Artykuł ma na celu wskazanie konieczności nauczania, głównie na akademickich kursach języka polskiego jako obcego, wypowiedzi reprezentujących polskie gatunki akademickie. Dużą grupę uczących się stanowią kandydaci na studia i studenci-cudzoziemcy, zdobywający wykształcenie wyższe w Polsce. Będąc częścią polskiej wspólnoty akademickiej powinni być dobrze przygotowani do recepcji i produkcji gatunków wypowiedzi stosowanych w dyskursie akademickim. W artykule przedstawiona została genologiczna analiza artykułu naukowego, będącego podstawowym gatunkiem w tym dyskursie. Uwzględniając obowiązujące w tym zakresie przepisy i zalecenia z odnośnych poradników, przedstawiono opis gatunku w oparciu o teorię gatunku Johna Swalesa i koncepcję wzorca gatunkowego Marii Wojtak. Autorka zachęca, by glottodydaktycy polonistyczni zwracali uwagę uczących się na wszystkie aspekty wzorca: strukturalny, pragmatyczny, poznawczy i językowy, a także pokazywali różne warianty gatunku: jego postać kanoniczną oraz warianty alternacyjne i adaptacyjne. Mimo dużej unifikacji wypowiedzi, należy podkreślać kulturowe uwarunkowania i wykładniki gatunkowe. 
The article aims to emphasise the teaching of utterances representing Polish academic genres, mainly on academic courses of Polish as a foreign language. A large group of learners consists of candidates to Polish universities and foreign students pursuing education in Poland. Being part of the Polish academic community they should be well prepared for the reception and production of genres of speech used in academic discourse. The article presents a genological analysis of a scientific article constituting the basic genre in this discourse. Considering the binding regulations and recommendations included in appropriate textbooks, the author proposes a description of the genre based on the genre theory of John Swales and the concept of the genre pattern of Maria Wojtak. The author recommends teachers of Polish as a foreign language to focus their students’ attention on all aspects of the pattern: structural, pragmatic, cognitive and linguistic, and also show them different variants of the genre: its canonic as well as alternative and adaptive forms. In spite of the high uniformity of utterances, the cultural environment and exponents of the genre should be highlighted.

The aim of the article is to analyze Polish and Russian speech acts of invitation sent on postcards in the second half of the 20th century. Although invitations have been the subject of considerable linguistic interest so far, speech acts of invitation observed in postcard messages per se have not been studied yet. The study concerns the location of speech acts of invitation in the structure of postcard messages, their formal and pragmatic features, as well as their pre- and postpositional context. The analysis proves that speech acts of invitation usually serve as an additional element of the Polish messages, while the Russian invitations occupy more central positions. It has also been shown that direct speech acts of invitation are rarely found in both languages. In contrast, indirect speech acts of invitation are utilized more frequently and they commonly take on the form of sentences with imperative verb forms.
Целью настоящей статьи является представление польско- и русскоязычных речевых актов приглашения, пересылаемых на открытках во второй половине ХХ века. Несмотря на то, что приглашения были предметом лингвистического изучения, речевые акты приглашения, наблюдаемые в текстах, написанных на открытках, до сих пор не рассматривались. В статье исследуется место речевых актов приглашения в структуре текста, их прагмалингвистические и формальные особенности, а также их пре- и постпозитивный контекст. Анализ показывает, что речевые акты приглашения обычно служат дополнительным элементом польских текстов, в то время как русские приглашения занимают более центральное место. Кроме того, исследование выявило, что прямые речевые акты приглашения редко встречаются в обоих языках. В свою очередь, косвенные речевые акты приглашения используются чаще и обычно имеют форму предложений с повелительным наклонением.
Celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza polsko- i rosyjskojęzycznych aktów zaproszeń przesyłanych na kartach pocztowych w drugiej połowie XX w. Problematyka ta stanowiła dotąd obiekt zainteresowania językoznawców, jednak nie badano aktów zaproszeń spotykanych stricte w treści wiadomości przesyłanych na kartach pocztowych. Omawiane badanie dotyczy umiejscowienia aktów zaproszeń w strukturze wiadomości, ich cech formalno- i pragmatycznojęzykowych oraz innych aktów, które obudowują je w kontekście pre- i postpozycyjnym. Przeprowadzona analiza dowodzi m.in., że zaproszenie z reguły stanowi dla Polaków dodatkowy element tekstu, podczas gdy Rosjanie preferują umieszczanie aktów zaproszeń w bezpośredniej bliskości centrum wiadomości. Poza tym wykazano, że akty bezpośrednie są rzadko spotykane w tekstach pisanych w obu językach, zdecydowanie częściej stosowane są akty pośrednie, zazwyczaj przybierające formę zdań z orzeczeniem w formie rozkaźnika.

