Artykuł ma charakter naukowy i powstał przy zastosowaniu metody teologiczno-prawnej. Przedmiotem wyjawiania myśli są namiętności sktalogowane przez Ewagriusza z Pontu. Praktyka została uregulowana w niektórych typikach monasterów bizantyjskich oraz w Regule świętego Benedykta.
The article is an analysis of a non-sacramental practice of verbalizing thoughts out of obedience to a master in sources of early Byzantine monasticism from St. Basil the Great to St. John Climac. The article is of a scientific nature with the use of the theological and legal method. The passions cataloged by Evagrius of Pontus are the subject of verbalizing thoughts. This practice was regulated in some types of Byzantine monasteries and in the Rule of St. Benedict.

Opis:
The paper presents a description of moral pseudonorms, which displace proper moral norms from our consciousness and action as well as distort our morality. The study analyzes mainly the pseudonorms that generate the fundamentals of legalism and their opposition – the fundamentals of moral anarchism. The first groups of pseudonorms identifies morality with civil law, especially criminal law. On the other hand the other group of pseudonorms, equates morality with what is spontaneous, impulsive, authentic.The paper analyzes not only the scope and contentrelated distortion of moral norms caused by the substitutes of morality, but it also reveals the reasons of creating the pseudo norms in our consciousness. These reasons are induced by the impact of the pride center and the concupiscent center on our value response and by preferring the extramoral values over the moral ones. Exposing the mechanism of functioning of the pseudonorms in our moral consciousness is useful not only for ethics but also for psychology and pedagogy as well as for selfeducation and moral development.

Auction theory is one of the most influential and widely studied topics in the economic theory over last fifty years. Trading rules in auctions are similar to rules in a game. Auctions might be divided into oral or written. In oral auction bidders hear each other’s bids and can make counteroffers. Each bidder knows his rivals. In written or closed auction bidders do not know how many rival bidders participate. A very important theorem in the theory of symmetric auction is the revenue equivalence theorem. This theorem predicts that expected seller revenue is independent of bidding rules. The symmetry assumption is violated in many real life auction environments and bidders often know how they differ. In practice, the auctioneer discriminates bidders in favour of selling to bidders whose values are drawn from lower distributions. Maskin and Riley (2000) showed that, when an auction is asymmetric, ”strong” buyers prefer the open auction, whereas ”weak” buyers prefer the closed auction. The revenue equivalence theorem does not concern an asymmetric auction. Every year in August at Janów Podlaski an auction of Arabian horses takes place. Our aim is to reinterpret that the Polish Arabian horse market is asymmetric.
Teoria aukcji jest jedną z prężniej rozwijających się dziedzin teorii ekonomii. Reguły aukcyjne przypominają reguły gry. Aukcje dzielimy na ustne i pisemne. W przypadku aukcji pisemnych kupujący składają swoje oferty równocześnie i niezależnie, przy czym nie wiedzą ilu mają konkurentów. W przypadku aukcji ustnych oferty wpływają sekwencyjnie, kupujący zaś mogą śledzić zachowania swoich przeciwników. Bardzo ważnym twierdzeniem dotyczącym aukcji symetrycznych jest twierdzenie mówiące, że reguły aukcyjne nie wpływają na dochód z aukcji. W praktyce założenie o symetrii okazuje się zbyt restrykcyjne i w rzeczywistości o wiele częściej mamy do czynienia z aukcjami asymetrycznymi. Maskin i Riley [2000] pokazali, że „mocny” kupujący preferuje aukcję ustną, zaś „słaby” kupujący aukcję pisemną. Pokazali również, że twierdzenie o jednakowym dochodzie nie dotyczy aukcji asymetrycznych. Co roku, w sierpniu, w Janowie Podlaskim odbywa się aukcja koni arabskich Pride of Poland. Celem pracy jest pokazanie, że jest to typowa aukcja asymetryczna.

In this article, the author wanted to show the specific for Orthodoxy – topos Her defender. As demonstratedby this topos is universal for any kind of holiness. Starting from the Martyrs ending the Hierarchs and Ascetics, inthe Orthodox Church, there is a never-ending battle for Purity of the Faith in Christ. In this paper author have shown thethree main determinants for the Fight of Faith: 1) Holy Zeal, 2) Holy Pride and 3) Holy Insubordination. To confirm histhesis the author gives some examples from the history of the Eastern Orthodox Church. At the same time author usingthe patristic and liturgical texts.

