Opis:
This paper examines the problem of designing a robust H∞ fuzzy controller with D-stability constraints for a class of nonlinear dynamic systems which is described by a Takagi–Sugeno (TS) fuzzy model. Fuzzy modelling is a multi-model approach in which simple sub-models are combined to determine the global behavior of the system. Based on a linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach, we develop a robust H∞ fuzzy controller that guarantees (i) the L2-gain of the mapping from the exogenous input noise to the regulated output to be less than some prescribed value, and (ii) the closed-loop poles of each local system to be within a specified stability region. Sufficient conditions for the controller are given in terms of LMIs. Finally, to show the effectiveness of the designed approach, an example is provided to illustrate the use of the proposed methodology.

Opis:
This paper presents a fuzzy adaptive control of a class of MISO nonlinear systems. The dynamic behaviour of each MISO systems is composed of a nonlinear term, interactions effect between the inputs, and disturbances. In these circumstances, adaptive control becomes very difficult to implement and not always an evident task. Thus, the MISO system is approximated by the Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model. The advantage of this approximation is beneficial in the sense that it allows for converting the nonlinear problem into a linear one. In this respect, the coupling, nonlinearity and unmodeled dynamics are easily compensated. The identification and the control are conducted at the level of each local linear model based on fuzzy approach. The computational load and the complexity of nonlinear approach are reduced and permit wide applicability. The validity and the performance are tested numerically.

Many researches have been interested in the approximation properties of Fuzzy Logic Systems (FLS), which, like neural networks, can be seen as approximation schemes. Almost all of them tackled the Mamdani fuzzy model, which was shown to have many interesting approximation features. However, only in few cases the Sugeno fuzzy model was considered. In this paper, we are interested in the zero-order Multi-Input-Multi-Output (MIMO) Sugeno fuzzy model with Beta membership functions. This leads to Beta Fuzzy Logic Systems (BFLS). We show that BFLSs are universal approximators. We also prove that they possess the best approximation property and the interpolation characteristic.

In this paper we present the Beta function and its main properties. A key feature of the Beta function, which is given by the central-limit theorem, is also given. We then introduce a new category of neural networks based on a new kernel: the Beta function. Next, we investigate the use of Beta fuzzy basis functions for the design of fuzzy logic systems. The functional equivalence between Beta-based function neural networks and Beta fuzzy logic systems is then shown with the introduction of Beta neuro-fuzzy systems. By using the SW theorem and expanding the output of the Beta neuro-fuzzy system into a series of Beta fuzzy-based functions, we prove that one can uniformly approximate any real continuous function on a compact set to any arbitrary accuracy. Finally, a learning algorithm of the Beta neuro-fuzzy system is described and illustrated with numerical examples.

Opis:
In this paper, a Single-Input Single-Output (SISO) Sugeno fuzzy model of the zeroth order with Beta membership functions for input variables is adopted. After the introduction of Beta Fuzzy Logic Systems (BFLS) a constructive theory is developed to establish the fact that they are universal approximators. Based on this theory, an algorithm, which can actually construct a BFLS approximating a given continuous function with an arbitrary degree of accuracy, is described. We then show that BFLSs satisfy more critical properties which are the best approximation property and the interpolation property. We complete the paper with a series of numerical comparisons between the approximation performances of BFLSs and other classes of widely used fuzzy logic systems. These comparisons confirm that BFLSs perform best in all the cases studied.

The paper addresses issues of the dynamic fuzzy Takagi- Sugeno models identification for multi-step ahead prediction. In the case of highly nonlinear models, standard Takagi-Sugeno models may be hard to identify if they should be designed for recurrent prediction generation. In such a case, alternative fuzzy block-structured models composed of fuzzy dynamic and fuzzy static parts may be useful. Two main benefits of the proposed models are: (1) possibility to speed-up model tuning procedure, (2) potential to fine-tune an already available, standard Takagi-Sugeno model. The benefits offered by the proposed models are illustrated using the example of identification of a nonlinear process – a system consisting of two tanks of different shapes (cylindrical and conical ones).

Design and stability analysis of fuzzy multi-regional digital controllers is considered in the paper. The controllers are based on a notion of NARMAX systems, very similar to the Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model. The nonlinear system is approximated by a number of linear subsystems. Linear controllers are designed for all subsystems. It can be made in a classical way due to the subsystems linearity. The controllers are blended into one controller by employing fuzzy logic, the result being the fuzzy multi-regional controller (FuMR). The stability analysis of nonlinear systems with FuMR controllers composed of dynamic output feedback local linear controllers is provided. Examples illustrate the design procedure and the meaning of the stability criterion.