The article is devoted to the analysis of the ways of expressing the speech act of approval in Polish, Russian and English. The material has been gathered from corpora, and only the examples have been taken into consideration where the phrase uttered by a speaker is introduced in the narration part as approval. This method of collecting material gives the opportunity to avoid misunderstanding in the process of the interpretation of the speaker’s intentions. It occurs that approval introduced in the narrative part of a text is more often nonverbal in Polish and English materials. The lexical markers of the speech act under investigation display a considerable number of similarities between Polish, Russian and English examples. The utterances are usually stylistically neutral and they are generally simple in structure.
Artykuł poświęcony jest analizie sposobów wyrażenia aktu mowy aprobaty w języku polskim, rosyjskim i angielskim. Materiał pochodzi z korpusów badanych języków, i obejmuje przypadki, gdy wypowiedź nadawcy jest zapowiedziana w części narracyjnej tekstu jako aprobata. Dzięki zastosowaniu tej metody zbierania materiału można uniknąć wątpliwości związanych z procesem interpretacji intencji nadawcy wypowiedzi.

Das Ziel des Beitrages ist es, auf die Spezifik des Argumentierens in den Gedenkreden, die sich auf grenzübergreifende, hier die deutsch‑polnische Versöhnung beziehen, einzugehen. Es werden in der Arbeit zwei Gedenkreden analysiert, die am 20. November 2014 anlässlich des 25. Jahrestages der deutsch‑polnischen Versöhnungsmesse in Kreisau/Krzyżowa von der deutschen sowie der polnischen Regierungschefin gehalten wurden. Im Mittelpunkt steht die Frage, wie die Versöhnungsmesse als Ereignis in beiden Reden sprachlich konzeptualisiert und argumentativ funktionalisiert wurde.
The aim of the article is to address the specific characteristics of argumentation in commemorative speeches that refer to cross‑border reconciliation (here: the German‑Polish case). The paper analyses two commemorative speeches given by the German and Polish heads of government on 20th November 2014 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the German‑Polish reconciliation mass in Kreisau/Krzyżowa. The central question is how the reconciliation mass as an event was conceptualized linguistically and functionalised argumentatively in both speeches.

The paper discusses several methods of evaluating heritage speakers’ abilities in their heritage language. Speech rate in spontaneous text production, lexical knowledge and grammatical proficiency in the heritage language have been found to correlate strongly with one another. Therefore, they are recommended in the literature as quick and reliable diagnostics for establishing the general degree of heritage language maintenance among heritage speakers. Based on data from 20 heritage speakers of Polish in Germany, the current paper shows that lexical and grammatical proficiency are indeed strongly correlated, but speech rate did not turn out to be an indicator for heritage language proficiency in the examined population.

The point of departure for the following study is Patel and Daniele (2003), who suggested that the rhythm of a culture’s language is reflected in its instrumental music. The former study used the normalised pairwise variability index (henceforth nPVI), a measure of temporal patterning in speech, to compare the variability of vocalic duration in recorded speech samples with the variability of note duration in music notation on the example of English and French speech and classical music. The aim of this experiment is to test whether the linguistic rhythm conventionalised in the language of a community affects the rhythm in the musical practice of that community, by focusing on English and Polish speech and classical, as well as folk music. The nPVI values were obtained from a set of English and Polish recorded news-like sentences, and from musical notation of English and Polish classical and folk musical themes. The results suggest that reflections of Polish speech rhythm may be more apparent in folk music than in classical music, though more data are needed to test this idea. This initial study suggests that the method used might bring more fruitful results when comparing speech rhythm with less formalized and more traditional musical themes.

The aim of this study was to create a single-language counterpart of the International Speech Test Signal (ISTS) and to compare both with respect to their acoustical characteristics. The development procedure of the Polish Speech Test Signal (PSTS) was analogous to the one of ISTS. The main difference was that instead of multi-lingual recordings, speech recordings of five Polish speakers were used. The recordings were cut into 100-600 ms long segments and composed into one-minute long signal, obeying a set of composition rules, imposed mainly to preserve a natural, speech-like features of the signal. Analyses revealed some differences between ISTS and PSTS. The latter has about twice as high volume of voiceless fragments of speech. PSTS’s sound pressure levels in 1/3-octave bands resemble the shape of the Polish long-term average female speech spectrum, having distinctive maxima at 3-4 and 8-10 kHz which ISTS lacks. As PSTS is representative of Polish language and contains inputs from multiple speakers, it can potentially find an application as a standardized signal used during the procedure of fitting hearing aids for patients that use Polish as their main language.

The article describes how to use the competence of a speech therapist in teaching Polish as a foreign language (especially at the early stage of the glottodidactic process). Teaching pronunciation is an integral element of teaching Polish as a foreign language and according to the authors of the article, it can be more effective if the following issues are taken into consideration: diagnosis of speech disorders (including efficiency of speech organs and phonemic hearing) and an efficient therapy. Such an approach is advised in the case of students: 1. who have no biological deficits, however have problems learning correct pronunciation; 2. who have speech defects; or 3. whose pronunciation in a learnt language is influenced by speech therapy.

