Opis:
With global life expectancy rising every year, ageing-associated diseases are becoming an increasingly important problem. Very often, successful treatment relies on early diagnosis. In this work, the issue of Parkinson's disease (PD) diagnostics is tackled. It is particularly important, as there are no certain antemortem methods of diagnosing PD - meaning that the presence of the disease can only be confirmed after the patient's death. In our work, we propose a non-invasive approach for classification of raw speech recordings for PD recognition using deep learning models. The core of the method is an audio classifier using knowledge transfer from a pretrained natural language model, namely wav2vec 2.0. The model was tested on a group of 38 PD patients and 10 healthy persons above the age of 50. A dataset of speech recordings acquired using a smartphone recorder was constructed and the recordings were labelled as PD/non-PD with the severity of the disease additionally rated using Hoehn-Yahr scale. We then benchmarked the classification performance against baseline methods. Additionally, we show an assessment of human-level performance with neurology professionals.

Opis:
The paper aims to examine the relationship between three factors among Generation Z members: time spent on SNSs (Social Network Sites) activities, visual vs. linguistic emotional stimuli processing, and neural activation during the performance of visual vs. verbal tasks. Although generation Z is described as having worse emotional linguistic competence than it does a visual competence, there is a lack of experimental research documenting these dissimilarities. The study involved a group of 57 adults born between 1995-2000, i.e. representatives of Generation Z. The experiment consisted of two parts: the first devoted to the testing of emotion recognition from images (The Scale of Emotional Intelligence – Faces), and the second performing linguistic emotional tasks (The Emotion Understanding Test). During the tests a neuroimaging technique (functional near-infrared spectroscopy) was applied to examine and register neural cortical activity in the frontal, temporal, and occipital areas. The Social Network Sites Scale was used to assess the level of social network site use. Results showed that individuals representing Generation Z perform better in visual emotional task than in linguistic tasks. There is an association between SNSs use and brain activation. Gen Z who overuse SNSs present greater activation of the brain regions responsible for a greater cognitive effort such as frontal and prefrontal areas. The activation differences in the frontal and temporal cortical regions between high users of SNSs and low users document the impact of SNSs utilization on brain functioning and confirm that SNSs overuse can have a negative impact on linguistic emotional stimuli processing.

Opis:
The article examines the role of the Rural Development Programme (RDP) 2014–2020 investment funds in shaping the capabilities of the Polish agri-food processing industry to enhance its competitive advantages under new conditions dictated by the necessity of transitioning towards more sustainable production systems. The research is based on data from 783 agri-food processing enterprises that benefited from the 2014–2020 RDP support. The scope and directions of support offered during the previous programming period, public funding allocated to enterprises within individual sectors, strategies and investment priorities of the entities covered by the support, as well as the planned and achieved results across crucial areas have been scrutinised. The findings indicate that the RDP funds were effective in enhancing short-term competitiveness, primarily through modernising equipment and updating machine parks, which in turn expanded production potential. However, the role of these funds in facilitating the transition from traditional competitive strategies to more sustainable and innovative approaches was not as profound as required. Insufficient efforts were directed towards building a robust foundation to address growing climate, environmental, and socio-economic challenges, which is crucial for developing new competitive edges. Furthermore, in the group of enterprises studied, no material actions or investments were identified that would prepare companies for bolstering competitiveness through digital transformation. This suggests a pressing need for revisions in public support programmes designed for the agri-food sector enterprises in Poland.

In this work, a comparative study on the ballistic behaviour of friction stir processed AL6061 targets had been made. Base Metal AL6061 (BM) plates with 25 mm thickness were friction stir processed by adding Multi Walled Carbon Nano Tubes (MWCNT) and Graphene (G), producing AL6061-MWCNT and AL6061-G surface composites. Optical microscopy and microhardness test on BM, AL6061-MWCNT and AL6061-G samples were performed as per the standard procedure. It was noticed that uniform dispersion of ceramic particles and refined grains were obtained for the friction stir processed surface composites. From the microhardness test, it was perceived that friction stir processing had induced strengthening of surface composites, hence increasing the microhardness of AL6061-MWCNT and AL6061-G by ~60.3% and ~73.6% respectively. Also, ballistic experiments were conducted at 680±10 m/s by impacting Ø7.62×51 mm projectiles. AL6063 backing plates were placed to compare the ballistic behaviours AL6061-MWCNT and AL6061-G targets by depth of penetration. It was noted that the depth of penetration of AL6061-MWCNT and AL6061-G targets were 37.81% and 65.84% lesser than the BM target. Further, from the results of Post ballistic microscopy it was observed that the microstructure near and away from the penetration channel edge looks unchanged in BM target. However, the AL6061-MWCNT and AL6061-G targets showed considerable change in their morphology, by forming Adiabatic Shear Bands.

