Opis:
In this paper, the secure low-power Internet of Things (IoT) transmission methods for encryption and digital signature are presented. The main goal was to develop energyefficient method to provide IoT devices with data confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity. The cryptograph energy efficient and security algorithms modifications for IoT domain were made. The novelty in our solution is the usage of encryption method popular in the image processing in the domain of the Internet of Things. Proposed modification improves immunity for the brute-force and plain-text attacks. Furthermore, we propose the modifications for hash calculation method to transform it into digital signature calculation method that is very sensitive to input parameters. The results indicate low energy consumption of both methods, however it varies significantly depending on the architecture of the devices.

Achieving optimal utilization of multiple combined heat and power (CHP) systems is a complex problem that requires powerful methods for resolution. This paper presents a harmony search (HS) algorithm to address the economic dispatch issue in CHP (CHPED ). The recently developed metaheuristic HS algorithm has been successfully employed in a wide range of optimization problems. The method is demonstrated through a test case from existing literature and a new one proposed by the authors. Numerical results indicate that the proposed algorithm can identify superior solutions compared to traditional methods, and that the Harmony Search algorithm can be effectively applied to CHPED-related problems.

Opis:
At present, the back-propagation (BP) network algorithm widely used in the short-term output prediction of photovoltaic power stations has the disadvantage of ignoring meteorological factors and weather conditions in the input. The existing traditional BP prediction model lacks a variety of numerical optimization algorithms, such that the prediction error is large. The back-propagation (BP) neural network is easy to fall into local optimization thus reducing the prediction accuracy in photovoltaic power prediction. In order to solve this problem, an improved grey wolf optimization (GWO) algorithm is proposed to optimize the photovoltaic power prediction model of the BP neural network. So, an improved grey wolf optimization algorithm optimized BP neural network for a photovoltaic (PV) power prediction model is proposed. Dynamic weight strategy, tent mapping and particle swarm optimization (PSO) are introduced in the standard grey wolf optimization (GWO) to construct the PSO–GWO model. The relative error of the PSO–GWO–BP model predicted data is less than that of the BP model predicted data. The average relative error of PSO–GWO–BP and GWO–BP models is smaller, the average relative error of PSO–GWO–BP model is the smallest, and the prediction stability of the PSO–GWO–BP model is the best. The model stability and prediction accuracy of PSO–GWO–BP are better than those of GWO–BP and BP.

This paper proposes a power system stabilizer (PSS) with optimal controller parameters for damping low-frequency power oscillations in the power system. A novel meta-heuristic, weighted grey wolf optimizer (GWO) has been proposed, it is a variant of the grey wolf optimizer (GWO). The proposed WGWO algorithm has been executed in the selection of controller parameters of a PSS in a multi-area power system. A two-area four- machine test system has been considered for the performance evaluation of an optimally tuned PSS. A multi-objective function based on system eigenvalues has been minimized for obtained optimal controller parameters. The damping characteristics and eigenvalue location in the proposed approach have been compared with the other state-of-the-art- methods, which illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to elaborate new calculation schemes for evaluating the strength parameters of railway rolling stock parts with non-local properties of surface layers in the presence of elliptical stress concentrators. Design/methodology/approach: Using the proposed approaches of developed mathematical modelling and open software for calculating FEniCS, it were established the most dangerous angles of stress concentrator orientation and the required thickness of the hardened zones of parts, which ensures their minimum softening during operation. Findings: It is shown that for an elliptical stress concentrator with any orientation angle, there is a certain key size of surface hardening thickness, the exceeding the value of which does not have influence on the operational strength of the parts, but rise the price of technological operations. Research limitations/implications: In this paper proposes a method for computation the impact of the orientation of the surface elliptical stress concentrators on the contact strength of parts under conditions of dominate friction power loads. Practical implications: The obtained results were used to set the modes of plasma hardening, which increase the contact strength of railway parts with elliptical stress concentrators. Originality/value: Using the approaches of contact mechanics, mathematical and computer modelling, methods of controlling the contact strength of the parts with the surface elliptical stress concentrators were proposed for the first time.

