis:
Current situation with the fleet of transport and technological machinery in Ukraine requires an individual approach to evaluating the effectiveness of its maintenance and repair system. The article is devoted to the issue of selecting the most effective option for the use of transport and technological machinery taking into account the specific conditions of its operation characterized by certain risks and uncertainties, and considering the real volumes and age structure of the fleet. Solving this problem requires substantiation of management models of maintenance and repair processes. It is necessary to provide scientifically based methods of managing the system of technical maintenance (TM) and repair of transport and technological machinery (RTTM) using specific methods of an individual approach to the technical and economic evaluation of the effectiveness of maintenance and RTTM processes which are adapted to the modern conditions of its operation. The article presents the results of the research, which was carried out using the basics of system analysis, the theory of decision-making under the conditions of uncertainty, and the basics of multi-criteria analysis. In the course of research, an analytical management model of the maintenance and repair system operation was formed that reveals the sequence of implementing the management methodology, which makes it possible to assess its state in successive discrete states, to promptly take into account the effect of external influencing factors and make corrections, which, in turn, allow increasing the validity of strategic decisions aimed at increasing the effectiveness. A numerical calculation was performed, which allowed us to conclude that the value of maintenance intervals has a significant impact on the indicator of effectiveness. Adjusting this value makes it possible to optimize maintenance and repair processes.

The article refers to a valid and current research area, which is the role of information technology (IT) in the formation of business sustainability (BS). The main objective of this article is to identify the role of IT in shaping sustainable organization in the context of different, partly conflicting, approaches to BS and empirical verification of the proposed theoretical framework. The article describes key differences between BS approaches in case cognitive logic (reductionist versus integrative logic) and axiological (individualistic-egoistic versus holistic-altruistic axiology) distinction. Theoretical role of IT in shaping integrative logic for BS is identified and presented. The proposed theoretical concept is empirically verified. The verification is based on empirical studies conducted in 400 SMEs operating in Poland in 2017.

Cyber-attacks affect not only our daily lives, but also national security by influencing elections, the economy, and communication. This article is an attempt to give an answer to the question included in the topic “How to build a coherent cybersecurity strategy?”. The first part of the article addresses the paradigmatic issue of cybersecurity. The author shows the differences and relations between cybersecurity and cyber defense. At this point, the author presents a systems approach to the nation security and related it to the cybersecurity. The second part of the article has been dedicated to visualize the need of coherent cybersecurity strategy by analyzing data related to cybersecurity. In the end, the author proposes actions to achieve cybersecurity. This has been done based on existing analyzes of cybersecurity strategies and systems approach to the issue of the cybersecurity.

This paper describes the matter how a developed product passes through the company. The important influence is underlined here, which the designing process has on the order passage through the company. The fact is underlined here that innovation cycles have been reduced in a considerable way. Especially in pre manufacturing stages, the innovation cycle can be reduced in a considerable way by means of theoretically supported system methods of creative designing. The paper describes key principles how to apply these principles which enable apparently contradictory system introduction to designers' work with simultaneous increasing of a space for their demanding creative work, with the target to increase the quality of their work and to increase the passage possibilities of this "narrow bottle neck" within development and order processes.

W artykule przedstawiono analizy skupione wokół istoty analogii, jako podstawowego narzędzia przyśpieszania poszukiwań nowatorskich pomysłów (idei) i rozwiązań, wyznaczających cel i kierunki działania. Wykorzystano metodę desk research, czyli badania istniejących, dostępnych, pochodzących z różnych źródeł danych. Do ich analizy zastosowano podejście systemowe, uwzględniające holistyczny punkt widzenia na problematykę kreatywności, jako narzędzie metodologiczne inspirowania innowacji, przedstawiane we wcześniejszych publikacjach autorów. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych analiz powstał systemowy model o uniwersalnym zastosowaniu, opisujący możliwości wykorzystywania analogii przy tworzeniu nowatorskich rozwiązań. Może on być zatem wykorzystywany w każdym dowolnym przedsięwzięciu, związanym z poszukiwaniem pomysłu a także technicznego rozwiązania. Intencją autorów jest spopularyzowanie i przez to szersze wykorzystywanie analogii, jako systemowego modelu wspomagania poszukiwań rozwiązywania trudnych problemów, szczególnie tych, przed którymi stoi ważny sektor polskiej gospodarki jakim jest produkcja żywności i jej przetwórstwo.
In the article analyses concentrated around the being of the analogy, as the basic tool of precipitating the innovative search were described of ideas and of solutions, appointing the purpose and directions of action. A method was used desk research, that is of examining data existing, accessible, coming from various sources. A system approach, taking a holistic point of view into account to issues of the creativity, as the methodological tool of inspiring the innovation, shown was used to their analysis in earlier publications of authors. Based on conducted analyses a system model rose about the universal application, describing abilities of using the analogy at creating novel solutions. He can and so be used in every any undertaking, associated with seeking the idea as well as the technical solution. Popularizing is intention of authors, and because of that the broader exploitation of the analogy, as the system model of supporting the prospecting of solving difficult problems, particularly a sector valid for the ones, before which he is standing of the Polish economy a manufacture of foodstuffs is which and her processing.

