A volume of poems Życia mego kwiat [The Flower of My Life] by Maria Czajkowska, née Grabińska, published posthumously in 1921 – alongside her brother's (Stefan Grabiński) horror play Ciemne siły [Dark Forces] – includes just over twenty poems, mostly sonnets, written in the poetic style characteristic of the Young Poland movement. Most of them seem to have been written between 1917 and 1918, after the death of Maria Czajkowska’s sister Jarosława; yet even those that may predate that tragic event are steeped in a mood of unrelieved melancholy and grief. Together, they can be read as a record of the poet’s spiritual biography, dominated by the trauma of waiting for death and the burden of a miserable and unhappy life. With her allegiance to Young Poland's mannered style, replete with metaphors of illness, demise and destruction, Czajkowska may appear outmoded in the post-war literary scene, and yet her poems cannot be denied an originality and authenticity of their own. Moreover, her dark introvertism is not unlike the Gothic strain of her brother’s popular fiction.

The author of the article analyzes three biographical stories about the Gypsy poet Bronislawa Wajs – Papusza: Demony cudzego strachu by Jerzy Ficowski (Demons of someone else’s fear), report of Angelika Kuźniak and the movie by Joanna Kos-Krauze and Krzysztof Krauze. Each narrative selected for the analysis is a collection of topics and issues related to the anthropological, social, identity’s strategies and pitfalls of biographistic studies. Each one of them is also about the heterogeneous issues concerning connections of Papusza’s life and work with political and social contexts of her biography. For Jerzy Ficowski central issue in the reconstruction of the history of Bronisława Wajs’ life is tragic figure of a poet, in a report by Angelika Kuźniak the key issues are those related to biography and social violence, in the movie about Papusza main themes are gypsy memory, loss and otherness.

The article raises the topic of the evolving image of Venice from the perspectives of three travel accounts: by Vittorio Alfieri, Fryderyk August Moszyński, and Stanisław Dunin-Borkowski. They were all bound by the figure of the Italian playwright Alfieri. In the article, I propose a new look into the accounts from the travels of Polish intellectual elite: an enlightened journey described in the recollections by Moszyński, and a 19th-century journey depicted in the journals by Borkowski, following Alfieri as the guide. Considering his tragedies in support of national liberation, he perfectly matched the ideas in the minds of Polish artists at the turn of the 19th century. Even though the author may be forgotten today, the reception of his works, depending on the historical period, political situation, and literary streams, evolved interchangeably placing him in the spotlight and ignoring him. In the first half of the 19th century, he was a significant figure, a fact which triggers interesting observations, particularly in the context of the journeys of artists to Venice.

Cel, jaki postawiła sobie autorka artykułu, zakładał scharakteryzowanie pod względem ilościowym piśmiennictwa polskiego tematycznie związanego z problematyką komputeryzacji bibliotek w Polsce, określenie dynamiki jego wzrostu na przestrzeni ostatniego półwiecza oraz przedstawienie charakterystyki ilościowej – szczegółowych zagadnień, które były przedmiotem publikacji do końca 2017 r. Zastosowana została metoda bibliometryczna, a źródłem danych do analiz bibliometrycznych była „Polska Bibliografia Bibliologiczna” (PBB). Badanie pozwoliło określić, kiedy w polskim piśmiennictwie bibliologicznym i informatologicznym zaczęły pojawiać się pierwsze publikacje na temat automatyzacji bibliotek oraz jak kształtowała się dynamika wzrostu piśmiennictwa w tym obszarze w latach 1970–2009. Z zagadnień szczegółowych oznaczono jedynie publikacje nt. katalogów online, bibliotek cyfrowych i Internetu w bibliotekarstwie. Badanie pozwoliło również zidentyfikować czynniki, które utrudniały lub wręcz uniemożliwiały przeprowadzenie – niezbędnych dla otrzymania wiarygodnych wyników – analiz bibliometrycznych. Praca została wzbogacona o elementy analizy „Polskiej Bibliografii Bibliologicznej” pod kątem jej przydatności jako źródła do badań bibliometrycznych omawianej problematyki.
One planned to present a quantitative description of the Polish literature which is thematically associated with the problems of the computerisation of libraries in Poland; to define the dynamics of its growth across the span of the last fifty years and to identify – and to provide a quantitative description thereof – of the particular problems which were the subject of the publication until the end of 2017. One applied a bibliometrical method, and the source of data for the bibliometrical analyses was constituted by the “Polish Bibliological Bibliography” (PBB). The study enabled one to determine the time when the bibliological and informatological literature saw the emergence of the first publications which are thematically associated with the problems of the automatisation of libraries and how the dynamics of the growth of the literature in this field occurred in the years 1970–2009. As far as the particular problems are concerned, one indicated only the publications devoted to online catalogues, digital libraries and the Internet in library science. The study also facilitated the identification of factors which hindered or even precluded bibliometrical analyses – the latter were necessary for the obtaining of reliable results. The work was enhanced by the elements of the analysis of the “Polish Bibliological Bibliography” in terms of its utility as a source for bibliometrical research in the problems which are discussed.

