Opis:: The article presents the problem of self-commitment as the foundation of one’s identity. It refers to the conceptions of Immanuel Kant and Christine Korsgaard to expose the role of norms in shaping one’s identity. However, it stresses the fact that the process of self- constitution as a result of self-commitment needs also a teleological frame. Self-commitment requires an aim to explain why it is worth undertaking it. Kant’s teleology can be found in his humanism while Korsgaard’s teleology in her identifications with norms. They both seem to understand humanity as a value and an end. Hence humanity appears as the sources of obligation and motivation. Understanding humanity as a value makes self-commitment not only possible but also meaningful.

Opis:: This study explores the relationship between teachers’ sense of efficacy and their organizational commitment at colleges in Pakistan. It was conducted on a sample comprising 494 public-sector Pakistani college teachers. Tschannen-Moran and Hoy (2001) developed the teachers’ sense of efficacy scale, and John P. Meyer and Natalie J. Allen's developed organizational commitment scale (1991) was applied to collect the data. Hypotheses were tested using the Pearson Product Moment formula. The effects of the factors of the teachers’ sense of efficacy on organizational commitment were determined using the Regression Analysis. It was determined that a higher degree of teachers’ sense of efficacy enhances organizational commitment, as highlighted by a significant positive correlation between the teachers’ sense of efficacy and organizational commitment. There was a significant positive correlation between three factors of the teachers’ sense of efficacy scale and three components of organizational commitment of college teachers. It was also established that the teachers’ sense of efficacy can predict organizational commitment. The study shows that teachers’ sense of efficacy must be considered when selecting and training prospective teachers. To become efficient and effective, teaching organizations must pay considerable attention to monitoring and boosting the positive Sense of self-efficacy among their teaching staff.

Opis:: Objectives The aim of this study has been to examine the degree to which it is possible to predict job satisfaction in hospital nurses based on core self-evaluation and the nurses’ professional commitment. Psychological constructs of nurses’ professional commitment could predict a level of job satisfaction. Material and Methods A cross-sectional design was applied. Data was collected from 584 nurses of the University Hospital Osijek between April and November 2016. Core Self-Evaluation Scale (CSES), Job Satisfaction Survey (JSS) and Nurses‘ Professional Commitment Scale (NPCS) were administrated to the study participants. Confirmatory factor analyses were conducted to test the validity of each questionnaire. Structural equation modeling was used for testing the prediction of nurses’ professional commitment and core self-evaluation of job satisfaction. Nurses’ professional commitment is variable, which functions as a mediator between predictor (core selfevaluation – CSE) and criterion variable (job satisfaction – JS). As a mediator, it explains what the effect is, provided that correlations among all variables are significant. Results The correlation analyses reveal significant positive correlations between job satisfaction and core self-evaluation (r = 0.441, p > 0.001) as well as between job satisfaction and nurses’ professional commitment (r = 0.464, p > 0.001). Furthermore, core self-evaluation significantly and positively correlates with nurses’ professional commitment (r = 0.402, p > 0.001). The results have shown that nurses’ professional commitment mediates the relationship between core self-evaluation and job satisfaction. The bootstrap analysis showed that core self-evaluation partially mediated the relationship between nurses’ professional commitment and job satisfaction (β = 0.78, p < 0.001**). The indirect effects of core self-evaluation on job satisfaction through nurses’ professional commitment was also significant (β = 0.17, p < 0.001**). Conclusions Nurses who are more committed to their work, regardless of the structure of personality, have greater satisfaction in their work. Int J Occup Med Environ Health 2018;31(5):649–658

Opis:: The article presents a study concerning the relations between identity formation processes as theorized by Luyckx and colleagues (2008) and the formation of self-authoring personality according to Obuchowski (2011). The aim of the study was to establish whether and how identity formation processes are related to the overall level of self-authoring (manifesting itself in the levels of agency, intentionality, meaning in life, and creative adaptation), whether and how particular characteristics of self-authoring personality explain the intensity of identity formation processes, and whether and how the intensity of identity formation processes determines the formation of self-authoring personality. The participants were 140 people aged 30 to 39 (M = 33.15, SD = 2.48). The results indicate positive associations of the processes of commitment making and identification with commitment with the overall level of self-authoring and as well as a negative association between ruminative exploration and the overall level of self-authoring. A strong relationship was found between the configuration of variables making up a non-self-authoring personality and the configuration of variables referred to as ruminative moratorium.

Opis:: The article describes the functioning of Youth District Councils in Warsaw. These councils function in most city districts (16 councils in 18 districts). For the sake of research, 8 Youth District Councils were chosen. In general, 8 adult tutors of the Councils were interviewed individually, as well as more than 30 young councillors, among them 8 Council presidents. The gathered research material allowed to explore the diffi culty of the Council functioning in Warsaw. According to its principle, the council is supposed to function as a consulting and advisory organ. Yet the interviews and activity analysis of the councils prove that they mainly focus on organisational tasks. The article indicates the main obstacles and the weaknesses of Youth District Councils. The Author describes the fi elds that need intervention of offi cials who are in charge of designing and realising youth policy.

Opis:: This study focused on relations between identity and sense of self-sufficiency. These relations were analysed in the context of educational and vocational activity. 204 persons without disabilities and 230 persons with different kinds of disability participated in the study. Participants were divided into three groups: (1) 18-24-year-olds – students, (2) 25-30–yearolds – unemployed and (3) 25-30–year-olds – employed. The results revealed that unemployed people have significant problems with identity formation. This group obtained the highest scores on ruminative exploration and the lowest scores on the scales of commitment making and identification with commitment. Self-sufficiency proved to be a moderator of the relations between educational/vocational activity on the one hand and exploration in breadth and exploration in depth on the other hand. In students, level of exploration was high in individuals with a high sense of self-sufficiency whereas in the unemployed strong exploration was observed in the group with low sense of self-sufficiency. The need to conduct studies where participants are recruited from populations which seldom attract researchers’ interest, such as the unemployed and people of low social status, is also noted.

