Opis:
The article is dedicated to the issue of reception of literary classics by primary school pupils. The fundamental contemporary reception problem consists in the increasing linguistic and cultural strangeness which hampers, and sometimes even prevents independent reading by pupils. The theoretical reflection concerning the ways of preventing the rejection of the classics, as well as overcoming their strangeness is combined with the analysis of particular cases (Cinderella and its contemporary renarrations, The Barrel Organ by B. Prus, and Revenge by A. Fredro). The conclusions emphasize the importance of hermeneutic activities on the part of the teacher, which should precede and boost the act of reading. These are metaphorically referred to as the “gesture of familiarizing the classics”. The “archive” and “repertoire” metaphors introduced in the title are intended to indicate the direction of changes in the manner of presenting the works from the past. Classics should be perceived not as texts from an archive, but as works from the repertoire which are being prepared for staging, i.e. for (re)reading.

There is a vast scientific literature on psychiatric pathologies but research on the sexual problems that secondarily accompany them is still lacking. Among the few issues which in this area still manage to overcome an evident generalized resistance of patients to treating the subject and which can be the purpose of further study, beyond the sexual dysfunctions caused by drugs and the greater risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) we have focused in our bibliographical research on problematic sexual behaviors (PSBs). In particular, we have examined PSBs that complicate axis 2 disorders, usually the field of dynamic psychotherapy, while with reference to axis 1 only those present in bipolar disorder, because of the fact that this last, in its “ultra-rapid” cycles, is located by some authors in the symptom spectrum of borderline personality disorders. Lastly, our in-depth analysis, with the exclusion of paraphilic disorders already nosologically well classified in the DSM-5 with code F65, focused on the still poorly defined legal implications of PSBs secondary to personality disorders (PDs), with the purpose of contributing to a greater consideration of the argument in favor of adequate legal protection of patients and health professionals involved in this particular aspect of psycho-behavioral pathologies.

The statement ‘the way up is the way down’ may imply that the spiritual way to perfection lies through humility. It may however also apply to the physical world that is the source of such spiritual metaphors, and within which the actions play out of fictional characters who themselves serve as metaphors for real ones. I will argue that both meanings apply to both of these films, with a comparison between the two films enabling one to employ Malaparte’s explicit prohibition of a Christ-like position to make apparent a similar prohibition that is only implicit in Kieślowski’s film. Such physical movements provide an appropriate topography for the concern with judgment, knowledge, revenge, isolation and humiliation embodied in the male protagonists of the two films. In each case, the protagonists’ eventual divestment from programmes of judgment and revenge may be related to the prohibition Malaparte formulates explicitly: that upon human re-enactment of the Christ-like position that is the one of judgment. Here a destructive and self-destructive movement downwards, in the sense of dehumanization and extreme isolation, is countered eventually by a downward one that, in fact, leads upwards through an embrace of the humiliation of inaction. The paper examines various ways in which the object of both texts is to rediscover a ‘we’ that is rather one of solidarity than complicity.

Artykuł poddaje pod analizę strukturę, treść, właściwości i skutki rosyjsko-ukraińskiej „wojny hybrydowej”.
The Ukrainian-Russian conflict is being characterized as a logical end of the revenge geostrategy, which has been working out for a long period of time by representatives of power in Kremlin. It is emphasized that Russian aggression against Ukraine has demonstrated neglect towards the international right and has put in danger the world’s safety. The structure, the content, peculiarities and consequences of Russian-Ukrainian “hybrid war” are being ascertaining.