Opis:
The main theme in the Polish science and fiction literature, which in the postwar era evolved primarily in exile (in the works of Józef Mackiewicz and other authors whose interest was concentrated on Second World War times), are issues related to the lack of understanding and reconciliation between the Polish resistance movement, the history of the Home Army and the guerrilla groups of various nationalities (Belarusian, Lithuanian, Ukrainian, Russian) in the Polish Eastern Borderlands occupied by the Nazis and national organizations and liberation movements of nations that sought their own solutions to national problems by means of collaboration with the occupants. Misunderstandings, war clashes among themselves caused fatal misfortune, irreparable damage to the lives of these people and for the common cause against the occupant. At first the Polish literature was dominated by the desire to find the culprits of this situation among neighbours, among others to prove the guilt of the Belarusians in what formed in Polish Eastern Borderland during the war and occupation, then the creation of the communist regime, when, supposedly, Belarusians willingly and on a mass scale served in the Soviet authorities “gosbezopasnosti” and in the ranks of the Polish Department of Security (UB). Such a drive in the works of writers and scientific studies of recent decades is changing to a more objective approach and indepth analysis of the dramatic situation in which were nations of Eastern Europe, deceived by their own leaders, blinded by false illusions, pulled into a fratricidal war. In Polish literature, whose attention is paid to the situation of the Belarusian minority in post-war “People’s Poland” – situation in many aspects hard and unlawful – new intonations of repentance and reconciliation can be heard much louder. Evidence of this poetic light Belarus-Dobrorus image can be.
Главным мотивом польской научной и художественной литературы, освещающей период Второй мировой (в советской терминологии – Великой Отечественной) войны на оккупированных немецко-фашистскими захватчиками землях Белоруссии и на восточных окраинах («Кресах») Польши, остаются проблемы и сюжеты досадных недоразумений, несогласованности, столкновений между польским движением антифашистского сопротивления, действиями Армии Крайовой, и партизанскими группами белорусов, литовцев, украинцев, русских, находившимися в антифашистком подполье, а также национальными движениями и организациями этих народов, сотрудничавшими с немецкими оккупантами. Взаимные раздоры наносили непоправимый ущерб общему делу антифашистского сопротивления. Доминирующее на первых порах в польской исторической литературе, развивавшейся в условиях эмиграции (у Юзефа Мацкевича и других авторов), стремление найти в своих соседях, в частности, в белорусской среде, главных виновников польской трагедии и обвинить их сначала в колаборации гитлеровскими оккупантами, а затем в действиях, способствующих установлению коммунистического режима, в служении в органах советской госбезопасности и в Управлении безопасности (УБ) Польской Народной Республики, якобы вербующего из белорусского меньшинства основные кадры палачей и карателей, сменяется в творчестве писателей и в исторических исследованиях последних десятилетий более объективным подходом и глубоким анализом той драматической ситуации, в которой оказались большие и малые народы Восточной Европы, обманутые своими лидерами, ослепленные ложными иллюзиями, ввергнутые в кошмар братоубийственной войны. В польской литературе, обратившей внимание на во многом бесправное и ущемленное положение белорусского меньшинства в ПНР, все сильнее звучат интонации сочувствия и раскаяния. Свидетельством тому является поэтический образ Белоруссии-Доброруси, созданный Тадеушем Конвицким.

