    Preaching the Word of God is one of the basic functions of the Church. An enormous role in this area was played by the Fathers of the Church, who left a considerable output as preachers. By discovering the wealth of their homilies, sermons and speeches, the material is continuously analysed in terms of its content and theology. A proper content-related discussion can be facilitated by a new criterion of research based on “pastoral exhortations.” This term means different kinds of appeals, calls, incentives or even orders. It can be done on the basis of two ordering criteria: philological and content-related ones. Taking into consideration the quantity, the leading topics and the content of the analysed source material, that is the speeches, homilies and sermons, can be precisely defined.
    Przepowiadanie słowa Bożego należy do podstawowych funkcji Kościoła. Nieprzejednaną rolę w tym zakresie odegrali ojcowie Kościoła, którzy pozostawili wielki dorobek kaznodziejski. Odkrywając bogactwo treści ich homilii, kazań i mów nieustannie dokonuje się analizy treściowej i teologicznej pozostawionego materiału. Do należytego opracowania merytorycznego może posłużyć nowe kryterium przygotowania kwerendy w oparciu o „ekshortacje pastoralne”. Termin ten oznacza różnego rodzaju apele, wezwania, zachęty czy wręcz nakazy. Może się to dokonywać w oparciu o dwa kryteria porządkujące: filologiczne oraz merytoryczne. Uwzględnienie zestawu ilościowego pozwala na precyzyjne określenie wiodących tematów i treści analizowanego materiału źródłowego, jakim są pozostawione mowy, homilie i kazania.

    The aspirations of Pope Francis for the renewal of pastoral care of the family are based on the deeply theologically rooted principles of the Church’s proper role. In the exhortation Amoris Laetitia, the principle of God’s grace, the principle of pastoral love, the paschal principle of sacrifice and the principle of the Church’s missionary activity are all clearly visible. In the document, we can also find a few directions for the renewal of the pastoral care of the family. The strengthening of the focus of the parish as well as the strengthening of the focus of spouses and the domestic Church on pastoral care of the family are crucial. Further on, we find encouragement for the renewal of the preparation for marriage within the ecclesial community, and for the development and strengthening of the pastoral care of married couples. The Pope sees the care for those in irregular situations as an extension of the pastoral care of engaged and married couples. Consequently, for the realization of the desired directions in the development and renewal of pastoral care of the family, it is necessary to expand and deepen the formation of seminarians and priests for their pastoral work with engaged persons, married couples and families.

    Adhortacja Evangelii gaudium jest owocem odbytego w Rzymie od 7 do 28 października 2012 roku XIII Zwyczajnego Zgromadzenia Ogólnego Synodu Biskupów na temat: Nowa ewangelizacja dla przekazu wiary chrześcijańskiej. Adhortacja zawiera m.in. podstawowe wskazania pokazujące, w jaki sposób działania nazywane przez nas duszpasterstwem zwyczajnym powinny uzyskać ducha misyjnego. Franciszek wymienia kilka instytucji kościelnych, które odgrywają ważną rolę w działalności duszpasterskiej: parafia (EG 28), diecezja (EG 30) oraz papiestwo (EG 32). Papież najpierw analizuje duszpasterstwo misyjne na polu parafii, później diecezji, a na końcu podejmuje temat papiestwa. Misja Kościoła wychodzi nie z centrum, ale z peryferii. Pojawia się także wezwanie o przełamanie pewnego schematu myślowego, ponieważ „duszpasterstwo w kluczu misyjnym wymaga rezygnacji z wygodnego kryterium pasterskiego, że «zawsze się tak robiło»” (EG 33).
    The Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii gaudium (The Joy of the Gospel), is the fruit of the work of the XIII Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, held in the Vatican, from 7 to 28 October 2012, on the theme “The New Evangelisation for the Transmission of the Christian Faith”. In it, pope Francis encourages pastoral ministers to inject more missionary spirituality to what is known as their ordinary pastoral ministry. He mentions several important church institutions which aid pastoral ministry: parish (EG 28), diocese (EG 30), and papacy (EG 32), and analyses each of them in the context of missionary pastoral ministry. Church’s mission originates in the peripheries, not in the centre. The pope urges pastoral ministers to disaffiliate themselves from thought patterns, because “(...) a missionary key seeks to abandon the complacent attitude that says: We have always done it this way” (EG 33).

