Opis:
Die Verbreitung der Mission der Heiligen Gebrüder von Soluri, der Schutzherren Europas, auf die südlichen Gebiete Polens hüllt sich ins Dunkel der Geschichte. In der polnischen Wissenschaft dauert eine langjährige diese Thematik betreffende Diskussion. Ziel des vorliegenden Artikels ist es, den Verlauf dieser Diskussion in der wissenschaftlichen Literatur vom Ende des 19. und Anfang des 20. Jhs. darzustellen. Der Autor zeigt in dem Artikel sowohl die Stellungen der Anhänger des slawischen Ritus als auch die der Gegenseite, die sich bemüht hat, in unterschiedlichem Grad bei einzelnen Autoren (Szczesniak, Parczewski, Brückner) durch eine kritische Analyse der Quellen und anderer Argumente nachzuweisen, dass der slawische Ritus in Polen nicht vorhanden war, oder er verschwand nach kurzzeitigem Erscheinen, ohne in der Geschichte Polens eine bedeutende Rolle zu spielen (Potkariski, Abraham). Der Autor stellt fest, dass das Problem der Existenz des slawischen Ritus im frühmittelalterlichen Polen weiterhin ein Diskussionsgegenstand in der polnischen Wissenschaft bildet. Dem Problem sollen jedoch weitere Artikel gewidmet werden.

The paper discusses a little known manuscript dictionary dating from the beginning of the 18th c. that is stored in the manuscript division of the Jagiellonian Library (Ms.Slav. Qu. 28 Lexicon slavo-rutenicum). In actual fact we are dealing with a trilingual (East) Slavic-Latin-German dictionary, which is unfinished (barely reaching the end of letter “o”), and consists of 746 pages in quarto format. The author is thought to be French polyglot and orientalist, Mathurin Veyssière de La Croze. The primary objective of the paper is to discuss the typological-etymological and functional-stylistic typology of the East Slavic vocabulary included in the analysed lexicon. A preliminary overview of the Slavic lexis in the Slavic-Ruthenian Lexicon suggests that the dictionary of the past is worth publishing, so it would become available to a broader group studying the history of East Slavic languages.

The first Sorbian bibliographic registers were compiled in the 18th century and also became a tool for the growing nationalhistorical awareness of the Sorbian intelligentsia. In 1847, the society named Maćica Serbska was founded to promote scholarly and cultural discussions for a national-cultural discourse. In this function, it also made publication activities possible. In addition, the society founded a central Sorbian library and recorded all new Sorbian-language books in its journal. A genuine Sorbian bibliography was compiled by Jakub Wjacsławk in 1929 (re-issued and supplemented in 1952). The Institute for Sorbian People Research, founded in Bautzen in 1951 (since 1992 called the Sorbian Institute) continued this work. Predominantly in five-year intervals, altogether ten volumes of this bibliography were published in the period 1945–2005. Since 1986, this was done electronically, establishing a database, which has been made available on the website of the Sorbian Institute since 2003 and also forms part of the German-language virtual library Slavistik, the so called Slavistik-Portal.

Celem artykułu jest opis czasowników z niesłowiańską cząstką re- w historii języka polskiego, z uwzględnieniem tła słowiańskiego. Omówiono: genezę i chronologię zjawiska, proces wydzielania się prefiksu re- z serii zapożyczeń łacińskich, zależności genetyczno-morfologiczne pomiędzy prefiksem re- a rodzajami podstaw słowotwórczych, relacje motywacyjne zachodzące pomiędzy derywatami czasownikowymi z re- a wyrazami motywującymi, semantykę czasowników z re- oraz uwarunkowania stylistyczno-pragmatyczne tych czasowników. Przeprowadzone badania pozwoliły ustalić, że prefiks re- ma długą tradycję w polszczyźnie, ale jego łączliwość jest ograniczona do podstaw genetycznie obcych. Wskazano także na polisemiczność prefiksu re-, która może zależeć od semantyki podstaw, oraz na przynależność czasowników z re- do specjalistycznej leksyki naukowo- technicznej. Podobnymi właściwościami charakteryzują się derywaty werbalne na re- także w innych językach słowiańskich.
The article aims to describe verbs with non-Slavic prefix re- in the history of the Polish language, including the Slavic background. Discussed issues include: origins and chronology of the phenomenon, the process of evolution of the prefix re- from a series borrowings from Latin, genetic and morphological links between the prefix re- and the types root words, motivational relationships, semantics, as well as the stylistic and pragmatic characteristics of verbs prefixed by re-. It has been established through research that the prefix re- has a long tradition in the Polish language, but its connectivity is limited to genetically foreign roots. Also indicated has been the polysemy of the prefix and the fact that the re- verbs belong in a specialised scholarly and technical vocabulary. Similar properties characterise verbal derivatives prefixed with re- also in other Slavic languages.

