The article ask questions especially on this dimensions of the biblical traditions about marriage which are result of the historical context of their arise and today they seem hardly to receive. First the article shows basic data about the situation of women and men in the patriarchal socio-cultural context of the Bible. In the next step on the example of the history of Jacob and his family polygamy is presented as an accepted model of the marriage at least in some biblical traditions. In the next past the article analyzes the first three chapters of the Book of Genesis and their anthropological and theological content. In the last part the theological-ecclesiological dimension of the marriage symbolic is presented, related to Christ and Church, especially asking for the pre-assumptions about the role of women and men.
Artykuł zadaje pytania zwłaszcza o te wymiary biblijnego przekazu o małżeństwie, które wynikają z historycznego kontekstu ich powstania i dziś wydają się trudne do przyjęcia. Najpierw ukazuje podstawowe dane o sytuacji kobiet i mężczyzn w patriarchalnym kontekście społeczno-kulturowym Biblii. Następnie na przykładzie historii Jakuba i jego rodziny przedstawiona zostaje poligamia jako przynajmniej w pewnych przekazach biblijnych akceptowalny model małżeństwa. Kolejnym zagadnieniem podjętym w artykule jest antropologiczno-teologiczna analiza pierwszych trzech rozdziałów Księgi Genesis. W ostatniej części artykułu przedstawiony został wymiar teologiczno-eklezjologiczny – symbolika oblubieńcza odnoszona do Chrystusa i Kościoła, zwłaszcza pod kątem występujących w niej założeń co do roli kobiet i mężczyzn.

Aim. This research paper aims to identify the role of Saudi universities in spreading the culture of social responsibility based on the experiences of Malaysian and Canadian universities. Methods. The author adopted the descriptive analytical approach based on the literature review and analysing the experiences of Saudi, Malaysian, and Canadian universities. Results. The results showed that the Saudi Ministry of Education should play its role in institutionalising social responsibility in Saudi universities and the higher education sector, e.g., promoting social responsibility practices at universities as a part of the ministry’s strategy. Conclusion. In the light of the results obtained the officials of Saudi universities can benefit from the experience of Malaysian and Canadian universities to spread the culture of social responsibility. This research recommends raising the awareness of university students of the importance of university social responsibility as a strategy to motivate them to participate in various community activities and programmes. Originality. This research is considered one of the fewest studies that analysed the experiences of Saudi, Malaysian, and Canadian universities.

This acticle takes up isuues of educational preration for performing different social roles. The subject of the analysis is, in particular in the praxeological and ethical aspects, roles of great significance for social order to last and function. Amongst the profesional roles there are the roles of teachers, lawyers, managers, politicians and journalists. Amongst the natural roles there are the roles of parents and the retired. In addition we identify the role of a consumer. The modern education in general prepares well to a particular profession regarding its competence and knowledge but it underestimates the preparation in axiological and ethical aspects of it. We think that the natural roles ought to be as well under some paraeducational preparation.

With this article I show the perception shared by high school and university students in Poland concerning the role of the priest in the Church and society. The basis of these findings are the results of three sociological studies that I carried out in years 1983, 1998, and 2008, realized among 976 high school students and 414 university students in Kalisz, Poland. In the given 25 year period, the perception of the role of the religious priest in the Church and the parish, as well as his social role in a democratic state, underwent major changes. Both types of roles-religious and social-recognized by the audited youth differ significantly from their definition as given by the doctrine of the Catholic Church. The youth imagine the priest in these roles in a different way than the Church and concentrate their attention on those elements that have practical significance. Indicators of these changes are included in the statistical tables.

Der vorgelegte Artikel fasst ausgewählte bisherige Erkenntnisse aus dem Bereich der Pädagogik zusammen, wobei der Schwerpunkt auf den Begriff des Lehrers und auf seine sozialpädagogischen Rollen gelegt wird. Das Hauptziel des Beitrages besteht in der Durchführung der theoretischen Analyse des Begriffs des Lehrers, der Typologie des Lehrers und seiner sozialen Rollen. Im Rahmen der Metaanalyse wurde festgestellt, dass die Berufsgruppe der Lehrer sehr differenziert ist, ebenso wie die Wahrnehmung des Begriffs des Lehrers. Ferner wurde festgestellt, dass der Lehrerberuf viele soziale Rollen umfasst, die der Lehrer zu vertreten hat, und in diesem Zusammenhang können wir den Lehrerberuf zu Berufen zählen, die hohe Ansprüche an den Menschen stellen.
The presented article summarizes the selected current knowledge from the field of pedagogywith focus on the concept of the teacher and their social pedagogical role. The main aim of the paperis to carry out a theoretical analysis of the concept of the teacher, the teacher’s typology and theirsocial roles. In the meta-analysis it has been found that the professional group of teachers is verydifferentiated as well as the understanding of the concept of the teacher. Furthermore, it has beenfound that the profession of the teacher includes many social roles that the teacher has to representand in this context we can classify the teaching profession as one that places high demands on a man.

