Opis:
This paper proposes a novel approach that integrates the capability of empirical validation of structural equation modelling (SEM) and the prediction ability of Bayesian networks (BN). The Hybrid SEM–BN approach was used as a decision support framework to examine the interplay between salient organisational constructs and their ability to influence engineers’ career satisfaction in the Australian Public Service (APS). The results emphasise that the ambidextrous culture for innovation was the most important factor that needed to be implemented in their organisation. Managerial implications are recommended for senior managers on how they can implement innovation culture to increase workplace innovation, which could, in turn, help reduce the turnover rate of engineers employed in the APS.

Opis:
In order to understand travellers’ willingness to use the train in Petaling Jaya, this study adds four predictors - situational factors, trust, novelty seeking and external influence - to the existing model of theory of planned behaviour (TPB). The study collected research data from employees in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, resulting in valuable data of 400 participants. Results indicate that attitude, perceived behavioural control, and subjective norm are found to have positive effects on the behavioural intention of taking the train. Furthermore, novelty seeking and external influence also have positive influences on attitude. While the three antecedents of trust were found to have an indirect positive effect on commuters’ intention to take the train via attitude, subjective norm and PBC. Situational factors were found to have an indirect negative significant influence on people’s intention to take the train through perceived behavioural control.

Research background: The conditions of globalization lead to a situation where consumers are overloaded with commercial information. Moreover, abundance of various promotional techniques makes consumers indifferent to many companies' efforts. On the other hand, organizations are allocating tremendous parts of their budgets to create advertisements which sometimes remain unnoticed or do not stimulate consumer purchase intentions. Therefore, a wide body of scientific re-search on advertising effectiveness has emerged in recent years. Many aspects of advertising have been analysed, e.g. the effectiveness of advertising spokesperson, appeal, layout, etc. However, the research on advertising colour temperature and its impact on advertising effectiveness is still scarce. Purpose of the article: Considering the intensifying competition in the retail sector, creating attractive and stimulating advertisements becomes an important task for many organizations. The aim of this research is to determine the impact of the colour temperature used in advertisements on consumer purchase intentions. Methods: In order to determine the impact of advertising colour temperature on consumer purchase intentions, a questionnaire survey was provided. The questionnaire was elaborated based on the analysis and synthesis of scientific literature. Findings & Value added: The theoretical analysis substantiated the different influence of colours and colour temperature on consumer perception. Therefore, the assumption was made: all other parameters being constant, the colour temperature of an advertisement might have a different impact on consumer perception. The results of empiric research revealed the differences of the impact of colour temperature on consumer purchase decisions in terms of an attitude toward advertising and the brand, reported brand-related behaviour. The colour temperature related to insights for the enhancement of advertising effectiveness and guidelines for future research are provided.

Opis:
One of major challenge in a sustainable growth, which organizations face is a slow adoption of the digital transformation. This research work presents the reasons that lead to the slow digitization process in medical device SMEs in southern Germany. In addition, by developing the conceptual model, this work highlights the effect of these improper implementations on SME's business performances and financial situation. The researchers applied correlational research design methodology, with simple random sampling techniques along with empirical and statistical study with primary data collection. The main study variables are SME’s financial situation, SMEs organizational performance, and medical digitization rules. The study demonstrated the negative impact of delayed digital mechanisms in terms of businesses and financial performances.The extra transparency restrictions that add burdens for SMEs, and the lack of training for the employees, which in overall add more difficulties for adopting innovation and digital transformation are other factors negatively affecting the studied process.

