In this article, I will discuss the position of King, Keohane and Verba. Referring directly to the issues of sociology and political science, these authors set the main goal of their considerations to show how to design a research that brings accurate conclusions about social and political life. Many of their comments are applicable to research in other fields of science, including in psychology. Qualitative, and not only quantitative, methods can be very useful in researching the IT environment. Educational organizations can apply the conclusions from studies which connect the qualitative and quantitative methods to assist in the staff development to achieve organizational goals. Also -in process of proper recruitment of leaders in business management or to assist the stuff to raise the performing of professional tasks, even self-development of stuff members should also use the scientific research findings. Hence I consider both – quantitative but also qualitative methods – worth quoting and analyzing.

Interviews are a widely used method in maritime research using qualitative methodologies. Expert interviews are conducted with people who have special knowledge because of their professional position. The status of the interviewer when using expert interviews brings forth certain distinct nuances due to the specific nature of the interview methodology and epistemological considerations. A renowned and senior maritime specialist or a veteran maritime professional researching the nuances of their own field encounter methodological challenges while interviewing other experts during data collection. The paper aims to examine the impact on qualitative data collected in interviews when the interviewers themselves are experts in the field of research. The concepts from the social science research from various disciplines have been examined and discussed highlighting the methodological challenges.

The purification of microplastic samples is a crucial step in environmental research, aiming to remove contaminants and ensure accurate analysis. This study explores various methods for purifying microplastics, focusing on the removal of organic contaminants, specifically fulvic acids. Comparative analysis using microscopic imaging techniques was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of these methods. The results highlight the complexities involved in microplastic purification and the challenges associated with different approaches. While some methods showed promising outcomes, such as the sonification method, it was also observed that they could potentially alter the microplastic structure. Additionally, the limitations and potential interferences of other purification methods, such as Fenton's solution, were identified. This study underscores the importance of selecting purification methods that minimize negative impacts on microplastics and ensure reliable analysis. Further research is needed to optimize purification techniques and fully understand their effects on microplastic integrity. This research contributes to the broader goal of developing robust methodologies for microplastic analysis in environmental studies.

The origin of maritime research lies in a multi‐disciplinary approach. The philosophical grounding for academic research inherently shapes the methodological approach, data collection methods adopted, and analysis techniques deployed. Thus, there is a need for an insight into the philosophical underpinnings of maritime research for better understanding of research design in maritime context. The paper will examine social science and its grounding in philosophical concepts for qualitative research, and the relevance of philosophical approach to ‘values’ in social science, to maritime research by using qualitative methods. The aim is to apprise the novice maritime researchers ‐ in simplistic language, about the philosophical approach to values, as an alternative to complex descriptions of concepts available in philosophical articles and references.

Lewicki zwraca uwagę przede wszystkim na akt nobilitacji filmu w świecie naukowym, a także na istotne rozpoznania Kleinera dotyczące filmu jako sztuki kierującej się nowymi zasadami tworzenia i cechującej się nowym sposobem odbioru. Główną część artykułu stanowi próba zastosowania innych, stricte filologicznych prac Kleinera oraz metodologii tam wypracowanej w kształtującym się na przełomie lat 50. i 60. XX w. filmoznawstwie jako akademickiej dyscyplinie naukowej (poszczególne uwagi dotyczą m.in. kwestii analizy dzieła, teorii procesu historycznego, a także zasad komparatystyki interdyscyplinarnej). The author recalls the 1929 essay “U wrót nowej estetyki” [“At the Gates of a New Aesthetics”] by Juliusz Kleiner (1886-1957), an eminent Polish humanist and philologist, and considers it as one of the most important publications within prewar Polish film thought. Lewicki primarily draws attention to the act of ennoblement of film in the scientific world, as well as Kleiner’s important observations on film as an art guided by new principles of creation and characterized by a new mode of reception. The main part of the article is an attempt to apply Kleiner’s other, strictly philological works and the methodology developed therein to film studies as an academic discipline, which was taking shape in the late 1950s and early 1960s (individual remarks concern, among other things, the issue of analysing a work, the theory of the historical process, as well as the principles of interdisciplinary comparative studies). Aim. To define and describe the positions of Ukrainians in their attitude to the war on Russia and reflection of this attitude in the discourse of daily life in wartime. Concept/Methods. 25 transcripts of semi-structured interviews subjected to thematic analysis. Relying on the categories identified through thematic analysis, the criteria differentiating the attitude of Ukrainians to the war, viz. personalization/depersonalization, media practice of content consumption, assessment of the so called “we-they-relationship”, reflection on the changes in daily life, the process of adaptation to changes, ideas of exemplary behavior were established. Results and conclusion. The analysis of the results enabled to outline the problematic field of assessment of the attitude of Ukrainians to the full-scale war on Russia and reflection of this attitude in the discourse of daily life in wartime. Relying on the criteria differentiating this attitude, three typical positions in the attitude of Ukrainians to the war were outlined – that of external observer, optimistic fatalist, and rational optimist. Practical application. Clarification of the specific characteristics of the attitude of Ukrainians to the war and perception of the enemy under such circumstances enables to envisage the public opinion response to certain decisions related to the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, to plan communication campaigns promoting volunteer movement with due account of different positions taken by Ukrainians as well as to determine the degree of psycho-traumatizing of individuals in the crisis situation of war via discourse. Originality/Cognitive value. The study was conducted in October-November 2022, on the ninth month of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, and it reflects the thoughts of Ukrainian civilians concerning the war, its reasons, collective responsibility of Russians, and, finally, changes occurring in the life of the country and every individual, the process of adaptation to this complex situation. The use of quality methods (semi-structured interview) for the study ensured focusing on subjective peculiarities of the perception of war and daily life during in wartime. Conclusions: The typology of ideas, types of attitude of Ukrainians to the reality of war requires verification and further specification within a quantitative study aimed at clarification of quantitative figures representing the prevalence of the established positions.