    Adhortacja apostolska Querida Amazonia jest pokłosiem zgromadzenia synodu biskupów na temat „Amazonia: nowe drogi dla Kościoła i ekologii integralnej”. Wskazania papieża Franciszka w niej zawarte mają w dużej części charakter uniwersalny i można odnieść je do innych Kościołów lokalnych. Mogą one mieć zastosowanie także dla duszpasterstwa w Polsce. W artykule zostały ukazane możliwości zastosowania niektórych zaleceń papieskich w realiach Kościoła w Polsce. Pierwsza część artykułu traktuje o konieczności ewangelizacji. Przedstawione przez Franciszka argumenty przemawiające za kontynuacją i rozwojem przekazu Dobrej Nowiny w Amazonii są aktualne również w Polsce. Konieczne jest także – o czym jest mowa w drugiej części – stosowanie inkulturacji w różnych jej aspektach. Jakkolwiek inkulturacja w ewangelizacji ludów dorzecza Amazonki i społeczeństwa polskiego ma inny kształt, to dla efektywności działalności pastoralnej jest ona niezbędna. Trzecia część artykułu została poświęcona problemom związanym z budowaniem żywych wspólnot chrześcijańskich. Procesowi temu, w Amazonii i w Polsce, towarzyszą podobne problemy, dlatego ich rozwiązania proponowane przez Franciszka dla Kościoła w Ameryce Południowej mogą – po zaakomodowaniu – okazać się skuteczne w duszpasterstwie polskim.
    Apostolic exhortation Querida Amazonia is a rapport of the assembly of the Synod of bishops called: The Amazon: New Paths for the Church and for an Integral Ecology. The indications of Pope Francis enumerated in the exhortation are universal and, therefore, they can also refer to other local Churches. They can also be used by the Polish priests. The article presents the possible ways of using some of the Pope’s indications in the Polish Church. The first part of the article is a debate on the necessity for evangelization. The arguments which are used by Pope Francis to indicate the need to continue and develop spreading of the Gospel are a current issue also in Poland. It is necessary, as it is stated in part 2 of the article, to use inculturation in its various aspects. Although the inculturation in the evangelization of the people who live in the Amazon basin is different than the evangelization of the Polish society, it is still indispensable for the efficiency of the pastoral ministry. The third part of the article is devoted to the problems connected with building active Christian communities. The process, both in Poland and in Amazonia, encounters similar problems, therefore, the solutions given by Pope Francis may also prove useful for the Polish pastoral care.

    The public debate increasingly talks about the crisis of the Church, which is manifested by a decline in the most important statistical indicators of faith. However, if we look at the development of Christianity, we will easily see that in its history it has very often experienced problems with the hallmarks of a crisis. Perhaps the basis for perceiving the current situation as a crisis is a distorted image of God and the expectation that Catholicism would dominate in quantitative terms over other worldview proposals that can be found today. This text reflects on the phenomenon of the crisis of the Catholic Church in Poland and discusses whether the observable changes in the Church concern faith itself, or rather religion, which is a broader concept. Finally, based on Francis’ exhortation Evangelii Gaudium, the article shows inspiration for awakening hope and pastoral activity, which are a guarantee of saving the faith of those seeking God and being close to Him.

