Artykuł dotyczy relacji pomiędzy pięknem i pracą zawodową prawnika. Podejmuję mianowicie próbę: a) wyszukania aktywności, które są specyficzne dla tego rodzaju pracy i zarazem pozostają zdeterminowane przez piękno; b) scharakteryzowania tego, jak piękno określa te aktywności; oraz c) wskazania podstawowych przyczyn bytowych tego określania. Dociekania nie obejmują wszystkich aktywności prawniczych, lecz jedynie te, w toku których podejmowane są decyzję. Piękno określa bowiem pracę prawnika poprzez proces podejmowania decyzji; a jeżeli decyzja stanowi akt współpracy intelektu i woli, to zależność decyzji od piękna jest trojaka. Otóż, przede wszystkim, piękno stanowi warunek konieczny wynajdywania okoliczności, w których decyzja jest podejmowana. Ponadto, piękno pozostaje czynnikiem sugerującym decydującemu opcje jako optymalne środki do celu, jak również wpływającym na akceptację podjętej już decyzji.
The article concerns the relationship between beauty and a lawyer’s professional work. I attempt to: 1) discover and describe the activities that are particular of such work as well as are determined by beauty; 2) characterize the way in which beauty determines these activates; and 3) point out ontological reasons of this determination. The reflections do not, however, include all activities which the lawyer’s craft consists in, but are limited to those in the course of which decisions are made. Beauty determines a lawyer’s work via the process of decision-making; and if a decision is conceived as an act of cooperation between intellect and will, then the decision is related to beauty in three ways. First of all, beauty constitutes a sine qua non for finding out the circumstances in which the decision is made. Additionally, beauty suggests to the decision-maker the options as the optimal means to an end. Finally, beauty influences the approval of a decision already made.

Przedmiotem publikacji jest próba „dotknięcia” problemu piękna w architekturze. Myśl tę zawarto w dwóch częściach. 1. Zrozumieć piękno. We współczesnej nauce czynione są próby odpowiedzi na pytanie, w jaki sposób nasz mózg reaguje na piękno. Wiadomo dziś, że piękno to zjawisko biologiczne – jest swego rodzaju pragnieniem, które domaga się zaspokojenia. Jest ono uczuciem subiektywnym, prywatnym. Nie jest oparte na przesłankach uniwersalnych. Nie posiada jednolitego kanonu, zmienia się w zależności od ustalonych wartości wyjściowych. 2. W poszukiwaniu piękna. Poszukując piękna w architekturze, posłużono się kryteriami Bernarda Tschumiego. Podziałem na: architekturę spójną z kontekstem miejsca, która ideę czerpie z historii bądź z tradycji regionu, oraz na architekturę o formie nowej, która może stać się początkiem nowej tradycji, nowej tożsamości miejsca.
The subject of this publication is the attempt to ‘touch’ the problem of beauty in architecture. This idea is comprised in two parts. 1.Understanding the beauty. The attempts to answer the question on how our brain reacts to beauty are still undertaken in modern science. It is generally known that beauty is a biological phenomenon. It is a kind of desire which needs to be satisfied. Beauty is a subjective, private feeling. It is not based on universal principles. It does not possess a homogenous set of principles, but it changes depending on the established output values. 2. In search for beauty. The criteria introduced by Bernard Tschumi were used while looking for beauty in architecture. The division includes: architecture consistent with the context of place, which draws the idea from history or traditions of the region and the architecture presenting new form, which may become the beginning of a new tradition and new integrity of the place.

Wynik pomiaru wraz z niepewnością ma wartości poznawczą, estetyczną i etyczną. Interpretacja wyniku pomiaru jest sądem prawdziwym, zatem wynik ma wartość poznawczą. Wartość estetyczną zawdzięcza wynik pomiaru formie i odpowiedniości. Wartość etyczna wywodzi się z racjonalności wyniku. Platon pojmował piękno szeroko: nie tylko jako wartość estetyczną, ale piękne były dlań także dobro i prawda. Uzasadniono, że równoczesne występowanie w wyniku trzech wartości – i to jest nowością – daje piękno szczególne, szeroko pojęte, kompleksowe, platońskie.
The paper shows that the measurement result together with the uncertainty has cognitive, aesthetic and ethical value. Interpretation of the measurement result is a true judgement, therefore the result has cognitive value. The aesthetic value of the measurement result arises from its form and adequacy. Ethical value is derived from the rationality of the result; rationality is treated as good. Presence of these three values encourages looking at the result of the measurement in the light of Plato's aesthetics. Plato comprehended beauty widely, not only as an aesthetic value, but also the beauty for him was the good and the truth. Justified that the simultaneous occurrence of the following three values – and this is new – it gives a special beauty, broad, comprehensive, Platonic. It was noted that the laws of physics, which are considered to be beautiful in the modern sense, in fact, also carry cognitive and ethical values. These laws can be contemplated in the Platonic way. Imagining in the mind a comprehensive beauty generates a greater admiration for the laws of mathematical and physical sciences and favours the willingness and the passion for knowledge. This is especially important for students. Beauty enriches the man and is an important component of culture.

