Opis:: This essay argues that Luther’s “metaphysics” is present in Heidegger’s Beiträge zur Philosophie (Contributions to Philosophy), a text many consider to be Heidegger’s second magnum opus. I argue that Luther’s “metaphysics” is present in Heidegger’s Contributions in primarily two ways: (1) there is a Lutheran structure (of existential categories) that Heidegger appropriated not only in Being and Time, but also much earlier in his lectures on St. Paul from the 1920s, of responding to a call and converting in anxious anticipation toward a futural not-yet (what Heidegger calls “the last god”); and (2) Contributions’ project concerns overcoming metaphysics, which involves first thinking through to metaphysics’ conditions for possibility, which means recognizing the “ironic nature” of beyng via what Heidegger calls “thinking concealment,” the logic of which originates in Luther’s attacks on not only Greek metaphysics, but upon Judaism and the Mosaic law as well.

Opis:: There is an allegory of the human body in 2 Cor 5:1–4 that is discussed by many scholars and has many different interpretations. The author of this article joins this discussion and tries to answer the question of what the theological message of this pericope is. The metaphors that make it up can be divided into two groups: 1) home metaphors; 2) metaphors of putting on and taking off of clothes. In his text, Paul arranges them in an antithetical way and refers to two stages of human life: the earthly life of believers, which a person leads in a destructible body and which ends in death, and the future condition of believers, which begins with the reception of the resurrection body. The analysis carried out in the article leads to the conclusion that, in his reflection, Paul does not write anything about the intermediate state which is referred to by the followers of Platonic and Gnostic thought in the Hellenistic environment. He eagerly wishes to stand before the Lord during the Parousia without losing his mortal body in order to pass to eternal life without the experience of death by putting on the glorious body.

Opis:: Ausgegangen wird im Artikel von einer Umschreibung der absoluten und relativen Chronologie. Darauf folgt ein Versuch der Feststellung von zwei Daten, die von Seiten der römischen Geschichte als ziemlich sicher gelten (aus der Amtszeit des Prokonsul Gallio von Achaia und Festus in Caesarea). Der Vergleich mit Mitteilungen aus der Apostelgeschichte und Nachrichten von Paulus selbst in seinen Briefen führt dann folgerichtig zu Ergebnissen, die eine kleine temporale Biegsamkeit mit einschließen. Diese Methode nennt der Verf. „eine junktive Chronologie”.

Opis:: Many times in his letters Paul underlines that he is an apostle of Christ Jesus chosen, called and sent to proclaim the Gospel of God (cfr. Rom 1,1; 1 Cor 1,1; 2 Cor 1,1). In his teaching he willingly used different metaphors, among which those taken from the held of ecology had an important role. Paul makes use of them when speaks of the reality, the nature and the tasks of the Christian community (e.g.: Rom 7,4ff.; 9,21; 1 Cor 3,9), when he wants to describe his missionary activity or to express his apostolic consciousness (e.g.: 1 Cor 3,6; 3,10; 2 Cor 10,8; 13,10).
Paweł wielokrotnie w swoich listach podkreśla, że jest apostołem Chrystusa Jezusa wybranym, powołanym i posłanym do głoszenia Ewangelii Bożej (por. Rz 1,1; 1Kor 1,1; 2Kor 1,1). W swoim nauczaniu apostoł posługuje się chętnie różnymi metaforami, wśród których ważną rolę odgrywają metafory z zakresu ekologii. Paweł wykorzystuje je wtedy, gdy mówi o rzeczywistości, naturze i zadaniach gminy chrześcijańskiej (np. Rz 7,4n; 9,21; IKor 3,9), gdy chce opisać swoją działalność misyjną lub wyrazić swoją apostolską świadomość (np. IKor 3,6; 3,10; 2Kor 10,8; 13,10).