W artykule przedstawiono model funkcjonalny systemu sterowania ruchem kolejowym w podejściu systemowym, który ma szczególne znaczenie w aspekcie eksploatacyjno-niezawodnościowym. Model określa system założeń, pojęć i zależności pozwalający opisywać w przybliżony sposób wybrany aspekt rzeczywistości. The article presents a functional model of railway traffic control system in a systemic perspective. This is particular importance in terms of exploitation and reliability. The model defines a system of assumptions, concepts and relationships. System allows to describe the chosen aspect of reality. An important advantage of this functional model is taking into account the hierarchical structure of the railway traffic control system, ie. different structural levels.

Tradycyjne metody mierzenia przepustowości w infrastrukturze bazują na wskaźnikach, takich jak PCU. Wydaje się jasne, że takie metody oceny przepustowości (kategorie dróg, procedury kalkulacyjne, limity przepustowości zdefiniowane np.w HCM – Highway Capacity Manual) nie mogą być użyte do pokazania intermodalności systemu ruchu drogowego. Pierwszy krok to zawarcie intermodalności (podziału na jednostki ładunkowe) w przekroju drogi (piesi, rowery, komunikacja miejska, prywatne pojazdy). Kolejnym krokiem jest wzięcie pod uwagę wszystkich alternatyw w ramach korytarza (takich jak równoległe do danego korytarza trasy kolejowe lub linie transportu publicznego), tak aby dojść do intermodalnego punktu widzenia sprawy. Na koniec istotne jest również zawarcie wpływu na strukturę zasiedlenia terenu. Poza intermodalnością, w każdej nowej metodzie należy brać pod uwagę: skuteczność w kwestii kosztów, wszechstronną analizę odzewu ze strony natężenia ruchu, a także kompatybilność z CBA. W rezultacie należy znaleźć nowe wskaźniki (zamiast jednostek samochodowych PCE), aby zdefiniować przepływ pasażerów i ładunków. Istnieją wytyczne, które znajdują się w audycie postępu operacji transportowych oraz w warunkach infrastruktury dróg. Sprawdzenie tych wytycznych ma na celu integrację różnych środków transportu przez zmianę kluczowych wskaźników (np.: nachylenia, zakrzywienia, szerokości drogi, gospodarowania przepustowością) i zmianę użycia systemowego podejścia zawierającego wskaźniki, takie jak: podział na różne środki transportu, liczba osób w pojeździe oraz eksploatacyjna ładowność ciężarówek. Zaprezentowana w niniejszym artykule procedura może być postrzegana jako jeden z elementów na drodze do sprostania zapotrzebowaniu i przyszłym zadaniom w ramach korytarzy transportu.
Traditional methods of measuring the capacities of infrastructures are usually based on indicators like passenger car units (PCU). It is quite clear that these methods of capacity evaluation (categories of roads, calculation procedures, capacity limits, e.g. defined in the HCM – Highway Capacity Manual) cannot be used to picture the intermodality of the traffic system. The first step has to include the intermodality (modal split) in the cross section of a road (pedestrians, bicycles, public transport, private vehicles), and in a further step it is necessary to account for all alternatives within the corridor, like parallel routed railways or public transport lines, to reach an intermodal point of view. Finally it is also necessary to include the effects on the settlement structure. Beside intermodality, any new method also has to consider cost effectiveness, a comprehensive consideration of feedbacks in the traffic system, as well as compatibility to CBA. As a result it is necessary to find new indicators (instead of car units) to define passenger and freight flows. There are guidelines in progress auditing transport operations and infrastructure conditions of roadways. A revision of these guidelines aims to integrate different modes of transport by changing the key-indicators (e.g. incline, curviness, roadway width, capacity utilisation) and to use a system approach which includes indicators like modal split, car occupancy or utilised capacity of lorries. The procedure presented in this paper can be seen as one building block to meet the demands of future assessments within corridors.

The issue of sustainable development applies to all spheres of social life. Current activities in this field endeavour to create comprehensive solutions at all levels, ranging from local to global. This article presents the essence of sustainable development, which seeks to harmonise these capitals. The proposal is to consider them in accordance with the principles of the system approach. It will show that the implementation of this idea requires entrepreneurial activities aimed at rationalising and modernising the economic, social, and ecological subsystems, as well as their integration to achieve synergy. Particular attention is paid to environmental entrepreneurship as a factor in regional development.
Problematyka koncepcji zrównoważonego rozwoju dotyczy wszystkich sfer życia społecznego. Obecne działania w tym zakresie zmierzają do tworzenia kompleksowych rozwiązań na wszystkich szczeblach – od lokalnego do globalnego. Powinno się je planować uwzględniając współistnienie i wzajemne oddziaływanie trzech kapitałów: ekonomicznego, społecznego i ekologicznego. W artykule przedstawiono istotę zrównoważonego rozwoju, który dąży do harmonizacji tych kapitałów, zaproponowano rozpatrywanie ich zgodne z zasadami podejścia systemowego. Pokazano, że wdrożenie tej idei wymaga działań przedsiębiorczych skierowanych na usprawnienie i unowocześnienie podsystemów ekonomicznego, społecznego, ekologicznego, a także na ich zintegrowanie i uzyskanie efektu synergii. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na przedsiębiorczość ekologiczną jako czynnik rozwoju regionalnego.
