    The various connections between financial, physical, and mental health are often visible: health (physical and mental) can have an outsized impact on one’s financial life. The reverse is true as well: financial well-being and socioeconomic status are often determining factors in what helps people keep healthy. How religious institutions (Igreja Internacional da Graça de Deus/International Church of the Grace of God – here IIGD), by means of their doctrines (prosperity gospel) and business-like (including religious marketing) strategies of growth, influence everyday life of their followers in Brazil, while taking advantage of the “health and wealth” concept for the sake of their own expansion, is the main topic of the article.

    Jednym z ważniejszych wyznań pontyfikatu Franciszka wydaje się być konfrontacja z rosnącym w siły w całym świecie ruchem pentekostalnym. Jednym z objawów jego działalności jest „teologia dobrobytu”, nazywna także „Ewangelią dobrobytu”, według której gwarancją zdrowia i bogactwa na ziemi jest wyznawanie wiary w Boga i modlitwa do Niego. Celem artykułu jest wyjaśnienie istoty tego zjawiska, z uwzględnieniem aspektów historycznych i geograficznych oraz pokazanie, w jaki sposób ten temat w swoim nauczaniu podejmuje papież Franciszek. W ostatniej części tekstu zostają nakreślone najważniejsze wyzwania etyczne, wynikające z szerzenia się tej „fałszywej Ewangelii”.
    One of the most important challenges of the pontificate of Francis seems to be the confrontation with the pentecostal movement that is growing in strength in the world. One of the signs of his activity is "theology of prosperity", also called " prosperity Gospel", according to which the guarantee of health and wealth on earth is the confession of faith in God and prayer to Him. The purpose of the article is to explain the essence of this phenomenon, taking into account historical and geographical aspects, and to show how this topic is addressed in his teaching by Pope Francis. The last part of the text outlines the most important ethical challenges arising from the spread of this "false Gospel".

    Prosperity Gospel is a problematic issue for the Evangelical and Pentecostal Christianity, and it is so in at least two perspectives. First, it influences the teaching of many preachers who employ this approach to capture new believers on the one hand, and it is sharply criticised by many prominent Evangelical theologians who regard it as a serious heresy, a deception of many Christians, on the other. Second, it is a matter of profound theological question raised from the very core of Christian faith and asking how to find a delicate balance between Jesus' calling to bear the cross and his blessing from the Sermon on the Mount. The most frequent framework is the one that considers the prosperity gospel as the distortion of the substantial Evangelical tenets, and that stems from the various ideological and sociological processes in the 19th United States. The article offers a brief outline of the prosperity message and answers the following research questions: What is the prosperity gospel? What are the roots of it? What are the most critical theological points of the prosperity teaching? What charges are raised by the critics from the Evangelical background? The literary analysis of Evangelical literature is the primary method used to solve the problem.
    Teologia sukcesu jest zagadnieniem kłopotliwym dla chrześcijaństwa ewangelikalnego i pentekostalnego, co najmniej z dwóch perspektyw. Po pierwsze, z jednej strony wpływa na nauczanie wielu kaznodziei, którzy stosują to podejście teologiczne aby pozyskać nowych wiernych, z drugiej jest bardzo mocno krytykowana przez ważnych teologów ewangelikalnych, którzy ujmują ją jako poważną herezję, zwodzącą wielu chrześcijan. Ponadto, jest przedmiotem głębokich pytań teologicznych podnoszonych z samego jądra wiary chrześcijańskiej i  dotyczących delikatnej równowagi pomiędzy wyzwaniem Jezusa do niesienia krzyża i błogosławieństwami z Kazania na Górze. Najczęstszą ramą badawczą, w której interpretuje się teologię sukcesu jest ujmowanie jej jako zniekształcenie kluczowych założeń teologii ewangelikalnej. Artykuł przedstawia zwięzły zarys teologii sukcesu, dążąc do odpowiedzi na następujące pytania badawcze: Czym jest teologia sukcesu? Jakie są jej korzenie? Jakie są jej kluczowe założenia? Jakie zarzuty są jej stawiane z perspektywy teologii ewangelikalnej? W celu odpowiedzi na powyższe pytania dokonano analizy literatury ewangelikalnej.

    This article focuses primarily on a synthetic presentation of the global process of pentecostalization as well as the analysis of the selected religious abuses that occur in Christian communities on the grounds of emotional and syncretic Pentecostal religiosity. Over the last two decades, the interest in the problem of psychomanipulation and religious abuses has grown significantly in the Catholic Church and in other Christian denominations. This phenomenon is subject to in-depth philosophical, psychological, sociological, theological and cultural analyses, particularly in countries such as the United States, France or Great Britain. Religious abuse, also known as spiritual abuse or spiritual violence, refers to various forms of psychomanipulation, power, and control over people through religion, faith, or beliefs. The risk of abuse is especially high in the context of contemporary syncretic Neo-Pentecostal religiosity which is characterized by the so-called praying in tongues, miracles, emphasizing the presence of the devil in the world, exorcisms, prayers of deliverance, healings, introducing participants of prayer meetings into altered states of consciousness, etc. In the application of such methods, the principle of informed consent, which in medical practice applies to the relationship between doctors and patients, should be one of the basic ethical norms implemented with the aim of protecting against religious abuse and regulating the relationship of leaders to members of their communities.

    It is a fact that Neopentecostal version of Christianity, i.e. the so-called third wave of Pentecostal revival developing form the 1970s, receives quite a lot of attention in Ghana (and not only there). To a large extent, its attractiveness is due to such treatment of indigenous key worries of the Ghanaians (health and prosperity) that many perceive as Christian. The article presents an outline of the religious context of contemporary Ghana in which the indigenous worldview has been creatively remodelled in interaction with Christianity. The Neopentecostal version of this reformulation receives the main attention in the article. Examples are drawn from the teachings and practice of two oldest Ghanaian Neopentecostal groups – Christian Action Faith Ministries International led by Nicholas Duncan-Williams and International Central Gospel Church led by Mensa Otabil. The article also examines the problem of the effects of Neopentecostal teaching concentrated on the prosperity gospel. Though full effects are still to be seen and assessed the author tends to agree with those who, at present, see that the prosperity gospel leads quite a lot of Ghanaian Christians (many in an unconscious way) into a form of escapism (a flee from real problems into a world of dreams, expectations and faith).