The tracking of moving objects with the use of GPS/GNSS or other techniques is relied upon in numerous applications, from health monitoring and physical activity support, to social investigations to detection of fraud in transportation. While monitoring movement, a common subtask consists in determining the object’s moving periods, and its immobility periods. In this paper, we isolate the mathematical problem of automatic detection of a stop of tracking objects under the stream processing regime (ideal data processing algorithm regime) in which one is allowed to use only a constant amount of memory, while the stream of GNSS positions of the tracked object increases in size. We propose an approximation scheme of the stop detection problem based on the fuzziness in the approximation of noise level related to the position reported by GNSS. We provide a solving algorithm that determines some upper bounds for the problem’s complexity. We also provide an experimental illustration of the problem at hand.

Bone fractures break bone continuity. Impact or stress causes numerous bone fractures. Fracture misdiagnosis is the most frequent mistake in emergency rooms, resulting in treatment delays and permanent impairment. According to the Indian population studies, fractures are becoming more common. In the last three decades, there has been a growth of 480 000, and by 2022, it will surpass 600 000. Classifying X-rays may be challenging, particularly in an emergency room when one must act quickly. Deep learning techniques have recently become more popular for image categorization. Deep neural networks (DNNs) can classify images and solve challenging problems. This research aims to build and evaluate a deep learning system for fracture identification and bone fracture classification (BFC). This work proposes an image-processing system that can identify bone fractures using X-rays. Images from the dataset are pre-processed, enhanced, and extracted. Then, DNN classifiers ResNeXt101, InceptionResNetV2, Xception, and NASNetLarge separate the images into the ones with unfractured and fractured bones (normal, oblique, spiral, comminuted, impacted, transverse, and greenstick). The most accurate model is InceptionResNetV2, with an accuracy of 94.58%.

Additions were proposed to the method of organizing the information security (IS) event management process of companies. Unlike existing solutions, the algorithm of the "Event handling" subprocess was detailed. This detailing is a complex, which includes the IS event processing substage. In addition, the proposed detailing of the "Event Handling" subprocess allows for covering the entire life cycle of an IS event. The performed research allows in practice to fill in potential gaps in information when creating a company's ISMS. An additional advantage of the proposed solution is the possibility of using this sub-process as an independent one. The proposed approach makes it possible to simplify the procedure for managing the information security of a company as a whole, as well as potentially reduce the costs of its construction for small companies and enterprises. Also, this subprocess can be considered as an independent information security management process, for example, for a company's CIS. The proposed solutions and additions, in contrast to similar studies, are characterized by invariance with respect to the methods of implementing the company's IS infrastructure solutions, and in particular its CIS. This ultimately allows, without changing the methodological tools, to scale this approach and adapt it to the ISMS of various companies.

Opis:
Sentiment analysis is an efficient technique for expressing users’ opinions (neutral, negative or positive) regarding specific services or products. One of the important benefits of analyzing sentiment is in appraising the comments that users provide or service providers or services. In this work, a solution known as adaptive rider feedback artificial tree optimization-based deep neuro-fuzzy network (RFATO-based DNFN) is implemented for efficient sentiment grade classification. Here, the input is pre-processed by employing the process of stemming and stop word removal. Then, important factors, e.g. SentiWordNet-based features, such as the mean value, variance, as well as kurtosis, spam word-based features, term frequency-inverse document frequency (TF-IDF) features and emoticon-based features, are extracted. In addition, angular similarity and the decision tree model are employed for grouping the reviewed data into specific sets. Next, the deep neuro-fuzzy network (DNFN) classifier is used to classify the sentiment grade. The proposed adaptive rider feedback artificial tree optimization (A-RFATO) approach is utilized for the training of DNFN. The A-RFATO technique is a combination of the feedback artificial tree (FAT) approach and the rider optimization algorithm (ROA) with an adaptive concept. The effectiveness of the proposed A-RFATO-based DNFN model is evaluated based on such metrics as sensitivity, accuracy, specificity, and precision. The sentiment grade classification method developed achieves better sensitivity, accuracy, specificity, and precision rates when compared with existing approaches based on Large Movie Review Dataset, Datafiniti Product Database, and Amazon reviews.

