The paper deals with a bibliometric analysis of a sample of the top law schools included in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022. An equal number of Western European and Central and Eastern European law schools have been analysed. The results show that both groups follow similar publication patterns. There is a clear tendency to publish in journals controlled by the authors’ universities. Citation rates in the sample are very low, and in line with what has already been found for humanities. There is a clear division between the multidisciplinary and transnational legal journals that are more international and less internationally recognised law reviews focusing on domestic issues. Law clearly follows its own publication pattern, and the East–West division is in this respect negligible: both groups perform equally well (or equally poorly) as far as the metrics indicate.

The article aims to diagnose how Polish political science is internationally recognized, and how this recognition has changed during the last period of research evaluation (2017–2021). For this purpose, several quantitative indicators from the 2013–2016 and 2017–2021 evaluations were analyzed: the number of publications, place of publication, the impact of both the journal and the article. The hypotheses assume that in 2017–2021, the numerical output of Polish political science works indexed in international databases increased significantly. Still, when it comes to the impact of the Polish academy on global political science, it remains weak. The data provided in the SciVal program was used for the analysis. Articles were selected from the Scopus database, specifically from the “Politics & International Studies” collection. The results of the conducted research confirm the assumptions formulated in the hypotheses.
Celem artykułu jest diagnoza tego, jak zmieniła się międzynarodowa rozpoznawalność polskiej politologii w trakcie ostatniego okresu ewaluacji nauki (2017–2021). W tym celu przeprowadzono analizę kilku wskaźników ilościowych z ewaluacji 2013–2016 oraz 2017–2021, dotyczących liczby publikacji, miejsca publikacji, prestiżu czasopisma i wpływu artykułu. W hipotezach założono, że w latach 2017–2021 dorobek liczbowy polskiej politologii obejmujący prace indeksowane w międzynarodowych bazach danych zwiększył się znacząco, jeżeli jednak idzie o wpływ polskiej akademii na nauki o polityce w skali globalnej, pozostaje on nieznaczny, sytuując nauki o polityce na peryferiach globalnego dyskursu. Do analizy wykorzystano dane udostępniane w programie SciVal. Wybrano artykuły, które były indeksowane w bazie Scopus w kolekcji „Politics & International Studies”, opublikowane z afiliacją co najmniej jednej z 34 uczelni, które w okresie 2017–2021 ewaluowały się w dyscyplinie nauki o polityce i administracji. Wyniki przeprowadzonej analizy potwierdzają założenia sformułowane w hipotezach.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza związku oceny własnego ciała dokonanej przez osobę grającą w grę RPG z wyglądem tworzonej przez nią postaci w kreatorze tej gry. Przeprowadzono badanie eksploracyjne z zastosowaniem dwóch kwestionariuszy: Skali Oceny Ciała autorstwa Franzoi i Shields (1984) w polskiej adaptacji Lipowskiej i Lipowskiego (2013) oraz autorskiego narzędzia do Oceny Ciała Postaci. Przebadane zostały 122 osoby w wieku od 18 do 39 lat, w tym 52 kobiety i 70 mężczyzn. Wyniki badań wykazały istotne statystycznie korelacje w grupie mężczyzn w zakresie podobieństwa oceny własnego ciała do tworzonej postaci w grze RPG. Oznacza to, że im wyżej mężczyźni oceniali swoje ciało w zakresie atrakcyjności fizycznej, masy ciała i kondycji fizycznej, tym bardziej postacie tworzone przez nich w grze RPG cechowały się podobieństwem do nich. Artykuł stanowi zachętę do eksploracji zagadnienia kreatorów postaci gier RPG.
The aim of this article is to analyze the relationship between the assessment of RPG player’s own body and the appearance of the character created by the player in the wizard of this game. An exploratory study was carried out using two questionnaires: the Body-Esteem Scale by Franzoi and Shields (1984) in the Polish adaptation of Lipowska and Lipowski (2013) and the authentic Characters Body Assessment. 122 participants aged 18 to 39 were examined: 52 women and 70 men. The results of the study indicated statistically significant correlations in the male group in terms of similarity of the assessment of their bodies to the created character of the RPG game. The higher the men rated their bodies regarding physical attractiveness, body weight and physical condition, the more the characters they created in the game were similar to them. The article is an encouragement to explore the issue of game creators.

