The article aims to show the informal family support networks during the pandemic and their durability in the post-pandemic period. The empirical basis of the article is the authors’ research, conducted in late November and early December 2022, on a sample of 548 respondents. The research diagnosed the factors determining participation in support networks in crisis settings and the durability of new forms of network cooperation. The study used the diagnostic survey method. The collected data were analysed using Statistica 8.0. Central tendency measures were carried out, and differences between the arithmetic means of the examined features and factor analysis were determined. On its basis, a measurement model of factors determining participation in the support network and its durability was constructed.

Opis:
This article addresses the question of what influences the opportunities for social mobility in the context of return migration to Albania from a meso-level perspective. It applies a network-theory-based analysis to 104 qualitative interviews with a diverse sample of returned migrants, conducted in Albania between 2019 and 2022. The interviews are clustered into three categories according to the stated economic need for migration. The analysis shows that the geographical dispersion, the support capacities and the influence of these networks on migration decision-making differ significantly between the three categories. Despite some dynamics, individual network embeddedness reflects the overall socio-economic and ethno-political stratifications of the origin society and distinctively shapes migrants’ modalities and means of migration, the opportunities for resource accumulation abroad and their ability to re-establish themselves after return. Thus, social networks mainly contribute to continuity rather than change in terms of social stratification, even over the course of migration(s) and return(s). Yet, these effects are mediating, not determining, outcomes and are context-dependent. Lastly, network effects differ not only between but also within the categories, depending, for example, on the gender or age of the migrant.

Opis:
This work presents evidence supporting the relationship between the dual aspect of moral competence (emotion and cognition) and social networks in school settings. We conducted empirical research with 160 students from various disciplines of the social sciences and different cohorts in two Brazilian public universities. Firstly, the participants responded to Georg Lind’s Moral Competence Test (MCT-xt). Following this, a sociometric generator regarding relationships of friendship and collaboration in social networks was applied, and several Exponential Random Graphs Models (ERGMs), with the MCT-xt score as an exogenous effect and predictor of these relationships, were utilized. We also used a Crisp-Set Qualitative Comparative Analysis in order to determine if the cohorts, where the average MCT-xt was associated with the interactional structure, obeyed the same causal configuration. There exist two conditional configurations: (1) a sufficient score of MCT-xt in a social network with homogeneous status encourages a proactive search of collaboration; (2) an insufficient score of MCT-xt in a social network with homogeneous status encourages a collaborative exchange based on the popularity of some individuals. This work reveals how to interpret, at the grouping level, the results of MCT-xt.

This contribution focuses on analysing political communication in Italy during the 2022 national elections, with particular attention to the TikTok platform, where prominent Italian political leaders have appeared. To this end, we used a combination of social analysis tools, including Fanpage Karma and Blogmeter Live Insight. The collected data were scrutinized using a multidisciplinary approach that combines Political Communication Theory and Media Analysis. The aim is to explore the role of pop culture in political communication and understand how this phenomenon influences political participation and users’ choices. Furthermore, the possible consequences of the growing popularity of pop political communication on political representation are examined, as well as whether this is a momentary or long-lasting phenomenon.

Previous research in social science established the existence of mutual relationship between cultural tastes and social networks. What is less known, however, is how this connectivity translates into tangible social benefits (social capital). By applying the resource generator tool, the article explores the extent to which access to different social resources (social capital) is related to pursuing different cultural activities, independent of social standing and network features. Empirically, the possibilities of locally representative survey data (N = 1010) from Poland (2017) are exploited. The analysis brings two main findings: (i) participation in elite culture is positively associated with better access to instrumental resources (lending money, job assistance), (ii) while popular culture is more relevant to “information and (cultural) influences” social capital and to general access to resources. The contribution of the study is to show that cultural consumption may assist in the accumulation of important social resources and thus contribute to solidifying social inequalities

The article shows that in crisis management, risks can be effectively analysed and managed by rational use of mathematical and technical methods. It presents two quantitative methods for risk assessment and a procedure for transferring the results to logistical social networks (LSNs). The need to use social logistical networks, where modern techniques can be applied, including the Internet of Things (IoT) or Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication, enabling the collection of any amount of data to logistical social networks, is indicated. The article stresses that research on public crisis management must be interdisciplinary in nature, taking into account all aspects of security management, including social, technical and economic issues. Modern methods of assessing the state and risk of a crisis situation of individual elements of the systems generate an increasing number of data, the collection, collection, processing and sharing of which requires ensuring information security and protecting the personal freedom of the individual.