The aim of this article is to analyze the narrative poem Don Juan by Nikolai Otsup – a poet of the first wave of Russian emigration. Otsup’s work is being compared with the poem The Commander’s Footsteps by Aleksandr Blok and the narrative poem Komandorov’s Footsteps by David Samoilov. The author pays attention to the similarities in poetic images, sound and colouristic symbols. Thanks to the contextualization of Otsup’s narrative poem, the author discovers a common tendency in creating the poetic image of the Commander and in the motif of revenge in the Russian poetry of the first half of the 20th century.
Предметом интереса в данной статье является поэма Дон Жуан Николая Оцупа – поэта первой волны русской эмиграции. Поэма подвергается сравнительному анализу со стихотворением Александра Блока Шаги Командора и с поэмой Давида Самойлова Шаги Командорова. Автором делается ряд замечаний по поводу общих для поэтов образов, символов, звуковых и цветовых характеристик. Анализ выбранных стихотворений приводит автора к раскрытию общей тенденции изображения Командора и разработки мотива расплаты в русской поэзии первой половины XX столетия.

The story of the Moor who takes a cruel revenge on his master seems to notably express a human’s preference for bloody “fait divers”. It has been constantly quoted and adapted since the 10th century, serving as an “exemplum” which allows the authors of different nationalities to reflect on the contemporary events. The narrative structure is subjected to several modifications; however, it always contains a significant number of brutal aspects related to the act of vengeance. In fact, the force of precise and violent description correlates with the exhortation, characteristic of most of the works in question. We can observe simultaneously a certain evolution of story’s interpretation that the authors impose on the readers: being at first a part of a chronicle and collection of “exempla”, it gains a moral character in the late Middle Ages, to become finally a source of the political reflection which is particularly evident in 17th century France. All those factors, as well as the authors’ choice of literary genres, help to represent the social, moral, religious and ideological reality of the period of which the slavery is an integral part.
Historia o Maurze dokonującym okrutnej zemsty na swoim panu stanowi szczególny wyraz ludzkiego upodobania do krwawego „fait divers”. Począwszy od X wieku, jest ona wielokrotnie przytaczana i adaptowana, służąc autorom różnych narodowości jako „exemplum” pozwalające snuć rozważania na temat współczesnych im wydarzeń. Struktura narracyjna ulega oczywiście w ciągu wieków modyfikacjom, nie rezygnując jednakże nigdy z brutalnych aspektów sceny zemsty. Stopień precyzji i drastyczności opisu koreluje wręcz z parenetycznym charakterem dzieł. Równocześnie zaobserwować można swoistą ewolucję interpretacji, jaką twórcy nadają sukcesywnie wykorzystywanej przez siebie opowieści: wchodząc początkowo w skład kroniki i zbiorów exemplów, uzyskuje ona pod koniec Średniowiecza wydźwięk moralny, aby stać się w końcu źródłem refleksji czysto politycznej, co widoczne jest zwłaszcza w siedemnastowiecznej Francji. Wszystkie te czynniki, włącznie z doborem odpowiednich gatunków literackich, pozwalają autorom odzwierciedlić realia ówczesnych epok, których nieodłączną część stanowi niewolnictwo.

The Government of Hungary’s view of the transformed economic and political situation in the new country can be vividly presented through the main features of Hungary’s cultural and educational policy in the 1920s. The government tried to find a way out of the national shock caused by the Treaty of Trianon by focusing on and promoting the quality and quantity of education, culture, and training, although revenge was still at the front of their minds. This bipolar process of swing ‑ ing between past and future was led by Klebelsberg, who, as Minister of Education, headed the Ministry of Religion and Education from June 16, 1922, to August 14, 1931. Through his work and speeches, we can learn much about the spirit of the time, the main currents in politics and humanities, people’s thoughts about the Treaty of Trianon, and the ways it was dealt with – and it should also be emphasized that his work and the spirit of the time can still be felt today. Our most important research method is the processing of historical sources and, of course, the use of relevant specialist literature.