The article presents an analysis of the results of a survey conducted in 2022 among students and young graduates of three vocational education courses, studying in EU countries (N = 428). The area of research concerns the awareness of competencies sought-after by employers and the self-assessed level of these competencies. The authors used tests of the equality of two means in order to check for differences in assessments according to the respondents' metric characteristics, and also factor analysis to check for similarities in attitudes towards different types of competencies in the respondents' assessments. Finding such similarities would allow to use a summative scale and reduce the dimensions.
W artykule zaprezentowano analizę wyników badań ankietowych przeprowadzonych w 2022 r. na grupie uczniów i młodych absolwentów trzech kierunków kształcenia zawodowego pobierających naukę w kilku krajach unijnych (N = 428). Prezentowany obszar badań dotyczy znajomości kompetencji pożądanych przez pracodawców oraz samooceny poziomu tych kompetencji. Wykorzystano test równości średnich w celu sprawdzenia różnic w ocenach ze względu na cechy metryczkowe respondentów. Analizę czynnikową zastosowano dla sprawdzenia, czy w ocenach respondentów można zauważyć podobieństwo podejścia do różnych rodzajów kompetencji. Ewentualne stwierdzenie takiej prawidłowości pozwoliłoby na stosowanie skali sumacyjnej i redukcję wymiarów.

The study analyzes student, school and district level inequalities of Albanian education system as evidenced in two large-scale assessments. Two main datasets were used for this study, PISA 2018 and the Albanian State Matura Exam 2017. Due to the limited availability of data, the study could only consider a small number of dependent variables at the individual, school, and district level. Utilizing a multilevel analysis, the study observes considerable differences among schools and districts in all three PISA domains and the State Matura Exam. The results were inconclusive regarding shortages of resources at the school and district level. Staff shortage was associated with academic performance in the PISA 2018 dataset, but no statistical association could be identified with the lack of school resources. The analysis of the district financial resources did not show any significant relationship between spending and school performance in the Albanian State Matura Exam. Gender disparities were present in both datasets. Socioeconomic factors, which were measured only in the PISA dataset, had an effect on the student’ achievement.

This study concerns visual assessment of the degree of damage done to Pinus sylvestris L. wood blocks by Reticulitermes lucifugus Rossi, in an experiment conducted according to ASTM D 3345-08:2017. The six evaluators made their assessments individually. The differing results obtained from the evaluators are a cause for concern. Visual assessment of the degree of wood damage can vary significantly from person to person. Measurement of weight loss seems to be a better way of evaluating the degree of damage done to wood samples by termites in laboratory tests.

W artykule przedstawiono przegląd zadań zawartych w Krajowej Podstawie Programowej Kształcenia Podstawowego dla Dorosłych w 2017 r. wprowadzonej w okresie rządów Juha Sippili. Przewidziano skutki społeczne proponowanej zmiany edukacyjnej. Dokument analizuje podstawowe wartości demokratyczne charakterystyczne dla edukacji dorosłych, podkreśla ich wyjątkowość, prawo do samorozwoju i dobrego nauczania. Promuje kulturową różnorodność uczniów, ich filozofię życiową, doświadczenie i światopogląd, przygotowuje do uwzględniania różnych punktów widzenia, udzielania odpowiedzi na pytania oraz podawanie własnych pomysłów. Z perspektywy programu nauczania dojrzali uczniowie są wyposażeni w kompetencje kluczowe i dobrze przygotowani do aktywności obywatelskiej w swojej społeczności.
Abstract: The article presents an overview of the tasks in National Core Curriculum for Basic Education for Adults 2017, introduced during period of Juha Sippila government, taking curriculum research into account and investigates basic values, assessment with support for learning. The article describes the conditions, the scope of active, curricular educational change and its anticipated social effects. Viewed from the perspective of curriculum, students are well prepared to function as active citizens and members of their communities. There is put an emphasis on the uniqueness of students and the right to good teaching in which adults as students have the right to self-development in schools which promote the understanding of the students’ identity, their philosophy of life and worldviews as a part of students’ continuous development. Adult students are prepared to perceive different viewpoints, answer for unexpected questions and support their own ideas and points of view.

The paper discusses to what extent current research meets the expectations of policies aimed at reducing inequalities in education. Initially, inequalities in education were perceived as a result of the incomplete accessibility of schools for disadvantaged social categories. It was believed that inequalities would decrease with the further reforms of education systems. However, along with the expansion of education, research showed that inequality did not decrease, but began to move to ever higher levels of the school system. It raised expectations that research results should help decision makers search for effective solutions to reduce educational inequalities. The author addresses the question of whether research has met this challenge and proposes to extend the scope of collected data to increase its usability in educational policy.