Opis:
The electrical grid integration takes great attention because of the increasing population in the nonlinear load connected to the power distribution system. This manuscript deals with the power quality issues and mitigations associated with the electrical grid. The proposed single comprehensive artificial neural network (SCANN) controller with unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) is modelled in MATLAB Simulink environment. It provides series and shunt compensation that helps mitigate voltage and current distortion at the end of the distribution system. Initially, four proportional integral (PI) controllers are used to control the UPQC. Later the trained SCANN controller replaces four PI Controllers for better control action. PI and SCANN controllers’ simulation results are compared to find the optimal solutions. A prototype model of SCANN controller is constructed and tested. The test results show that the SCANN based UPQC maintains grid voltage and current magnitude within permissible limits under fluctuating conditions.

To confront climate change, decarbonization strategies must change the global economy. According to statements made as part of the European Green Deal, maritime transport should also become drastically less polluting. As a result, the price of transport must reflect the impact it has on the environment and on health. In such a framework, the purpose of this paper is to suggest a novel method for minimizing emissions from ships, based on so-called Pareto multi-objective optimization. For a given voyage by a ship, the problem is to minimize emissions on the one hand and minimize fuel consumption or passage time on the other. Minimizing emissions is considered as the preferred objective. Therefore, the objective of minimizing fuel consumption or passage time needs to be reformulated as a constraint. Solving such a problem consists of finding most favourable path and speed for the ship and satisfying the optimization criteria. Relatively new systems such as hybrid diesel–electric systems have the potential to offer significant emissions benefits. A hybrid power supply utilizes the maximum efficiency of the direct mechanical drive and the flexibility of a combination of combustion power from the prime mover and stored power from energy storage from an electrical supply, at part load and overload. A new report by the American Bureau of Shipping suggests that maritime transport is likely to meet the International Maritime Organization’s target by 2030, solely by using current technology and operational measures. However, this would not be enough to attain the target of reducing CO2 emissions by 2050 by at least 50% compared to 2008. New technologies and operational methods must be applied.

The buried metallic pipeline which parallels to the HV power line is subject to induced voltages from the AC currents flowing in the conductors, these voltages can affect the operating personnel, pipeline associated equipment, and the pipeline integrity. This paper analyses the induced voltage and current on the buried pipeline running parallel to HV power lines. It also presents an optimization procedure of different parameters that affect the level of the induced voltage in the pipeline during normal operating conditions. A comparison study between the proposed optimization algorithms (GOA, GE, DE and PSO) is done with a maximization of a given objective function. The simulation results establish that the GOA algorithm provides a faster convergence and better solution than the other optimization algorithms. Thus, the statistical analysis according to Friedman’s rank test confirmed the superiority of this proposed algorithm. Furthermore, the results show that the parameters optimization of the metallic pipeline is an effective approach to provide the best performance for mitigation which is generally sufficient to reduce the induced voltage experienced by the buried metallic pipeline to enforce the safety limit.

The hybridization of a recently suggested Harris hawk’s optimizer (HHO) with the traditional particle swarm optimization (PSO) has been proposed in this paper. The velocity function update in each iteration of the PSO technique has been adopted to avoid being trapped into local search space with HHO. The performance of the proposed Integrated HHO-PSO (IHHOPSO) is evaluated using 23 benchmark functions and compared with the novel algorithms and hybrid versions of the neighbouring standard algorithms. Statistical analysis with the proposed algorithm is presented, and the effectiveness is shown in the comparison of grey wolf optimization (GWO), Harris hawks optimizer (HHO), barnacles matting optimization (BMO) and hybrid GWO-PSO algorithms. Smart Grid is a concept for transforming the electric power grid by using advanced automatic control and communications techniques and other forms of information technology. It integrates innovative tools and technologies from: generation, transmission and distribution. This also includes consumer appliances and equipment. This concept integrates energy infrastructure, processes, devices, information and markets into a coordinated and collaborative process. All allowing energy to be generated, distributed and consumed flexibly and efficiently. However, the Smart Grid with the integration of distributed generation itself also creates a several disadvantages. There can be problems with: stability and reliability, relay protection, isolation and operational isolation in which the problem is to create a burden on the distribution grid when transmitting electrical energy sources. Optimizing power flow and bringing high operating efficiency on Smart Grid conditions is an urgent issue. This paper focuses on researching and proposing solutions for optimal calculation of power flow on Smart Grid. The paper has researched, and analyzed calculation solutions to optimize power flow and proposed to use the Lagrange multiplier method. The study performed calculations for a typical Smart Grid model with three distributed generations. Calculation results have shown that the role of the method is to fully perform the optimal calculation of the power flow on the grid. This is in order to reduce power loss and energy loss as well as increasing operational efficiency while improving power quality in Smart Grid conditions.