W tekście zaprezentowano również lokalny kontekst problemu, odnoszący się do rzeczywistości potransformacyjnej Polski.
The aim of the article is to provide the background of the research and practical problem of women functioning in professional and family roles and the possibilities to take them simultaneously. The article focuses on the terminology used by social sciences to describe specific phenomena regarding women’s involvement in work and maternity and their context related to the social changes in late modernity. The local scope of the problem, related to the reality of post-transition Poland, was also included in the text.

Mimo znacznego rozwoju metod badawczych w naukach społecznych oraz rozkwitu wysoko standaryzowanych metod ilościowych wpływ osoby badacza na cały proces badawczy pozostaje faktem oraz specyfiką nauk społecznych tak, jak na to wskazywał, na początku lat sześćdziesiątych dwudziestego wieku, Stanisław Ossowski, wybitny socjolog. Nakłada to na naukowca obowiązek samodoskonalenia i rozwoju osobistego, pozwala mu jednak kształtować swą rolę w sposób twórczy i doskonalący go. Doskonałą okazją do takiej refleksji jest badanie terenowe prowadzone w biednych dzielnicach krajów globalnego Południa, które można i warto podejmować bez zbędnego strachu i uprzedzeń. Należy jednak przyjąć odpowiednio otwartą postawę i gotowość do przystosowania narzędzi badawczych do panujących w miejscu badania warunków.
Despite considerable development of research methods in social sciences and popularity of highly standardized quantitative methods, the researcher's influence on the entire research process remains a fact and a characteristic feature of social sciences, as pointed out in the early 1960s by Stanisław Ossowski, a great sociologist. It makes the researcher responsible for his self-improvement and personal development, but also allows him to shape his role in a creative and enriching way. A field study conducted in the poor neighborhoods of the global South, which can and should be done without unnecessary fear and prejudice is an excellent opportunity for such reflection. Before approaching the field, an adequate open attitude and willingness to adapt research tools to the prevailing conditions in investigated space, should be taken.

W artykule przedstawione są sposoby definiowania przez socjologów swoich społecznych ról w latach 1945–89. Definicje te nie były stałe, lecz ewoluowały wraz ze zmianą warunków społeczno-politycznych, dlatego też wprowadzono periodyzację uzasadnioną zdarzeniami historycznymi. Analizowano także, jaka była faktyczna możliwość uprawiania socjologii w tym okresie, sposobów w jaki socjologowie neutralizowali swój udział w budowaniu reżimu, a także technik uników i „legalnej krytyki” sytemu. Materiałem badawczym są wypowiedzi znanych socjologów na łamach prasy oficjalnej oraz w publikacjach książkowych z tego okresu, w których precyzują swoje stanowisko w następujących kwestiach: funkcja socjologii i zadania socjologa w państwie socjalistycznym oraz miejsce socjologii wśród innych nauk i doktryn politycznych.
The paper analyzes the roles adopted by Polish sociologists from 1945 to 1989, i.e. until regaining sovereignty by Poland. Sociologists in Poland are assumed to have constituted a heterogeneous group, representing various attitudes towards the political system: active legitimating of the system, passive consent, objective expert or demonstrating a critical attitude towards the system or its elements. Depending on the adopted attitude, Polish sociologists defined their intellectual role differently in public discourse. Their definitions changed, rather than remained fixed, as the sociopolitical conditions transformed. The following issues are also discussed: whether the actual practice of Sociology was possible during that period, the ways in which sociologists neutralized their participation in building the regime, and the techniques of evasion and “legal criticism” of the system. The research material includes comments made by well-known sociologists in the official press and book publications from that period, in which they specify their attitudes towards the following matters: the function of Sociology and the tasks of a sociologists in a socialist country, and the position of Sociology among other sciences and political doctrines.

