Der Beitrag untersucht die Transkulturalität von Wiktor Gomulickis 1896 veröffentlichtem Poem Pieśń o Gdańsku, einem der wenigen polnischen Gedichte über das Danzig des Wilhelminischen Kaiserreiches. Er zeigt, dass die antagonistische Zeichnung des deutsch-slawischen Konflikts im Danzig jener Zeit mit intertextuellen Referenzen zur deutschen Literatur (Heinrich Heine, Joseph von Eichendorff ) einhergeht, das Gedicht also durch die Spannung von Nähe und Distanz zur deutschen Hegemonialkultur geprägt ist. Einige ausgewählte Szenen des Poems werden unter Rückgriff auf interkulturelle Metaphern (Palimpsest, Störung) interpretiert.
The essay analyzes transculturalism of Wiktor Gomulicki’s poem Pieśń o Gdańsku, published in 1896, one of a few Polish poems about Gdańsk of the Wilhelmine Empire. It shows that antagonistic drawing of the German-Slavic conflict in Gdańsk of that period is accompanied by intertextual references to German literaturę (Heinrich Heine, Joseph von Eichendorff ), so the poem is characterized by tension of proximity and distance to the German hegemonic culture. The selected scenes of the poem are interpreted with recourse to intercultural metaphors (palimpsest, disruption).

Czy proza hebrajskiego odrodzenia narodowego istnieje w polskim przekładzie? opublikowanego w „Rocznikach Humanistycznych” 2012, z. 1. Autor zwraca uwagę, że wśród licznych translacji na język polski brak jest tłumaczeń ideologicznych powieści hebrajskich napisanych w Polsce: tekstów, które mówiły o odrodzonej Rzeczpospolitej i ukazywały rozterki młodego pokolenia Żydów wkraczającego w dorosłe życie w okolicy pierwszej wojny światowej oraz wiążącego z Niepodległą pewne emancypacyjne nadzieje. Zestawienie tych narracji z polityczno-społecznymi powieściami Żeromskiego, Nałkowskiej, Struga, Kadena stworzyłoby ciekawą perspektywę porównawczą. Tekst zawiera również uzupełnienie wykazu hebrajskich utworów prozatorskich przetłumaczonych na język polski w latach 1869-1939.
The paper is a continuation of the findings presented in the article Od haskali do Zagłady. Czy proza hebrajskiego odrodzenia narodowego istnieje w polskim przekładzie? published in „Roczniki Humanistyczne” 2012, vol. 1. The author points to the fact that among the numerous translations into Polish there are no translations of Hebrew ideological novels written in Poland: texts about the rebirth of the Polish state and ones showing the dilemmas of the young generation of Jews entering their adult lives at the time of World War I and putting their hopes for emancipation on the Independent Poland. Comparing these narrations with the political-social novels by Żeromski, Nałkowska, Strug or Kaden would form an interesting comparative perspective. The text also contains a supplement to the list of Hebrew fiction works translated into Polish in the years 1869-1939.

Wacław Alfred Zbyszewski (1903 – 1985) karierę literacką rozpoczął w roku 1923 jako jeden z najmłodszych publicystów w II Rzeczpospolitej. W wyniku wybuchu II Wojny Światowej znalazł się na emigracji w Londynie, następnie w Niemczech, a pod koniec życia w Paryżu. W ciągu niemal pięćdziesięciu lat działalności jako współpracownik najważniejszych polskich organów informacyjnych i opiniotwórczych: „Dziennika Polskiego”, tygodnika „Wiadomości”, miesięcznika „Kultura”oraz Sekcji Polskiej Radia Wolna Europa,  zdobył pozycję jednego z najciekawszych i najpopularniejszych dziennikarzy.  Niniejszy artykuł jest próbą odpowiedzi na pytanie jak tę wieloletnią dziennikarską aktywność oceniali twórcy emigracyjnej kultury w tym zwierzchnicy oraz redakcyjni koledzy oraz jaki był ich stosunek do samego Wacława Zbyszewskiego. W celu przybliżenia wspomnianych kwestii w artykule zebrane i omówione zostały teksty wspomnieniowe poświęcone Wacławowi Zbyszewskiemu jak i działalności instytucji z którymi był związany w okresie II Wojny Światowej i Zimnej Wojny. Wśród autorów wykorzystanych materiałów źródłowych wymienić można m. in. Stefanię Kossowską, Marię Danilewiczową czy Jerzego Giedroyca.
Wacław Alfred Zbyszewski (1903 - 1985) began his literary career in 1923 as one of the youngest publicists in the Second Polish Republic. Following the outbreak of World War II, he found himself in exile in London, then in Germany, and at the end of his life in Paris. During almost fifty years of his activity as a collaborator of the most important Polish information and opinion-forming outlets: "Dziennik Polski", the weekly "Wiadomości", the monthly "Kultura"and the Polish Section of Radio Free Europe, he became one of the most interesting and popular journalists. This article is an attempt to answer the question of how such a long journalistic activity was evaluated by the most prominent figures of the Polish culture on emigration, including Zbyszewski’s superiors and editorial colleagues, and what was their attitude towards Wacław Zbyszewski himself. In order to do so, the article collects and discusses memoirs devoted to Wacław Zbyszewski and the activities of the institutions he was associated with during World War II and the Cold War. Among the authors of the source materials used in the article are Stefania Kossowska, Maria Danilewiczowa and Jerzy Giedroyc.

