This work presents an ultra-low power oscillator designed to target different contexts, such as crystal-assisted timekeeping, reference oscillator to optimize the always on domain of a microcontroller or wake-up timer. This oscillator enables ultralow power operation in 0.18 μm CMOS technology; the core oscillator consumes 2.5 nW at room temperature, with a temperature stability of 14 ppm/°C [-40°C - 60°C] and 0.07 %/V supply sensitivity.

This paper presents the resolution of the optimal reactive power dispatch (ORPD) problem and the control of voltages in an electrical energy system by using a hybrid algorithm based on the particle swarmoptimization (PSO) method and interior point method (IPM). The IPM is based on the logarithmic barrier (LB-IPM) technique while respecting the non-linear equality and inequality constraints. The particle swarmoptimization-logarithmic barrier-interior point method (PSO-LB-IPM) is used to adjust the control variables, namely the reactive powers, the generator voltages and the load controllers of the transformers, in order to ensure convergence towards a better solution with the probability of reaching the global optimum. The proposed method was first tested and validated on a two-variable mathematical function using MATLAB as a calculation and execution tool, and then it is applied to the ORPD problem to minimize the total active losses in an electrical energy network. To validate the method a testwas carried out on the IEEE electrical energy network of 57 buses.

The paper is devoted to some problems of multi-coil wireless power transfer (MC-WPT) systems. It is well known that the effective gap for MC-WPT systems can be extended for relatively long distances preserving high efficiency. The paper is organized as follows. In Section 2, the system is described by a matrix model. This model is prepared to determine system properties. In Section 3, the optimization procedure which allows improving the system performance at the desired operating point is introduced. Section 4 contains the results of experimental verification. Moreover, the paper presents an interesting phenomenon of the current unbalance among the system coils.

Opis:
Monitoring wind energy production is fundamental to improve the performances of a wind farm during the operational phase. In order to perform reliable operational analysis, data mining of all available information spreading out from turbine control systems is required. In this work a SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) data analysis was performed on a small wind farm and new post-processing methods are proposed for condition monitoring of the aerogenerators. Indicators are defined to detect the malfunctioning of a wind turbine and to select meaningful data to investigate the causes of the anomalous behaviour of a turbine. The operating state database is used to collect information about the proper power production of a wind turbine and a number map has been codified for converting the performance analysis problem into a purely numerical one. Statistical analysis on the number map clearly helps in detecting operational anomalies, providing diagnosis for their reasons. The most operationally stressed turbines are systematically detected through the proposal of two Malfunctioning Indices. Results demonstrate that a proper selection of the SCADA data can be very useful to measure the real performances of a wind farm and thus to define optimal repair/replacement and preventive maintenance policies that play a major role in case of energy production.

Nowadays, there is a need for charging electric vehicles (EVs) wirelessly, since it provides a more convenient, reliable, and safer charging option for the EV customers. A wireless charging system using a double-sided LCC compensation topology is proven to be highly efficient; however, the large volume induced by the compensation coils is a drawback. Endocrine links are more useful in transmitting power wirelessly than other links. These links are used in the transmission of low and medium power. In this paper, by analyzing the equivalent circuit of a WPT power transmission system, the optimal value of the inductance was formulated to increase the yield. This can have other applications. In order to neutralize the reactive losses, the series resonance is used in both in primary and secondary sections, among which the lower quantities of series inductors were selected from the initial values to increase the efficiency and power. Furthermore, it is possible to optimize these values using suitable optimization methods. In this study, the PSO algorithm was used for this purpose.

This paper proposes a power system stabilizer (PSS) with optimal controller parameters for damping low-frequency power oscillations in the power system. A novel meta-heuristic, weighted grey wolf optimizer (GWO) has been proposed, it is a variant of the grey wolf optimizer (GWO). The proposed WGWO algorithm has been executed in the selection of controller parameters of a PSS in a multi-area power system. A two-area four- machine test system has been considered for the performance evaluation of an optimally tuned PSS. A multi-objective function based on system eigenvalues has been minimized for obtained optimal controller parameters. The damping characteristics and eigenvalue location in the proposed approach have been compared with the other state-of-the-art- methods, which illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

In this paper Merchant Optimization Algorithm (MOA) is proposed to solve the optimal reactive power problem. Projected algorithm is modeled based on the behavior of merchants who gain in the market through various mode and operations. Grouping of the traders will be done based on their specific properties, and by number of candidate solution will be computed to individual merchant. First Group named as “Ruler candidate solution” afterwards its variable values are dispersed to the one more candidate solution and it named as “Serf candidate solution” In standard IEEE 14, 30, 57 bus test systems Merchant Optimization Algorithm (MOA) have been evaluated. Results show the proposed algorithm reduced power loss effectively.

This research presents a comparative study for maximum power point tracking (MPPT) methodologies for a photovoltaic (PV) system. A novel hybrid algorithm golden section search assisted perturb and observe (GSS-PO) is proposed to solve the problems of the conventional PO (CPO). The aim of this new methodology is to boost the efficiency of the CPO. The new algorithm has a very low convergence time and a very high efficiency. GSS-PO is compared with the intelligent nature-inspired multi-verse optimization (MVO) algorithm by a simulation validation. The simulation study reveals that the novel GSS- PO outperforms MVO under uniform irradiance conditions and under a sudden change in irradiance.