In this paper the author presents some part of her own research conducted in the Netherlands and aimed at knowing the career counsellors role in society and local communities. The author argues that it is useful for researcher to make use of the theory of structuration by Anthony Giddens to interpret the collected data. This theory allows researcher to interpret both actions of an individual as well the social and cultural contexts of these actions. In the article the role of career counsellors working for private counselling office has been presented as an example of the way of using the theory of structuration. While indicating the rules of acting and the moments of reflexive monitoring of action by counsellors, which are some of the crucial elements/concepts in structuration theory, the author presents the analysis based on this theory. As the results show, the social role of career counsellors seems to be complex and based on many cultural factors.

The authors of this paper reflect on the socio-cultural contexts for defining the role of counsellors. They indicate the differences and similarities of the role of the counsellor in different countries and cultures in the context of contemporary social changes. The authors emphasise the complexity of a counsellor’s role indicating context-related issues (social, cultural, political) in which counselling itself, understood as a social process or/and ‘culture product’ is anchored.
Autorzy niniejszego artykułu podejmują próbę rozważań o społeczno-kulturowych kontekstach definiowania roli doradców. Starają się wskazać podobieństwa i różnice w koncepcjach roli doradcy w różnych krajach i kulturach na świecie. Podkreślają złożoność kwestii wyznaczania roli społecznej doradcy, wynikającą głównie z kontekstów (społecznych, kulturowych, politycznych), w jakich osadzone jest samo poradnictwo, rozumiane jako proces społeczny i/lub wytwór kulturowy.

Opis:
Reflecting on the question of the contemporary condition of historical thinking, focusing on the case study of Poland, I consider the causes of the crisis of authority of the professional historian in the modern information society, in particular the lack of interaction between academic historiography and society. Against this backdrop, I propose a reflection on a possible modification of the understanding of the historian's profession for the sake of dialogue with the "ordinary" recipient of history.

The paper analyzes the role-making of an orchestral conductor. It is framed by the symbolic interactionist perspective and focuses on Ralph Turner’s role-making theory and the works of Alfred Schütz and Howard S. Becker and associates. The research project is based on grounded theory methodology. The applied techniques include semi-structured interviews, video-elicited interviews, observations of teaching conducting and opera rehearsals, video analysis, and secondary data analysis. The results reveal how the process of role-making is shaped during secondary socialization and indicate the social features of the role, such as high social prestige, awareness of the body, an exclusive social group, and teamwork. The role-making process is based on permanent interactions and negotiations with social actors: the composer and the musical score, the orchestra, soloists, ballet, and the audience. Additionally, it is influenced by cultural factors, such as the conductor’s gender, age, nationality and international experience, competencies, as well as the type of professional contract. At the same time, conductors need to actively maintain the image of determined and resolute individualists, as expected by the social actors they interact with.

Tematem niniejszego opracowania jest przede wszystkim przedstawienie pajdocentryzmu pedagogicznego, będącego składnikiem wielu kierunków nowoczesnego wychowania, i skonfrontowanie tego stanowiska z klasycznym ujęciem realizacji ról społecznych przez jednostki w społeczeństwie. Nowatorskie przedstawienie wizji wychowawczych przez pedagogów przełomu XIX i XX w. takich, jak Ellen Key czy Janusz Korczak, a także postmodernistyczna wizja współczesności w pewnym sensie powołały do życia pedagogikę pajdocentryczną, która stanowi odpowiedź na synkretyzm kulturowy oraz rzuca wyzwanie szkole tradycyjnej, której zwyczajowe środki wyrazu są w dużej mierze zdezaktualizowane. Zestawienie postulatów pedagogiki pajdocentrycznej z ujęciem roli społecznej w socjologii prowadzi do wielu ciekawych wniosków. Jednym z nich jest niewątpliwie kwestia ładu czy też porządku społecznego, podnoszona np. przez orientację funkcjonalistyczną w socjologii. Niniejszy artykuł stanowi próbę wyjaśnienia kwestii wychowania opartego na swobodzie i odrzucającego autorytety. Czy wychowanie takie może być właściwym środkiem ku realizacji w przyszłości dobrze funkcjonującego mechanizmu społecznego opartego na wyspecjalizowanych rolach społecznych? Tak postawione pytanie zapewne jeszcze długo nie doczeka się jasnej i pełnej odpowiedzi z uwagi na aktualność problemu i jego zróżnicowaną problematykę łączącą dyskursy: socjologiczny, pedagogiczny, ale także w dużym stopniu ideologiczny. Należy także zaznaczyć, że zetknięcie pajdocentryzmu z realizacją ról społecznych, podnoszonych szczególnie w kontekście socjologizmu pedagogicznego, jest problematyką niezbadaną, która wymaga szeregu analiz i opracowań.
This paper presents the essence and goals of paidocentric upbringing, the results of which are related to issues of the fulfillment of social roles in society by the individual. Paidocentrism, as the most radical form of modern, no-prescriptive pedagogy, largely revaluates discipline and the ideals that are the foundation of the school system based on the traditional, axiological order. It also implies a sense of social roles shaped by contestation, which guidelines are provided just in school – the main secondary socialization environment. Social order, accented mostly by functional sociological theories, is based on the proper implementation without deviation by the individuals in their social roles. Paidocentric position, which calls for the liberation of man and his libertarian freedom, also contests any functional limitations imposed on the unit, which simultaneously contributes to the formation of the community. In addition, forcing solutions such as empathy, reducing the requirements and therapy are not conducive to correcting the role of education of youth, especially the one that strongly expresses its contestation against the norms and values of society.

