Opis:: The 'Nieśwież Academy' International Postgraduate Summer School was founded in 1995 upon the basis of an agreement about training specialists in the protection of historical parks and gardens as well as the cultural landscape, signed by the Institute of Culture of Belarus in Minsk and the Centre for the Protection of the Historical Landscape in Warsaw. Patronage over the undertaking was entrusted to the ministers of culture of Poland and Belarus. Since 2003, when the agreement was prolonged, the partners include the State Belarusian Institute of Culture in Minsk and the National Heritage Board of Poland (formerly known as the National Centre for the Study and Documentation of Historical Monuments in Warsaw). The 'Nieśwież Academy' International Postgraduate Summer School trains graduates of schools of higher learning from Central-Eastern European countries professionally involved in the protection and conservation of historical monuments. The courses are conducted in two-year cycles, starting in the summer in Belarus and ending in the following year in Poland. So far 13 such courses have been held. The first part of the thirteenth course took place in July 2007 in Minsk (Belarus). Its main theme was 'The use of historical buildings and complexes for the purposes of tourism' and the theoretical courses were supplemented by field trips. The second part was organized in Poland in September 2007. The course included a field trip associated with the protection and shaping of the cultural landscape. The closing ceremony was held at the Myślewicki Palace in the Royal Łazienki in Warsaw, with the students of the 'Nieśwież Academy' receiving their graduation diplomas.

Opis:: Warsaw Science Diplomacy School 2020 was the 1st edition of summer school held together by the European Academy of Diplomacy, based in Poland, and the European Union led programme Inventing a shared Science Diplomacy for Europe (InsSciDE). The week-long venue took place online, due to the coronavirus pandemic, between 22-26 June 2020. Class of 2020 consisted of 28 participants from 6 continents, 10 European Union member states and 27 countries in total, where vast majority possessed different nationality and country of residence. Also, the mentors and instructors of the school came from over 13 institutions gathered in the InsSciDe consortium. Participants were divided into 4 teams where they were discussing study cases of how European science diplomacy applies to global challenges. The chosen challenges were the following: Natural resources as public goods for global health; A Matter of Global Epidemic Diplomacy; Scientists in diplomacy during the Scramble for Africa; and A co-production of science and diplomacy in the Law of the Sea.

Opis:: Aim. The aim of is article is to discuss how summer schools can be approached as instances of hybrid education and how this can help to address the complex needs of their participants living in a culturally and technologically intertwined world. Methodology. This paper analyses the theoretical framework of hybrid education, its manifestations in summer schools and since it needs contextualisation, how it works in a specific case of Baltic Summer University organised by Vytautas Magnus University (Kaunas, Lithuania). Research and conclusion. To reach their target audience, summer schools combine academic content, and the elements of business and entertainment. This results in a separate mode of education with new possibilities and scope, however poses a paradox: while the adoption of business and entertainment practices puts summer schools somewhat outside the realm of the traditional university practices, it makes higher education more approachable and able to react to the fast-changing reality. Baltic Summer University fits the pattern established and as such, could benefit from a more active engagement of this theoretical approach and the opportunities it offers. Originality. While summer schools are not a particularly new phenomenon, recently this field has witnessed a great expansion in both the supply of programmes and interest from students. The nature of these programmes and sudden interest in them remains under the radar of more extensive in-depth studies, which would actually help to harness its full potential.

Gospodarzem Szkoły, organizowanej przez Komitet Nauk Pedagogicznych PAN, był Wydział Pedagogiki, Psychologii i Socjologii Uniwersytetu Zielonogórskiego. Rozważania oscylowały wokół tematu: Kultura szkoły: Czym ona jest? Jak ją badać i o niej pisać? Profesorowie, doktorzy i doktoranci, połączeni pasją naukowych dociekań oraz chęcią wymiany i dzielenia się własnymi doświadczeniami, przez pięć dni intensywnych obrad koncentrowali się na fenomenie kultury szkoły. XXXII LSMP w Łagowie Lubuskim stała się okazją do rekonstrukcji różnych modeli i teorii kultur szkoły.
The text constitutes a report on the events of the 32nd Summer School for Young Pedagogues in Łagów Lubuski – Zielona Góra under the 25th scientific direction of professor Maria Dudzikowa. The host of the Summer School, organized by the Committee of Pedagogical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, was the Faculty of Pedagogy, Psychology and Sociology of the University of Zielona Góra. The considerations oscillated around the topic: School culture: What is it? How to research it and write about it? Professors, PhDs and doctoral students, combined by the passion of scientific research and the desire to exchange and share their own experiences, focused on the phenomenon of school culture for five days of intense deliberation. XXXII LSMP in Łagów Lubuski has become an opportunity to reconstruct various models and theories of the school’s cultures.

Opis:: Abstract: In this work, the author reports on the ninth edition of the Summer School of Phenomenology and Philosophy of Mind, which took place in Copenhagen on 13-17 August, 2018. At the beginning of the report, the context, character, goals of the meeting and the number of participants are presented. Next, the order of the day is presented, the detailed structure of the lecture and workshop parts. The author then makes a brief summary of 5 lectures and 10 papers presented each day. Zusammenfassung: In diesem Artikel berichtet der Autor über die neunte Auflage der Sommerschule für Phänomenologie und Philosophie des Geistes, die am 13.-17. August 2018 in Kopenhagen stattfand. Zu Beginn des Berichts werden der Kontext, Charakter, Ziele des Treffens und die Anzahl der Teilnehmer vorgestellt. Als nächstes wird die Reihenfolge des Tages als auch die detaillierte Struktur des Vortrags und des Seminarteils präsentiert. Der Autor macht dann eine kurze Zusammenfassung der fünf Vorträge und 10 Präsentationen, die sind in Rahmen der Sommerschule vorgestellt worden.