The significant problem of compensator placement and sizing in electrical networks has been analyzed in the paper. The compensation is usually realized by means of passive or active power filters. The former solution is widely used mainly because of the economical reasons, but the latter one becomes more and more popular as the number of nonlinear loads increases. Regardless of the compensator type the most important goal consists in voltage and current distortion drop below levels imposed by standards. Nevertheless, the desired effects should be achieved with the minimum cost. So far a few objective functions have been proposed for this optimization problem. It is claimed that minimization of the compensator currents leads also to the minimum costs. This paper shows that such simplified approach could lead to suboptimal solutions and in fact a function g(·) reflecting the relation between the compensator size and its price must be incorporated into objective functions. Moreover, in this case it is very easy to compare solutions obtained using compensators offered by different suppliers - it is enough to change the function g(·). Theoretical considerations have been illustrated by an example of active power filter allocation and sizing.

In this paper Feral Cat Swarm Optimization (FCS) Algorithm is proposed to solve optimal reactive power problem. Projected methodology has been modeled based on the activities of the feral cats. They have two main phases primarily “seeking mode”, “tracing mode”. In the proposed FCS algorithm, population of feral cats are created and arbitrarily scattered in the solution space, with every feral cat representing a solution. Produced population is alienated into two subgroups. One group will observe their surroundings which come under the seeking mode and another group moving towards the prey which will come under the tracing mode. New-fangled positions, fitness functions will be calculated subsequent to categorization of feral cats for seeking mode and tracing mode, through that cat with the most excellent solution will be accumulated in the memory. Feral Cat Swarm Optimization (FCS) Algorithm has been tested in standard IEEE 30 bus test system and simulation results show the projected algorithm reduced the real power loss considerably.

Active-adaptive system of electric power system (EPS) modes control, using its ideal (“economic”) mode is suggested. The process of optimal control is constructed in such a manner that EPS current mode by means of control facilities approaches to “economic” mode. Direction, change of EPS current mode parameters are realized for its improvement and they are determined according to the least action principle (LAP). System of automatic control performs optimization actions in the direction, set by LAP, changing parameters of regulation facilities and controlls limitations of EPS mode parameters.

W artykule dokonano analizy energetycznej oraz ekonomicznej dotyczącej zastosowania systemów fotowoltaicznych w budynkach jednorodzinnych. Rozpatrzono systemy zapewniające różny stopień zaspokojenia całkowitego zapotrzebowania na energię elektryczną. W rozważaniach uwzględniono aktualne przepisy dotyczące budowy mikroinstalacji oraz warunki ich podłączania do sieci elektroenergetycznej. Następnie oceniono sześć różnych wariantów systemów fotowoltaicznych na podstawie kryteriów ekonomicznych: kosztów inwestycyjnych i eksploatacyjnych, a także emisji CO2 (w wyniku produkcji energii elektrycznej z nieodnawialnych źródeł energii).
This paper analyses the economic and energy aspects of the application of photovoltaic systems in single-family houses. Considered systems are supposed to cover the total demand for electricity in different level. The discussion concerns the current regulations taking into consideration the construction of micro-installations and their connection to the grid. Then also are evaluated various options for photovoltaic systems based on economic criteria: investment and operating costs as well as CO2 emissions from the production of electricity from non-renewable energy sources.

W artykule poruszono tematykę wykorzystania mocy zainstalowanej elektrowni okrętowej zbiornikowców LNG jako jednego z głównych czynników wpływających na efektywność wykonania zadania transportowego statku. Autorzy podjęli próbę oceny energochłonności stanów eksploatacyjnych w jakich znajduje się wspomniany rodzaj statku z turbinowym napędem parowym. Na podstawie obciążeń szczytowych, otrzymanych w wyniku obserwacji dokonanych na zbiornikowcu LNG o pojemności 138 tys. m³, dokonano oceny wykorzystania mocy zainstalowanego okrętowego systemu elektroenergetycznego i zaproponowano dwa warianty rozwiązań konfiguracji elektrowni, mającej na celu poprawienie efektywności wykorzystania wyprodukowanej na statku energii elektrycznej.
The article describes power use of LNG carrier power plant, as one of the main parts affecting the transport task achievement. Authors attempted to evaluate the energy consumption of the vessel with turbine steam dive in different ship operational conditions. Based on maximum peak loads, got in observations of LNG carrier with capacity of 138 000 m³, authors made an assessment of power use in marine power system. They proposed two ways of solution for power plant configuration which aim is to improve an efficiency of using electricity produced on the ship.

The subject of this work is optimization of outputs of L-band high power microwave tubes. These outputs are constructed as coaxial-to-waveguide transitions with a vacuum barrier in a form of glass or ceramic cup. The goal of optimization is to obtain sufficiently low reflection loss in the predefined frequency band and to avoid so called hot spots caused by excessive dissipation of microwave power in parts of the cup. Electromagnetic simulator has been applied to model the behavior of the optimized transition and to propose its optimum shape. The proposed solutions were verified by Z.E. Lamina SA in prototypes of high power (pulsed 600 kW) amplitrons and are to be used in manufacturing practice.

The paper presents analysis of optimisation results of power system stabilizer (PSS) parameters when taking into account the uncertainty of mathematical model parameters of the power system (PS) elements. The Pareto optimisation was used for optimisation of the system stabilizer parameters. Parameters of five stabilizers of PSS3B type were determined in optimisation process with use of a genetic algorithm with tournament selection. The results obtained were assessed from the point of view of selecting the criterion function. The analysis of influence of the parameter uncertainty on the quality of the results obtained was performed.
