Between 1990 and 2014 maritime and air transport, together with telecommunications in Poland underwent deep fluctuations and structural changes based on dynamic systematic and economic transformations, the EU membership and technological change. Air freight increased, while the importance of maritime and inland water freight decreased. A spectacular increase was observed in air passenger transport, particularly on international routes. Maritime passenger transport slightly increased and at the same time inland passenger transport substantially decreased. Poland s membership in the EU caused a massive increase in international road and air transport, however, the overall freight decreased. The technological change was expressed particularly through the development of mobile communications and the Internet

In the modern world, in Europe and in Poland, many forms of cooperation between states and enterprises can be observed. Many business entities take a lot of effort to offer the most up-to-date services and to prepare sales and marketing networks ready to win on a competitive market. These processes affect transport market as well. The article focuses on global transport services, in particular on the competition in international cargo traffic on the China-Europe route. It is presented on the background of the globalization and competitive processes in transport services. The demand for transport services, resulting from rapid growth of China is discussed, with particular interest in two modes of transport: railway and sea. The article considers the conditions for China-Europe rail transport due to the recent initiatives towards building the "Silk Road". It opens new possibilities for rail transport to compete on the China - Europe route, especially considering the factor of time. The conclusions present the guidelines for further development in the area of transport services on the China-Europe route.

The article presents the issue of the transport of goods in relation to sea transport. Sea transport has been known to mankind for a long time. Currently, maritime transport is not limited only to the transport of goods and/or passengers along sea routes, which are carried out between seaports using appropriately adapted means of transport. It is a branch of transport, which consists of a very good knowledge of navigation, highly specialized staff, and a wide range of containers for transporting various types of cargo, often requiring specialized conditions. In addition, sea transport is perfectly combined with intermodal transport, so that in the end, the transport process is the most beneficial for all participants, i.e., the customers, sellers, distributors, and manufacturers. The main purpose of the article was to present the volume of goods transported in this branch of transport. The article, after introducing the issue, presents the classification of sea vessels, refers to the market of maritime transport services and its conditions for further development, and analyzes the overall volume of goods transported in the seaports of Gdańsk and Gdynia against the background of other Polish seaports in the years 2011-2021.

In Search and Rescue (SAR) operations on sea are use special ships with trained crew. In situation when the rescue ship is not available SAR action coordinator may use merchant ships that are in the accident area to help ship in danger. Merchant ship has not special equipment to search survivors and according to small number of crew, cargo on board and stability situation may be not suitable for SAR operation. Some weather conditions may be danger for this ship and there may be two ships in danger instead of one. The action coordinator is responsible to choose good vessel. The paper will present elements that should be taken into consideration. Article will show usage of Bayesian network to estimate which ship is better for SAR action This tool will help coordinator to make good decision. Paper specified elements of merchant ship usability for SAR action based on safety during action with algorithm of MSC decision according use of merchant ship. The paper also show example of calculations of hypothetic rescue action on the Mediterranean Sea using GeNIe program, which include probability of safety search patternfor ship, weather condition and other variables. Results show Mir Emad to be the least useful ship. The best result has tanker Excel, but during calculation didn't take into consideration type of the ship.

Opis:
An indispensable component of ensuring safe control of railway and sea transport in conditions of hot climate is maintenance of comfortable temperature of air in control cabins and living spaces. Now the interest is restored to use the Air Refrigerating Plants (ARP) as they have a wide potential of low-temperature cooling without use of ozone-destructive cooling agents prohibited by decision of die Montreal meeting. At the same time, air conditioning installations on the basis of turbo-expanders have low refrigerating factor, they are very expensive in manufacturing and require a high level of maintenance service. Alternative trend of perfection of air refrigeration units is connected with a new principle of organization of working process, based on the use as expander and compressor of aggregates of cascade exchanger of pressure (CPE). Besides of unsurpassed efficiency of exchange processes, CPE is characterized by simplicity of design and high reliability, including, due to low frequency of rotation (2000-3000 min") with practically absence of consumption of mechanical energy on the drive of the rotor. The attractive aspect of application of equipment of conditioning with CPE is the opportunity of organization of working process only due to thermal energy including the utilization in the heat-power installation of transport vehicle.

This paper presents a functional model of river-sea ships (shortly called: SRM) operating in European system of transport corridors. It is composed of two parts: Part I contains a descriptive model of functioning the SRM fleet with taking into account various shipping tasks as well as impact factors (external and internal factors, limitations and criteria). Also, a mathematical model of functioning the SRM fleet, including choice of relevant economic criteria (e.g. profit maximization, capital return period minimization etc), is presented. Results achieved on the basis of the functional model are presented in Part II of the paper.

