Subject and purpose of work: The subject of this study is the region of Eastern Slovakia. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the impact of tourism on regional development. To analyse the influence of tourism facilities on regional development selected indicators of tourism development are used. Materials and methods: The material consists of data from the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic, the Ministry of Transport and Construction of the Slovak Republic and selected municipalities. The data are processed by methods of descriptive statistics. Results and conclusions: The article explains the importance of tourism in the development of the Eastern Slovakia region. Based on the analysis of economic impacts of tourism on the regional development we can conclude that tourism has minimal effects on this region.
Przedmiot i cel pracy: Przedmiotem niniejszego opracowania jest region wschodniej Słowacji. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest ocena wpływu turystyki na rozwój regionalny. Do analizy wpływu obiektów turystycznych na rozwój regionalny wykorzystywane są wybrane wskaźniki rozwoju turystyki. Materiały i metody: Materiał składa się z danych Urzędu Statystycznego Republiki Słowackiej, Ministerstwa Transportu i Budownictwa Republiki Słowackiej oraz wybranych gmin. Dane są przetwarzane za pomocą metod statystyki opisowej. Wyniki i wnioski: Artykuł wyjaśnia znaczenie turystyki w rozwoju regionu wschodniej Słowacji. Na podstawie analizy gospodarczych wpływów turystyki na rozwój regionu Słowacji Wschodniej można wnioskować, że turystyka ma minimalny wpływ na ten region.

W niniejszym opracowaniu przedstawiono historię wejścia Słowacji do strefy Euro. Przeanalizowano pierwsze efekty z przyjęcia nowej waluty na podstawie najnowszych danych z gospodarki. Celem badania było przedsyskutowanie spodziewanych korzyści, jak np. elimiacja ryzyka kursowego, spadek kosztów transakcyjnych, stabilność cen, wzrost wymiany handlowej i poprawa wiarygodności kredytowej. Te efekty oczekiwane dzięki przyjęciu euro zostały skonforntowane z bieżacymi danymi z rynku. Ostatecznie postawiona została hipoteza, mówiąca, że pozytywne efekty z przyjęcia nowej waluty są głównie skutkiem tego, że Słowacja jest małym krajem. Metodologia użyta w niniejszym opracowaniu oparta jest przede wszystkim na krytycznym przeglądzie literaturowym najnowszych publikacji.

The author has tried to bring significant contributions and interesting suggestions, which were presented at a seminar taken during the ending of the European Year for Active Ageing and Intergenerational Solidarity 2012. Institute of Philosophy, Czech Republic, Department for the study of science, technology and society organized on 30 November 2012 at the premises of the conference center of the Philosophical Institute in Prague seminar of the series "Bioethics and civil society" to mark the ending of the European Year of Active Ageing and Intergenerational Solidarity in 2012 under the name aging society and its ethical problems. The seminar opened the Philosophical Institute Director Paul Baran, who likened aging to silver economy. The seminar was divided into three thematic units (news, view of old age and practical contexts), which has been said a few interesting posts.

Hungarians are the largest autochthonous national minority of the Slovak republic. Their number and proportion is steadily decreasing. The reduction of Hungarian population is caused by interactions between the following four factors: anonyme nationality, hidden migration, natural decline and as- similation. The strongest factor is the assimilation by the author understood as a change of national identity.

The study focuses on two Slovak corruption cases, both well-documented and of similar social relevance, of which one did not receive any cross-media coverage. Moreover, the case of large-scale bribery was rather under-hyped in comparison to other major corruption scandals occurring in the country. The case of cronyism formed a typical example of extremely poor inter-media coverage of highly unfair and politicised cronyism. Through these cases, especially in the one in which the media failed to stimulate the creation of a full-blown scandal, the study further analyses the criteria and circumstances that determine the worthiness of a case for wide media coverage. The study on Slovakia is framed within theories of scandalous reporting and the theory of agenda setting and inter-media agenda setting role of the media, and supported by quantitative analysis of actual media coverage of the bribery case.

The article is devoted to the coverage of the political crisis in Slovakia in 1947, which for the Czech and Slovak communists, became a kind of dress rehearsal for the future nationwide putsch of 1948. The research methodology is based on general scientific and special scientific methods, allowing the authors to avoid inconsistency, imprecision, and detachment from the objective historical process. The article's authors note that the impetus for the political crisis of 1947 was the victory of the Democratic Party in the parliamentary elections of 1946 in Slovakia. This prevented the further strengthening of the position of the communists in the national system of state power by creating the prerequisites for forming an anti-communist bloc of Czech and Slovak parties. The victory of the Democratic Party in Slovakia also stood in the way of the rapid implementation of socialist transformations on the Soviet model. To avoid political isolation and clear the way for the communization of Slovakia, the communist parties of the republic started a struggle against the Democratic Party to remove it from power. The article highlights the communists' accusation against the Democratic Party of supporting the reactionary forces of the state, connections with the people's underground and emigration. The authors did not ignore the influence of external factors and attempts of the communists to use in the fight against the democrats the dissatisfaction of partisans and the left wing of the Resistance movement with the course of “purges” of Slovak national bodies from reactionary elements. The authors of the article state that the DP leadership was not ready for an aggressive communist attack, and the expected help from the Czech democratic parties did not come. The latter believed the claims of the communists that there was a real threat of separatism and a repetition of the events of “March 14, 1939” in Slovakia. As a result, through a discrediting campaign, fabrication of cases of state “enemies”, threats of mass strikes by supporters, and provocation of a government crisis, the communists managed to eliminate the majority of the Democratic Party in the Slovak national bodies, legitimately existing as a result of the 1946 elections, and to strengthen their own positions in Slovakia. The political crisis of 1947 opened the way for Slovakia to slide from democracy to dictatorship

The discussion devoted to the climate crisis, like the crisis itself, is not a natural phenomenon but one that is wo-/man-made. It is socially constructed. It is not economic think-tanks that dominate this socially constructed discussion but other actors that do. This article analyses who is quoted and paraphrased in Slovak media writing about climate change. The analysis is based on 60 articles that were published in the third quarter of 2019 in selected non-tabloid daily newspapers (i.e. the quality press) in Slovakia – SME and N. The results show that natural scientists dominate the media discussion of this topic and are the source of almost one-third of the statements quoted and paraphrased in the newspapers. They are followed by politicians, who make up one-fifth of those quoted or paraphrased. Social scientists, activists, and NGOs each make up just 7% of those quoted or paraphrased. This research represents the first step towards answering the question ‘Who speaks?’ when it comes to this issue and towards a more thorough discourse analysis that could reveal how certain voices are marginalised in the mainstream public debate.

The author analyzes the policy of Poland towards autonomous Slovakia in the period of six months from the Munich Conference to forming in Spring 1939 formally independent, separate Slovak state. The government in Warsaw made a serious mistake by demanding in Autumn 1938 to join some small pieces of Slovakias territory to Poland. The realization of those demands led to rapid weakening of strong at that time Polish influences in Slovakia and accelerated the process of strengthening German influences. As a result, not only had Slovakia allowed the Germans in September 1939 to use its territory to attack Poland, but also itself took part in fights alongside the Wehrmacht.