The aim of the work is to find the sense of architecture, to show the role and importance of composition and form in the creative process towards architecture in a residential environment. Significant examples of architectural works from the late twentieth century were selected, showing the creative path followed by artists detached from historicism. The considerations are directed towards reading architecture, and above all, reading creator’s intentions as thoughtful messages. Searching for similarities in the works of outstanding artists that create great works of art.

The aim of this article is a deep analysis of the selected aesthetic assumptions of architectural minimalism. The first part of the text presents the history of simplifying and unifying movements in art, especially in architecture. Then, the paper elucidates five most significant treatments used by minimalist architects to achieve beauty in their buildings.

Reflection on beauty should also consider the moral aspects, and therefore the relationship to good. The relationship between beauty and good indicates Hebrew and Greek terminology, which is the same word (heb., tob, gr. kalos, agathos) that determines both beauty and good. In the Aristotelian-Thomistic concept every being is beautiful and also good because it has its source in God’s creative action. Due to the ongoing today subjectivisation and relativism of beauty it should be emphasized that this title is worth only what reflects eternal beauty. Therefore, not everything is beautiful what a man creates and what as such is considered. Beautiful is what is good and what leads to goodness. Beyond this limit imposed by the good exists only apparent beauty, and even ugliness, which is sometimes called beauty, but it is not. Striving toward eternal beauty, creating beauty within and around each other, growing up in beauty is a moral duty of a man.
Refleksja nad pięknem powinna uwzględniać także jego aspekty moralne, a więc relację do dobra. Na wzajemny stosunek piękna i dobra wskazuje terminologia hebrajska i grecka, która tym samym słowem (hebr. tob, gr. kalos, agathos) określa zarówno piękno jak i dobro. W koncepcji arystotelesowsko-tomistycznej każdy byt jest piękny i zarazem dobry, ponieważ ma swoje źródło w stwórczym działaniu Boga. Ze względu na dokonującą się współcześnie subiektywizację i relatywizację piękna należy podkreślić, że na to miano zasługuje jedynie to, co stanowi odbicie piękna wiecznego. Nie jest zatem piękne wszystko, co człowiek tworzy i za takie uznaje. Piękne jest to, co jest dobre i co prowadzi ku dobru. Poza tą granicą wyznaczoną przez dobro istnieje tylko piękno pozorne, a nawet brzydota, która bywa nazywana pięknem, choć nim nie jest. Dążenie ku pięknu wiecznemu, tworzenie piękna w sobie i wokół siebie, wzrastanie w pięknie jest moralnym obowiązkiem człowieka.

In “Amorous Initiation”, Oscar Milosz tells the story of the love of Mr. Pinamonte for Clarice-Annalena. A chance meeting with a woman who is, among other things, easy and fickle, perhaps even a prostitute, becomes a mystical meeting with the divine. Annalena is ambivalent : An ordinary woman, a bewitching Circe, a Great Whore of Babylon, a sign of the beauty of creation, a symbol of God. Above all she is the way to Transcendence. Annalena reappears years later in the poem of Czesław Miłosz, and, in turn, invites the poet on a great voyage. This is a voyage through the woman to the other side of the looking glass, towards God. When I say “through the woman” it is to be taken literally: “I loved your velvet yoni, Annalena, the long voyages in the delta of your legs”. The woman in the poetry of C. Miłosz is as ambivalent as her prototype in “Amorous Initiation”. She is the incarnation of nature — a crushing, sucking, chewing, digesting thing, she is the fragile creature who arouses deep compassion, a travel companion, an incarnation of Beauty, and finally a symbol of the divine. We are now going to retrace this voyage through women in the poems of C. Miłosz.

In this article, the author focuses on the subject of poetry used in the Word of God. The forms of poetry presented during ancient times, the middle ages and a short correlation to biblical poetry, which is the basis to Christian poetry, are introduced with clear originality. The reader who is familiar with the forms of poetry used in homiletics as well as in lyrical preaching fragments, beginning from Clement of Alexandria and finishing with today’s Polish poet-preachers, will discover that poetry is a perfect tool to transmit homiletic and dogmatic contents. It represents itself as a privileged instrument to express the Word of God. The subject of poetry at the service of the Word of God has as its goal on one side to call attention to today’s preachers to the richness of Church poetry, and on the other side, to make one more sensitive to the beauty of the Word.