Opis:: In his epistles, St. Paul frequently makes use of athletic imagery, both in relation to sport in general and to specific athletic disciplines (running, boxing, wrestling, gymnastics). However, the use of athletic themes is not an aim in and of itself for St. Paul, but rather it is intended to give specific guidelines to his audience. An exegetic analysis shows that the Apostle to the Nations compares his life and that of other Christians to athletic competitions. The field of these competitions is the way of faith in Jesus in which there are numerous difficulties and obstacles. Hence, the Christian as an athlete who wants to experience eternal life should be persistent, ascetic, practice virtues and prayer, and, most important, his or her task is to have a close relationship with God and the community of believers.
Św. Paweł w swoich Listach wielokrotnie używa obrazów sportowych, i to zarówno odnoszących się do sportu w ogólności, jak i do jego poszczególnych dyscyplin (biegi, boks, zapasy, ćwiczenia gimnastyczne). Jednak wykorzystanie tematyki sportowej nie jest dla niego celem samym w sobie, lecz ma za zadanie przekazanie adresatom konkretnych wskazówek. Przeprowadzone analizy egzegetyczne pokazują, że Apostoł Narodów porównuje życie swoje i innych chrześcijan do zmagań sportowych. Terenem tych zawodów jest droga wiary w Jezusa, na której pojawiają się liczne trudności i przeciwności. Dlatego sportowiec-chrześcijanin, chcący zdobyć nagrodę życia wiecznego, powinien się cechować m.in. wytrwałością, ascezą, praktykowaniem cnót i modlitwy, a co najważniejsze, jego zadaniem jest staranie się o jak najlepszą relację z Bogiem i wspólnotą wierzących.

Opis:: W epoce, w której żył i tworzył Tomasz z Akwinu, nie spierano się o naturę Kościoła. Dlatego nie napisał on żadnego traktatu eklezjologicznego. Kwestie związane z Kościołem podejmował – tak jak inni scholastycy – w kontekście chrystologii i pneumatologii; jako Ciało Chrystusa Kościół jest bowiem dziełem (i proces ten zachodzi permanentnie) Zbawiciela i Ducha Świętego. Pawłowa metafora Kościoła jako „Ciała Chrystusa”, rozwinięta (ale przez innego autora) w Listach do Efezjan i Kolosan, w komentarzach Akwinaty nabiera kształtu wszechstronnej syntezy eklezjologicznej, obejmującej genezę, naturę, strukturę i misję Eklezji. W mistrzowski i twórczy sposób Tomasz z Akwinu korzysta z osiągnięć teologii patrystycznej, przede wszystkim św. Augustyna, nawiązuje też do średniowiecznej kanonistyki, angażującej się w konflikt papiestwa z cesarstwem. Sam jednak (zwłaszcza w Expositio in Symbolum) wydobywa chrystologiczno-pneumatyczny aspekt natury tej unikalnej wspólnoty, podkreślając zarazem boską genezę Kościoła i jego eschatyczne zorientowanie na Boga (reditus creaturae rationalis ad Deum).
In the times of Thomas Aquinas the great debate was going on about the nature of the Church and therefore he did not write any ecclesiological treatise. Like other scholastics, Aquinas undertook the questions concerning the Church in the context of Christology and pneumatology since as the Body of Christ, the Church is the work of the Saviour and the Holy Spirit and this process occurs permanently. St. Paul’s metaphor of the Church as “the Body of Christ” developed by another author in the Letter to the Ephesians and the Letter to the Corinthians acquires a form of a comprehensive ecclesiological synthesis in Aquinas’ commentaries which encompass the genesis, nature, structure and mission of the Ecclesia. In a skilful and creative manner, Thomas makes use of the achievements of patristic theology, especially of the works of St. Augustine, alluding to medieval canonistics which was engaged in the conflict between the papacy and the empire. However, he extracts the Christological-pneumatological aspect of this unique community (especially in Expositio in Symbolum), emphasising the divine genesis of the Church and Her eschatic orientation to God (reditus creaturae rationalis ad Deum).

Opis:: The picture of God as the Father, expressed in the thought of St. Paul, corresponds to the thought of the Old Covenant and it is also very similar to the figure of Paul, who is the father to the Christian communities. One of the fundamental features of the activity of the Apostle of Nations was opening the doors of the Christian community to the pagans without the necessity of yielding to the Law. Sending the Letter to the Galatians as well as the Letter to the Romans shows God as the tutor, him who cares and disciplines his children. Above all Paul depicts God as the Father of all believers. Everyone who believes and who has the power of the Holy Spirit can call “Abba! Father!” to him.