The text presents the course and conclusions of the discussion on evaluation of research in social sciences and humanities. The results of social sciences and humanities research can, on the one hand, be of significant local importance, and, on the other, require an appropriate international context. These conflicting trends are difficult to balance. A further difficulty is the attempt to reduce the evaluation of research results in social sciences and humanities to the effects of publication in ranking journals. This trend gives rise to many pathological phenomena (related, for example, to the increase in the cost of publication in journals and other ranked publications). The dominance of the ranking system of journals within the framework of financing scientific disciplines has negative impacts on aspects of academic activity beyond the publication of research results. Teaching activities and university relations with the wider world may suffer. In the course of the discussion an attempt is made to respond to these threats.
W tekście przedstawiono przebieg oraz wnioski z dyskusji dotyczącej sposobów ewaluacji badań naukowych w naukach społecznych i humanistycznych. Wyniki badań w naukach społecznych i humanistycznych z jednej strony mogą mieć istotne znaczenie lokalne, a z drugiej wymagają odpowiedniego kontekstu międzynarodowego. Te kolidujące tendencje trudne są do pogodzenia. Kolejna trudność polega na próbie sprowadzenia oceny wyników badań naukowych w naukach społecznych i humanistycznych do efektów publikacji w czasopismach punktowanych. Trend ten powoduje powstanie wielu zjawisk patologicznych (związanych przykładowo ze wzrostem kosztów publikacji w czasopismach punktowanych). Dominacja systemu oceny punktowej czasopism w ramach finansowania nauki wpływa z kolei negatywnie na inne aspekty działalności akademickiej niż publikacja wyników badań. Ucierpieć może działalność dydaktyczna oraz kontakty uczelni ze światem zewnętrznym. W toku dyskusji próbowano odpowiedzieć na powyższe zagrożenia.

This article analyzes the service quality of airport complexes, which occupy a leading position in the behavioral economy and are accompanied by increasing safety needs. The peculiarities of the domestic and European airline market are the following prerequisites for the study: the increasing capacity of flights, the growth of air transportation because of the introduction of powerful low-cost airlines to the market, and the development of technical equipment and services at airport complexes. The theoretical basis of the study is the doctrine of the development of perfect monopolistic competition, where the main factor of competition is the qualitative provision and service of, in particular, air carriers. The purpose of the study is to determine the position of selected airport complexes according to the criterion of quality of B2B airport service. The research method was a representative survey of air carriers and a comparative analysis – allow us to rank the providers of airport services. In this work, in order to prove the purpose, the methodology of B2B clients’ evaluation of the quality of airport complex services, ground, and airport servicing of airplanes was used with the help of the main groups of criteria. These criteria are the following: aerodrome and airport safety; aviation ground handling, settlement, and settlement of cargo and mail; organization of support of aircraft fitness, provision of fuel and lubricants, promotion of carrier flights, etc. The results of the study revealed the weak sides of quality assurance at Zaporizhzhia International Airport: in maintaining the airworthiness of aircraft, in the organization of settlements and processing of cargo and mail, and in the ground handling of aircraft. The results of the study show that the quality of services at Zaporizhzhia International Airport in the market of air transportation services is rated at an average level for Ukraine, with a tendency for improvement.
Artykuł jest poświęcony ocenie jakości usług portów lotniczych, która zajmuje przodującą pozycję w ekonomii behawioralnej ze względu na rosnące potrzeby w zakresie bezpieczeństwa. Podstawę badań stanowiły charakterystyczne aspekty krajowego i europejskiego rynku linii lotniczych: rosnąca liczba przewozów lotniczych, stymulacja przewozów lotniczych podyktowana wejściem na rynek potężnych tanich linii lotniczych, rozwój wyposażenia technicznego i usług świadczonych w portach lotniczych. Podstawę teoretyczną badań stanowi doktryna rozwoju doskonałej konkurencji monopolistycznej, w której głównym czynnikiem konkurencji jest jakościowe świadczenie usług, w szczególności przewoźników lotniczych. Celem pracy jest określenie lokalizacji wybranych kompleksów lotniskowych według kryterium jakości obsługi lotniskowej B2B. Metodą badawczą było reprezentatywne badanie przewoźników lotniczych i metoda analizy porównawczej, która pozwala na pozycjonowanie świadczących usługi lotniskowe. Pragnąc osiągnąć postawiony cel, w niniejszym opracowaniu wykorzystano metodykę oceny przez klientów B2B jakości usług świadczonych w portach lotniczych, jak też obsługi naziemnej i lotniskowej samolotów z uwzględnieniem wyróżnionych grup kryteriów. Tymi grupami są: wyposażenie lotniska, naziemna obsługa samolotów, organizacja rozliczeń i obsługi ładunków oraz poczty, organizacja wsparcia sprawności technicznej samolotów, zaopatrzenie w paliwo i środki smarne, promocja lotów przewoźników itp. Wyniki badań ujawniły słabe strony w zapewnieniu wysokiej jakości usług świadczonych przez „Międzynarodowe lotnisko Zaporoże”, które są związane z utrzymaniem zdatności samolotów do lotów, obsługą naziemną samolotów, a także organizacją rozliczeń i obsługą przewożonych ładunków. Biorąc pod uwagę poziom jakości usług, „Międzynarodowe lotnisko Zaporoże” sytuuje się na rynku przewozów lotniczych jako przedsiębiorstwo o średnim dla Ukrainy poziomie obsługi naziemnej i lotniskowej linii lotniczych z tendencją do poprawy.