Artykuł jest skróconą prezentacją prowadzonych badań dotyczących odbioru architektury i wpływu stosowania rozwiązań formalnych niezwiązanych z praktycznymi celami architektury na ostateczną formę dzieła. To próba przyjrzenia się historycznemu rozwojowi architektury przez pryzmat poszukiwania czystej formy zarówno w obszarze dzieła jako całości, jak i detalu. Badania obejmują kwerendy literaturowe, archiwalne oraz własne doświadczenia autora. Są próbą spojrzenia na architekturę jako dziedzinę sztuki, której forma nie musi być wyłącznie doraźnie użyteczna czy praktyczna. Obszarowo badania dotyczą architektury europejskiej, a poddawane dzieła nie muszą być wybitnymi przykładami architektury.
This article is a short summary of research done on the reception of architecture and the impact of applying formal solutions, not related to practical goals of architecture, on the final work. It is an attempt to examine the historical development of architecture through the prism of searching for a pure form, both when it comes to analysing the work as a whole and examining it in detail. The study also includes literature, archival queries, and the author's own experiences. It is also an attempt to look at architecture as a field of art whose form does not have to be only temporary useful or practical. The research covers European examples of architecture and does not necessarily include outstanding examples of architecture.

Article’s thesis represents a perspective of developments over the centuries in Liturgy of the hours (Liturgia Horarum) in the Nativity of The Blessed Virgin Mary Feast (Festum Nativitatis BVM). The analysis has shown the contemporary secular office in the context of the monastic and tridentine offices and medieval manuscripts (including Hartker Antiphonary). The comparison of the present chanting repertory with the compositions from particular books for Divine office facilitated highlighting relations between the office’s stages as well as determining included authentic gregorian chant.

Zdaniem Henryka Elzenberga: dobro = wartość = piękno. Obiektywnie te trzy pojęcia są identyczne, a przekonanie, że jest inaczej, ma źródło w subiektywności ich ujmowania/postrzegania. Ten pogląd Elzenberg przedstawił w artykule O różnicy pomiędzy „pięknem” a „dobrem” (1933). Według autora, Elzenberg ma jedynie po części rację. Byłoby tak: piękne są rzeczy, a dobre są stany rzeczy/sytuacje, w szczególności istnienie rzeczy pięknych. Piękna jest Sonata księżycowa Beethovena, dobrem jest to (stan rzeczy), że ten utwór istnieje.

Potocznie przyjęło się traktować piękno jako wartość artystyczną, wydaną wyłącznie na żywioł sztuki. Podczas gdy jest ono drogą do jedności tak powszechnej, że obejmuje wszystko, ma charakter absolutnie powszechny. Nie ma bowiem aspektu życia, który nie byłby objęty zbawczym działaniem piękna. Nawet grzech naruszający harmonię i wprowadzający rozłam tam, gdzie panowała dotychczas jedność, nie może ostatecznie pokonać porządku, który zachwyca swym blaskiem. Piękno jest drogą do jedności absolutnej, ale nie totalizującej, czyli takiej, która uznaje i chroni poszczególne części tej całości. Jest ono słowem Słowa, trynitarnym blaskiem człowieczeństwa Logosu. Jeśli bowiem fundamentem człowieczeństwa w Bogu jest Słowo, to Jego pierwszym słowem skierowanym do ludzi jest trynitarne piękno. Bóg w tym słowie daje człowiekowi najdoskonalszy paradygmat jedności.
The subject of these considerations will be the problem of beauty in its Trinitarian perspective and in the context of the symbolic theology of Brunon Forte, which provides the appropriate tools to explore this issue. This article presents the beauty of the Father, who is the beginning without the beginning of the other divine persons, who eternally come from Him. The Father eternally begotten the Son and on the foundation on His relationship with Him, He creates the universe. In this way, by giving up being everything, God the Father becomes the beginning of harmony whose light reveals everlasting beauty. In turn, by the act of the Incarnation, the Son of God enables intra-Trinitarian harmony to reveal in the space of creation, which is wounded by sin. In Christ, it becomes possible to complete the unification of sinful humanity with the merciful God. He is therefore the only way to unity, reflecting the unity of the Trinity. Holy Spirit also builds the unity of both the Trinity and ecclesial space. For he is the bond of love between the Father and the Son; Their communion open to others. Thanks to that, he may serve a similar function in the community of the Church as he serves in the Trinity - uniting people. All this allows one to consider beauty as a beautifully mysterious attribute of God, manifested in the light of unity, which dominates in the Trinitarian relations. By the act of the Incarnation, this unity is shared by humanity.