Opis:
The article presents the results of the research regarding the professional role structure in the perception of social workers. Research, conducted among 182 social workers, has been directed towards attaining an answer regarding the requirements for the effective operation of the work environment. This analysis can be the basis for conclusions concerning the structure of the social workers’ role in contemporary legal and organizational conditions.
W artykule zaprezentowano wyniki badań struktury roli zawodowej w percepcji pracowników socjalnych. Badania zostały ukierunkowane poszukiwaniem odpowiedzi na pytanie o wymogi związane z efektywnym funkcjonowaniem w środowisku pracy, a przeprowadzono je wśród 182 pracowników socjalnych. Dokonane analizy mogą być podstawą dla wniosków dotyczących struktury roli pracownika socjalnego we współczesnych warunkach prawno-organizacyjnych.

Studiowanie tworzą złożone procesy edukacji (nauczania i uczenia się) oraz autoedukacji (samokształcenia i samowychowania). Studiowanie przebiega w związku i współzależności z podejmowaną i aktualnie realizowaną rolą wspólnotową (członka grup rówieśniczych, członka stowarzyszeń, związków, organizacji). Studiowanie przebiega na tle cech współczesnej rzeczywistości uniwersyteckiej. Fakt podejmowania studiów wyższych na uniwersytecie, pozwala na wyodrębnienie studenckiej grupy społecznej, która została poddana analizom w ramach artykułu. Artykuł stanowi raport z badań przeprowadzonych na terenie czterech najstarszych polskich uniwersytetów, element rozważań w obrębie pedagogiki szkoły wyższej oraz głos w dyskusji nad specyfiką studiowania we współczesnej rzeczywistości uniwersyteckiej. Artykuł jest próbą diagnozy przebiegu studiowania, dokonaną z perspektywy realizacji elementów roli wspólnotowej w warunkach współczesnej rzeczywistości uniwersyteckiej oraz próbą odpowiedzi na pytanie w jaki sposób studiowanie – jego przebieg, zakres realizacji tworzących do składników, warunkowane jest aktualną (podejmowaną w toku studiów) rolą wspólnotową. Odpowiedź na to pytanie jest możliwa dzięki analizie form aktywności wspólnotowych podejmowanych przez studentów w toku studiowania.
Studying is formed by process of education and self - study. Studying is proceeding in connection with professional social roles, family social roles and community social roles. Studying is proceeding in connection with present university condition. University is a part of social reality, which is describing by international and connected with definite country acts of social becoming. University studying allows to identify students social group that is the part of article analysis. The article is the research report (studies have been conducted in the oldest polish universities). Quantitative and qualitative research is a part of pedagogy of higher education. Research conclusions are important for the whole society and every student because are connected with social roles activity in harmony with studying high quality. The article is an attempt to diagnose the course of study, made from the perspective of implementation of the community social role under the conditions of the contemporary university reality and an attempt to answer the question how studying is conditioned by the current (undertaken in the course of the study) community role. The answer to this question is possible by analysing the forms of community activities taken by students during studying.