Purpose: The article aimed to identify differences in the density of the trust network of team members in different work models (on-site, hybrid, and remote) and to identify opportunities for building knowledge and innovation in such work models based on the trust there. The method of experiment and a social networks analysis (SNA) was used to achieve the goal. Design/methodology/approach: The research is based on an experiment as part of a strategic business simulation game. The participants of the investigation are MBA students. The variable in the experiment is the work model. In these three different situations, relationships developed in teams are identified. Based on the identified relationships, visualizations of the trust network were built. Findings: The research confirmed that the hybrid and remote work models minimize the number of trust ties between team members. The network of trust based on the identified relationships is less dense. The decline in confidence leads to the conclusion that a company's innovation and ability to generate new knowledge are now under threat based only on group resources. Research limitations/implications: Research is based on an experiment. The group subjected to the investigation is MBA students. The limited duration of the experiment may limit the formation of networks of trust (based on long-term, deep relationships). See also a summary. Practical implications: The results indicate apparent differences in the density of trust relations between the organization's participants in the three analyzed work models. This points directly to the need to adjust tools supporting the development of innovation and knowledge creation for remote work models, different from those known from traditional (on-site) work models. Originality/value: The study shows that trust relationships, e are more challenging to achieve in remote working conditions than in traditional work models. It gives managers guidelines on what tools (such as SNA) they can use to identify relationships between people in new work models.

Opis:
Aim. This article presents an ethnographic exploration of technology use among migrants. The main question explored is how migration processes are mediated by communication between migrants and their support network, considering the role of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). Methods. Multi-situated and virtual ethnography have allowed researchers to access and obtain relevant discourse on the experiences, perceptions, and strategies of migrants in a non-invasive way. Results. In pre-digital contexts, support networks of friends and family provided sources of information in the development of migration projects. With the spread of technology, Facebook’s virtual communities are a means of facilitating migration strategies. Likewise, ICTs bring migrants and their families closer to the “there”, bolstering their bonding social capital and therefore their emotional well-being. Despite the language barriers, and the stereotypes and prejudices held by native-born residents, virtual social networks allow migrants to strengthen their bridging social capital, facilitating the integration of different Latin American migrant groups in the destination society. Conclusion. Today, ICTs have transformed migration strategies and expanded bonding social capital, allowing migrants to share common interests with their family setting, despite the distance. Limited interaction between migrants and native-born residents restricts bridging social capital, but the virtual sphere allows the Latin American diaspora to pursue common interests and overcome cultural barriers.

Opis:
Drugi z tych aspektów to wykorzystywanie ubiorów i tkanin w stosunkach międzyludzkich, tworzeniu i utrzymywaniu sieci społecznych, budowaniu relacji klientalnych, a w końcu korzystanie z nich w propagandzie własnej pozycji i prestiżu. Łącznie w inwentarzu Mikołaja Szydłowieckiego zostało wymienionych 160 gotowych ubiorów i tekstylnych dodatków.
This article is based on an archival inventory of property (clothing, fabrics, accessories, gold and silver products) of Mikołaj Szydłowiecki, Grand Treasurer of the Crown (1515–1515), castellan of Sandomierz (1515), Starosta of Radom (1507–1532), Olsztyn (1523). It is not a list of what the treasurer has, but also a register of what he had and is no longer in his possession due to alterations to clothing and the transfer of movable property to other people. This register is a current and practically used list, not just a documentation one. The amount of information included in the register is therefore significantly wider than is usually the case in movable property, especially in the context of the history of individual objects, referred to in sociological literature as the “life of things”. Giving them a “second life” is clearly visible, i.e. transforming ready-made clothes by tearing them and reusing individual parts to repair, finish or decorate other parts of the wardrobe. The second aspect is the use of clothes and fabrics in interpersonal relations, creating and maintaining social networks, building customer relationships, and finally using them to promote one’s position and prestige. A total of 160 ready-made clothes and textile accessories were listed in Mikołaj Szydłowiecki’s inventory. Of all the clothes included in this register, 109, i.e. 68%, were in the possession of the treasurer. Of the 51 pieces of clothing (32%) that no longer belonged to Szydłowiecki, 49 were given as gifts and two were loaned to other people. Of the 160 included in the register, 17 (10.5%) came from gifts to the treasurer.

Aim. Research on older adults (≥ 60) repeatedly confirms that the use of social networks has a rather positive effect on these users. The indicated trend leads us to the research of older adults with a focus on their motivations and challenges when using social networking sites. Methods. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with twenty-four older adults in Slovakia. The aim was to uncover the deeper processes and details that the members of the selected sample experience when using social networks. Results. The thematic analysis revealed a disproportion between low knowledge of social networks and willingness to use them in theresearch sample (Q1). While older adults rated their knowledge of social networks with a school grade of 4, they do not see this as an obstacle to their increasingly frequent use of social networks. Within the second research area (Q2), a set of seven motivations derived from the use of social networks among respondents were identified. Finally, four main challenges (Q3) were identified in the research. Conclusion. Research findings confirms not only older adults’ growing interest in using social networks, but also the need for adequate media education with a focus on ‘digital citizenship’, which emphasises both, skills and also knowledge. Cognitive value. When using social networks among older adults, their family members are the driving force behind respondents’ understanding (knowledge) and technological progress (practical skills). There is the necessity of advancement of digital competencies of older adults.