The article analyses the unique copy of the old Polish catholic hymn book Pieśni nabożne na święta uroczyste według porządku Kościoła ś. katolickiego na cały rok z wielką pilnością zebrane [Songs of piety and devotion...] published in Cracow in 1627 and found at the library at Escorial in Spain. The book, apparently the first known printed Polish catholic extensive hymn book, contained over 140 songs, in Polish and Latin, including works written by Jan Kochanowski and Mikołaj Rej. The article also describes later editions of the hymn book. This is a particularly important book in the history of Polish culture because it was repeatedly republished in different printing offices, not only Catholic, under the same or slightly changed title as late as until the nineteenth century. Numerous editions of the hymn book constitute a valuable source for the study of Polish Catholic hymns as they make it possible to follow and trace the chronology of works, their textual variations and the popularity of particular songs or hymns within a particular time frame, as well as their range of influence and regional occurrence.

The article presents and evaluates the state of research concerning the history of modern criminal law science in Poland. The author indicates that these studies have been conducted by legal historians and criminal law experts. Over the last 30 years, there appeared a number of historical and legal contributions to the biographies and works of distinguished Polish lawyers of the 19th and early 20th centuries. In addition, criminal lawyers published a monograph on the most eminent Polish scholar – Juliusz Makarewicz. They also contributed to re-edition of many works by Makarewicz.
Niniejsze opracowanie przedstawia i ocenia stan badań nad historią nowoczesnej nauki prawa karnego w Polsce. Autorka wskazuje, że badania te prowadzą historycy prawa oraz specjaliści prawa karnego. W ciągu ostatnich 30 lat ukazał się szereg przyczynków historyczno-prawnych do biografii i twórczości wybitnych polskich prawników działających w XIX i na początku XX w. Ponadto karnicy wydali monografię o najwybitniejszym polskim uczonym – Juliuszu Makarewiczu, a także doprowadzili do reedycji jego wielu prac.

Artykuł poświęcony jest prezentacji nowej formuły rocznika „Narracje o Zagładzie”. Zamysł periodyku wziął się z przekonania, że Holokaust jest punktem zero polskiej kultury i jejkonceptualizacji, a szeroko rozumiane narracje stanowią niezbędne medium dla rozpoznania i przedstawienia komplikacji, jakie stąd wynikają. Nasz rocznik będący swego rodzaju projektem w toku, zdaje się symptomatyczny dla stanu studiów nad Zagładą (i innymi ludobójstwami) w Polsce, zarazem sonduje i wytycza perspektywy ich rozwoju. Formuła pisma ukonstytuowana przez konsekwentnie konstruowane numery monograficzne odpowiada na wyzwania współczesnej humanistyki, wypełnia lukę w polskich badaniach nad Zagładą, ukierunkowanych dotąd przede wszystkim na studia historiograficzne. „Narracje o Zagładzie” stanowią swoiste laboratorium nowych metodologii, interdyscyplinarne forum nowatorskich koncepcji, a zarazem kontynuują najlepsze literaturoznawcze praktyki tradycyjnej filologii, w każdym numerze pisma publikowane są dokumenty archiwalne, redakcja dowartościowuje pogłębione interpretacje tekstów i zjawisk kultury. Anonsowane w tytule artykułu nowe otwarcie w czasopiśmie polegać będzie przede wszystkim na rozszerzeniu pola zainteresowań o takie zagadnienia jak narracje dotyczące ludobójstw innych niz Holokaust czy powiązania studiów nad Zagładą ze studiami ekokrytycznymi, zwłaszcza problematyką antropocenu.
The article aims at presenting the new formula of Narrations of the Shoah, Polish academic journal. The idea behind the journal is linked to the conviction that the Holocaust isthe zero point of Polish culture and its conceptualisation, and broadly understood narrations are a necessary medium to recognise and depict complications resulting from this issue. This journal appears to be symptomatic of the state of research on the Shoah (and other genocides) in Poland; Narrations of the Shoah simultaneously probes and delineates the perspectives of its development. The formula of the journal responds to the challenges of contemporary humanities and fills the gap in Polish studies on the Shoah. Narrations of the Shoah is a sui generis laboratory of new methodologies, an interdisciplinary forum of cutting-edge ideas, but it also provides a continuation of the best practices of traditional philology and literary studies. Announced in the title of this article, the journal’s new opening will primarily consist in broadening its field of interest to include such issues as narrations of genocides other tham the Holocaust or the relation between Holocaust studies and ecocriticism, especially the notion of the Anthropocene.