The article is devoted to Juli Zeh’s novel Unterleuten, which explores what happens in a small village outside of Berlin, when an energy company arrives with plans to develop a wind farm. Brutality surfaces in many forms, from harassment and deliberate cruelty to perverse acts of revenge. Two old men, a successful agribusiness man and a displaced comrade from the former GDR farming collective, reengage in past conflicts, and their twenty-year-long feud grows into a prime source of vicious ill feeling. The structure of the novel is like a literary kaleidoscope: Unterleuten is a place between past and present, east and west, city and province, civilisation and tradition, reality and fiction, true and false, winners and losers.

Cassandra is a peculiar female character in ancient mythology and literature. She appears as early as Homer’s epic, and then incidentally in Aeneid. A would-be lover of Apollo, seer, doomed to disbelief, concubine of Agamemnon, and killed with him on their arrival to Mycenae, she is tragic and it is the tragedy, where she is presented most fully, i.e. in plays by Aeschylus, Euripidesand Seneca. However, her personality traits are so poorly determined that it leaves room for the authors’ actions organising her profile anew. Andso, in Aeschyluss he is a prophetess of her impending death, but she does not try to defend herself. In Seneca, she relates what is covered from spectators’ eyes. She happens to be the symbol of reconciliation, but in Euripides’ Helen she personifies the element of revenge. She is Apollo’s medium, and at the same time she apparently discredits his prophetic power since she was able to cheat him on some occasions. Her attitude towards Agamemnon is vague, because she bemoans his death the same way Helen, whom she hates, mourns Hector’s death. Only the Greek Troades provides an opinion on the beauty of the prophetess. Afterall, Helenand Cassandra’s fatesare mysteriously intertwined. We have the right to suppose that Clytaemestra’s calling Cassandraa female swan is not accidental, although it formally seems to refer to her stage “muteness”.

Artykuł jest próbą dotarcia do pozytywnego przekazu Nietzscheańskiego Zaratustry oraz próbą jego rekonstrukcji. Przekaz ten koncentruje się na trzech zasadniczych filarach: 1) pokonywaniu odruchu zemsty, 2) cnocie darzącej oraz 3) doczesnym wymiarze Królestwa Bożego. Ten w sensie metody negatywno-majeutczny przekaz w zdumiewający sposób wydaje się zbliżać do przekazu Jezusa z podstawowymi filarami jego sposobu życia: 1) przebaczania qua pokonywanie odruchu zemsty, 2) miłości qua cnoty darzącej, czy 3) doczesnego wymiaru Królestwa Bożego, do którego kluczem staje się przebaczenie. Początek tego Królestwa jest, wbrew faryzejskiej koncepcji Królestwa Bożego, nie na końcu dziejów, ale tu i teraz. Nietzscheański Zaratustra, wbrew masywnej krytyce zarówno pod adresem Apostoła Pawła, jak i Ewangelistów, wydaje się być bardziej uczniem niż adwersarzem Jezusa, a uzasadnieniem owej krytyki jest, zdaniem Nietzschego, sprzeniewierzanie się Jego intencjom. Z tej potrzeby zrodziła się „Piąta Ewangelia”, jak nazywał swego Tako rzecze Zaratustra Fryderyk Nietzsche.
This is an attempt of reconstruction of the positive preaching of the Zarathustra’s negative theology. His message based on three pillars 1) overcoming an impulse of revenge, 2) virtue of gift-givining, 3) earthly dimension of the Kingdom of Heaven. This maieutic message resembles astonishingly the message of Jesus with the basic pillars of his way of life: 1) forgiveness qua an overcoming an impulse of revenge, 2) love qua a virtue of gift-givining, 3) earthly dimension of Kingdom of Heaven with a forgiveness as the key to it. The begin of the Kingdom of Heaven is, against to the Phariseec concept of The Kingdom, not in the end of time but here and now possible. The Nietzschean Zarathustra against to the massive critics addressed either to Apostle Paul or to the Evangelists seems to be more an adapt then an adversary of Jesus and the foundation of his critics lays according to Nietzsche in their rejection of Jesus’s intention. From this need arises “The Fifth Gospel” as Thus Spoke Zarathustra was called by Friedrich Nietzsche.

