    Implementing the statutory obligation to prepare the plan of public transport integrated development have met with criticism both from practitioners dealing with organizing and managing public transport and from local government representatives. Critical remarks concern the range as well as the rules of implementing transport plans into the public transport organizing and managing processes. The hereby article presents the proposal how to prepare the transport plans in a way that enables not only meeting formal criteria of their possession, but also using them in the practice of organizing and managing public transport.

    The economy is constantly changing and therefore companies look for ways to cut the costs of their current business activities. Lowering the costs of logistics, especially costs of transport, is essential for many companies. To achieve this aim they must have innovative knowledge concerning logistics management. Publication present T-Scale platform which conception can leads to reduce cost of transport. There were described platform functionality as well as benefits to the companies as a resulting of using T-Scale application.

    Background: The article provides a discussion on freight transport planning. The existing solutions applied in this sphere have been compared with the environment-related needs. The concept which has been proposed involves a dedicated travel planner that takes some additional non-standard criteria into consideration. At the same time, the authors have highlighted the necessity to expand the algorithms being applied, and to address the comprehensive nature of the problem. However, it is the first and last mile section of supply chains on which the article focuses. The planner described in the paper is being developed as a part of an integrated platform implemented under the international S-mile project. Research methodology: The solutions proposed for transport planning purposes include application of ICT. A review of the available solutions has made it possible to indicate one of the planners currently in use as the foundation upon which a more advanced freight transport planning tool dedicated to the first/last mile section can be built. The planner requires application of several optimisation algorithms, including those which consider route parameters, the selection of fleet vehicles available for the given task, cargo distribution over the vehicle etc. The article defines both primary and secondary criteria that such a planner should take into account, including the environmental ones. What the authors have also highlighted is the possibility to make use of open data sources. The approach they have proposed makes it possible to raise the level of environmental awareness at the first and the last mile management stage, and since multiple transport aspects have been addressed, it also increases planning efficiency. Goals: The purpose of the article has been to discuss an eco-friendly solution which may limit the negative environmental impact of transport. Conclusions: The solution described in the paper may change the manner in which freight transport is managed in cities. Taking environmental criteria into consideration makes it possible to reduce the negative environmental impact of transport. Planning of freight transport requires that far more criteria should be taken into account compared to route planning for the travelling population. A comprehensive fleet management platform featuring a planning module combined with other modules of the S-mileSys system being currently developed is also aimed at integration of large freight companies with the carriers that service first and last miles.

    W artykule została omówiona logistyka transportu mająca coraz większe znaczenie w planowaniu transportu towarów. Ponieważ koszty transportu zależą od jego przewidywanego czasu dostarczenia oraz od środka transportu, stąd planowanie trasy przejazdu jest istotnym czynnikiem w logistyce transportu, która we współczesnym świecie nie może w pełni funkcjonować bez rozwiązań informatycznych. W artykule poddano analizie transport kolejowy w Szwajcarii, będący jednym z najbardziej rozwiniętych tego typu systemów transportowych w Europie. Obliczenia bazują na przykładowych danych dotyczących tras kolejowych narodowego przewoźnika w tym kraju z wyborem czasu przejazdu jako głównego kryterium wyznaczania optymalnej trasy przejazdu dla wybranych połączeń między miastami. Dla potrzeb analizy został stworzony program implementujący algorytm Dijkstry, który posłużył do wyszukiwania optymalnego połączenia między wskazanymi miastami według danego kryterium.
    This article discusses some computer-based logistics solutions aimed to improve the planning process in freight transport. Since transport costs are dependent on the lead time and the transport mode, route planning is a crucial factor in transport logistics, which, these days, relies heavilyon computer technology. The study is focused on the rail transport system in Switzerland, known to be the most developed in Europe. The data used in the computations refers to rail routes of the national carrier in that country. The transportation time was the main criterion to select an optimal route between origin and destination. The analysis involved developing a program that implements Dijkstra’s algorithm to find an optimal connection between places according to the selected criterion.

    The routing problem of small island ports is, in many cases, firmly dependent on country topology, e.g., how to connect islands with a main (home) port, where the order of stops can be different, especially if there are not enough passengers or cargo waiting to be transported to or from every port. Thus, we need a capable optimization tool with which we can adapt each route for an appropriate time schedule; for example, some routes in one cycle can touch each island (forwards or backwards) but some routes can be incomplete, to touch only a few of them. The carrier has to find space for price-cutting (lower prices per journey – more passengers on board), to be more attractive in free-market competition. In such route optimization, we have to interconnect minimal transport cost with maximal revenue (money from tickets), which could be a very demanding task (a non-linear objective cost function). Instead of a non-linear polynomial optimization, which can be very complicated and time-consuming, the network optimization methodology could be efficiently applied. The main goal is to find more efficient routes, to decrease expenses and to increase revenue at the same time (dual mini/max problem).

    The share of various means of transport in travels within the city is not only a technological issue, but first and foremost a spatial issue. Walking and bicycle trips tend to be shorter both in terms of distance and time, compared to trips made by public transport or by car. Therefore, a question arises: how functions should be distributed of in the city to enable its inhabitants to use individual car transport as little as possible? The aim of the article is to discuss several concepts regarding walking, cycling and public transport distances and to confront these theories with data obtained in several European cities - Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen, London, Paris, Warsaw and Vienna.
    Udział różnych środków transportu w podróżach w mieście to nie tylko zagadnienie technologiczne, ale przede wszystkim przestrzenne. Podróże piesze i rowerowe są zazwyczaj krótsze zarówno w przestrzeni jak i w czasie w porównaniu z podróżami transportem publicznym i samochodem. Jakie zatem powinno być rozmieszczenie funkcji w mieście by jego mieszkańcy jak najrzadziej korzystali ze indywidualnego transportu samochodowego? Celem artykułu jest omówienie kilku teorii dotyczących dystansów pieszych, rowerowych i związanych z transportem publicznym oraz skonfrontowanie ich z danymi z kilku europejskich miast – Amsterdamu, Berlina, Kopenhagi, Londynu, Paryża, Warszawy oraz Wiednia.
