Opis:
Introduction. Explosive strength is a motor ability defined as an ability to develop a maximum strength in the shortest time. It is an essential feature of many sportspeople, including football players. To assess this strength for lower limbs, the following tests are implemented: CMJ and DJ tests, defined determinants of McClymont reactive strength or K indicator according to Bartonietz. It is also possible to objectively assess the jump research with the use of a dynamographic platform. 12 Aim of the study. The aim of the research was to determine explosive strength of lower limbs with the use of GAMMA dynamographic platform. Material and method. The participants of the Polish Nationwide Special Olympics Football Tournament were examined with the use of the GAMMA dynamographic platform. 57 people aged 20-30 were researched (44 boys, 13 girls). On the basis of the results, lower limbs explosive strength was determined. Results. The research depicted a wide range of the lower limbs explosive strength values of the Football Special Olympics participants. This also suggests significant differences of motor abilities of particular participants taking part in the tournament. Conclusions. Results concerning the dynamographic platforms usefulness in assessing sportspeople motor abilities as well as explosive strength of young active participants of the Special Olympics were formed.

sport by people with disabilities
Opis:
Since World War II, sport involving people with disabilities has gradually evolved in Poland, and people with intellectual disabilities had not participated in any sporting events until the end of the 1960s. They were treated as second-class citizens having no rights that they should be entitled to. The reason behind this was the State’s policy towards sport, where high-performance sport, especially Olympic sport, played a vital role that was supposed to testify to the high level of civilisation in communist Poland. People with disabilities were regarded as a shameful problem and were practically kept hidden away. They, therefore, did not participate in social life, including athletic activities. The first competition held in Poland under the name of the Special Olympics was not organised until 1969 in Poznań. On May 26, 1973, the first national sporting event for mentally retarded children (as they were referred to at the time) was called Spartakiad and was held in Warsaw. That was around that time that the sports movement in Poland began to draw on American practices, and in the 1980s it adopted the form of the Special Olympics, both in terms of organisation and sporting activities. This period was marked by active cooperation with the USA and other countries, where Polish athletes with intellectual disabilities began to compete in international competitions.

Opis:
The quality of body posture and its balance depends on the efficiency of the receptors, the good work of the central nervous system integrating and coordinating the postural system and the effective musculoskeletal system. Physical activity of people with intellectual disability can stimulate the processes of improving the posture and its postural stability, improving the quality of life. Methods: The study was conducted in 2017. 20 randomly selected volleyball players with intellectual disabilities and 10 healthy players took part in it. Body posture was recorded using a photogrammetric system. To evaluate the use of the Frohner Posture Index and the Dolphens classification, stability of the posture was assessed on the Zebris FDM power plate, analyzing the basic stabilographic parameters sway path and sway area. Results: Athletes with intellectual disabilities had significantly poorer posture and body balance than healthy players. There were no differences in postural stability between the groups studied. Some linear correlations were found between the quality of posture and balance and stabilographic variables. Conclusions: Incorrect postural patterns, observed in people with intellectual disabilities, require the development of special recovery programs. Qualified physical activity can help them improve their balance systems, reducing the risk of falls and injuries. The lack of the possibility of an unequivocal relationship between the quality of body posture and its stability requires research on a larger research material. New evaluation methods used (Frohner Posture index and Dolphens classification) confirmed their usefulness and gave new possibilities of application in postural research.