Research background: Innovations are introduced by competitive companies. One of the most common methods, increasingly used by companies, is organizing clusters or cluster initiatives operating within a specialized sector, competing with each other, exploiting the potential of cooperation and its impact on creating new business ideas. However, these efforts could be unviable due to the lack of an effective leader of the group. One should underline a crucial role of the leader in such an organized network, since the leader makes improvements and takes initiatives for all the network and its partners. These concepts prompt us to undertake the research on the role of clusters? characteristics on enhancing willingness to innovate in general. This study aims to point out the main characteristics of clusters and to investigate their impact on companies? innovativeness. The main problem to address is the magnitude of specific effects that might boost introducing new solutions in firms? networks. Purpose of the article: The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of factors describing cluster environment (characteristics like cooperation within clusters and beyond them, incentives of a leader, and localization factors) that might affect the innovativeness of companies. Methods: The authors collected data using questionnaire. This type of primary source enables the authors to construct a model consisting of latent variables such as incentives of coordinator of cluster or cluster initiative, cooperation of firms with local authorities, cooperation between entrepreneurs, or localization. The results are subject to the Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) analysis. Findings & value added: The conducted analysis leads to several findings. Firstly, incentives provided by the cluster coordinator enable companies to increase the willingness to introduce innovations in general. Secondly, however, the influence of other cluster characteristics on the propensity to innovate for firms functioning within specific Polish business clusters is scant. These findings point to the fact that actions leading to assign the official coordinator of a cluster need to be done, as it should result in better flow of knowledge, more symmetric information among companies within cluster, and more productive and innovative way of functioning firms in general. Regarding innovation clusters (and regional innovation systems), these actions need to be supported by forming policy on regional level, because effective clusters would induce more competitive regional economy in long-term scenario.

Research background: Many authors emphasize that successful human resource management (HRM) practices align with employees’ needs associated with the construct of employees’ interests. In particular, the importance of considering employees’ interests is emphasized in the process of shaping the architecture of Socially Responsible Human Resource Management (SR-HRM) systems. Purpose of the article: The aim of the article is to contribute to understanding employees’ interests by designing and validating a measure to recognize these interests. Methods: Through the use of literature sources and expert opinions, the authors developed a list of employee interests. Empirical data collected via the survey method in Poland was used to statistically verify the measurement scale. In particular, exploratory factor analysis and exploratory structural equation modelling were applied. Findings & value added: This article shows that it is important to create a comprehensive list of interests, as well as validate the research tool used. The newly developed scale has 22 items and five dimensions: support and development at the level of the enterprise, employee participation, support and development at the departmental level, employment security, working conditions and remuneration. It may be used in a variety of companies, as well as in complex research models, and developed further taking into consideration the context of other countries.

Although customer satisfaction surveys are widely utilized by transit agencies, there are limited analyses in the literature on the perception of passengers as a result of service improvements. A before-after study can help to evaluate the effect of changes from customer’s points of view and thus guarantee a continuous improvement in the service. In this paper, customer satisfaction was directly observed through a Customer Satisfaction Survey (CSS) before and after certain changes. Furthermore, Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is utilized to evaluate passenger’s perception of the service attribute importance. Finally, an Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) is adapted to analyze the changes in satisfaction and importance from the passenger’s perspective on each service attribute. In both before and after cases, a consistent SEM structure is used. The follow-up IPA provides transit agencies with priorities to improve service attributes and helps managers to devote their resources to key attributes that matter to the riders. Metro line 3 in Tehran was selected as the case study which is 33.7 km long with 25 stations. Two surveys were performed one before (with the sample size of 300), and one after (with the sample size of 384) a set of changes the most important of which was a headway reduction. The SEM was developed with five latent variables of main service, comfort, information, protection, and physical appearance. This structure was assessed on both the before and after data collections and showed to be valid. Security at the station and security on board were the most important service attributes in both waves according to their factor loadings, while ethics and behavioral messages had the smallest factor loading and the least importance. Comparing the attributes in both surveys suggested that reducing the headway was effective, although it did not seem to be sufficient for enhancing the overall customer satisfaction and improvements need to be continued.

The increased focus on the logistics function has potential to increase competitiveness. This is especially true for globally aimed production companies. In any company, logistics functions cooperate with various related functions such as production, marketing, procurement, engineering or developing new products as well as with financial functions. Each of the aforementioned connections or cooperation among logistics and its complementary functions can have a decisive effect on the company's competitiveness. Using a survey, we determined which activities in the surveyed companies are performed by the logistical function together with the marketing function and which activities they suggest should be performed together but are currently not, meaning they are co-dependent. Since interfunctional integration between logistics and marketing increases the success of a company, we also examined the connection between the current joint performance of activities and the suggested joint performance of activities among the before mentioned sectors, connected to the effectiveness of the company. To examine the mentioned connections among the logistical and marketing functions, Explanatory Factor Analysis (EFA), Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) were performed.