In this article, the author confronts two mash-up novels (novels, in which new motives and elements are added to the masterpieces of world’s literature) – Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith and Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters by Jane Austen and Ben H. Winters. The author shows how the new elements (zombies and sea monsters) are added to Jane Austen’s novels and underlines which elements have to be left in their original form, and which can be changed. The author also describes how the development of the new motives affects the ways of describing the world of the novel and its characters.

Drawing on the recent research ‘Dominant and demotic school culture: analysis of tensions fields’ this paper analyses found artifacts in 6 different Lithuanian secondary schools. The visual data was collected by making images of places and artifacts which were mentioned during the walks in the school territory with one teacher and one pupil afterwards. The analysis of images focuses particularly on two aspects: a) which artifacts are significant for teachers and pupils in the schools? b)  What do these artifacts mean for teachers and pupils? Therefore, the analysis is based on comparing walks among teachers and pupils in all schools. The analysis shows obvious differences on re/presented artifacts among teachers and pupils. The teachers emphasized and showed those artifacts which on one way or another represent their schools’ achievements, like pupils’ sport achievements, pupils’ artworks, and honored pupils’ displays, and were related with aspects of pride. The paper argues the possible reasons for the importance of pride in schools. Meanwhile, pupils were highlighting spaces they like to gather around during non-learning time. Pupils appreciate less visible places because it is possible to have some privacy there. As analysis shows, different sitting artifacts (chairs, sofas, beanbags) play an important role for creating such private pupils’ ‘oases’. On the other hand, such artifacts, as pupils’ artworks, information displays, and sport achievements, seem to be meaningful for pupils if they were contributing in the creation process or were mentioned in these artifacts.

Od początku lat 80. widoczny jest postęp w rozwoju technologii informacyjnej, którą bezsprzecznie stał się Internet. W ostatnim okresie zaobserwować można szczególnie ekspansywne działanie nowoczesnych technologii i ich wpływ na postrzeganie życia i ładu społecznego. Coraz większy i prężniejszy rozwój spowodował, iż socjologia społeczna zaczęła interesować się rolą techniki w życiu społecznym. Analiza literatury przedmiotu uwydatnia wzrost liczby publikacji naukowych dotyczących wpływu rozwoju technicznego na społeczeństwo. Ważnym tematem stało się badanie zagrożeń, które niesie ze sobą technika elektroniczna. Na przykład systemy socjotechniczne mogą ulegać patologii, a tym samym wywoływać zagrożenia o zbyt nadmiernym ryzyku. Obecnie krystalizuje się obraz wpływu mediów elektronicznych na politykę, gospodarkę, suwerenność państw, a także bezpieczeństwo ludzi. Szybkość, bezpośredniość, szerokość dostępu do informacji i brak możliwości pełnej kontroli powodują powstawanie społeczeństwa posiadającego określone zainteresowania, wzorce zachowań. Dobrodziejstwo dostępu do informacji niesie jednak ze sobą podstawowe i najpopularniejsze zagrożenie, mianowicie hejt. Hejt staje się obecnie etiologicznym czynnikiem wywołującym przestępstwa na tle nienawiści. W niniejszej publikacji dokonam analizy wpływu hejtu jako przejawu patologicznych zachowań w społeczeństwie.
The hate, as a manifestation of pathological behavior and the consequence of techno-logical development. Since the beginning of the 80-ties, we can watch much of progress in the development of information technology that the Internet undoubtedly has become an instance of. Especially in recent years, we can see a rather expansive expansion of modern tech-nologies and their impact on the perception of life and social order. Increasingly bigger and more robust development caused the sociology of society to take an interest in the role of technology in society life. Analyzing literature of this topic, we can enhance a great number of scientific publications on the effects of technological development on society. As an important issue we can see a study of threats which are carried by electronic equipments. It can be indicated that social engineering systems may succumb to the pathology, and thus cause menaces of too excessive risk. Currently, the image has been taking shape to show that the electronic media affect politics, economy, sovereignty of co-untries, as well as the safety of people. Speed, immediacy, width of the access to in-formation, the inability to fully control/monitor it, causes formation of the society with certain interests, and patterns of behavior. Boons of the access to information, however, bring along the basic and most common menace which is namely the hate itself. The hate is now becoming an etiological factor, evoking crimes to which the hatred gives rise. In this publication, I will anatomize the influence of the hate, as a manifestation of pathological behavior in the society.