The low achievement of long jump athletes and the limited virtual-based aquatic plyometric exercises to increase lower extremity muscle strength are the gaps in this study. This study aims to increase lower extremity muscle strength of long jump athletes through virtual-based plyometric aquatic training. This research adopted a mixed methods research. This study involved participants from long jump athletes at the University of Tanjung Pura in Indonesia (n = 20). Participants were divided into two groups, namely an experimental group (n = 10) and control group (n = 10). The quantitative instrument involved a leg dynamometer for measuring lower extremity muscle strength. While, the qualitative instrument used in-depth interview. Quantitative data analysis was carried out through IBM SPSS to calculate descriptive statistics and normality, while the paired sample t-test to test differences in lower extremity muscle strength values in the experimental and control groups. Qualitative analysis was carried out through recording, describing and coding stages, which categorized into three themes. Based on quantitative results, it showed that virtual-based plyometric aquatic training was proven significantly increase lower extremity muscle strength (ps0.05), but there was no significant effect in the control group (p & 0.05). Qualitative results found out that most of the participants gave a positive opinion regarding virtual-based plyometric aquatics. Thus, this study confirms that virtual-based plyometric aquatic training can be used to increase lower extremity muscle strength.

Magnetorheological (MR) fluids are classified as smart materials. They are non-homogeneous substances of complex composition and are characterised by complex rheological properties. In addition, the characteristics of their behaviour can be actively affected by the magnetic field, both in terms of its value and spatial orientation. This paper presents the results of shear stress measurements of a commercial magnetorheological fluid using a plate-plate type geometry with a modified working surface. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of changing the roughness of the measuring plate on the obtained shear stress results. Controlled shear rate tests and Magneto Sweep measurements were carried out for three MR fluid layer heights. The tests were carried out at magnetic field induction in the range of 0 to 680 mT. The study showed that the measurement system's geometric parameters significantly affect the MR fluid's behaviour under test. It was shown that increasing the surface roughness can increase or decrease the measured value of shear stress depending on the test parameters.
Ciecze magnetoreologiczne (MR) zaliczane są do grona materiałów inteligentnych. Są to substancje niejednorodne o złożonym składzie i charakteryzują się złożonymi właściwościami reologicznymi. Ponadto charakterystyki ich zachowania mogą być aktywnie kształtowane przez pole magnetyczne, zarówno ze względu na jego wartość, jak i orientację przestrzenną. W pracy przedstawiono wyniki pomiarów naprężenia stycznego komercyjnej cieczy MR z wykorzystaniem geometrii pomiarowej typu płytka–płytka o modyfikowanej powierzchni roboczej. Celem badań było określenie wpływu zmiany chropowatości płytki pomiarowej na uzyskiwane wyniki naprężeń ścinających. Przeprowadzono badania z kontrolowaną szybkością ścinania oraz pomiary typu Magneto Sweep dla trzech wysokości warstwy cieczy MR. Badania przeprowadzono przy indukcji pola magnetycznego w zakresie 0 do 680 mT. Badania wykazały, że parametry geometryczne układu pomiarowego istotnie wpływają na zachowanie się badanej cieczy MR. Wykazano, że w zależności od parametrów badania zwiększenie chropowatości powierzchni może powodować zwiększenie lub zmniejszenie rejestrowanej wartości naprężeń stycznych.