The objective of this paper is twofold: (1) to review the literature on dance in Poland and (2) to make Polish dance bibliography more elaborate. First, the essay discusses the current state of research on dance in Poland. Second, it presents the classification of dance publications by Leslie Getz and attempts to create a bibliography of the dance catalogue in Poland. Scham ist eine allgegenwärtige, jedoch schwer zu untersuchende Emotion, die ungern erfahren und oft tabuisiert wird. Die Analyse der ausgewählten Werke von deutschen Autoren polnischer Herkunft, Adam Soboczynski, Alice Bota, Alexandra Tobor und Emilia Smechowski, lässt schlussfolgern, dass darin das sozial und kulturell geprägte Schamgefühl als ein existenzielles Erlebnis im Migrationsprozess dargestellt wird. Vor dem Hintergrund der Aussiedler-Auswanderung aus Polen nach Deutschland in den 1980er-Jahren zeigen die Texte Momente der Selbstreflexion von literarischen Figuren vor einer verinnerlichten fremden Beobachtungsinstanz, deren Normen- und Wertesystem sie mindestens partiell anerkennen. Die literarische Darstellung von Scham umfasst die Repräsentation von mannigfaltigen Schamanlässen (stigmatisierende Herkunft, soziale Stellung, Normverletzung) sowie kurz- und langfristigen Wirkungen der erlebten Entwürdigung auf das Selbstbild und Verhalten der Migranten.
Wstyd to wszechobecna, a zarazem trudna do zbadania emocja, której nie lubimy przeżywać i którą często ukrywamy. Analiza wybranych utworów niemieckich autorów polskiego pochodzenia, Adama Soboczynskiego, Alice Boty, Alexandry Tobor i Emilii Smechowski, pozwala stwierdzić, że społecznie i kulturowo ukształtowane poczucie wstydu jest w nich przedstawiane jako doświadczenie egzystencjalne w procesie migracji. Na tle emigracji przesiedleńczej z Polski do Niemiec w latach 80. XX wieku teksty ukazują momenty autorefleksji, jakiej postacie literackie dokonują w obliczu zinternalizowanego obcego obserwatora, którego system norm i wartości przynajmniej częściowo akceptują. Literacka reprezentacja wstydu obejmuje przedstawienie różnorodnych przyczyn odczuwania tej emocji (stygmatyzujące pochodzenie, pozycja społeczna, naruszanie norm), jak również krótko- i długoterminowe skutki doświadczanej degradacji wpływające na własny obraz i zachowania migrantów.
Shame is an omnipresent, yet difficult to study emotion that is reluctantly experienced and often tabooed. The analysis of the selected works by German authors of Polish origin, Adam Soboczynski, Alice Bota, Alexandra Tobor and Emilia Smechowski, allows one to conclude that the socially and culturally shaped feeling of shame is presented there as an existential experience in the migration process. Against the backdrop of resettler emigration from Poland to Germany in the 1980s, the texts show moments of self-reflection by literary figures before an internalised alien observer whose system of norms and values they at least partially recognise. The literary representation of shame includes the representation of manifold causes of shame (stigmatising origin, social position, violation of norms) as well as short- and long-term effects of the experienced degradation on the migrants’ self-image and behaviour.

Rev. Prof. Marian Wolniewicz is one of the most outstanding contemporary biblical scholars of the Poznań theological milieu. From his youth until the end of his life (t 2005) he wrote personal lyric poetry. A selection of his poems was published posthumously by the Theological Faculty of Adam Mickiewicz University in a volume titled A Spiritual Diary in Verse edited by Feliks Lenort with an introduction by Zdzisław Grzegorski, a theologian and scholar of Polish literature. The poems predominantly express man's religious experience through impressions of the moment and feelings evoked by sights of the landscape, but the lyric subject does not define himself through realities characteristic of a priest and theologian. In his poetic attitude Rev. Marian Wolniewicz was inspired by the poetry of Wojciech Bąk and the French symbolists. Similarly to Stephane Mallarme he fulfilled the concepts of subsequent poems as a continuation of one single oeuvre which would finish with the death of the author. His last poetic notation was also his last attempt to translate a verse from the Gospel according to John.

This article analyzes the representation of Jadwiga of Anjou, the first female monarch of Poland, crowned in 1384, and a saint of the Roman Catholic Church, in Felicjan Faleński's drama The Queen. Published in 1888, the drama features a heroine whose characterization owes a great deal to the late 19th‑century religious culture, and more specifically, the debates about Catholic modernism at the turn of the 19th century. As Felicjan Faleński was by no means unaffected by them (as shown by his Meandry, a volume of ‘unkempt’ verse, published in 1892), The Queen may be claimed to be the first modernist hagiography of Queen Jadwiga in the history of Polish literature.