Celem artykułu jest ukazanie dynamiki odpowiedzialności człowieka działającego. Przedstawiona analiza bierze za punkt odniesienia uwagi zarówno filozoficzno-teologiczne Johna Henry’ego Newmana, jak i świat literacki pisarza Grahama Greene’a. Zarówno Newman, jak i Greene stają w obronie odpowiedzialności i wolności człowieka. Te dwa obszary są zagrożone, bo działanie zawsze dokonuje się w jakichś okolicznościach, stąd pojawia się próba ucieczki od odpowiedzialności i wolności poprzez wskazanie na okoliczności. Tak postępują jednostki poddające się nieautentycznej egzystencji. Różne doświadczenia i stany emocjonalne mogą zwieść człowieka w jego ocenie własnego postępowania: litość, pycha, lenistwo. Ostateczną tezą tekstu jest twierdzenie, iż odpowiedzialność w swym najgłębszym znaczeniu nie jest odpowiedzią na zastaną sytuację, ale próbą przywrócenia ładu rzeczywistości.
This paper seeks to depict the dynamic nature of the acting person. The point of reference for my analysis is John Henry Newman’s philosophical and theological remarks and Graham Greene’s literary world. Both Newman and Greene defend man’s responsibility and freedom. These areas are threatened because actions are always committed under certain circumstances, therefore there is a temptation to flee from responsibility and freedom by blaming the circumstances. This kind of conduct is typical of inauthentic individuals. There are different experiences and emotional moods that may lead man astray in his evaluation of conduct: pity, pride, and laziness. Eventually, this text argues that responsibility in its most profound meaning does not respond to a given situation, but is an attempt to restore order in reality.

Le tableau des grandeurs et des folies, des exploits et des faiblesses humaines dans L’Heptaméron de Marguerite de Navarre ne saurait être complet sans l’évocation du mépris. Ce sentiment n’est jamais sujet principal des nouvelles, mais il se manifeste dans les actions et les jugements des personnages. Cette lecture du recueil met en relief avant tout le mépris comme une des marques de l’orgueil dans sa dimension nobiliaire, courtoise et évangélique.
The picture of wisdom and folly, great deeds and laughable weaknesses in Marguerite de Navarre’s Heptaméron, cannot be complete without the evocation of contempt. This feeling is never the main subject of this short stories, but he appears in the moral choices and judgments of the characters. This paper focuses above all on the contempt as one of the marks of pride in its noble, courteous and evangelical dimension.

In most individualistic cultures, pride is regarded as a positive emotion that follows a positive evaluation of one’s competence or effort when achieving a goal. Fredrickson (2001) suggests that pride may expand individuals’ scope of attention and broaden their action repertoires by driving them toward greater achievements in the future. In the present study, we show that proud individuals may search for greater achievements by stronger willingness to cooperate with agentic though immoral individuals. We demonstrate that proud participants in comparison to participants in the control condition rely to a higher degree on information on agency and respect, and less on information on morality and liking of their potential partners of cooperation.

Opis:
The aim of the paper is to compare the common and specialist linguistic conceptualization of emotions such as wstyd/shame/embarrassment and duma/pride. The point of departure is the question: What role do languages play in forming thoughts and feelings? In the main part, we describe how wstyd/shame/embarrassment and duma/pride are understood in general Polish (compared to English) and analyze the terms and ways used by psychologists and psychotherapists to portray these emotions in their works (in texts written in Polish or translated into Polish from English). In conclusion, the paper emphasizes the value of interdisciplinary cooperation between psychologists and linguists as regards research into emotions.
Celem pracy jest porównanie potocznej i specjalistycznej językowej konceptualizacji przeżyć z kategorii WSTYDU i DUMY. Punkt wyjścia stanowi pytanie o rolę języka w kształtowaniu myśli i uczuć. Część główna obejmuje opis konceptualizacji wstydu i dumy utrwalonych w polszczyźnie ogólnej (w porównaniu z językiem angielskim) oraz analizę stosowanych przez psychologów i psychoterapeutów terminów i sposobów obrazowania tych przeżyć (w tekstach pisanych po polsku lub tłumaczonych z języka angielskiego na język polski). W zakończeniu wskazano na wartość interdyscyplinarnej współpracy między psychologami i lingwistami w zakresie badań nad emocjami.

Opis:
Community is a conceptual category that originated from social sciences. However, from the cognitive and analytical point of view no universal definition of the term is available. Problems arise with respect to the definition framework of the category and ambiguity of theoretical concepts regarding the function and substantial state of community. Ideologically, it is frequently perceived as a desirable state, which makes an axiologically neutral analysis rather difficult. Studies of the National Centre for Culture Poland show that sense of community is one of the reasons why Poles celebrate their Independence Day. The article discusses the idea of community attitudes based on David B. Clark’s analysis and the results of the 2016 and 2017 surveys of Poles’ attitudes to and opinions on this holiday.