Theoretical background: Intellectual capital is perceived as a global economy driving factor. Many researchers highlight that it is an ingredient improving the functional gear of almost any organisation. Some voices have simultaneously appeared in scientific discussions claiming that the concept of intellectual capital management may not be fully applicable, either in conditions of economic downturn or during turbulent changes. A whole spectrum of external factors then come to the floor, affecting the situation of a company, while the periods of economic perturbations discourage investments in human resources and hamper HR initiatives. Therefore, in these changing economic conditions, a question arises about the rationale for and the directions of the development on the research on intellectual capital, and the concept itself undergoes a practical verification of suitability and usefulness. This is a particularly interesting field of research because the transformations, which take place in the environment of enterprises, create specific expectations, which should be met within the framework of ongoing research projects on the intellectual capital.Purpose of the article: The aim of this article is to identify the dominant topical trends and networks of research directions in the subject of intellectual capital and their changes over time. The study attempts to illustrate these changes.Research methods: Having employed the text mining method, nearly 5,000 scientific articles on intellectual capital were analysed. Consequently, this extensive literature review enabled mapping of the network of links among the research directions in this area.Main findings: The results of the study have provided a fairly deep insight into the trends in the research on intellectual capital over the years. The results also reflect the vastness of the subject and the scope of the issues addressed over the past and present years. The interest in the concept of intellectual capital management continues and the dynamics of changes in the environment of the modern enterprise is not at all insignificant. The clusters, identified in the research on intellectual capital, have been opening new theoretical, pragmatic and methodological horizons. The analysis, carried out within the study network, confirmed the multifaceted nature of the network of research directions in the area of intellectual capital. In addition, the new research trends, which have been emerging in this area, clearly respond both to the dynamic changes in the business environment and to the doubts about the scale of activities, undertaken with regard to the intellectual capital management. Thus, in this situation, the periods of crisis and instability appear on one hand as a serious threat to the issue of intellectual capital management, while on the other, they can be perceived as an opportunity to renew the existing management concepts.

Artykuł stanowi argumentację na rzecz metodologicznej odrębności nauk prawnych. Metodologiczna odrębność (swoistość) nauk prawnych została przedstawiona w trzech wymiarach: 1) przedmiotu; 2) metody i 3) celu badań naukowych. Analiza może być wykorzystana zarówno jako argument przeciwko braku tożsamości metodologicznej nauk prawnych, jak i pozytywnie dla całościowego i integracyjnego modelu nauk prawnych. Ze względu na złożoność przedmiotu i celów nauk prawnych należy stosować różne metody badawcze. W dalszych badaniach wskazane byłoby ustalenie ich możliwych systemów w określonym problemie badawczym.
The paper is an attempt to argue for the methodological distinctiveness of legal sciences. The methodological distinctiveness (specificity) of legal sciences has been presented in three dimensions: 1) the subject; 2) methods and 3) purpose of scientific research. The analysis can be used both for the argument against the lack of a methodological identity of the legal sciences and positively for the comprehensive research and the integrative model of the legal sciences. In view of the complexity of the subject and the aims of legal science should be used various research methods. In further research, it would be advisable to establish their possible systems in a specific research problem.

The term ‘social responsibility of museums’ implies various associations, most frequently referring to the sphere of management and the activities of commercial entities in accordance with the ISO 26000 standard. In this article, we report on some of the tasks performed in connection with a project based on a sociological perspective and addressing the social responsibility of public cultural institutions such as museums. As this concept is relatively new, we decided to check how it is understood in the social world of Polish museum professionals. The research was therefore carried out using elements of the grounded theory methodology, i.e., the concepts (categories) were not defined at the outset, but defined and characterised in the course of the research according to the understanding of the respondents. Using a triangulation of methods, an analysis of found data, individual interviews in Polish museums (IDI) and focus group interviews (FGI) in Polish and international groups were conducted. A particularly interesting strand of the Project was museum education and its growing importance. This article focuses on the conducted focus group interviews (FGI). A specific commentary on the findings is provided by the reflections given during a guest lecture by Dr Bernadette Lynch organised as part of the Project.