The article, referring to Emil Cioran’s thought, focuses on the philosophical analysis of the phenomenon of evil and the role it plays in human life. According to Cioran, a man does not incline to good, but as a slave of own individuality, wants to affirm his existence, thus human relationships are a chain of envy, hatred, resentment and revenge. Despite the fact that life in society founded on these feelings is unbearable, a man deliberately chooses the way of being based on them, as they are the only ones which add strength, drive his actions and the whole history. This, in turn, leads Cioran to the conclusion that only evil has substance and really exists, and its ubiquity and the role of the principle of movement indicate that the world could not be created by a good god, but an evil demiurge. Imperfection of a demiurge led him to create the world, which took over all his qualities. This is the bungled world, where everything gets destroyed, and in which everybody must cope with his destructibleness and passing on his own.

Chrześcijanie, odpowiedzialni za współkształtowanie pokoju i sprawiedliwości w świecie, zobowiązani są do bycia świadkami Ewangelii także w tym względzie. Artykuł odpowiada na pytanie o istotę i nowość nauczania Jezusa na temat pokoju w ujęciu Ewangelii synoptycznych. W pierwszym punkcie charakteryzuje wizje pokoju współczesne Jezusowi, ukazując korzenie i tło nowości i wyjątkowości orędzia ewangelicznego na ten temat. Punkt drugi analizy z jednej strony definiuje „pokój Jezusa”, ujmując go w kategorii królestwa Bożego w jego dynamicznym procesie realizacji, z drugiej zaś – na podstawie analizy logionu „o mieczu” w wersji Mateusza (Mt 10,34-36) i „o podziale” w wariancie Łukasza (Łk 12,51) – uwidacznia niebezpieczeństwo pomylenia Jezusowego pokoju z jego surogatami. Trzeci, centralny punkt artykułu koncentruje uwagę na autoprezentacji Chrystusa zawartej w Mateuszowym Kazaniu na górze, ukazując istotę „eirene Jezusa” wyrażoną najpełniej poprzez: siódme błogosławieństwo odnoszące się do „czyniących pokój” (Mt 5,9) oraz dwie antytezy, piątą znoszącą prawo odwetu (Mt 5,38-42) i szóstą radykalizującą Prawo, nakazując miłość nieprzyjaciół (Mt 5,44-45).
Christians, sharing responsibility for establishing peace and justice in the world, are called to be witnesses of the Gospel toward this end. This article considers the essence and originality of Jesus’ teachings on peace as evident in the synoptic gospels. First, it describes the concepts of peace current in Jesus' day, and it demonstrates the very root and background of the newness and uniqueness of the evangelical message. Secondly, the analysis seeks to define “the peace of Jesus”, by couching it within the category of “God’s Kingdom”. Also, it analyzes the “logio of the sword” (taken from Matthew 10:34-36) and “division” (taken from Luke 12:51), thus demonstrating the danger of confusing the real message of the peace of Jesus with its surrogates. Thirdly, the article concentrates on Christ’s auto presentation, located in the Sermon on the Mount, discussing the essence of “Jesus’ eirene”, as most clearly expressed in (1) the Seventh Beatitude, referring to the “peace makers” (Mt 5, 9), and (2) in two antitheses: namely the fifth, which revokes the law of revenge (Mt 5, 38-42), and the sixth, that radicalizes the Law, obliging the love of enemies (Mt 5, 44-45).

In her study, K. Laskowska has presented the essence of the so called “bloody revenge” custom, peculiar to many USSR nations. She has shown a legal response to this ‘relic of local customs’ provided for in the Soviet criminal codes. She has endeavoured to demonstrate that neither the Soviet nor the modern state has managed to eliminate it from the lives of some societies, since their deep-rooted devotion to family tradition, sense of honour and justice has proven stronger than the statutory law. She stresses that it remains alive in many nations of the North Caucasus.