W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono działalność parlamentarną ks. Jana Czuja jako posła na Sejm RP w latach 1922–1935 z ramienia Polskiego Stronnictwa Katolicko-Ludowego. Skupiono się głównie na omówieniu poszczególnych form jego aktywności na forum izby, przejawiającej się w przemówieniach sejmowych oraz składaniu podpisu pod wnioskami poselskimi i interpelacjami. Opierając się na analizie źródeł parlamentarnych w postaci sprawozdań stenograficznych z posiedzeń sejmu, druków sejmowych i tekstów interpelacji, przybliżono zakres tematów i zagadnień, wokół których ogniskowała się aktywność parlamentarna ks. J. Czuja. Oszacowano również skalę tej aktywności, co doprowadziło do konstatacji, że w trakcie swej trzynastoletniej obecności w parlamencie należał on raczej do grona posłów mało aktywnych.
The article presents the parliamentary activity of Fr. Jan Czuj as a deputy to the Sejm of the Republic of Poland in the years 1922–1935 on behalf of the Polish Catholic-People’s Party. The main goal of this paper is to show various forms of his activity in the parliament which was especially parliamentary speeches and signing of the legislative proposals and interpellations. The main topics of the Fr. Jan Czuj’s interests during his career in the parliament are shown through the analysis of the parliamentary sources which are stenographic records, documents and interpellations. Also, his activity as a member of parliament is evaluated which leads to the conclusion that during the thirteen years of his presence in the lower house of the Polish legislature, he was not a very diligent deputy.

The article presents an analysis of the closing formulae used in Polish and Russian letters written on postcards in the second half of the twentieth century and at the beginning of the twenty-first century. The study aims to characterize and compare the structure and pragmatic characteristics of this component of the epistolary text, as well as to discuss its functions. The analysis proves that there exists a similarity of the final formulae in both languages as well as a similarity to the formulae used in traditional letters.
В статье представлен анализ заключительных эпистолярных формул, почерпнутых из текстов, написанных на открытках на польском и русском языках во второй половине XX века и в начале XXI века. Цель исследования – охарактеризовать и сравнить структуру и прагмалингвистические особенности анализируемого компонента эпистолярного текста, а также обсудить его функции в открытом письме. Анализ приводит к выводу о сходстве заключительных формул в сравниваемых языках и об их схожести с заключительными формулами, используемыми в традиционных письмах.

Opis:
The aim of this paper is to show relevant teaching topics of Polish language phonodidactics, which, as it is believed, should be obligatory in such majors or specializations as teaching Polish/second language to foreigners or speech‑language pathology. The changing world and the growing number of multilingual people in Poland determine specific changes in universities that include work with people with migration experience. The issues in question should be discussed during the course of studies in order to prevent students of both disciplines from making mistakes during their professional practice.
Celem artykułu jest wykazanie istotnych treści nauczania z zakresu fonodydaktyki polonistycznej, które – jak się uważa – powinny być obowiązkowe na takich kierunkach lub specjalizacjach, jak nauczanie języka polskiego jako obcego/drugiego czy logopedia. Przeobrażający się świat i coraz większa liczba osób wielojęzycznych w Polsce determinują określone zmiany w programach nauczania, które uwzględniają pracę z osobami z doświadczeniem migracji. Na przykładzie autorskich zajęć wymienia się te zagadnienia, które w opinii autorki tekstu powinny być omawiane w trakcie studiów, aby uchronić adeptów obu dyscyplin przed popełnianiem błędów podczas praktyki zawodowej.

As in recent years a growing number of foreigners have been settling in Poland and learning our language, Poles have found themselves in a fairly new situation of being increasingly exposed, both in direct contacts and through the media, to their mother tongue pronounced with a variety of foreign accents. In a series of studies (Szpyra- Kozłowska and Radomski 2012, in press, Szpyra-Kozłowska 2013b) we have undertaken an examination of how such accents are perceived and evaluated by Polish listeners. The issues that have come under scrutiny so far concerned identification of the speakers’ origin, evaluation of different accents in terms of their intelligibility, degree of accentedness and acceptance, establishing the major perceptual properties of several accents and examining their salience. In the present paper we focus on the participants of communication which involves accented Polish, i.e. non-native speakers and native listeners, and their views on this phenomenon. We examine them in two questionnaire studies, one administered to 40 foreign learners of Polish and the other one to 80 native listeners. Thus, our study sets itself the following goals: to examine what attitudes Poles take towards Polish-speaking foreigners and their accents in particular (Questionnaire 2); to juxtapose these opinions with foreign learners’ experience of Poles’ reactions to accented Polish (Questionnaire 1); to draw implications for the phonetic training of foreigners who undertake to learn Polish.