Opis:: The prime purpose of this study is to evaluate the role of self-efficacy in job satisfaction and employee commitment. Self-efficacy refers to individual’s conviction in their ability to successfully execute a given task (Bandura, 1997). Ensuring job satisfaction and increasing employee commitment are important issues faced by organizations. Results of this study depict that self-efficacy is significantly and positively associated with job satisfaction and commitment. Findings of the study have got implication on gaining competitive advantage. Contemporary scholars argue that obtaining competitive advantage through traditional resources is not sustainable as proprietary information, economic resources, and technology are available. Self-efficacy being a positive psychological resource is not easily replicable by competitors and thus can serve as a source of competitive advantage. Further, self-efficacy training can be devised to enhance self-efficacy in employees. Improvement in self-efficacy is likely to foster growth in self-leadership behavior, commitment, job satisfaction, and performance.
Głównym celem tego badania jest ocena roli własnej skuteczności w satysfakcji z pracy i zaangażowania pracowników. Poczucie własnej skuteczności odnosi się do przekonania jednostki w jej zdolność do pomyślnego wykonania danego zadania (Bandura, 1997). Zapewnienie satysfakcji z pracy oraz zwiększenie zaangażowania pracowników to ważne kwestie, z którymi borykają się organizacje. Wyniki badania pokazują, że poczucie własnej skuteczności jest istotnie i pozytywnie związane z satysfakcją z pracy i zaangażowaniem. Ustalenia przedstawione w analizie mają wpływ na uzyskanie przewagi konkurencyjnej. Współcześni uczeni argumentują, że uzyskanie przewagi konkurencyjnej za pomocą tradycyjnych środków nie jest zrównoważone jak zastrzeżone informacje, zasoby gospodarcze i dostępne technologie. Własna skuteczność będąc pozytywnym zasobem psychologicznym nie jest łatwa do powielenia przez konkurencję, a zatem może służyć jako źródło przewagi konkurencyjnej. Ponadto szkolenie własnej skuteczności może być opracowane w celu zwiększenia poczucia własnej skuteczności u pracowników. Poprawa wlasnej skuteczności może wspierać wzrost zachowań samoprzywództwa, zaangażowania, satysfakcji z pracy i wydajności.

Opis:: Wyniki badań socjologicznych dotyczących przemian religijności wskazują na głębsze zmiany, jakie dokonują się w tej sferze w ostatnich latach. Warto więc zwrócić uwagę na przemiany religijne młodzieży, gdyż mogą być one traktowane jako swoistego rodzaju barometr zapowiadający przyszłe trendy rozwojowe. W artykule została ukazana religijność młodzieży maturalnej w Puławach. Materiał empiryczny wykorzystany do analiz socjologicznych został zebrany podczas badań ankietowych przeprowadzonych w latach 1994, 2009, 2016 oraz 2021, w tych samych puławskich szkołach ponadpodstawowych, za pomocą tego samego kwestionariusza ankiety pt. „Maturzyści a wartości moralne”. Artykuł jest próbą odpowiedzi na pytanie badawcze, jakie zmiany dokonały się na przestrzeni blisko 30 lat w religijności ankietowanej młodzieży, jaki przybierają one kierunek, a także jakie jest tempo tych przemian. Do nakreślenia religijności młodzieży maturalnej zostały wybrane następujące wskaźniki: autodeklaracje wyznaniowe i religijne, praktyki religijne, zaangażowanie religijne.
The results of sociological studies on the transformation of religiosity indicate the deeper changes that have been taking place in this sphere in recent years. Therefore, it is worth paying attention to the religious transformations of the youth, as they can be regarded as a kind of barometer foreshadowing future development trends. The article shows the religiosity of secondary school students in Puławy. The empirical material used for the sociological analyses was collected during surveys carried out in 1994, 2009, 2016 and 2021, in the same secondary schools in Puławy, using the same survey questionnaire entitled “Secondary school graduates and moral values.” This article attempts to answer the research question of what changes have taken place over nearly 30 years in the religiosity of the surveyed youth, what direction these changes are taking and what is the pace of these changes. The following indicators were chosen to outline the religiosity of secondary school students: religious and religious self-declarations, religious practises, religious commitment.

Opis:: Celem artykułu jest prezentacja wyników badań pierwotnych i wtórnych pozwalających na weryfikację zależności dotyczącej wpływu zaangażowania społecznego i przywiązania do miejsca zamieszkania na poziom satysfakcji klientów z usług samorządu lokalnego. Podstawę weryfikacji stanowiły wyniki przeprowadzonych badań ankietowych, które w postępowaniu badawczym uzupełniono studiami literaturowymi. Rezultatem analiz jest identyfikacja modelu potwierdzającego przyjęte założenie.
An aim of the article is to present findings of primary and secondary research along verification of the dependence related to the impact of social commitment and attachment to the residence on the level of customer satisfaction with services provided by the local self-government. The grounds for verification were results of the carried out surveys supplemented in the course of research with literature studies. An outcome of analyses is identification of the model confirming the adopted premise.
Цель статьи – представить результаты первичных и вторичных исследований, позволяющих провести верификацию зависимости, касающейся влияния социального вовлечения и приверженности к месту жительства на уровень удовлетворения клиентов от услуг местного самоуправления. Основу для верификации представляли результаты проведенных опросов, которые по ходу изучения дополнили изучением литературы. Результат анализов – выявление модели, подтверждающей принятое предположение.
