Opis:
During the excavations carried out in 2007-2008 dwelling part of the site at Pakoszówka was investigated, in the zone bordering on area where the field works in 2003-2004 were conducted. Especially worth noticing are observations concerning stratigraphical relations between some features within the investigated part of the site. They remain in accordance with the relative chronology of pottery discovered within fills of the features. Oldest one are two large storage pits, dated back to the beginning of the Early Roman Period. They are cut partially by relics of an earthfast house, which yielded pottery from the end of the Early Roman Period. The youngest stage of this stratigraphical sequence is represented by the pit, which is dated to Younger Roman Period. Within the fill of the last mentioned feature besides the hand-made pottery also some fragments of wheel-made pottery as well as piece of silver mirror were found. All discovered in 2007-2008 artifacts represent Przeworsk culture, however with some traces of other cultural traditions.

Opis:
In 2004, an expedition of the Institute of Archaeology of the Jagiellonian University conducted the trial researches at cremation cemetery at Prusiek, and then in the years 2005 to 2006 regular rescue excavations. There were discovered 41 objects, including 35 graves and six small pits, presumably post-holes. A majority of burials were urn graves but ash graves have also been recorded. Burials are generally characterized by a relatively wide range of equipment, including weapons, i.a. swords imported from the Roman Empire. Preliminary analysis of inventories acquired so far indicates that the Prusiek necropolis should be dates back to the turn of the Early and Younger Roman Period, another words to the decline of the B2 phase and the phase C1a (with a distinctive within it the B2/C1 horizon). Materials from the cemetery at Prusiek show clear links with the so-called eastern zone of the Przeworsk Culture.

Opis:
The development of fault pattern in the Silesian Nappe (Central Carpathian Depression) in the eastern part of Polish Outer Carpathians is outlined, from field observations and interpretation of air photos and radar images. Fault slip analysis and palaeostress reconstruction was applied to determine different systems of strike-slip, reverse and normal faults and the relative age of each system was determined. The results show a consistent evolution of fault systems which occurred as several episodes. Some of these episodes are local but others represent a regional pattern of faulting across the whole Polish Eastern Outer Carpathians. The beginning of fault evolution took place in Late Oligocene to Late Miocene times. The oldest phase is represented by reverse and thrust faults of system R1 with SW-NE compression; a younger phase involves origination of strike-slip faults belonging to system S1 (with the same direction of compression). Reverse (system R2) and strike-slip (system S2) faults were formed locally during a N-S compressional event. Dextral strike-slip faults of system S3 with simultanous opening of a dextral set of fault system S1 originated subsequently. The youngest events are represented by normal faults N1, N2, and N3 systems during NW-SE, and SW-NE to N-S extension.

Opis:
Wielkość i kierunek przemian krajobrazu określono z wykorzystaniem analizy kartograficznej map archiwalnych w podejściu HGIS (ang. Historical GIS). Opracowana w 2015 r. przez J. Plit regionalizacja współczesnych krajobrazów historyczno-kulturowych Polski stanowiła ramy teoretyczne do prowadzonych rozważań.
The aim of the study is to identify changes in rural landscape resulting from the break in the continuity of settlement. Landscape effects of cultural decline are presented on the example of Wiar River basin in Polish Eastern Carpathians, an area representative for the regions, where after displacement of inhabitants human population has been hardly restored. The magnitude and direction of changes in landscape structure were determined by means of cartographic analysis of archival maps in Historical GIS approach. The historical-cultural regionalization of Polish landscape developed by J. Plit in 2015 was adopted as theoretical framework for further considerations.

Opis:
Professor Zdzislaw Pazdro (1903–1987) is regarded as the creator of the Polish school of hydrogeology. He was born in Lviv. In times of dramatic rebirth of the Polish state, he participated, as a 15-year-old boy, in the defense of Lviv in 1918, and was a volunteer in the Polish-Soviet War in 1920. In 1925, Zdzis³aw Pazdro graduated from the University of Lviv as a geologist and, as an employee of the University, conducted research work on stratigraphy and tectonics of the Carpathians. Over time, his interests turned to economic geology; he participated in the exploration of the Bug Coal Basin in and the prospecting for bituminous minerals. During World War II (1939–1945), he acted in conspiracy in the structures of the Polish Underground State. He was imprisoned by the Gestapo, and then, after the capture of Lviv by the Soviet Army, by the NKVD. He was released as a high-class geologist at the request of the Polish communist authorities. After the war, he organized the first hydrogeological and geological-engineering studies in Poland (Gdañsk University of Technology, in 1952), was the author of the first, highly acclaimed textbook "Hydrogeologia ogólna" (1964), long-standing chairman of the Commission for Hydrogeological Documentations at the Central Geological Office, teacher of several generations of Polish hydrogeologists, and author of regional hydrogeological syntheses and hydrogeochemical reports.
