    The article discusses selected aspects of the functioning of the Poznań and Kalisz Provincial Assembly in Środa in the times of Władysław IV (1633–1648). Such issues are addressed as the manner of convening the Assembly, its location and duration, as well as the participants of the sessions. The types and functions of the Assemblies and the preserved documentation are discussed and briefly described. The final element is an analysis of problems related to the functioning of the Assembly were analysed, which in the period under discussion were relatively few – the calm and peaceful reign of Władysław IV was conducive to political stability.

    Autorka artykułu, będąca mieszkanką Poznania, a jednocześnie zaawansowanym graczem geocachingu, podjęła próbę prezentacji powiatu poznańskiego jako obszaru, który posiada potencjał do rozwoju tej gry. Świadczą o tym tworzone w ostatnich latach trasy, jak również działania regionalnej organizacji – GEOpyry oraz nastawienie mieszkańców. Do przygotowania opracowania wykorzystano analizę literatury, źródeł internetowych związanych z geocachingiem oraz wyniki badań własnych zrealizowanych na potrzeby pracy magisterskiej za pośrednictwem kwestionariusza ankiety na próbie 355 mieszkańców powiatu poznańskiego, w okresie od października 2016 r. do marca 2017 r. 
    Currently, many Polish towns, through various organizational structures, use geocaching to promote local tourist values. This paper presents case studies of large cities, rural areas as well as valuable natural areas. The author of this article, as a resident of Poznan and an advanced geocaching player, has attempted to present the Poznań province as an area that has the potential to develop such field games. This is evidenced both by the routes created in recent years as well as by the regional organization – GEOpyra and the attitude of the inhabitants. Literature analysis, Internet sources related to geocaching and the results of our own research (conducted through a questionnaire survey on a sample of 355 inhabitants of the Poznań province from October 2016 to March 2017) were used to prepare the study.

    Opis:
    Established in 1919, the Poznań Province covered almost entirely the former Prussian Poznań Province (Provinz Posen) and initially comprised 118 cities, which decreased to 101 in 1938. On the eve of World War I, as many as 80 out of 129 cities had gas in Provinz Posen, and nearly 1/4 of them were supplied with gas from miniature gasoline gas plants. In the wake of World War I and immediately after its end, most small gasoline plants and numerous coal gas plants were shut down and eventually permanently closed down. In total, almost all gasoline and one acetylene gas plant (19 in total), as well as five coal plants, went bankrupt in the Interwar period. Of the latter type, there was a plant in Czempiń, which was shut down only around 1938, after the town was electrified. Ujście is another addition to the list, as it ceased to supply gas from Schneidemühl (Piła) in the mid-1930s. Ultimately, in 1939, gas was used in 43 out of 101 cities in the Province, which was also due to the fact that some of the gas-supplied cities had been moved to the Pomeranian Province a year before. In the Interwar period, several key factors influencing the gasworks in Greater Poland can be observed: the aforementioned liquidation of many gas plants and the transition from gas to electricity in many cities; reconstruction and relaunching of some coal gas plants; and - finally - modernization, combined with optimization of technological processes and expansion of existing gas plants. In the case of several cities, i.e. Międzychód, Nakło nad Notecią and Strzelno, the problem of communalization of plants owned by private German companies should also be noted, as well as Polish-German cooperation in terms of gas supply to the Polish Ujście gas plant from Schneidemühl (Piła).

    Badanie historii terenów, które znalazły się w dawnych granicach Prowincji Poznańskiej (1815–1918) było w okresie rozbiorów narzędziem, przy którego pomocy określano, kreowano i manipulowano samodefiniowanie się tu niemieckojęzycznych przybyszów/migrantów. Szczególnie dużo troski poświęcano ze zrozumiałych względów związkom tych terenów z pruską i niemiecką przeszłością, co miało służyć legitymacji i propagowaniu niemieckiej obecności na tym terenie. W ten sposób budowana i upowszechniana lokalna tożsamość wyrażała się instrumentalnym operowaniem przeszłością Prowincji Poznańskiej. Warto w tym kontekście odpowiedzieć na pytanie, jaką rolę odegrała polityka w przedefiniowaniu historycznego obrazu Prowincji Poznańskiej oraz w jaki sposób te „forsowane na górze“ reinterpretacje historii regionu oraz bieżące działania władzy są odbierane przez zwykłych obywateli. To jest trudne i pozostaje nadal w fazie badań. Jednak już w świetle narracji autobiograficznych można zwrócić uwagę na pewne prawidłowości. Mikrohistorie pomogą odpowiedzieć na pytanie, czy autorzy w swoich osobistych refleksjach identyfikują się z linią polityczną realizowaną przez rządzących, jak doświadczali działań państwa, jak je zapamiętali i jak o nich piszą, czyli jak współistnieją ze sobą: historia faktyczna, doświadczana i zapamiętana. 
    The study of the history of the lands which were within the old borders of the Poznań Province (1815–1918) was, during the partitions, a tool which was used to define, create and manipulate self-defining of German speaking newcomers/migrants. A lot of attention was paid, for obvious reasons, to relations of these lands with the Prussian and German past, which was to legitimize and promote the German presence in this area. The local identity, built and spread in this way was expressed by an instrumental use of the past of the Poznań Province. It is worth answering a question about the role of politics in re-defining a historical view of the Poznan Province and the ways in which the ‘imposed’ reinterpretations of the region’s history and current actions of the authority were perceived by ordinary citizens. It is difficult and still being researched. However, certain regularities can be noticed in the light of autobiographical narration. Micro-stories can help to answer the question whether the authors in their personal reflections identified themselves with the political line of the rulers, how they experienced and remembered the actions of the state, how they remembered and wrote about them, in other words, how actual, experienced and remembered histories coexist.
