Opis:: The text offers an analysis of selected works by Władysław Hasior from an ecocritical perspective. The focus is placed on Hasior’s best-known work, The Organ, as well as on several parts of his Photo Notebook. The analysis seeks to demonstrate that an application of an ecocritical perspective to the reading of Hasior’s work may help fill in the blanks in the environmental history of art in Poland. Several recent publications and exhibitions that concern the relationship between art and nature focus on uncovering the “prehistory” of ecological art in Poland or the local tradition of Land Art. The text is meant as a preliminary study of possible research perspectives that the proposed reading may open up, as well as a consideration of whether ecocriticism could serve as an opportunity to bring the tenets of horizontal art history into the practice of rereading the work of Polish artists and their relationship with the landscape.

Opis:: In this study the author reflects upon the works by Wincenty Dunikowski-Duniko (born 1947), an active participant in the art world of the 1970s, especially Art Playing Table (1975), Sun Sculpture and An Extension of the life of mankind (both 1974-1976). Ink drawing on soft paper and miniature sketches on transparent graph paper follow the conventions of sharp technical drafting and the ‘aesthetics of administration’. They are complex in terms of the structure of the machines, and the implied motion inspires symbolic readings. These conceptual works of art resulted from affection for certain ideas, from concepts being born and eventually abandoned. They are also analogous to changes that were taking place in the aesthetic of machines over the course of the 20th century.

Opis:: The main aim of this study is to analyse selected photographs created by Stefan Wojnecki in the 1950s. Chosen materials diversify and enrich the widely accepted image of the artist, who is known primarily for his later conceptual realizations. The essay attempts to characterize those photographs, in which the crucial subject is human individual and his existential situation. The basis of the work is primarily the material collected during the interview with the artist himself.