In the last fifteen years, research on the Slavic Gospel manuscript tradition have reached new and important achievements especially with the spread of computer technology and digitization process. Taking into account progress in the study of the Greek manuscript tradition, the author explains some basic guidelines: the textual structure of the Gospel book, the Menologion pericopes, the Gospel book ornamentation, the new editions. At the end the main essays on individual manuscripts or on particular issues are introduced. The Slavic Gospel, therefore, is still a key issue of Slavic studies in the field of Slavic paleography, textual criticism, and linguistic analysis.

Archives are important places for researching and reconstructing the past, they lead to discoveries, and they can refute dominant stereotypes. Despite that fact, Serbian feminist scholars have neglected archival research of women writers. In this paper the author points out to resistance of the main Serbian institutions to digitalize archival sources of women writers and indicates some consequences of contemporary feminists’ stance to historical sources. The author directs attention to some important but ignored examples of archival materials in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Since they offer informative, significant, and complex account on the past, they can help reconstruct of the South Slavic culture and establish the importance of women writers. Keywords

The article is devoted to reflection on the role of the Aryan discourse in the research of Slavophiles of the 19th century. Traditional studies on the ethnogenesis of the Slavs conducted by historians on the basis of ancient “scraps” and incomplete sources did not give the answer that would satisfy the political ambitions of the Poles. The inclusion of ethnographic and linguistic methods into the Slavic studies helped create the narrative in which the journey, made by the early Slavs from the Land of Aryans, became a full history of the people’s origin. The conviction about the Indo-Iranian origin of the Slavs shaped the mythical thinking and attempts to create a story legitimizing the right to self-determination and the historical significance of this group. The belief in ancient Aryan heritage considerably changed political orientation and the pursuit of a new identity – free of inferiority complex with respect to the West and ready to dictate its own conditions. Discussing the issues related to race and racial differences between particular peoples, including the ones belonging to the Slavic family, showed the authors’ political views and the future of the nation they envisaged. It also deepened the split within the Slavic studies. The sources available and studied by the Slavic history researchers did not provide clear answers to the question whether the Slavs are direct descendants of the Aryans, therefore the research and texts that are examined in the article have creational and commentary nature and serve the function of creating narratives shaping the community. The aim of this approach will be to reflect on how scientific discourse creates the foundations for identity myths.

Professor Tadeusz Skulina (1929–1992) was born in Katowice but from the Second World War he was connected with Great Poland. Also in Poznań, he studied Polish Studies and following his graduation became employed at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań where he completed the consecutive stages of his scholarly career. As a disciple of Professor Władysław Kuraszkiewicz he conducted research on the Polish language of the Old-Polish era and of the 16th century. His doctoral thesis (1964) was devoted to historical phonetics and historical dialectology but soon he changed his scholarly interests and entered the field of Slavic studies, especially East-Slavic languages. In his habilitation thesis he discussed the question of the Old-Ruthenian anthroponymy. This thesis, published in 1973, was the first original, so extensive and detailed thesis about the Old-Ruthenian names. As we know, in the period following the receipt of his habilitation degree Professor Tadeusz Skulina had plans to prepare a monograph about Polish feminine onomastics. He had pursued this for years, however, unfortunately, never managed to prepare a synthesis. He only left an unfinished editorial draft of this book. Apart from research activities, Professor Skulina was involved in didactics and also performed responsible administrative functions at the Institute of Polish Philology, was a member of numerous scholarly societies. For his achievements, he received many awards and honours. Professor Tadeusz Skulina died in 1992 after a long and emaciating illness. The scholarly achievements he has left inspire the successive generations of researchers. He also left unfinished written works and ideas which he never managed to realize.

Formally, Slavonic-Bulgarian History (Istoriya Slavyanobolgarskaya) of Paisius of Hilendar is a manifesto of the era and a source of knowledge for Bulgarians and other Slavic nations. However, the glorification of history and its prominent heroes, presented with the help of emotional rhetoric, indicates the educational and patriotic destiny of the work. Despite some factual inaccuracies, the work has become the second most important book after the Bible for the Bulgarian nation. The author also showed in it interesting facts that arouse discussions in contemporary science. The work cannot be named just a chronicle, because history in it not only enlightens, but is an indispensable foundation for statehood and national identity. The above statement leads to the conclusion that interest in work of Paisius is growing in European society, which underlines the rich past of the Slavs and is a symbol of the struggle of the Bulgarian people for its freedom.
