Celem artykułu jest analiza trzech dyskusyjnych aspektów świadectwa w psalmach: obecności terminu עֵדוּת ‘ēdût w tytułach psalmów (Ps 60,1; 80,1), rozumienia, kim jest świadek w Ps 89,38 oraz tłumaczenia terminu עֵדוּת  ‘ēdût w Ps 119. Najpierw autor syntetycznie prezentuje to, co Psalmy mówią na temat świadectwa (pkt 1). Następnie zajmuje się analizą terminu עֵדוּת ‘ēdût w tytułach psalmów, w której dochodzi do wniosku, iż termin ten należy interpretować jako niezależną część tytułu i tłumaczyć jako „świadectwo” (pkt 2). W kolejnej części przedstawia dotychczasowe propozycje egzegetów rozumienia, kim jest świadek w Ps 89,38 (tęcza, słońce, księżyc, tron, Bóg) oraz proponuje nową interpretację mesjańską (pkt 3). W ostatniej części, po prezentacji stanu tłumaczeń, proponuje interpretację עֵדוּת  ‘ēdût w Ps 119 jako terminu technicznego i oddawania go zawsze terminem „świadectwo”.
The aim of this article is to analyze three difficult aspects of testimony in the Book of Psalms: (1) the term עֵדוּת‘ēdût in the titles of certain Psalms (Ps 60:1; 80:1); (2) understanding who or what is referred to as a witness in Ps 89:38; and (3) the proper translation of עֵדוּת ‘ēdût, and its meaning, in its multiple uses in Ps 119.  First, as background, the author synthetically depicts what the psalms say generally regarding the notion of testimony. Proceeding to the focal issues, he first analyzes עֵדוּת ‘ēdût in the titles of the two psalms and concludes that the term should be interpreted as an independent title and translated as “testimony”. The next section presents the current understandings of who or what is a witness in Ps 89:38 (rainbow, sun, moon, throne, God), and proposes a new messianic interpretation. In the final part, after the presentation of various translations, the author suggests interpreting עֵדוּת ‘ēdût in Psalm 119 as a technical term, properly translated in Psalm 119 always as “testimony”.

Opis:
The basic system of chemiluminescence investigations of relevant biological and inorganic compounds consists of Eu(II)/Eu(III) - H$\text{}_{2}$O$\text{}_{2}$. In these studies the increase in Eu(III) ion emission intensity usually results from an effective complexation reaction. In the present study, the N$\text{}_{3}^{-}$ ions are used as a ligand. The increase in the chemiluminescence intensity of the Eu(III) ion, the pH influence (in the range of 4.5-7.5) on the chemiluminescence intensity of the Eu(III) ion, as well as the quenching of the $\text{}^{5}$D$\text{}_{0}$ excited state of the Eu(III) ion are observed due to N$\text{}_{3}^{-}$ complexation. Taking into account the well-known Fenton system [Fe(II)/Fe(III) - H$\text{}_{2}$O$\text{}_{2}$], containing additionally the N$\text{}_{3}^{-}$, Eu(III) or Sm(III) ions, we found that the Eu(III) or Sm(III) ions were excited as a result of energy transfer process. A mechanism of the studied reactions is proposed.

Opis:
The structure of the surface and spectra of the cathodoluminescence of Y₂O₃:Eu thin films when changing the activator concentration in the range 1.0-7.5% by mole obtained by RF sputtering were investigated. On the base of the shape of the cathodoluminescence spectra at different concentrations of the activator, the possibility of irregular solutions creating of yttrium and europium oxides and the structural features of the small and large crystallites forming the film Y₂O₃:Eu is shown. The dependence of the cathodoluminescence intensity on the energy of the exited electrons and current density of electron irradiation was established.

Opis:
Thermally stimulated luminescence of X-ray irradiated β -Ga₂O₃ thin films was investigated. An analysis of the form of the elementary contours making the thermally stimulated luminescence curves shows that recombination processes at the thermally stimulated luminescence peaks with maxima at 77, 135, 178, and 235 K in thin films of β -Ga₂O₃ are described in terms of linear kinetics. The spectral composition of the thermally stimulated luminescence of the thin films was studied. Some methods are employed to determine the activation energies and frequency factors corresponding to the thermally stimulated luminescence peaks. It is established that the recombination processes occurring upon release of the trapping centers in thin films β -Ga₂O₃ are conditioned by diffusion-controlled tunneling recombination due to thermally-stimulated migration of V_{k}-centers.-

The advent of free electron lasers opens up new opportunities to probe the dynamics of ultrafast processes and the structure of matter with unprecedented spatial and temporal resolution. New methods inaccessible with other known types of radiation sources can be developed, resulting in a breakthrough in deep understanding the fundamentals of life as well as in numerous medical and biological applications. In the present work the properties of free electron laser radiation that make the sources excellent for probing biological matter at an arbitrary wavelength, in a wide range of intensities and pulse durations are briefly discussed. A number of biophysical and biomedical applications of the new sources, currently considered among the most promising in the field, are presented.

Opis:
The surface of 6H-SiC(0001) samples was subjected to etching under $H_{2}$/Ar gas mixture in a cold-wall tubular furnace. Its topography and properties were characterized by atomic force microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy before and after hydrogen etching. The conditions have been found, under which surface polishing-related damages could be removed. Si droplets were observed under certain etching conditions. The effect of the samples' cooling rate on the obtained surface morphology and chemistry was investigated to unveil the mechanism of Si recrystallization onto the crystal surface upon etching.

This study addressed the advanced micro-morphological characterization of 3D surfaces of thin films based on composites of an organic matrix of poly-methyl-methacrylate and inorganic titanium-dioxide nanocrystals. The films were prepared by spin-coating of a series of solutions with increasing loading concentration of the nanocrystals, from 5 up to 40% by weight. The film surfaces were investigated by atomic force microscopy, and the resulting images were analyzed in detail to obtain a full quantitative description of their surface micro-morphology. The fractal analysis of the surface roughness was used to extract the characteristics of amplitude, spatial distribution, and pattern. A fractal geometry was indeed observed, and the corresponding fractal dimension D was determined for all the samples. In view of the possible use of these thin films as functional coatings, the calculated quantities are discussed with respect to the foreseen durability of these surfaces during operation under wear.

Opis:
Newly constructed 4th generation sources of intense synchrotron radiation in ultrafast pulses of only 10-50 fs and wavelengths up to X-rays, the free electron lasers, are expected to revolutionize development of biological science. To take full advantage of unique properties of the sources, new imaging techniques of molecular and microscopic biological objects are developed. Present article provides a short review of a stormy development of bioimaging with incoming soon 4th generation synchrotron radiation X-ray sources. Some implications for the future of new sources and techniques are discussed as well.

In a biomimetic approach for designing implants, both the physical properties (such as topography, elasticity, roughness, hydrophilicity, charges etc.) and the chemical structure of the artificial biomaterial should be considered, since they affect the adhesion of proteins in the nanometer-scale and of the cells in micro-scale at the interface. In this case, surface modification of biomaterials plays a major role because of the expectations from the material surface. These may be realized by changing the surface chemistry, physically or chemically, or by coating it with a material having a certain chemical composition. In this study, surface properties like topography and roughness, and mechanical properties like elastic modulus and hardness are determined for nanocoated materials.