Komentáře do bibliografie překladů české literatury v Polsku a polské literatury v České republice v 2015 roce je rekapitulaci událostí na polském a českém vydavatelském trhu, spojených s publikací překladů české literatury v Polsku a polské literatury v České republice v roce 2015. V této souvislosti se prezentovaly nejdůležitější překladové publikace v tomto jazykovém páru, uvedla se významná nakladatelství a aktivní překladatele. Kritický přehled je doprovázen stručným nastíněním vývoje polských a českých nakladatelů, zabývajících se prezentací polské literatury v České republice a české literatury v Polsku.
Annotations to the bibliography of literary translations of Czech literature in Poland and Polish literature in the Czech Republic in 2015 is a summation of events in both the Polish and Czech publishing markets, connected with the publishing of literary translations of Czech literature in Poland and Polish literature in the Czech Republic in 2015. Within the framework of annotation, the most important literary translations in this language pair were presented, pointing to the leading publishers and active translators. An evaluative review is linked to a compact outline of the development of Polish and Czech publishers that handle Polish literature in the Czech Republic and Czech literature in Poland.

Opis:
The aim of the article is to place Maria Helleberg’s book Fremmede naboer (1992) in a broader cultural and literary context and to define its position in the Danish discourse on Poland. The author of the article points out some elements used for creating an image of Poland and confronts the image with the canonical representation of Poland from Georg Brandes’ text Indtryk fra Polen (1888). The result of the comparison mentioned above shows a certain conservatism in the way Poland is presented in Danish literary discourse. The conclusion is supported with references to other texts dealing with Polish matters from the period from 1888 to 2002.

Presented article is a recapitulation of visible tendencies in both Polish and Czech publishing markets with regard to publications of literary translations of Czech literature in Poland and Polish literature in the Czech Republic in 2016 and 2017. It presents the most important literary translations in each language pair, pointing out leading publishers and the most active translators in this area. Finally, the author outlines general paths along which the Polish literature translations in the Czech Republic and vice versa develop.

Opis:
W prezentowanym artykule został przedstawiony temat stosunku kalwinistów polskich wobec katolickich zgromadzeń zakonnych w XVI oraz pierwszej połowie XVII wieku. Spośród wielu przedstawicieli konfesji helweckiej w Rzeczypospolitej wybrano trzech autorów, którzy zarówno w obszerny jak również wnikliwy sposób powzięli w swoich dziełach ten temat. Zgromadzenia zakonne były niewątpliwie obiektem zainteresowania ze strony protestantów polskich. Jak wykazano, znali oni również procedurę kanoniczną dotyczącą powoływania zakonów do życia w Kościele. Krytyka, zarówno fundamentalnych kwestii teologicznych jak również społecznych, związanych z funkcjonowaniem zakonów, utrzymana była najczęściej w ostrym tonie, nie pozbawionym jednak mocnych argumentów teologicznych.
The relationship between Polish Calvinists and Catholic religious congregations in the 16th  and the first half of the 17th century was featured in this article. And among many representatives of Helvetic Confession in the Commonwealth three authors were chosen, who broached this subject in their pieces of work both in a comprehensive and insightful way. Religious congregations were unquestionably a matter of interest from Polish Calvinists. It was proved that they also knew the canonical process by which new congregations were approved in the Church. Both fundamental theological and social issues, which were associated with congregations and the way they were run, came usually under heavy criticism but not deprived of valid theological arguments.

The paper proves that there exist cases of Polish translations of Hebrew revival literature, even though no official book translations are available. Novels and short stories by M. Z. Feierberg, J. Berditchevsky, H. J. Brenner, Sh. J. Agnon, A. Hameiri, H. Hazaz, D. Frischman, G. Schofman, A. Kabak and others have survived profusely in the Jewish-Polish press of the time. The paper also includes an index of stories discovered in the Polish language Jewish press. The query covered the writings from the late Haskalah period until the Holocaust time: from the assimilative weekly “Jutrzenka” (1861-1863) and “Izraelita” (1866-1915), through the “Moria” monthly (1903-1924), until the national-Zionist dailies that ceased to be published on the outbreak of World War II. Thus, we can conclude that a vast selection of stories is available for analysis, even though some important texts are still missing: neither D. Vogel's nor U.N. Gnessin's prose has been translated yet.