The paper proves that there exist cases of Polish translations of Hebrew revival literature, even though no official book translations are available. Novels and short stories by M. Z. Feierberg, J. Berditchevsky, H. J. Brenner, Sh. J. Agnon, A. Hameiri, H. Hazaz, D. Frischman, G. Schofman, A. Kabak and others have survived profusely in the Jewish-Polish press of the time. The paper also includes an index of stories discovered in the Polish language Jewish press. The query covered the writings from the late Haskalah period until the Holocaust time: from the assimilative weekly “Jutrzenka” (1861-1863) and “Izraelita” (1866-1915), through the “Moria” monthly (1903-1924), until the national-Zionist dailies that ceased to be published on the outbreak of World War II. Thus, we can conclude that a vast selection of stories is available for analysis, even though some important texts are still missing: neither D. Vogel's nor U.N. Gnessin's prose has been translated yet.

W prezentowanym artykule został przedstawiony temat stosunku kalwinistów polskich wobec katolickich zgromadzeń zakonnych w XVI oraz pierwszej połowie XVII wieku. Spośród wielu przedstawicieli konfesji helweckiej w Rzeczypospolitej wybrano trzech autorów, którzy zarówno w obszerny jak również wnikliwy sposób powzięli w swoich dziełach ten temat. Zgromadzenia zakonne były niewątpliwie obiektem zainteresowania ze strony protestantów polskich. Jak wykazano, znali oni również procedurę kanoniczną dotyczącą powoływania zakonów do życia w Kościele. Krytyka, zarówno fundamentalnych kwestii teologicznych jak również społecznych, związanych z funkcjonowaniem zakonów, utrzymana była najczęściej w ostrym tonie, nie pozbawionym jednak mocnych argumentów teologicznych.
The relationship between Polish Calvinists and Catholic religious congregations in the 16th  and the first half of the 17th century was featured in this article. And among many representatives of Helvetic Confession in the Commonwealth three authors were chosen, who broached this subject in their pieces of work both in a comprehensive and insightful way. Religious congregations were unquestionably a matter of interest from Polish Calvinists. It was proved that they also knew the canonical process by which new congregations were approved in the Church. Both fundamental theological and social issues, which were associated with congregations and the way they were run, came usually under heavy criticism but not deprived of valid theological arguments.

Presented article is a recapitulation of visible tendencies in both Polish and Czech publishing markets with regard to publications of literary translations of Czech literature in Poland and Polish literature in the Czech Republic in 2016 and 2017. It presents the most important literary translations in each language pair, pointing out leading publishers and the most active translators in this area. Finally, the author outlines general paths along which the Polish literature translations in the Czech Republic and vice versa develop.

The aim of the article is to place Maria Helleberg’s book Fremmede naboer (1992) in a broader cultural and literary context and to define its position in the Danish discourse on Poland. The author of the article points out some elements used for creating an image of Poland and confronts the image with the canonical representation of Poland from Georg Brandes’ text Indtryk fra Polen (1888). The result of the comparison mentioned above shows a certain conservatism in the way Poland is presented in Danish literary discourse. The conclusion is supported with references to other texts dealing with Polish matters from the period from 1888 to 2002.

Komentáře do bibliografie překladů české literatury v Polsku a polské literatury v České republice v 2015 roce je rekapitulaci událostí na polském a českém vydavatelském trhu, spojených s publikací překladů české literatury v Polsku a polské literatury v České republice v roce 2015. V této souvislosti se prezentovaly nejdůležitější překladové publikace v tomto jazykovém páru, uvedla se významná nakladatelství a aktivní překladatele. Kritický přehled je doprovázen stručným nastíněním vývoje polských a českých nakladatelů, zabývajících se prezentací polské literatury v České republice a české literatury v Polsku.
Annotations to the bibliography of literary translations of Czech literature in Poland and Polish literature in the Czech Republic in 2015 is a summation of events in both the Polish and Czech publishing markets, connected with the publishing of literary translations of Czech literature in Poland and Polish literature in the Czech Republic in 2015. Within the framework of annotation, the most important literary translations in this language pair were presented, pointing to the leading publishers and active translators. An evaluative review is linked to a compact outline of the development of Polish and Czech publishers that handle Polish literature in the Czech Republic and Czech literature in Poland.