With expanding local, national, and international markets and changing customer expectations, enterprises are faced with the need to implement solutions to compete effectively. It is expected that agile management allows enterprises to achieve this objective. Therefore, many organizations, including those in the food sector, are taking advantage of agile management solutions and see changes in consumer behavior as an opportunity for growth. The present study has a theoretical and empirical character. The basis of the theoretical considerations is a critical analysis of the scientific literature on the concept of agility and its relevance to organizations. The diversity of perspectives on the problems of agility, highlighted in many publications, provided the basis for identifying a research gap and formulating a research objective and conducting an empirical study. The study describes the agile management of enterprises, indicates the characteristics and mechanisms applicable to organic food production, and characterizes organic food processing enterprises in Poland. The survey was conducted in 2021-2022 and allowed the authors to analyze the location, size, type of production, or capital in the enterprises. This was possible with a properly designed questionnaire and statistical analysis.

Finger tapping is one of the standard tests for Parkinson's disease diagnosis performed to assess the motor function of patients' upper limbs. In clinical practice, the assessment of the patient's ability to perform the test is carried out visually and largely depends on the experience of clinicians. This article presents the results of research devoted to the objectification of this test. The methodology was based on the proposed measurement method consisting in frame processing of the video stream recorded during the test to determine the time series representing the distance between the index finger and the thumb. Analysis of the resulting signals was carried out in order to determine the characteristic features that were then used in the process of distinguishing patients with Parkinson's disease from healthy cases using methods of machine learning. The research was conducted with the participation of 21 patients with Parkinson's disease and 21 healthy subjects. The results indicate that it is possible to obtain the sensitivity and specificity of the proposed method at the level of approx. 80 %. However, the patients were in the so-called ON phase when symptoms are reduced due to medication, which was a much greater challenge compared to analyzing signals with clearly visible symptoms as reported in related works.

As well known, each scientific and technological step in mineral industry creates huge amount of raw data and there is a serious necessity to firstly classify them. Afterwards experts should find alternative solutions in order to get optimal results by using those parameters and relations between them using special simulation software platforms. Development of these simulation models for such complex operations is not only time consuming and lacks real time applicability but also requires integration of multiple software platforms, intensive process knowledge and extensive model validation. An example case study is also demonstrated and the results are discussed within the article covering the main inferences, comments and decision during NI use for the experimental parameters used in a flotation related postgraduate study and compares with possible AI use.

Our research aims to reconstruct expert preferences regarding the visual attractiveness of furniture fronts made of pine wood using machine learning algorithms. A numerical experiment was performed using five machine learning algorithms of various paradigms. To find the answer to the question of what determines the expert’s decision, we determined the importance of variables for some machine learning models. For random forest and classification trees, it involves the overall reduction in node impurities resulting from variable splitting, while for neural networks it uses the Garson algorithm. Based on the numerical experiments we can conclude that the best results of expert decision reconstruction are provided by a neural network model. The expert’s decision is better reconstructed for more beautiful images. The decision for nice images is made based on the best 4 or 5 variables, while for ugly images many more features are important. Prettier images and those for which the expert’s decision is better reconstructed have fewer knots.

W pracy przedstawiono wyniki własnych badań nad desonoryzacją w dyslalii dotyczące audiogennych uwarunkowań dobrostanu dzieci z dyslalią i z zaburzeniami w realizacji dźwięczności fonemów obstruentalnych. Materiał badawczy pochodzi od 15 osób w wieku od 7 do 18 lat. U wszystkich wykonano przesiewowe testy psychoakustyczne w kierunku APD i badania psychologiczne.
The paper presents the results of my own research on desonorization in dyslalia concerning the audiogenic determinants of the well-being of children with dyslalia and disorders in the realization of the voicing of obstruent phonemes. The research material comes from 15 people aged 7 to 18 years. All patients underwent psychoacoustic screening tests for APD and psychological tests. In selected psychoacoustic tests of higher auditory functions, children with dyslalia and desonorization achieve results below the age norms, which indicates the need for appropriate auditory training. Decreased results in the GDT test were found in 33% of the examined children, in the DTP test in 47%, in the FTP test in 73% and in the DDT test in 100%. Psychological studies of children with desonorization show deficits in the non-auditory modalities, mainly related to memory and attention processes, which indicates the need for appropriate cognitive training. In the case of desonorization disorders, a necessary condition for speech therapy diagnostic and therapeutic treatment is a screening test for specific/non-specific APD and psychological tests.