    W zaprezentowanym opracowaniu o charakterze przyczynkowym Autor rozważył problem duszpasterstwa osób znajdujących się w sytuacji nieregularnej w świetle dyrektyw zawartych w adhortacji apostolskiej Amoris laetitia papieża Franciszka. W oparciu o analizę papieskiego dokumentu oraz komentarze kanonistów do jego wytycznych wykazał, iż problem wiernych żyjących w sytuacjach nieregularnych jest wezwaniem nie tylko pastoralnym, ale i prawnym. Jego zdaniem poruszony w artykule problem duszpasterstwa wciąż pozostaje sprawą otwartą. Poszczególnych dyrektyw zaprezentowanych w opracowaniu, w jego opinii, nie należy postrzegać rozłącznie, ale integralnie. Kształtowanie bowiem sumień, nauczanie pełnej prawdy o małżeństwie, integrowanie ze wspólnotą Kościoła, czy w końcu bardzo pragmatyczne wnioski w kwestii korzystania z uprawnień i ich ograniczania mogą się wzajemnie uzupełniać; należy aplikować je nie w sposób wybiórczy, ale adekwatnie do zaistniałych uwarunkowań.
    In the presented contributive elaboration, the author considered the problem of pastoral care of people in an irregular union in the light of the directives contained in Pope Francis’ Apostolic Exhortation Amoris laetitia. Based on the analysis of the papal document and the canonists’ comments to its guidelines, author showed that the problem of the faithful living in irregular unions is not only a pastoral challenge, but also a legal one. In his opinion, the problem of pastoral care raised in the article remains an open question. In his opinion, the individual directives presented in the study, should not be viewed separately, but integrally. Shaping consciences, teaching the full truth about marriage, integrating with the Church community, or finally very pragmatic conclusions regarding the use of rights and their limitation may complement each other; they should be applied not selectively, but adequately to the existing conditions.

    Amoris laetitia apostolic exhortation, dealing with love in the family, by Pope Francis (2016), which is the fruit of reflection of the two Congregations of the Synod of Bishops (2014 and 2015 significantly), fits the mainstream teaching of the last decades in the subject of marriage and family.On June 8, 2018, during the 379th Plenary Meeting held in Janów Podlaski, the Polish Episcopal Conference adopted the document „Pastoral guidelines to Amoris laetitia apostolic exhortation”, published two days later. It is a fruit of a kind of compromise and long discussions held at the same Conference.After showing the genesis and nearly two-year history of the „Guidelines”, the author characterizes it, stressing that it is a pastoral document, and then discusses its content contained in four chapters (Essential elements of teaching of Pope Francis; „The Joy of love” in marriage and family; New pastoral impulses; A call to pastoral discernment and logic of integration in the light of Chapter VIII of Amoris laetitia; Summary).In the author’s opinion, „Pastoral Guidelines” of the Polish Episcopal Conference, although not free of certain editorial deficiencies, constitute a useful pastoral tool in the service for the benefit of marriage and family. He also expresses an opinion that many of the issues raised in this document will find its continuation in the announced “Directory of the Pastoral Care of Families for the Church in Poland”.

    Papież Franciszek opublikował adhortację apostolską Gaudete et exsultate o powołaniu do świętości w świecie współczesnym19 marca 2018 r. Na ten dokument można popatrzeć przez pryzmat pastoralnego rozeznania jako pewnego narzędzia stosowanego w teologii pastoralnej. Pastoralne rozeznanie możemy zdefiniować jako intelektualno-duchową i ontologiczno-egzystencjalną potrzebę Kościoła, który uruchamia i kontynuuje zbawcze dzieło ewangelizowania świata. Bez wątpienia świętość jest istotnym przedmiotem pastoralnego rozeznania. Na podstawie dokumentu można wykazać, że podpowiedziane przez papieża Franciszka cechy świętości są jednocześnie jej kryteriami właściwego pastoralnego rozeznania. Są nimi: znoszenie, cierpliwość i łagodność; radość i poczucie humoru; śmiałość i zapał; bycie we wspólnocie oraz trwanie w nieustannej modlitwie.
    On 19.03.2018, Pope Francis published the apostolic exhortation with the Latin title Gaudete et exsultate on the call to holiness in today’s world. This document can be seen from the perspective of pastoral discernment as a certain tool used in pastoral theology. Pastoral discernment can be defi ned as intellectual – spiritual and ontological – existential need of the Church which initiates and continues the saving work of evangelization of the world. Without doubt, holiness is an essential subject of pastoral discernment. Based upon this document one can perceive that the characteristic features of the right pastoral discernment suggested by Pope Francis are at the same time its criteria. These are: tolerance, patience and gentleness, joy and sense of humour, courage and enthusiasm, being in community, and remaining in constant prayer.