Omówiono sposoby wyliczania sił działających na ładunek podczas przewożenia oraz sił jakie działają na niego podczas hamowania i pokonywania zakrętów.
The article is devoted to the discussion of procedures related to the carriage of cargo by road transport. Methods of fixing loads to the floor of the cargo space of the car are presented. Methods of calculating the forces acting on the load during transport and the forces acting on it during braking and cornering are discussed.

This paper presents continuation of the research on the functional model of river-sea ships operating in European system of transport corridors. It deals with a set of methods of determination of design assumptions for river-sea ships. Relevant calculations were performed on the basis of a future network of European routes for operating the river-sea ships within EU system of water transport corridors, in which rates of cargo flows and lengths of particular routes as well as their mathematical model were taken into account. In consequence, technical assumptions for designing the fleet of river-sea ships to be operated in European system of water transport corridors, were obtained.

A single polymer composite comprises a composite built out of fibres and a matrix, both made of the same or a very similar polymer material, where the components may differ with: molecular mass, density or branching degree. Such thermoplastic composites provide the beneficial mechanical characteristics required for reinforced materials, and their great advantage is the ease of full material recycling after the end of use. The aim of the presented work is to provide a description of the manufacturing technology, with a definition of the possibility for the waste of single polymer polyester composites to undergo a full material recycling process, oriented towards use in shipbuilding. A proposed idea for recycling is in the preparatory stage and its assumptions and the process followed will be the subject of a patent application. This work forms part of the studies realized in the scope of the REP-SAIL Project under the ERA-NET Transport III Initiative Future Travelling, carried out at the Maritime University of Szczecin, and the prepared doctoral thesis entitled “Manufacturing, shaping of operational properties and recycling of single polymer composite materials”.

The paper presented methodologies of building coverage zones and accuracy zones for two-elements azimuthal and stadiometric navigation systems and there-elements hyperbolical navigation systems. The methodologies are support tools for creating new and modernization exists navigation systems. Navigation systems are essential in ensuring safe navigation in sea transport.

Celem pracy była analiza zderzeń na morzu, mających miejsce na akwenach świata w latach 2004–2014, w których wyniku doszło do zanieczyszczenia środowiska z powodu przedostania się do niego przewożonych substancji chemicznych oraz zniszczenia i zatonięcia jednostek pływających. Badania uzupełniono analizą typu statków uczestniczących w zderzeniach oraz rodzaju akwenów, na których doszło do omawianych wypadków.
The goal of the paper was the analysis of accidents including collisions and contacts of ships around world sea areas between 2004 and 2014 resulting in the sea environment pollution due to release of chemicals as well as in the total loss of ships and their sinking. Moreover, the type and age of ships affected the collisions or contacts and the locations of sea accidents as well as the consequences of these accidents were investigated.

We współczesnym świecie – w Europie i Polsce – można zaobserwować różne formy współpracy między państwami i przedsiębiorstwami. Wiele podmiotów gospodarczych dokłada wszelkich starań, aby oferować najbardziej aktualne usługi i przygotowywać sieci sprzedaży i marketing gotowe do wygrania na konkurencyjnym rynku. Te procesy determinują również rynek transportowy. Artykuł koncentruje się na problematyce globalnych usług transportowych, w szczególności na konkurencji międzynarodowego ruchu towarowego na trasie Chiny – Europa na tle globalizacji i procesów konkurencyjnych w usługach transportowych. Omówiono popyt na usługi transportowe wynikający z szybkiego wzrostu gospodarczego Chin, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem dwóch rodzajów transportu: kolejowego i morskiego. W artykule rozważono warunki dla kolejowego transportu w Chinach i Europie w związku z ostatnimi inicjatywami na rzecz budowy „Jedwabnego Szlaku”, który otwiera nowe możliwości dla transportu kolejowego, szczególnie biorąc pod uwagę czynnik czasu. W konkluzjach przedstawiono wytyczne dotyczące dalszego rozwoju usług transportowych na trasie Chiny – Europa.

One of the most important dynamic phenomenon recognized as dangerous to seagoing ships is the resonance gain of rolling. This may occur due to nonlinearity of ship response in resonance conditions, i.e. when the encounter wave frequency is similar to the natural frequency of ship roll motion. Such coincidence should be avoided therefore shipmaster steers clear of some configurations of speed and course resulting in potential synchronous rolling. Nowadays, according to the IMO Intact Stability Code the natural period of roll is determined with the use of very simplified GM-based formula. The paper deals with the problem of more sophisticated prediction of ship’s natural rolling frequency with the use of the one degree-of-freedom roll equation with regard to nonlinear restoring moment. A special emphasis is put on the damping coefficient modelling which remains one of the crucial issues in terms of rolling simulation. Two typical approaches to the damping coefficient estimation are tested, the linear and the nonlinear one according to Ikead’s method. The set of ship roll simulations is carried out for a wide range of excitation frequency and a variety of exciting moment. The results of computation focused on the natural frequency of ship roll prediction are compared to assess the influence of damping model selection.