W artykule przestawiono wyniki badania socjolingwistycznego, przeprowadzonego w 2019 roku wśród młodzieży polskiego i niepolskiego pochodzenia, która uczy się razem w klasach przeznaczonych dla polskiej mniejszości narodowej w Ogólnokształcącej Szkole Średniej Nr 3 (obecnie Liceum Nr 3) w Iwano-Frankiwsku (dawnym Stanisławowie). Przeprowadzono 170 ankiet dotyczących statusu języka polskiego wśród młodzieży w wieku 12–17 lat, która uczy się w klasach z polskim językiem nauczania. Zgodnie ze statutem szkoły w tych klasach mają prawo uczyć się także uczniowie, którzy nie mają polskiego pochodzenia. Dla grupy uczniów polskiego pochodzenia – 42 uczniów (25% od ogólnej liczby ankietowanych) – język polski ma status języka odziedziczonego, języka przodków, a także status ekonomiczny, język polski jest powiązany z nauką w przyszłości i życiem w Polsce. Dla grupy uczniów niepolskiego pochodzenia – 128 uczniów (75% od ogólnej liczby ankietowanych) – język polski ma status ekonomiczny i status języka polskiego jako drugiego języka obcego nauczania; około 40% tych uczniów wiąże swoją przyszłość z emigracją do Polski.
This article presents the results of a sociolinguistic survey of 2019 conducted among the youth of Polish and non-Polish descent studying together in classes dedicated to the Polish national minority in the 3rd Upper-Secondary School in Ivano-Frankivsk (formerly: Stanyslaviv). The survey was composed of 170 questionnaires concerning the status of the Polish language among the youth aged 12–17 studying in classes with Polish as the language of instruction. Under the statute of the School, pupils of non-Polish descent may also study in such classes. For the group of pupils of Polish descent, i.e. 42 pupils (25% of the total number of respondents), Polish has the status of an inherited language, the language of ancestors, and the economic status, Polish is associated with studying and living in Poland in the future. For the group of pupils of non-Polish descent, i.e. 128 pupils (75% of the total number of respondents), Polish has the economic status and the status of Polish as a second foreign language of instruction; around 40% of the pupils intend to emigrate to Poland in the future.

The question about the subject matter of philosophy of law belongs to fundamental issues of this academic discipline. Although there are more and more new concepts, this dispute has not been unanimously resolved. The purpose of the article is not only the presentation of existing views of the doctrine regarding the question what is the subject matter of philosophy of law?, but an attempt to answer the question how does the evolution of the subject matter of philosophy of law influence the development directions of philosophical and legal problems? Taking into consideration the fact that each of the philosophical systems defined thematical scope of philosophy of law in a different way, systematisation is necessary.
Pytanie o przedmiot filozofii prawa należy do rudymentarnych zagadnień tej dyscypliny akademickiej. Pomimo pojawiania się coraz to nowych koncepcji, spór ten nie został ostatecznie rozstrzygnięty. Celem artykułu nie jest tylko prezentacja dotychczasowych stanowisk doktryny w zakresie, jaki jest przedmiot filozofii prawa, lecz próba odpowiedzi na pytanie, jak ewolucja przedmiotu filozofii prawa wpływa na rozwój kierunków problematyki filozoficznoprawnej? Biorąc pod uwagę fakt, że każdy z systemów filozoficznych nieco inaczej zakreślał obszar tematyczny filozofii prawa należy dokonać systematyzacji.

Social science research methods are being increasingly taught in an online setting. The COVID-19 pandemic has been a major driver of this trend recently. Although there has been extensive research on online teaching and learning in general, very few studies focus on how this needs to be done specifically in social science research methods (SSRM). This literature review summarizes the most current research evidence on SSRM teaching in an online setting. Such information can facilitate setting up future online teaching and learning activities regarding social science research methods. In addition, the article discusses how this knowledge can be transferred to a practical SSRM online teaching and learning tool (a toolbox in the Navigating Social Worlds project).

Opis:
Any aspect related to the user's feelings when using or imagining the use of the product is referred to as User Experience (UX). The task of today's organizations is to model the user experience in such a way that when interacting with the product, the user feels only positive emotions. However, User Experience design also requires testing the created solutions, which often turns out to be a barrier for enterprises due to the high cost of research. The purpose of this article is to present the importance of user research methods in User Experience design. The article will present the subject of UX design as a direction of application development, research methods with users in UX design and the essence of research in User Experience modeling. In order to achieve the set goal, the article uses an analysis of literature and Internet sources. After the completed analyses, it can be concluded that research with users generates added value for User Experience design on the part of both users and employees.
Wszelkie aspekty związane z odczuciami użytkownika podczas korzystania lub wyobrażenia korzystania z produktu określa się mianem User Experience (UX). Zadaniem dzisiejszych organizacji jest zamodelowanie doświadczenia użytkownika w taki sposób, aby podczas interakcji z produktem odczuwał on jedynie pozytywne emocje. Jednakże projektowanie User Experience wymaga także przetestowania stworzonych rozwiązań, co często okazuje się barierą dla przedsiębiorstw. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie znaczenia badań z użytkownikami w projektowaniu User Experience. W artykule zaprezentowano tematykę projektowania UX jako kierunku rozwoju aplikacji, metod badawczych z użytkownikami w projektowaniu UX oraz istotę badań w modelowaniu doświadczenia użytkownika. Aby zrealizować postawiony cel, w opracowaniu wykorzystano analizę literatury i źródeł internetowych. Po przeprowadzonych analizach można stwierdzić, że badania z użytkownikami generują wartość dodaną dla projektowania User Experience ze strony zarówno użytkowników, jak i pracowników.