In the age of globalization and the dominance of digital technologies, public diplomacy is no longer the prerogative of politicians, as the number of agents of influence is constantly increasing. Openness and publicity dictate new rules of the political game and, accordingly, make new demands on public diplomacy of the state. In light of the global Covid-19 pandemic, digital technologies are becoming especially relevant, strengthening the importance of digital diplomacy as the newest direction of public diplomacy. The purpose of this paper is to study the international experience of integrated inclusion of digital diplomacy into the arsenal of public diplomacy and the opportunities and problems to apply that experience for the digitalization of Ukrainian public diplomacy. The need to understand digital diplomacy is determined by a number of factors, in particular, increasing information flows, the inclusion of diplomatic communication in the global context of networking, the use of new communication channels and tools as well as its intensity, and the emergence of new types of influence on the audience in diplomatic practice.  The experience of the leading world’s democracies shows the potential of digital diplomacy as a strategic resource for promoting national interests and implementation of diplomatic tasks and state political doctrine. The essence of the cultural and political dimension of digital diplomacy is that the use of the latest information and communication tools in the foreign policy area contributes to strengthening the attractive image of the political culture of the state, ensuring the main goals of the country’s economy in the world economic space, as well as the promotion of national identity abroad. Digital diplomacy is a tool for spreading democratic values worldwide that creates a basis for global unity. Opportunities for the development of "digital diplomacy" in Ukraine seem to be limited by the lack of national information and communication strategy, the shortage of trained professionals, and a number of risks inherent in working on the Internet. Nevertheless, digital diplomacy in Ukraine is actively developing, involving more and more stakeholders in the process of information exchange. That is facilitated by the very nature of social media, which, like any living organism, is constantly evolving.

The relevance of the study is due to the fact that the influence of the Internet and media resources is growing and there is a tendency to develop virtual personalities that have little to do with reality and show the features of an antisocial person. In this regard, this article is aimed at identifying aspects and characteristics of a network personality that is influenced by modern media resources. The leading methods of studying this problem are methods of analysis, deduction and classification, which will help to recognize the most basic aspects of the figurative-visual transformation of a person on the Internet, show the results of the influence of social networks on a person and demonstrate the changes that a person is exposed to in the Internet space. The article reveals and substantiates the features and aspects that are distinctive for an individual in the Internet society, negative and positive characteristics of Internet users. The author substantiates the daily interactivity of social media. Also, the most relevant and influential forms of network interaction are shown and the frequency of their use is analysed. The materials of the article are of practical value for students, teenagers, youth, parents, future teachers who should know the aspect of the manifestation of personality transformation in the Internet space.

Zakłada on m.in. uzupełnienie istniejących modeli zarządzania publicznego o horyzontalne sieci interesariuszy polityki publicznej, ale też oparcie polityki na trzech zasadach - wymaganej różnorodności, wymaganej refleksyjności i postawy ironicznej. Publiczne instytucje kultury nazywane instytucjami ramowymi wspierają wdrażanie nowych technik zarządczych przede wszystkim poprzez tworzenie nowych sieci interesariuszy polityki kulturalnej i wsparcie już istniejących. Niniejszy opis instytucji powstał na podstawie wywiadów indywidualnych z osobami zaangażowanymi w tworzenie polityki publicznej w obszarze kultury zrealizowanych w drugiej połowie 2018 r.
The increasing complexity of the social world forces transformations within public policies, which are trying to adapt to the dynamically changing reality. The implementation of new management techniques in line with the model of metagovernance appears to be a common formula of such adaptation. The model involves complementing the existing management models with horizontal networks of public policy stakeholders as well as establishing the policy regarding three principles - of the required diversity, required reflexivity, and ironic attitude. Public cultural institutions that serve the role of framework institutions support the implementation of new management techniques, primarily by means of creating new and supporting existing networks of cultural policy stakeholders. The description of the institution is based on in-dept-interviews with individuals involved in the creation of public policy in the area of culture pursued in the second half of 2018.

It takes Instagram posts of Czech, Polish and Slovak influencers as an example and shows that manipulation techniques overreach the boundaries of countries and languages. If we accept the thesis that manipulation is dominantly a non-ecological phenomenon, which threatens the life of wider ecosystems, the reaction of school is inevitable, especially because children and youth form a highly vulnerable group.

Opis:
This article draws on two studies conducted between 2016 and 2018 on the nature of labor migration from Ukraine to Poland. Using quantitative and qualitative data, it analyses the relationship between social networks and employment agencies. Building on research into migration infrastructure, we question the dichotomy—which also appears in migrants’ narratives—between migrant social networks and labor brokers, and offer evidence of overlap and interdependence between the two. Exploring various aspects of labor migration, we look at the role played by the social networks of the actors (both the migrants and the intermediaries) in enhancing migration infrastructure. We show how migrants use their social capital in regard to labor brokers and how the latter, rather than replacing networks, mobilize their network resources and experience to create a trusted transnational service.