This paper presents a new algorithm for fuzzy c-regression model clustering. The proposed methodology is based on adding a second regularization term in the objective function of a Fuzzy C-Regression Model (FCRM) clustering algorithm in order to take into account noisy data. In addition, a new error measure is used in the objective function of the FCRM algorithm, replacing the one used in this type of algorithm. Then, particle swarm optimization is employed to finally tune parameters of the obtained fuzzy model. The orthogonal least squares method is used to identify the unknown parameters of the local linear model. Finally, validation results of two examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness and practicality of the proposed algorithm.

Based on a Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model and an inverse system method, this paper deals with the problem of actuator fault estimation for a class of nonlinear dynamic systems. Two different estimation strategies are developed. Firstly, T-S fuzzy models are used to describe nonlinear dynamic systems with an actuator fault. Then, a robust sliding mode observer is designed based on a T-S fuzzy model, and an inverse system method is used to estimate the actuator fault. Next, the second fault estimation strategy is developed. Compared with some existing techniques, such as adaptive and sliding mode methods, the one presented in this paper is easier to be implemented in practice. Finally, two numerical examples are given to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed techniques.

Opis:
This paper compares two different approaches to the construction of Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy models from data. These models approximate nonlinear systems by means of interpolation between local linear models. The main issue in the construction of Takagi-Sugeno models is the decomposition of the operating space into validity regions for the local models. The way this decomposition is done influences the complexity, accuracy and transparency of the obtained model. The first of the presented methods, the local linear model tree (LOLIMOT) algorithm generates incrementally the fuzzy model by axis-orthogonal decomposition of the input space. In the other method, product-space fuzzy clustering (the Gustafson-Kessel algorithm) is used to partition the available data into fuzzy subsets. The fundamental advantages and drawbacks of both the alternative strategies are pointed out. Their properties and real-world applicability are illustrated by building a dynamic model of a truck Diesel engine turbocharger.

Opis:
This paper focuses on the problem of constraint control for a class of discrete-time nonlinear systems. Firstly, a new discrete T–S fuzzy hyperbolic model is proposed to represent a class of discrete-time nonlinear systems. By means of the parallel distributed compensation (PDC) method, a novel asymptotic stabilizing control law with the “soft” constraint property is designed. The main advantage is that the proposed control method may achieve a small control amplitude. Secondly, for an uncertain discrete T–S fuzzy hyperbolic system with external disturbances, by the proposed control method, the robust stability and H performance are developed by using a Lyapunov function, and some sufficient conditions are established through seeking feasible solutions of some linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) to obtain several positive diagonally dominant (PDD) matrices. Finally, the validity and feasibility of the proposed schemes are demonstrated by a numerical example and a Van de Vusse one, and some comparisons of the discrete T–S fuzzy hyperbolic model with the discrete T–S fuzzy linear one are also given to illustrate the advantage of our approach.

Opis:
This paper develops an innovative approach for designing non-parallel distributed fuzzy controllers for continuous-time non-linear systems under persistent perturbations. Non-linear systems are represented using Takagi–Sugeno fuzzy models. These non-PDC controllers guarantee bounded input bounded output stabilisation in closed-loop throughout the computation of generalised inescapable ellipsoids. These controllers are computed with linear matrix inequalities using fuzzy Lyapunov functions and integral delayed Lyapunov functions. LMI conditions developed in this paper provide non-PDC controllers with a minimum ⋆-norm (upper bound of the 1-norm) for the T–S fuzzy system under persistent perturbations. The results presented in this paper can be classified into two categories: local methods based on fuzzy Lyapunov functions with guaranteed bounds on the first derivatives of membership functions and global methods based on integral-delayed Lyapunov functions which are independent of the first derivatives of membership functions. The benefits of the proposed results are shown through some illustrative examples.

In this paper, new non-quadratic stability conditions are derived based on the parallel distributed compensation scheme to stabilize Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy systems. We use a non-quadratic Lyapunov function as a fuzzy mixture of multiple quadratic Lyapunov functions. The quadratic Lyapunov functions share the same membership functions with the T-S fuzzy model. The stability conditions we propose are less conservative and stabilize also fuzzy systems which do not admit a quadratic stabilization. The proposed approach is based on two assumptions. The first one relates to a proportional relation between multiple Lyapunov functions and the second one considers an upper bound to the time derivative of the premise membership functions. To illustrate the advantages of our proposal, four examples are given.