This article analyzes the representation of Jadwiga of Anjou, the first female monarch of Poland, crowned in 1384, and a saint of the Roman Catholic Church, in Felicjan Faleński's drama The Queen. Published in 1888, the drama features a heroine whose characterization owes a great deal to the late 19th‑century religious culture, and more specifically, the debates about Catholic modernism at the turn of the 19th century. As Felicjan Faleński was by no means unaffected by them (as shown by his Meandry, a volume of ‘unkempt’ verse, published in 1892), The Queen may be claimed to be the first modernist hagiography of Queen Jadwiga in the history of Polish literature.

Rev. Prof. Marian Wolniewicz is one of the most outstanding contemporary biblical scholars of the Poznań theological milieu. From his youth until the end of his life (t 2005) he wrote personal lyric poetry. A selection of his poems was published posthumously by the Theological Faculty of Adam Mickiewicz University in a volume titled A Spiritual Diary in Verse edited by Feliks Lenort with an introduction by Zdzisław Grzegorski, a theologian and scholar of Polish literature. The poems predominantly express man's religious experience through impressions of the moment and feelings evoked by sights of the landscape, but the lyric subject does not define himself through realities characteristic of a priest and theologian. In his poetic attitude Rev. Marian Wolniewicz was inspired by the poetry of Wojciech Bąk and the French symbolists. Similarly to Stephane Mallarme he fulfilled the concepts of subsequent poems as a continuation of one single oeuvre which would finish with the death of the author. His last poetic notation was also his last attempt to translate a verse from the Gospel according to John.

Scham ist eine allgegenwärtige, jedoch schwer zu untersuchende Emotion, die ungern erfahren und oft tabuisiert wird. Die Analyse der ausgewählten Werke von deutschen Autoren polnischer Herkunft, Adam Soboczynski, Alice Bota, Alexandra Tobor und Emilia Smechowski, lässt schlussfolgern, dass darin das sozial und kulturell geprägte Schamgefühl als ein existenzielles Erlebnis im Migrationsprozess dargestellt wird. Vor dem Hintergrund der Aussiedler-Auswanderung aus Polen nach Deutschland in den 1980er-Jahren zeigen die Texte Momente der Selbstreflexion von literarischen Figuren vor einer verinnerlichten fremden Beobachtungsinstanz, deren Normen- und Wertesystem sie mindestens partiell anerkennen. Die literarische Darstellung von Scham umfasst die Repräsentation von mannigfaltigen Schamanlässen (stigmatisierende Herkunft, soziale Stellung, Normverletzung) sowie kurz- und langfristigen Wirkungen der erlebten Entwürdigung auf das Selbstbild und Verhalten der Migranten.
Wstyd to wszechobecna, a zarazem trudna do zbadania emocja, której nie lubimy przeżywać i którą często ukrywamy. Analiza wybranych utworów niemieckich autorów polskiego pochodzenia, Adama Soboczynskiego, Alice Boty, Alexandry Tobor i Emilii Smechowski, pozwala stwierdzić, że społecznie i kulturowo ukształtowane poczucie wstydu jest w nich przedstawiane jako doświadczenie egzystencjalne w procesie migracji. Na tle emigracji przesiedleńczej z Polski do Niemiec w latach 80. XX wieku teksty ukazują momenty autorefleksji, jakiej postacie literackie dokonują w obliczu zinternalizowanego obcego obserwatora, którego system norm i wartości przynajmniej częściowo akceptują. Literacka reprezentacja wstydu obejmuje przedstawienie różnorodnych przyczyn odczuwania tej emocji (stygmatyzujące pochodzenie, pozycja społeczna, naruszanie norm), jak również krótko- i długoterminowe skutki doświadczanej degradacji wpływające na własny obraz i zachowania migrantów.
Shame is an omnipresent, yet difficult to study emotion that is reluctantly experienced and often tabooed. The analysis of the selected works by German authors of Polish origin, Adam Soboczynski, Alice Bota, Alexandra Tobor and Emilia Smechowski, allows one to conclude that the socially and culturally shaped feeling of shame is presented there as an existential experience in the migration process. Against the backdrop of resettler emigration from Poland to Germany in the 1980s, the texts show moments of self-reflection by literary figures before an internalised alien observer whose system of norms and values they at least partially recognise. The literary representation of shame includes the representation of manifold causes of shame (stigmatising origin, social position, violation of norms) as well as short- and long-term effects of the experienced degradation on the migrants’ self-image and behaviour.

Opis:
The objective of this paper is twofold: (1) to review the literature on dance in Poland and (2) to make Polish dance bibliography more elaborate. First, the essay discusses the current state of research on dance in Poland. Second, it presents the classification of dance publications by Leslie Getz and attempts to create a bibliography of the dance catalogue in Poland. Finally, it comments on the scientific activity of Polish research institutions studying dance and suggests some improvements to the current situation of dance research in Poland.