Opis:
Technology research, design, and development is confronted with rapidly advancing digitalization in two respects: (1) digitally supported or enabled technologies need to be designed and developed, and (2) the respective R&D processes themselves will happen in a much more digitalized environment. Technology design generally must take into account the values involved and possible consequences of the development and use of the resulting products, services, and systems. In a digitalizing environment, the issue of values gains even more significance because more and more close and intimate interfaces between humans and technology have to be shaped. Designing human-machine interfaces is not only a functional issue but touches upon ethical questions such as the distribution of responsibility, but also upon anthropological issues related to the human self-image and ideas about future society as well. In the respective research, design, and development processes, value-laden issues such as control, privacy, empathy, responsibility, and accountability must be taken into account beyond technical issues of efficiency and reliability. The need for designing and shaping digital future technologies involving ethics and technology assessment will be demonstrated by three examples: future industrial production and the fields of self-driving cars and care robots. Value sensitive design and responsible research and innovation will be introduced as approaches to deal with these challenges.

Opis:
W artykule opisano warunki wykonania oraz sposób przeprowadzenia procesu oceny skuteczności środków iniekcyjnych stosowanych do wykonywania wtórnych hydroizolacji poziomych w murze według dwóch metodologii: Instytutu Techniki Budowanej (na potrzeby uzyskania Krajowej Oceny Technicznej) oraz niemieckiej instytucji WTA, czyli Naukowo-Technicznego Stowarzyszenia na rzecz Konserwacji Budynków oraz Ochrony Zabytków (niem. Wissenschaftlich-Technische Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Bauwerkserhaltung und Denkmalpflege). Sposób wykonania murów doświadczalnych, sposób ich zawilgocenia, przeprowadzenia procesu iniekcji oraz badania, jakie należy wykonać celem kontroli skuteczności zabiegów iniekcyjnych, przedstawiono na przykładzie badań przeprowadzonych dla środków iniekcyjnych w postaci płynnej oraz o konsystencji kremu.

Opis:
The article focuses on the methodological peculiarities of research practice (scientific research and assessment) in clinical psychology. The author indicates typical departures of this practice from the methodological standards of modern psychology – particularly from those that constitute the patterns of evidence-based assessment and evidence-based practice in psychology: ignoring the primary role of psychological theories, too frequent departures from psychometric standards in the procedures of constructing and using psychological tests (which are sometimes pseudotests, such as Koch’s Tree Test). The importance of construct validity is stressed in the article.

Opis:
Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) is an emerging paradigm and a novel approach to governing science and innovation with the aim of making them ethically acceptable and socially desirable. RRI concept has become a popular term as a result of making it a cross-cutting theme for the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme. Up to date, research on the topic has focused on conceptual problems (relation with similar concepts as well as ethical, moral, philosophical, cultural underpinnings and assumptions) and on the possibilities of making the concept relevant to the Research & Innovation community in Europe and worldwide. Despite some initial efforts, there is still a need to further develop methods and techniques that could make RRI a useful framework for conducting innovation activities, especially in the business environment. The aim of this paper is to propose a range of approaches that help operationalise RRI. The approaches employ methods such as weighted indicators, maturity models and scorecards.

There is substantial agreement on the relevance of the questions raised by Jerzy M. Brzeziński and on the proposed answers. The common use of English in international scientific communication should not lead to neglecting the proper media of diffusing psychological knowledge in local languages. The current concern for assessing the quality of psychological research and research institutions should be accompanied by an equal concern for proper criteria to assess the quality of psychological practice and of practitioner education. The criteria of evaluating both research and practice should be grounded on solid psychological theories.
