Opis:
In Lower Silesia, in the late Miocene sediments moldavites were discovered. Finding of polish moldavites may change the existing model of tektites distribution, after the impact in the Ries crater area. Further studies are planned and should bring a new information.

Opis:
Upper Jurassic sediments of the Ries crater contain numerous fossils including massive and calcite belemnites, which show brittle deformations caused by impact shockwave. The structures are observed in macro and micro scale. SEM observations allowed to distinguish different tectonic forms in investigated material, what show the individualism of breccias formed during the Ries impact.

Opis:
Up to now, twenty Polish moldavites were recovered from fluvial deposits of Gozdnica formation. Apart from typical bottle green colour, moldavites also yield other typical features for tektites like presence of bubbles and inclusions of lechatelierite. Low degree of corrosion and palaeogeography suggest river transport flow from Lusatia to the east direction in the Miocene.

Opis:
The article is based on artistic research and concerns the case of Russian woman sculptor Teresa Feodorowna Ries (1866-1956), who gained the position of a prominent artist at the time of Austro-Hungarian Empire and the First Austrian Republic. In 1938 her studio was 'Aryanised' and she had to flee to Switzerland. There are three intertwining threads in the article. The first one refers to some facts from Ries's life, that seem to be significant for the conducted research. The second concerns the fate of her sculptures during and after the Second World War, with a particular focus on The Witch (Die Hexe), which, according to the surviving documents and the opinions of art restorers, has been damaged on more than one occasion, and under varying circumstances. There are also considered possible causes of this damage, which in the opinion of the author are related to the rebellious meaning of this sculpture, both in its title and in its form of artistic expression. The last thread is an explanation of the author's interest as a contemporary Polish woman artist in Teresa Ries and her Witch. The Witch by Teresa Ries is the contradiction of a consistent image through and through. Firstly, because although we see the influence of different artistic styles in the form of this sculpture and the traces of diverse cultural traditions in its allegorical layer. Secondly, because the sculpture today is damaged and some of its parts are missing. Thus The Witch, a witness of history, of political and social changes, is an accusation against the HIStory, institutions, politics towards women (artists), and antisemitism, that support patriarchal order. However, The Witch as a representation of the character of the witch in culture has an inspiring potential for political and social changes and the emancipation of minorities.

In the 1960s demonstrated that the Ries-Steinheim craters, located in the south of Germany and tektites types moldavites are the same age. Ries crater strewnfield covers eastern Germany, the Czech Republic and northern Austria. A few old scientific studies have not given a clear answer about model creation and the actual size of moldavite strewnfield. For this reason 11 years ago created a model that was to clarify these issues.

Opis:
The article concerns the recently found private archive of Teresa Feodorowna Ries (1866-1956) who was a famous Viennese sculptor before the World War II. After the annexation to the German Reich in 1938, Ries, who was Jewish, remained in Vienna until probably 1942. Despite the imminent danger and difficult living conditions in Vienna, she tried to organise and regulate the preservation and whereabouts of her works. Her studio in the Gartenpalais Liechtenstein was evacuated and the works expropriated. The whereabouts of many of these works are still unclear, and many are considered lost. In 2018 this private archive was offered for sale in an auction house in Monaco. Since there was no interested party, the author of this article was lucky enough to acquire it about half a year later. The private archive contains letters, documents, photographs, a diary, poems, newspaper articles, lists of artworks, the last will and testament of her mother Bertha Ries and her own, handwritten by Ries. The term ‘archive’ includes different aspects which reflect in the work of Ries in both artistic and historical perspectives. The archive, the accumulation and the collection starting from the beginning, should be transferred into the here and now. The archive, as a place for the memory, for memories and records, returns to its starting point – Vienna. With all the collected documents and gathered information it is now possible to achieve an insight into the life of the artist Teresa Feodorowna Ries, and to continue the search for missing parts and links. The fact that today the original or complete form and condition of certain sculptures can only be seen in photographs is obviously a limiting factor when writing about the artist and her work, but also raises further interesting questions: how to write about something that does not exist any longer?

Opis:
The paper contains a new classification of risk situations, which enables the unified treatment of all kinds of problems concerning risk and uncertainty. One of the implications which one can draw from this classification is that there is no sense to formu-late general risk theories. In majority of situation the so called risk management is based on common sense supported by past experiences and some analytical tools. However, there are situations of a particular practical significance which for nearly one hundreds of years have been intensively investigated. As a result of these endeavors a number of models have been developed, particularly models known as expected utility models, and non-expected utility models. One of the main goals of this paper is to highlight the mean-ing of the basic notations used in these models: utility and subjective expected utility.

Opis:
The first Polish moldavites were discovered in 2012. This paper is a summary of the distribution and inventory of these Polish tektites. Up to the present, 28 moldavites have been described from seven different sandpits. These moldavites were deposited in the upper Miocene fluvial deposits of the Gozdnica Formation, as well as in the Pleistocene river terraces. Apart from a typical bottle green colour, moldavites also have other diagnostics features for this class of tektites, such as the presence of bubbles, inclusions oflechatelierite, as well as the same, homogeneous chemical composition. Fluvial redeposition was interpreted as the main process which determined moldavite distribution. Despite the most recent find of one moldavite specimen in Bielawy, all of these specimens indicate both Lusatian as well as sub-strewn Czech fields as their supply area.

Opis:
To date, 36 moldavites have been found in 9 sites from south-western Poland. The newest ones, i.e. 2 tektites, presented herein come from the Turów Mine in the Zittau Basin. Both moldavite specimens were collected from the fluvial sandy gravels of the Gozdnica Formation, of late Miocene age. Taking into account the macroscopic features of the studied glass, it should be assumed that one of them had been reworked over a maximum distance of several kilometres, while the other one had overcome a further reworking, not exceeding50 km though. The moldavites considered herein were most probably ejected from the Ries crater into the Zittau Basin within the Badenian sediments, later transported by the Lusatian Neisse river and finally redeposited within Pannonian sediments.

In Lower Silesia, the first Polish moldavites were discovered. To recognize the primary chemical composition and check the morphology of investigated material SE and BSE images were used. The samples show presence of vesicles, which are one of the most typical features of tektite glass. Referring to the preliminary EDS results and comparing them with literature data, it can be assumed that in all cases the base material for all known moldavites was the same.

Opis:
Four newly discovered moldavites from the East and West Gozdnica pits, SW Poland, are characterized. All specimens, including other four, reported earlier, are from Upper Miocene fluvial sediments of the Gozdnica Formation. Their weight varies between 0.529 and 1.196 g. The moldavites are bottle green in colour and have bubbles and inclusions of lechatelierite. Low degree of corrosion suggests short river transport, apparently eastward from Lusatia.
