Opis:
Models have been proposed explaining differences in electrophysical and photoelectrical properties of epitaxial films of Hg$\text{}_{1-x}$Cd$\text{}_{x}$Te (x≈0.2) before and after treating by single pulses of Nd:YAG laser. These models were obtained on the basis of the calculated distributions of temperature, temperature gradient and concentration of interstitial mercury during and after exposing to the laser pulse. These calculations were done using the net method.

Opis:
The positron annihilation and Μössbauer effect measurements in permalloy Νi77/Fe14.4/Cu4.5/Mo0.5/Cr2.2/Si0.2 for different cooling rates have been performed. The results have been discussed in view of the magnetic properties of the alloy. Based on the energy spectra of positron annihilation radiation and $\text{}^{57}$Fe Mössbauer spectra, the positron polarization coefficient and the hyperfine field distributions have been calculated, respectively. We demonstrate that the results of both, positron annihilation and Mössbauer effect measurements, are in very close relation to the initial permeability μ$\text{}_{0.4}$ (at H = 0.4 A/m) and resistivity measurements.

Opis:
Structure, magnetic properties and magnetoresistance in as-quenched and annealed Co$\text{}_{x}$Cu$\text{}_{100-x}$ samples were investigated. Homogeneous metastable Co$\text{}_{x}$Cu$\text{}_{100-x}$ alloys were prepared by the single-roller technique. The maximum value of magnetoresistance is shifted to higher annealing temperatures with increasing measuring temperature. At higher measuring temperatures the magnetoresistance is not saturated in fields as high as 16 T. Susceptibility measurements showed the formation of hcp-structured Co clusters. For small cobalt concentrations there is a transition from giant magnetoresistance to the normal anisotropic magnetoresistance.

In this paper we present experimental results on influence of Al content on the structure and saturation magnetostriction of Fe-Al-Cu-Nb-Si-B alloys after heat treatment. Transmission electron microscopy observations confirmed the existence of nanocrystalline structure after annealing at 490°C and 550°C for all samples. The crystallization temperature of FeSi phase and the temperature at which the polycrystalline transformation starts were determined from temperature dependence of electrical resistivity. Aluminium slightly decreases the first crystallization temperature and considerably decreases the saturation magnetostriction in as-quenched state.

The aim of studies was testing for presence of 1BL/1RS translocation in 17 lines derived from wide crosses of Aegilops ventricosa and Aegilops juvenalis with common and durum wheats, along with parental forms. PCR analyses detected translocated chromosome in Lanca and CZR1406 wheats and in 4 hybrid lines (JCPC, JCCP, JCC and JCCC). The lack of 1RS arm in lines (VGL and VGLL) derived from crosses with Lanca suggests that another chromosomal rearrangements occurred. We confirmed the usefulness of applied STS-PCR assays for fast and robust identification of 1BL/1RS translocation in breeding materials.

The specific interactions between bovine serum albumin and poly- or two monoclonal bovine serum albumin antibodies were studied using force spectroscopy mode of atomic force microscopy. The histograms of the unbinding forces for polyclonal bovine serum albumin antibodies are broad at high antibody concentrations (50 or 270 μg/ml) and narrow at low concentrations (10 or 27 μg/ml), while the histograms for monoclonal antibodies peak at well defined unbinding force. The peak unbinding force depends on the type of antibody and the antibody concentration. In this paper we described and characterized the passive adsorption and covalent immobilization of proteins for tip and sample preparation. Force spectroscopy could serve as a useful method for characterization of antigen-antibody interactions for measuring the specificity of an antibody or to assess the purity of a monoclonal antibody solution and to distinguish between different antibodies.

Two samples of nominal composition Gd$\text{}_{1.80}$Ce$\text{}_{0.15}$CuO$\text{}_{4.0}$ and Gd$\text{}_{1.85}$Ce$\text{}_{0.15}$CuO$\text{}_{4.075}$ were subjected for a long-term treatment in air at 1100°C, comprised with a precise control of their weights vs. time of the treatment applied. The gravimetric analysis and the iodometric titration, both showed a deficiency on Cu-site, steadily increasing vs. time with a slight tendency to a saturation. The X-ray analysis of the resulting products showed that even after 272 h of sintering, the samples remained single phase of the "214" structure type. Refinement of their crystal structures as well as density measurements, both allowed confirming Cu deficient structure constitution of these samples. Results of dc-magnetization measurements, performed prior to reduction of the sample's overall oxygen content, did not show any sign of superconductivity down to 4.2 K. These preliminary results indicate that copper deficiency, developing during synthesis, may occur to be a decisive factor for the reported lack of superconductivity in Ce-doped Gd$\text{}_{2}$CuO$\text{}_{4}$ phase. Oxygen content reduction and further tests on the samples obtained are in progress.