Opis:: Celem niniejszego artykułu jest naświetlenie znaczenia osoby nieżyjącej już Profesor Elżbiety Tarkowskiej dla społeczności Letnich Szkół Młodych Pedagogów oraz podkreślenie zaangażowania Pani Profesor w tworzenie i szerzenie idei LSMP. W pierwszej części tekstu ukazana została geneza podjęcia współpracy Profesor Elżbiety Tarkowskiej ze środowiskiem Letnich Szkół, w oparciu o ideę interdyscyplinarności w nauce, która jest pielęgnowana na wrześniowych spotkaniach w ramach LSMP. W drugiej części przedstawiona została współpraca Pani Profesor z uczestnikami Szkół oraz Jej zaangażowanie w rozwój młodej kadry akademickiej. Trzecia część zbudowana jest wokół idei pisania fraszek, limeryków i innych utworów literackich w trakcie trwania Letnich Szkół. Zaprezentowane w niej zostały wszystkie utwory napisane podczas LSMP przez Profesor Elżbietę Tarkowską oraz te pisane przez innych uczestników, a mówiące o Pani Profesor.
The purpose of this article is to highlight the significance of the deceased Professor Elżbieta Tarkowska for the community of the Summer School for Young Pedagogues, as well as to emphasize the involvement of Professor Tarkowska in creating and spreading the ideals of the Summer School for Young Pedagogues. In the first part of the article, I present the beginnings of Professor Elżbieta Tarkowska’s cooperation with the Summer Schools, based on the idea of interdisciplinarity in science, which is endorsed during the September meetings in the framework of the Summer Schools. In the second part, I present the cooperation of Professor Tarkowska with the participants of the Schools, as well as her engagement in the development of young academics. Part three deals with the idea of writing epigrams, limericks and other literary forms during the Summer Schools. It includes all the literary works created by Professor Elżbieta Tarkowska during the Schools, as well as those written by other participants referring to Professor Tarkowska.

Opis:: Autor przybył na KUL z Kanady w 1983 r. na roczny kurs języka i kultury polskiej, a następnie został, aby ukończyć studia historyczne na tej uczelni. Z pozycji świadka stara się przedstawić znaczenie, jakie uczelnia mogła mieć dla różnych studentów zagranicznych w latach 80. ubiegłego stulecia. Studentów tych można podzielić na dwie zasadnicze grupy: uczestników kursów letnich (organizowanych od 1974 r.) oraz – kursów rocznych języka i kultury polskiej (od 1976/77 r.). Byli także regularni studenci studiów dziennych, których stopień doświadczenia tego miejsca – ze względu na dłuższy okres pobytu – był znacznie głębszy od tych tymczasowych, a także KUL miał dla nich większe znaczenie. Doceniali antykomunistyczne oblicze uczelni, jej związki z Janem Pawłem II oraz fakt, że dyplomy KUL-u uznawano za granicą.
The author came to the Catholic University of Lublin from Canada in 1983 to participate in the year long Polish language and culture program and stayed on to complete his M.A. studies in history. He attempts to present, primarily from the perspective of a witness, what meaning the university had for foreign students in the 1980s. These students can be divided into two main groups: those who came to the summer school (organized since 1974) and those who came for the year long language and culture programs (initiated in 1976). There were also some students participating in the regular course of studies at the university. Because of their lengthier stay they had a greater understanding of the Catholic University of Lublin and it had a deeper meaning for them. These students appreciated the anti-communist nature of the Catholic University of Lublin, its connection with John Paul II, as well as the fact that its degrees were recognized abroad.

Opis:: W artykule zostały zaprezentowane koncepcja i zadania zrealizowane w ramach projektu dydaktyczno-naukowego „Polskie cztery pory roku w Charkowie. Spotkania z polską kulturą, językiem i historią”. W projekcie wykorzystano podejście zadaniowe w zakresie rozwijania kompetencji komunikacyjnych i społeczno-kulturowych odbiorców ukraińskojęzycznych. Podejście to sprawdziło się szczególnie podczas realizacji etapu „Lato z Kopernikiem” (szkoła letnia języka i kultury polskiej). W artykule opisano działania realizowane w trakcie szkoły letniej, które ze względu na cel, formy i sposoby porozumiewania się w języku polskim zostały podzielone na trzy typy: w zakresie dydaktycznym, prywatnego życia codziennego i życia towarzyskiego. Szczególną uwagę poświęcono analizie projektu studencko-lektorskiego, który w pełni realizował zasady podejścia zadaniowego w nauczaniu języka polskiego jako obcego. Artykuł zawiera opis etapów wykonania tego zadania oraz otrzymanego produktu – podręcznika do nauki języka polskiego jako obcego dla odbiorców ukraińskojęzycznych pt. „Miasto i jego mieszkańcy”.
The article presents the concept and tasks implemented as part of the didactic and scientific “Polskie cztery pory roku w Charkowie. Spotkania z polską kulturą, językiem i historią” project. The project uses a task-based method to developing communication and socio-cultural competences of Ukrainian-speaking recipients. This approach worked especially well during a summer school program of Polish language and culture called “Summer with Copernicus”. The article describes the activities carried out during the summer school. Forms and methods of communication in Polish have been divided into three types: the field of didactics, private everyday life, and social life. Particular attention was paid to the analysis of the student-teacher project, which fully implemented the principles of a task-based approach to teaching and learning Polish as a foreign language. The article contains a description of the stages of this task and the resulting product – a textbook for learning Polish as a foreign language for Ukrainian-speaking recipients entitled Miasto i jego mieszkańcy.
