    The aim of this research project was to evaluate the impact of the temperamental traits and structure (as defined by Strelau’s Regulative Theory of Temperament) on the level of life satisfaction and job satisfaction (interpreted according to Zalewska’s Transactional Model of Quality of Life). The participants of the study were employees (N=199) having different jobs and from different workplaces. The results indicate that there exists a positive relationship between both types of satisfaction and activity and endurance as well as a negative relationship between the measures of satisfaction and emotional reactivity. Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that activity and emotional reactivity are temperamental predictors of life satisfaction. The temperamental predictor of job satisfaction in the cognitive aspect is only activity, whereas in the case of job satisfaction in the emotional aspect - activity and endurance. The statistical analysis revealed that the temperament structure harmonising in the dimension of under-stimulation – over-stimulation has no correlation with any types of satisfaction.

    Objective: Personality dispositions may influence perceptions of work stress. The paper examines the relationship between temperament in terms of Strelau's Regulative Theory of Temperament and the effort-reward imbalance and its components. Material and Methods: There were 890 participants (360 men) aged 37.9 years on average. Temperament traits of briskness and perseveration (temporal characteristics of behavior), sensory sensitivity, emotional reactivity, endurance and activity (energetic characteristics of behavior) were measured by Strelau & Zawadzki's Formal Characteristics of Behavior-Temperament Inventory (FCB-TI) in 1997 and 2001. Effort and reward at work were assessed with the original effortreward imbalance (ERI) questionnaire of 2007. Results: Higher ERI at work was predicted by higher emotional reactivity, higher perseveration, lower briskness, and lower endurance. Higher effort and lower rewards at work were predicted by higher perseveration and lower endurance. The FCB-TI temperament characteristics accounted for 5.2%, 4.8% and 6.5% of the variance in the ERI, effort and reward, respectively. Lower emotional reactivity, lower perseveration, higher briskness and higher endurance predicted higher esteem at work, job promotion and job security. Conclusions: Individual differences in arousability, reflected in temporal and energetic characteristics of behavior, may predispose to or to protect from an effort-reward imbalance at work. Individual differences should be acknowledged in work stress prevention and developing interventions.

    Opis:
    Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie teoretycznej analizy różnic indywidualnych w funkcjonalnej strukturze czynności. Jako punkt wyjścia zaprezentowano charakterystykę struktury czynności pod względem formalnym, modalnym i funkcjonalnym, zaproponowaną w Teorii Czynności Tadeusza Tomaszewskiego. Następnie omówiono rozróżnienie na czynności pomocnicze i zasadnicze, z uwzględnieniem w oparciu o źródła pochodzące z klasycznych prac dotyczących neurofizjologii i etologii. Przybliżono także zakładane w Teorii Czynności rodzaje czynności pomocniczych: przygotowawcze, kontrolne, korekcyjne i zabezpieczające. Następnie opisano wyniki badań nad zakładanymi w Regulacyjnej Teorii Temperamentu związkami reaktywności z różnicami między ludźmi w sposobie wykonywania czynności. Przedstawiono także dyskusję dotyczącą pojęcia „styl działania” i formalnego statusu różnic indywidualnych w funkcjonalnej strukturze działania. Na koniec sformułowano wniosek o potrzebie ustalenia czy różnice te charakteryzują się transsytuacyjną stałością i stabilnością czasową. Zwrócono także uwagę na znaczenie dla dalszych badań prac nad opracowaniem narzędzi kwestionariuszowych do badania różnic indywidualnych pod względem udziału czynności pomocniczych w stosunku do czynności zasadniczych w działaniu
    The aim of the article is to present a theoretical analysis of individual differences in the functional structure of actions. As a starting point, the formal, modal, and functional structure of actions proposed in Tadeusz Tomaszewski’s Theory of Action are shown. Then, the distinction between auxiliary and basic actions is outlined, with reference to sources in classical works on neurophysiology and ethology. The types of auxiliary actions – as they are conceptualised within the framework of the Theory of Action, i.e. preparatory, controlling, corrective, and protective – are also described. Next, the results of research on the relationship between reactivity and the differences in how people perform actions, as seen by the Regulatory Theory of Temperament, are outlined. A discussion is also presented regarding the concept of “style of action” and the formal status of individual differences in the functional structure of actions. Finally, a conclusion is drawn on the need to determine whether these differences are characterized by transsituational consistency and temporal stability. The importance for further research in developing questionnaire tools, to study individual differences in the share of auxiliary and basic actions in activity, is emphasised.
