    The article explores the narrative recounted in the Homeric Hymn to Hermes for its aetiological and educational content and message.     Crop raiding activities of primates around Kainji Lake National Park (Borgu Sector), Nigeria was investigated with the use of questionnaires, complemented with field survey focus group discussions and in-depth interviews. One hundred (100) questionnaires were administered to representatives of households in four selected support zone villages. Group discussions were then conducted in the villages. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics in the form of percentages, frequencies and charts. We found that crop raiding and animal depredation were sources of conflict in Kainji Lake National Park (Borgu Sector). The primates raiding farmlands identified by the farmers were Olive Baboon (Papio anubis), Patas monkey (Erthrocebus patas), green monkey (Chlorocebus aethiops) and other primates that could not be identified by the farmers. The largest percentage of raiding (40%) was perpetrated by Papio anubis, followed by Patas monkey (35%) and the least by Green Monkey (2%). The result showed that maize was the most commonly ranked crop of seasonal harvest that was lost. Moreover, an estimated 3-5 50 kg bags of seed were being destroyed in the planting season. The most effective strategy the local communities used in preventing crop damage was watch guarding (70%). Other methods were fencing (60%), hunting (45%), scare crow (36%) and toxic chemical (5%). The mitigation measure advocated by nearly all respondents (57%) was the killing of destructive wildlife species, irrespective of conservation significance. Measures must put in place to educate these communities about wildlife conservation and to prevent wanton killing. The communities should also be compensated for their loss, as this will lead to positive attitudes to wildlife conservation.

    Opis:
    One of the key aspects of the fight against corruption and economic crime is to counter the seizure of business entities (raids) – as a set of criminal acts. There is no single norm in Ukrainian criminal law that provides for penalties for illegal seizure of enterprises, institutions, organizations in order to appropriate them or establishes control over their assets, and therefore existing methods of detecting and investigating raids need to be significantly improved. Also a top priority for researchers and practitioners in the field of law enforcement remain issues of updating scientific developments in order to increase the level of crime prevention. This is especially true of raider groups, whose members have expertise in the economic field, are corrupt, and resort to the most sophisticated forms of countering the investigation. Thus, without awareness of typical investigative situations and the procedure for conducting investigative (search) actions at the initial stage of a raid investigation, it is difficult to identify perpetrators, and identifying the customer may be an impossible task due to the specifics of economic crimes information to be processed. In this regard, determining the specifics of the formation of investigative situations of the initial stage of the investigation of criminal offenses related to raiding is a very important issue. The article examines the problematic issues of defining the essential features of raiding, clearly argues various approaches to the interpretation of this concept, identifies the essence of typical investigative situations, as well as highlights the provisions of raiding, which directly affect the formation of an investigative situation of this crime. Finally, the identification of typical investigative situations in the initial phase of raiding investigations contributes to the quality of pre-trial investigations, reducing the risk of tactical errors, in particular during investigative actions, which will facilitate the proper execution of criminal proceedings.
    Одним із ключових аспектів боротьби з корупцією та економічною злочин- ністю є протидія силовому захопленню суб’єктів господарювання (рейдерству) – як сукупності злочинних діянь. Загальновідомо, що в українському кримінальному законодавстві відсутня єдина норма, що передбачає покарання за незаконне захоплення підприємств, установ, організацій з метою їх привласнення чи встановлення контролю над їхніми активами, у зв’язку з чим існуючі методики розкриття і розслідування рейдерства потребують значного вдосконалення. Також досить пріоритетним напрямком для науковців і практиків у сфері забезпечення правоохоронної діяльності залишаються питання щодо оновлення наукових напрацювань з метою підвищення рівня протидії злочинності. Насамперед це стосується рейдерських угрупувань, учасники яких володіють фаховими знаннями в економічній галузі, корумповані, та вдаються до використання найскладніших форм протидії розслідуванню. Таким чином, без усвідомлення типових слідчих ситуацій і порядку проведення слідчих (розшукових) дій на початковому етапі розслідування рейдерства досить важко встановити осіб-виконавців злочину, а встановлення особи-замовника може стати невиконуваним завданням, що випливає зі специфіки економічних злочинів, які містять величезні обсяги інформації, що підлягає опрацюванню. В цьому плані визначення особливостей формування слідчих ситуацій початкового етапу розслідування кримінальних правопорушень, пов’язаних з рейдерством є досить актуальним питанням. У статті досліджено проблемні питання щодо визначення сутнісних ознак рейдерства, чітко аргументовано різноманітні підходи до тлумачення зазначеного поняття, визначено сутність типових слідчих ситуацій, а також виокремлено положення, притаманні рейдерству, що безпосередньо впливають на формування тієї або іншої слідчої ситуації в процесі розкриття і розслідування цього злочину. Зрештою, виокремлення типових слідчих ситуацій початкового етапу розслідування злочинів, пов’язаних з рейдерством сприяє якісній оптимізації досудового розслідування, знижуючи ризик настання тактичних помилок, зокрема під час проведення слідчих (розшукових) дій, що сприятиме належному виконанню завдань кримінального провадження.