Przedmiotem zainteresowania badaczy ilościowych są najczęściej zależności między pojedynczymi zmiennymi pomiarowymi. W niniejszym artykule zaprezentowano alternatywne podejście – modelowanie równań strukturalnych (SEM) techniką ważonych najmniejszych kwadratów ze skorygowaną średnią i wariancją (WLSMV). Umożliwia ono badanie zależności między bateriami zmiennych (konstruktami teoretycznymi), włączając zmienne kategorialne. Analizie poddano wyniki badania przeprowadzonego w 2015 roku, koncentrując się na określeniu determinant samodzielnego podejmowania decyzji w gospodarstwie domowym. Zbadano, jak stosunek emocjonalny do pracy zawodowej, pozycja tamże, siła charakteru, proaktywna postawa wobec otoczenia oraz waga wyglądu zewnętrznego wpływają na chęć samodzielnego podejmowania decyzji w gospodarstwie domowym. Analizę przeprowadzono również w podziale na dwa obszary decyzyjne: finansowy i pozafinansowy.
Relationships between separate variable are the common subject to quantitative researchers. In this article an alternative approach is demonstrated: structural equation modelling (SEM) by weighted least squares means and variance adjusted estimation (WLSMV), which makes possible to assess relationships between batteries of variables (theoretical constructs), including categorical ones. Analysis is based on the results of a research carried out in 2015 and the focus is put on determinants of unilateral decision-making in the household. The study examines the way factors, such as: mental attitude towards work, position at work, strength of character, open attitude towards others, importance of own appearance, affect willingness to making decisions in the household. Analysis is also performed for financial and non-financial decisive areas separately.

Predictive analysis is a vital element to operations management as it facilitates real-time decision making and advanced planning on both strategy and performance. This paper identifies predictors to measure distribution performance in the dairy industry and to establish their importance. Methods: A distribution model is developed through exploratory structural equation modelling (SEM) techniques. The key performance predictors are marketing and distribution management, quality management, supply chain coordination, and brand management, which account for 71.5% of the variability in distribution performance. Results and conclusion: The predictors help improving the distribution performance, specifically in quality, order fill rate, and food safety. The outcomes of this research can help dairy professionals in managing their distribution channels, improving traceability, on-time delivery, and shipment accuracy. Consequently, these factors can improve distribution performance. Four predictors are elicited from the data to estimate the distribution performance and the relative importance of predictors is also established.

Artykuł ma na celu zaprezentowanie teoretycznego modelu opisującego sposób działania przedsiębiorstw zorientowanych projektowo oraz jego zasad jego operacjonalizacji. W artykule zaprezentowana została również metoda badawcza, która za pomocą procedur matematycznych i statystycznych pozwla zbadać, czy model taki znajduje swe potwierdzenie w zebranych danych empirycznych. Potwierdzenie przypuszczeń teoretycznych da możliwość określenia nowej ścieżki rozwoju dla przedsiębiorstw zorientowanych projektowo. Pozwoli ona takim organizacjom efektywnie funkcjonować w warunkach narastającej konkurencji oraz presji innowacyjnej.
The purpose of the paper is to present hypothetical and deductive model describing the modus operandi of project oriented companies (POC’s) and approach to model operationalisation. Due to this statistical procedure, it will be verified whether the matrix arising from the adopted theoretical model differs statistically from the empirical matrix of covariance arising from the system of equations. The fit of the model with the empirical data will be evaluated using χ2, RMSEA and CFI (Comparative Fit Index). How well the theoretical model fits the empirical data is assessed through a number of indicators.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest próba wyjaśnienia relacji pomiędzy zdolnościami dynamicznymi organizacji, poziomem luzów organizacyjnych oraz innowacyjności przedsiębiorstwa. Wykorzystując dane empiryczne z 422 polskich organizacji, zgromadzonych w 2021 roku, przeprowadzono analizy ilościowe dotyczące związków pomiędzy wskazanymi zależnościami. Przeprowadzone analizy statystyczne wykazały, że zdolności do dostrzegania, wykorzystywania i rekonfiguracji zasobów stanowią istotny czynnik determinujący poziom innowacyjności przedsiębiorstwa. Artykuł podejmuje tematykę związków pomiędzy zdolnościami dynamicznymi i innowacyjnością w kontekście luzów organizacyjnych. Zgodnie z wiedzą autorów jest to pierwsze tego typu ujęcie w literaturze krajowej i jedno z pierwszych w międzynarodowym stanie wiedzy. Wzbogaca tym samym stan wiedzy dotyczący problematyki innowacyjności w organizacji, wskazując jednoznacznie na jej uwarunkowania.
This article explains the relationship between the organization's dynamic capabilities, the level of organizational slack, and the innovativeness of the enterprise. Using empirical data from 422 Polish organizations collected in 2021; quantitative analyses were carried out on the relationships between dynamic capabilities, the level of organizational slack, and the company's innovativeness. Among others, correlation analyses, factor analyses, regression analyses, variance inflation factors, structural equation modeling, and moderation analyses were used. It was found that the ability to perceive, use and reconfigure resources is an essential factor determining the enterprise's innovativeness level. On the other hand, organizational slack is vital in moderating the relationship between resource reconfiguration and innovation. With a low level of organizational slack, the ability to reconfigure resources translates into an increase in the company's innovativeness. The article discusses the relationship between dynamic abilities and innovation in the context of organizational slack. According to the authors' knowledge, this is the first approach of this type in the national literature and one of the first in the international state of knowledge. Thus, it enriches the organization's knowledge of innovation issues, clearly pointing to its determinants.