To understand the combined effect of divalent ion and A-site vacancy (Ø) self-doping, beyond the binary La$\text{}_{1-x}$MnO$\text{}_{3}$ system, polycrystalline La$\text{}_{1-x-y}$Ca$\text{}_{x}$Ø$\text{}_{y}$MnO$\text{}_{3+δ}$ samples were studied. Samples with Ca substitution and excess Mn in the range x<0.33 and y<0.45, respectively, were prepared by standard solid-state reactions. Structural and phase analysis of the samples were done by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. The manganite structure in this composition range includes rhombic and orthorhombic phases. Most samples contain the hausmanite phase (Mn$\text{}_{3}$O$\text{}_{4}$) coexisting with the manganite phase. A small amount of perovskite related AMn$\text{}_{7}$O$\text{}_{12}$ (A=La,Ca) structure near the hausmanite-manganite boundary is also found in samples treated in oxygen atmosphere. The calculated vacancy content accommodated in the manganite phase can be higher than 1/8, the reported limit for La$\text{}_{1-x}$MnO$\text{}_{3}$, which is confirmed in our x=0 sample. For the compositions studied, a ferromagnetic metallic behavior below T$\text{}_{C}$ is found, confirming the stability of the Mn sublattice, and near the optimum stoichiometric ((x=0. 33, y=0) system, a net A-site vacancy content (up to y=0.2) does not degrade the magnetic and electric properties.

Phase equilibria in Gd$\text{}_{2}$O$\text{}_{3}$-CeO$\text{}_{2}$-CuO system were studied based on samples obtained from appropriate mixtures of the starting components, prepared by a conventional solid state reaction in air. The phase relations prevalent in this system have been deduced based on X-ray diffraction of well-equilibrated samples. An isothermal cross-section diagram through the system at 980°C is presented and chemical constitution of the Ce-doped Gd$\text{}_{2}$CuO$\text{}_{4}$ phase is proposed.

Opis:
Celem pracy było przebadanie zdolności żelujących kilku produktów serwatkowych: sproszkowanej serwatki i koncentratów białek serwatkowych o zróżnicowanej zawartości białka. Otrzymywano roztwory o różnym stężeniu białka (4, 6, 8 lub 10%), ogrzewano w temp. 25–85°C i chłodzono do 25°C. Badano właściwości reologiczne przy użyciu reometru dynamicznego Haake RS300, notując wartości modułu zachowawczego, modułu stratności i tangensa kąta przesunięcia fazowego. W temp. 85 i 25°C przebadano wpływ częstości drgań sinusoidalnych na wartości modułów. Największy wzrost wartości modułów stwierdzono podczas chłodzenia wszystkich próbek. Zależność modułów od częstości drgań, badana w temp. 25°C, wskazywała na tworzenie się żeli. Spośród przebadanych produktów najlepiej żelujcym preparatem był koncentrat białek serwatkowych o zawartości białka i soli mineralnych odpowiednio: 65,3% i 5,9%, co wydaje się najbardziej optymalnym składem.
The objective of this project was to investigate the gelling ability of several whey products: powdered whey and whey protein concentrates with different protein content. Dispersions of different protein concentration (4, 6, 8 and 10%) were made, heated from a temperature of 25°C to 85°C, and cooled to 25°C. Rheological properties were investigated using a ‘Haake RS300’ dynamic rheometer in an oscillatory mode. Rheological modules, phase angle, and loss tangent were registered. Frequency sweeps were performed at 85°C and 25°C. For all investigated products, the storage modules increased when their samples were cooled. The frequency sweep at 25°C revealed that gels were formed. The best gelling performance was stated for the whey protein concentrate containing respectively: 65.3% of proteins and 5.9% of mineral salts. Among all investigated products, this particular composition seems to be the most optimal one to enable forming gel.

The effect of heat treatment on the ac conductivity and dielectric properties of the melt quenched and thermally evaporated Ag$\text{}_{33}$Sb$\text{}_{31}$Se$\text{}_{36}$ chalcogenide system are reported for the first time. The results of the alternating current conductivity σ$\text{}_{ac}$, the dielectric constantε$\text{}_{1}$, and the dielectric lossε$\text{}_{2}$ of the Ag$\text{}_{33}$Sb$\text{}_{31}$Se$\text{}_{36}$ thin film samples are presented over the temperature range 303-373 K and the frequency range 0.1-100 kHz. The temperature dependence of the ac conductivity σ$\text{}_{ac}$(ω) and the frequency exponent s are discussed with the aim of the correlated barrier hopping model. Values of σ$\text{}_{ac}$(ω),ε$\text{}_{1}$, and ε$\text{}_{2}$ were found to increase with the increase in the annealing temperature due to the reduction of the number of unsaturated defects which decrease the density of localized states in the band structure.

Results of the dielectric relaxation studies, performed for supramolecular polymer formed by N,N'-di(2,2-dipentylheptyl)urea dissolved in carbon tetrachloride, are presented. The measurements were done for N,N'-di(2,2-dipentylheptyl)urea concentration up to about 7% (in mole fraction) in the frequency region from 100 kHz to 100 MHz and at the temperatures from 5ºC to 50ºC. The analysis of the experimental data were performed with the Havriliak-Negami equation. In the studied range of N,N'-di(2,2-dipentylheptyl)urea concentration and temperature, the obtained values of exponentsα andβ of the Havriliak-Negami equation are equal to 0.9±0.1 and 0.7±0.1, respectively, showing an anomaly in the dielectric relaxation behavior close to the Davidson-Cole type. Two examples of the modeling of dielectric properties of the supramolecular polymer solutions were presented.
