Opis:
The Port of Jeddah (Port) released the initial version of this Strategic Plan in 2006. It was developed by Port staff, along with input, as a five-year rolling plan designed to guide the Port’s future development while keeping in mind the needs of our tenants, local community members and stakeholders, and the nation. This is the second update to the Strategic Plan since its initial release. While the Port’s overarching principles – commitment to environmental stewardship, addressing tenant needs, goods movement, economic development, and security – have remained largely unchanged, it is important for us to adapt our strategies to meet the challenges of an ever changing local and global environment. The Port is among the world’s premier ports and is a critical hub for global trade. This prominence brings with it responsibilities and expectations for the highest possible standards for efficiency, safety and security, and environmental leadership. The Port is the nation’s busiest container port and part of the world’s busiest port complex, handling 3.7 million twenty-foot equivalent units in 2013. Global trade and goods movement is Western kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s strongest industries in terms of jobs and economic activity. The Port of Jeddah powers these industries, handling almost more than a quarter of the cargo that enters the kingdom of Saudi Arabia annually. Through the Port’s activities, a lot of jobs are created in western kingdom of Saudi Arabia and over five hundred thousand nationwide. In order to maintain our position among the world’ the kingdom of Saudi Arabia premier ports, the Port is continually addressing the demands for providing modern and efficient cargo handling terminals as well as transportation and infrastructure projects. Protecting one of the nation’s most vital economic hubs is also an ongoing challenge. Finally, promoting a sustainable “grow green” philosophy and ensuring that we are the leader among ports in promoting environmental stewardship is a strategic objective of the Port. A strategic plan is a management tool used to improve the performance of an organization and outlines the organization’s direction and priorities. This plan identifies the Port’s twelve strategic objectives for the next five years. Each of the objectives identifies a series of an act or strategy intended to resolve a difficulty or improve a situation; a fresh approach to something that the Port will undertake to accomplish that objective. While these objectives are organization-focused and require the coordination of resources throughout the Port, each one will be championed by a bureau, and the divisions within that bureau, as this paper will contain.

Opis:
The following article presents a comparative analysis of the operation of Polish ports in the Tri-City as well as the characteristics of the most prosperous Chinese ports. The comparison of such unreasonably different size ports aims at directing Polish ports to development opportunities in order to achieve trans-shipment and development growth. The change in how cargo management in an area remote from the port affects the work of the city and the port itself may suggest changes in the management of the current situation.

Opis:
Wind generated surface waves were measured at V2 station (φ=43°29.3’ N; λ=16° 27.9’ E) in the Brački Kanal Channel area of the Middle Adriatic, in front of the port of Split. This was undertaken in the time interval from November 2007 to June 2008, by using Datawell MKIII waverider with all its compo-nents. For the analysis and description of extreme sea states maximum recorded wave height Hmax and sig-nificant wave height H1/3 were presented as well as associated wave spectra. The measurement results show that much larger waves appear in the open Adriatic compared to the Middle Adriatic channel area. Numerical modelling of wave generation in the Brački Kanal Channel area and wider island area of the Middle Adriatic Sea was performed by using Mike 21/SW numerical model. Wind field used for the forcing in numerical simulations relies on the results of the prognostic atmospheric model Aladin-CRO. For verification of model results, results of measurement at a waverider station V2 located in front of the port of Split were used. It was concluded that measured and modelled significant wave heights were very well matched.

Opis:
Organization of the dredging works is a multi-faceted issue. The management of the dredging process varies according to the location and it mostly depends on local conditions (Żak, 2014). The paper presents the results of the expert survey which was structured on a questionnaire concerning the dredging techniques in harbours. Respondents, that take part in the research, were experts from different nations, working at the management levels in the enterprises associated with the dredging branch. The aim of the proposed research was to support the selection of the appropriate dredger, the preparation of optimal work technology and the verification of strategic decisions affecting entire project. Taking everything into consideration the author proposes to use the expert survey as a technique to support the decision-making process. It enables to take advantage of the wide knowledge and experience of experts to create the most suitable dredging project.

Opis:
Referat dotyczy problematyki i metodologii rozwoju lotnisk w aspekcie ochrony środowiska. W drugim przedstawiono trzy programy obliczeniowej symulacji emisji lotniczych: EDMS, ALAQS i ADMS. Wnioski z zastosowania programu ALAQS (Airport Local Air Quality System-ArcView) do obliczeń emisji lotniskowych na warszawskim lotnisku Fryderyka CHOPINA zawarto w rozdziale trzecim. Projekt ten został zrealizowany przez Instytut Lotnictwa we współpracy z Przedsiębiorstwem „Porty Lotnicze” oraz EUROCONTROL Experimental Centre. Jego wyniki przekazano do sieci AERONET III (Aircraft Emissions and Reduction Technologies).
This paper is concerned with airport sustainable development. Intensive air transport increase (except crisis of 2009) necessitates „balancing” its negative impact by pro-ecological measures. „State of the art” first chapter is concerned with the relation between air transport and aero-engine exhaust gases pollution. Next chapter is dedicated to the most popular programmes for calculation of airport pollutant emissions and their dispersion: American EDMS – Emissions and Dispersion Modelling System, European ALAQS-AV – Airport Local Air Quality System-ArcView and British ADMS. The second programme was used to assess air contamination by Warsaw F. Chopin Airport activity, which is described in subsequent chapter. It was done in 2005 thanks to EUROCONTROL sponsoring, as a Polish contribution to the AERONET III (Aircraft Emissions and Reduction Technologies) network, Institute of Aviation is part of in years from 2004 till 2010. The results were presented and discussed at this network Workshops. It is planned to complement well functioning noise monitoring at F. Chopin airport by installation of local air quality measuring infrastructure. Pollutant dispersion calculation shall be executed by introducing meteorological data to the extension of ALAQS programme. Implementing the best available practices and procedures would serve as an example for other important Polish airports.

The United Kingdom is well-placed to become the first country to provide a hub for low cost launch of small satellites in Europe. British government wants to see in the country spaceports enabling the launch of small satellites as well as sub-orbital spaceflights and scientific experiments. Draft Spaceflight Bill was prepared so as to create a safe, competitive and sustainable commercial spaceflight market in the UK. Three kinds of licence were described in the Draft: operator licence, spaceport licence and range control licence. Carrying out spaceflight activities is the main duty of a holder of the operator licence and operating a spaceport is the main duty of a holder of the spaceport licence. A holder of the spaceport licence may make byelaws regulating the use and operation of the spaceport and conduct of persons within it. Any kind of the licence can be revoked, varied or suspended.