Nowadays sustainability is a contemporary and current issue that recognized by scholars and practitioners. While the concept of perceived corporate sustainability allows various sustainability views, still a lack of understanding arguably inhibits its practical realization and a proper understanding of sustainability is urgently needed. Therefore, the objectives of this paper are to identify the factors affecting perceived corporate sustainability practices (PCSP) and investigate the relationship between PCSP and organizational performance. A quantitative approach was deployed using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) to analyse the responses from 203 managers for SMEs in Qatar. The study revealed that CSR practices, green practices, and corporate environmental strategy were found to significantly affect PCSP while top management support does not play an important role in it. Moreover, the study showed that PCSP significantly affects financial performance while the relationship between PCSP and none financial performance was not supported by the results. Furthermore, this research is expected to provide SMEs and sustainability literature with valuable suggestions for management practices.
W dzisiejszych czasach zrównoważony rozwój jest współczesnym i aktualnym zagadnieniem, uznanym przez naukowców i praktyków. Chociaż koncepcja postrzeganego zrównoważonego rozwoju korporacyjnego pozwala na różne spojrzenia na zrównoważony rozwój, nadal brak zrozumienia prawdopodobnie utrudnia jego praktyczną realizację, a właściwe zrozumienie zrównoważonego rozwoju jest pilnie potrzebne. Dlatego celem tego artykułu jest zidentyfikowanie czynników wpływających na postrzegane praktyki korporacyjnego zrównoważonego rozwoju (PCSP) i zbadanie związku między PCSP a wydajnością organizacji. Zastosowano podejście ilościowe, wykorzystując modelowanie równań strukturalnych (SEM), aby przeanalizować odpowiedzi 203 menedżerów MŚP w Katarze. Badanie wykazało, że praktyki CSR, zielone praktyki i korporacyjna strategia środowiskowa znacząco wpływają na PCSP, podczas gdy wsparcie najwyższego kierownictwa nie odgrywa w tym ważnej roli. Ponadto badanie wykazało, że PCSP istotnie wpływa na wyniki finansowe, podczas gdy związek między PCSP a żadnymi wynikami finansowymi nie został poparty wynikami. Ponadto oczekuje się, że badanie to dostarczy MŚP i literaturze dotyczącej zrównoważonego rozwoju cennych sugestii dotyczących praktyk zarządzania.

Opis:
Cluster policies (CPs) are said to be one of the crucial elements supporting the innovativeness of local and regional economies. However, what drives the success of CPs has not been made fully explicit. We tested the impact of perceived quality and strength of social capital (SC) and the formal institutional environment (FIE) upon CPs. We studied this relationship by applying structural equation modelling to data from quantitative CATI research on members of 20cluster initiatives from four Polish administrative regions (NUTS 2), referred to as voivodships. We have revealed that the formal institutional environment has a strong influence on CPs, whereas, surprisingly, SC hardly matters.
