    The article presents the results of stability analysis of castings manufacturing system. For the analysis, the Six Sigma DMAIC (Define- Measure-Analyse-Improve-Control) methodology has been applied. The studies demonstrated the ability to reduce the variance of the process, and therefore the quantity of defects.

    The aim of the article is application of Six Sigma method in glue applying process during assembling of IGBT modules of products family SEMiX3 performed in manufacture of SEMIKRON company. There are also used other tools and methods as Pareto diagram, Ishikawa diagram, hypothesis testing, Voice of the customer, involved in DMAIC cycle. There was found, that the most important impact of the glue applying process is the amount of glue. This is related to time savings and also Money savings as well as reduce the number of repairs.

    Opis:
    The provision of quality transport services is a prerequisite for the creation of an efficient organization that can meet the expectations and requirements of both the enterprise itself and its customers. From the railway enterprise's point of view, it is necessary to pay attention to the increasingly demanding requirements of its customers in railway passenger transport. This article focuses on identifying defects in rail transport processes that negatively affect ordinary operations. One of the most serious bottlenecks affecting railway transport reliability is the train delay, which fundamentally affects the perception of railway transport. At the same time, it emphasizes the need to apply individual tools according to the DMAIC cycle in order to achieve continuous improvement. The aim of the implemented Six Sigma methodology in railway enterprise is disciplined application of statistical problem-solving tools to recognize the gaps in the transport process and set out individual steps for their gradual removal.

    Opis:
    The article aims to assess the improvement of the process capability by implementing the Six Sigma methodology in furniture enterprises with different levels of the quality management system (QMS) and ownership. The implementation of the Six Sigma methodology according to the DMAIC steps, also analysis, evaluation, and comparison of the implementation results were performed to improve the process performance. The implementation of the Six Sigma methodology was carried out in an international enterprise with foreign capital and a certified Quality Management System (QMS) and in a domestic enterprise with purely domestic capital without an established Quality Management System. The implementation results confirmed the positive development in the key indicators of critical processes, namely, in the reduction of DPMO, the increase of efficiency and the level of Sigma Process, and the values of process capability indices. The positive effects were more pronounced in the international enterprise compared to the domestic. The application of the Six Sigma methodology brings better results in manufacturing companies with international management skills and implemented certified QMS. These two aspects can be key success factors by managing and improving process capability. The practical contribution of the paper can be seen in the proposal of suitable methods and tools by implementing Six Sigma conception in furniture manufacturing regardless of the ownership or level of quality management systems.

    Artykuł przedstawia rozwój podejść do rozwiązywania problemów w przemyśle opartych na metodzie naukowej. Rozwój systemów produkcyjnych w kierunku produkcji masowej oraz zmieniające się wymagania klienta zmienił traktowanie problemów jakościowych – uprzednio klasyfikowanych jako techniczne teraz stały się czynnikiem ekonomicznym wpływającym na wynik finansowy firmy. W związku z powyższym techniki rozwiązywania problemów musiały się również zmieniać.
    In the article presented development of problem solving approaches used in industry based on the scientific method. Growth of production systems into direction of mass production and changing over time customer requirements has modified defining quality related problems – formerly classified as technical, nowadays they have become economic influential factor affecting business results of any organization. Consequently, problem solving techniques had to evolve, too.
