Opis:
The paper deals with one of the preventive concepts – resilience. The authors start with terminological assumptions, and then they characterize basic concept areas – risk factors (characterization of risk areas) and protective factors (the authors refer to the conditions enhancing human immunity). The article presents basic information about the resilience concept which is worth referring to while analyzing the causes and mechanisms of behaviour disorders or the symptoms of social maladjustment in children and adolescents.
W artykule prezentuję jedną z koncepcji profilaktycznych – resilience. Wychodzę od założeń terminologicznych, charakteryzuję podstawowe obszary koncepcji – czynniki ryzyka (charakterystyka obszarów zagrożeń) oraz czynniki chroniące (odwołuję się do warunków zwiększających odporność człowieka). Artykuł przedstawia podstawowe informacje o koncepcji resilience, do której warto odnieść się analizując przyczyny i mechanizmy zaburzeń zachowania czy przejawy niedostosowania społecznego u dzieci i młodzieży

Opis:
This study proposes to apply an automated lexical analysis to the European Security Strategy of 2003, entitled “A Secure Europe in a Better World”, and the European Union Global Strategy of 2016, entitled “Shared Vision, Common Acton: A Stronger Europe”. The findings are not limited to supporting the predominant interpretations of scholars and experts, but aim at exploring the usefulness of text mining techniques in the interpretation of EU documents. Furthermore, the conclusions drawn from the lexical analysis are discussed in the light of complex systems theory, which may be beneficial for the proper understanding of the concept of resilience (mainly its multidimensional nature) and its subsequent operationalization. The last part of the paper includes an in-depth analysis of the EU rhetoric on the UN fora (period: 2014–2019) regarding the concept of resilience, in particular its linkages with human rights.

Opis:
Early school leaving (ESL) is an issue of serious concern of the European Union as one of the factors contributing to youth unemployment, poverty and low educational achievement (Commission of the European Communities 2001: 39). In Poland, however, the phenomenon is not perceived as a problem or a major challenge for the Polish education system for the future. Poland, having one of the lowest ESL rates among EU countries (about 5%), is mentioned among the countries which are already achieving the EU benchmark 2010 of less than 10% of ESLers (GHK 2005: 7). The theoretical approach (called: multilevel or tripartite approach) applied in the RESL.eu project assumes that the falling out of education is a complex process, which has as its core three levels of overlapping factors: the individual, the institutional and the structural/systemic ones. In this article we look at how the phenomenon of early school leaving is perceived by the staff of upper secondary schools in Warsaw. We present the results of analysis of individual interviews with principals, teachers, psychologists and pedagogical counsellors which took place in four schools situated in Praga and Targówek districts. We argue that the staff from upper secondary schools, explaining the determinants of ESL, stress the significance of the micro level factors, referring to their everyday experiences in working with students experiencing school failure, or focus on the systemic/macro level factors and emphasise the shortcomings of the Polish education system, seeking possible sources in its deficiencies. Whereas the factors of the institutional, that is school level, are dismissed as relevant aspects that may help to explain this phenomenon.

Opis:
Internetworked e-Work is enabling new channels in cyber space for collaboration among physical and cyber agents, e.g., humans, robots, software agents. Research on Collaborative Control Theory (CCT) indicates that building and augmenting the Collaborative Intelligence (CI) of participants in cyber-physical networks can provide better support for achieving their individual and common goals. In spite of its rising significance and popularity, however, no clear and precise definition and universal quantitative measure has been proposed for the CI. In this article, we first formalize the CI by suggesting a formal definition, based on the definitions of its elements - collaboration and intelligence. We then propose a quantitative measure for the CI, adapted from the universal intelligence measure. For illustration, we analyze three recent collaborative e-Work studies at three different scales: (1) Telerobotenabled computer supported collaborative design; (2) Collaborative product line control in supply networks; (3) Demand and capacity sharing in multi-enterprise collaboration. From these case studies, common advantages such as work efficiency, network robustness and stability, service level, resource utilization, and collaboration cost are observed, analyzed, and translated into formal CI measures. Results indicate significant impacts of CI on the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of collaborative activities in emerging e-Work networks.
